Tamaleria Lupita - Review - Dunning - Chicago - The Infatuation

"This casual Mexican restaurant in Dunning specializes in tamales. The namesake dish comes in all sorts of varieties, like pollo verde, frijol con queso, and pineapple. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - John Ringor

I walked in. It was very clean. The guy who took my order was super friendly answer questions great customer service. Menu very straightforward. I really wanted a Champurrado but I got my tamales so fast (I picked up a dozen )and it was super hot. I forgot all about it, but I will be back to try. It seemed to be a very family friendly place. Monday Through Friday it opens at 5AM this is to 6 pm 6 am- 6pm Saturday and Sunday according to the Internet

Great place with great service. Clean and tidy interior with fair, reasonable prices. Their food is delicious. I tried the pollo verde and rojo and the puerco verde and rojo. All were absolutely delightful. Come on over and grab some hot and freshly made tamales. Cheers!

Coming from the south side of Chicago…. I’ve been looking for a good place that sells tamales. The problem is, most places up north, the tamales are dry, don’t have flavor, don’t have enough meat and are really expensive- just to be disappointed. My bf and I decided to try it out as we walked by. We were not disappointed! The tamales were so delicious and a good price! Definitely coming back! So glad it’s close to home. I would admit, little music in there wouldn’t hurt. Set the mood… other than that- LOVE THE TAMALES! Definitely going to be our go to place now! Can’t wait to try the Atole!

Decided to visit this place since it finally opened up in the neighborhood. Here's my take on the tamales. Absolutely incredible tamales! I can’t recommend this place enough. The tamales are packed with flavor—perfectly seasoned, with tender fillings and just the right texture in the masa. You can tell everything is made with love and authenticity. The green chile chicken and the sweet tamales were standouts, I will have to try out other options to give it a full review. I also tried the atole (guava), which was very good. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the service was fast. Whether you’re a tamale enthusiast or trying them for the first time, this spot is a must-visit. I will definitely be coming back for more!

It’s about time we get a GOOD tamale in the area! Nice quiet place. The red chicken tamale I had was extremely flavorful, and NOT DRY! moist tamales The young man who worked the front was very polite and fast making my order. They do have a charge for paying with card so maybe bring cash if you want to avoid that!

Tamales are good in flavor only problem is they look more like the size of flautas, they are thin, tamales are wide and fluffy red pork and rajas was my choice, the arroz con leche was delicious. Prices are good, will try again maybe even the Oaxaca tamales

I recommend all of the atoles—especially the guayaba atole! Just went there this morning after having driven by it so many times. The tamales oaxaquenos are especially delicious—good sauce, plenty of meat and soft but well-cooked and mixed masa. Going in again for the sweet tamales 😍
