I've gotten to try Tamale Mama on two different occasions. The first time, I went on a Sunday afternoon. I got the tamazole and an iced latte. The latte was okay. It was very milky and not enough coffee flavor for my taste. The tamazole was tasty, but the tamal totally disintegrated in the pozole, which I guess is the point but I did not like the texture much. If I were to try it again, I'd probably order the tamal on the side so I can add when I'm ready to eat it.
On my second visit, I ordered on a weekday. I ordered around 5 and it was already dark outside so I was a little iffy on going because of the location. When I got there, parking in front of the restaurant was limited. The area is not well lit and the restaurant is one of the few businesses on that corner that are open. Definitely recommend you go with someone if going after dark or stay vigilant. I'd suggest that whoever owns the blue mustang (and employee), park elsewhere and leave the front of the restaurant parking for customers since there's not many.
This time I ordered the pozole and a pork tamal on the side. The tamal was delicious! The masa was PERFECT. It's hard coming across tamales with a solid masa..iykyk. The meat was good, but definitely not enough. The pozole was very tasty as well. They packed it with meat. It came with toppings which included onion, cabbage, lemon and chili oil. I wish they would add radishes to the toppings they give!
Anyway, overall, I will be coming here whenever I'm in the mood for some delicious pozole or tamales.
