"This may be the most welcoming tamaleria in the greater Los Angeles area with its well-lit dining room, chalkboard menu, and corn field sticker that runs the length of one wall reminding you it’s all about the masa. All tamales are moist tender corn husk tamales of stewed, shredded pork in a bright red sauce, their most popular, of thick strands of shredded beef, in the same guiso. Chicken with diced potatoes in a tangy, green salsa is another popular filling in Sinaloa. If you show up near closing, end the evening with a pineapple tamal — a sweet bean paired with a hot cup of cinnamon spiced, champurrado." - Bill Esparza

Rude cashier, I wanted no onions and it came with half a pound on them. She then told me “I had to put it on the notes” which I saw none. She then continued telling me the same thing and I basically told her I had heard her already, her 🔁 n got was not gonna make the onions go away. The tamales are super small too for $3. Not going back.

This small, quaint restaurant is nestled in a small strip mall off Tustin Ave in Orange, CA. From the outside, it's easy to miss driving North on Tustin. The parking lot is small also. When you enter the comfortable-lit restaurant, you are greeted by soothing Spanish music. I came, in for the first time, close to Thanksgiving. The decorations were appropriate for the time of year. Very nice setting to enjoy a delicious meal. The young lady gave me an inviting smile and greeting as soon l entered the establishment. The first time I came through I got the signature item, Tamles. I got 3 green-sauce chicken tamales. They were small, but full of meat and very flavorful. They were well-packaged and came with homemade hot green salsa. You can choose red salsa too. I got the green. She included napkins and salsa without me having to ask. This is a plus nowadays because most restaurants won't give you anything more than the order if you don't ask. The chicken was so tender and the tamales were well complimented by the salsa provided to me. The tamales may look small but once you start eating this art you come to realize it's worth the $3 for one. The cost was around $3 each as of 11/21/23. I did eat all 3 and was full. The following day I felt like I had to try out their $2 Taco Tuesday deals. These were Street tacos with your choice of Pork, chicken, or Steak. I went with 2 steak and 2 chicken. The Asada was so flavorful and delicious. Add the salsa and it is amazing. The pollo was not shredded. It was more cubed. It was delicious but dry-tasting. I put extra sauce on it. I was hoping the same pollo in the tamales would be in the taco. It was good but I prefer the Asada. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for the hospitality, cleanliness, and taste. Try for yourself. I ordered an extra side of green salsa to go because I really enjoyed it.

Wow! Just got my delivery for a couple dozen. Ordered several times previously. This used to be my favorite place until my delivery came today. The tamales are smaller in size! Sure didn't lower the price!! No more orders for them. Time to find a new place!!! Don't bother people....

Google
Ordered tamales after checking out the reviews… I was not disappointed! I ordered 6 of each and they are so freaking good. Perfect ratio of masa and meat (or cheese). I am going to order a couple dozen more because they are so dang good!

The food was good! Menudo was very tasty, clean, and no grease! Tamales were the best. the portion was really good. 👌

Google
As of late, and after a very long, tedious, and expensive search for the very least decent tamales, we have been buying from Jovita Tamales, in Escondido? Vista?, right off the 76 going East. Most other places, including fancy, or should I say expensive places, they serve tamales that keep missing the mark of excellence on the making. They either drown them in a very unappetizing sauce, or the masa needs improvement, or simply put, don’t have what it takes. Jovita, mother and daughter team, does the job. On that note, ever the searchers, and being in the Orange area, we zeroed in Tamaleria Rincón Sinaloense, which according to many reviews, knew how to prepare decent tamales. At $21+ the dozen, we purchased 2 dozen, 6 of each: Rajas or Spicy Cheese with Chili, Pork, Chicken and Beef. Arrived early before appointment, around 10 AM (opens at 8?), and the place with only one couple eating, appeared dormant. Young, should I say pretty lady?, popped out from what I would assume was the kitchen area, where apparently is where the magic takes place, nice but business like took my order. We waited till we returned back to our casa to try them. Chicken, Pork, and Cheese, scored the highest marks. Beef, although saturated with shredded beef, the least enticing, first and last, not as good. The place is a storefront specializing in the production of their version of tamales. Yes, if in the area, and God willing, I wouldn’t hesitate to get 8 each of our favorites, since we are definitely not enthusiastic for the sweet variety in any way, shape, or form. Nice surprise, actually nice and tasty, well worth the visit. 4.5 Stars.

Google
This Tamaleria has very tasty Tamales. I've tried their Pork and Cheese Spicy. Both are very tasteful. Impressive flavor which now I bought 15 pieces to take with us to Tor, Canada. I've heard they have some regular customers traveling from far distance, I guess I'm their new farthest customer. I do recommend for you to try this place and I will definitely come back again on my next visit to OC.

Google
$3 Pork tamales excellent with red or green salsa. Chicken tamales very dry chicken. Nice environment for fast food. Clean bathroom. Easy parking.

Cherie L.

Yelp
The first time here and I ordered pork, beef and cheese. One preparado and they were ALL delicious. My sister and I had the best and yummiest tamales we have had in so long. Finally, a place that has moist, meaty and flavorful tamales. Highly recommend and love supporting a new family business. Very clean and organized. Give them a try

Emilio H.

Yelp
The champurrado was fantastic; perfectly hot, thick, and flavorful; a huge container for only $6, a great value. I tried every tamal and they were all fantastic. The masa and filling of each were flavorful and tender. Decor is rustic and fun. Staff was super friendly and hardworking. Definitely my new go-to when I'm in the mood for tamales.

Karen R.

Yelp
Great moist warm fresh tamales I live the beef and pork the cheese and chicken were ok the champarado was delicious

Elisa S.

Yelp
I feel like tamale season is basically upon us, so I stopped by to try this place out. I gotta say I was pleased with their cheese and chicken tamales. I also had their carnitas plate which was pretty good, but I feel like they specialize more in their tamales. The service itself was great, and it was such a cute little establishment to enjoy a meal in.

Jessica B.

Yelp
The tamales were so good! They were sold out of all meat options on NYE so I got the spicy queso and the elote. Both were amazing and I can't wait to go back and stock our freezer with the other options after the new year. I also bought a green and red salsa to go and love them.

Alex B.

Yelp
Where do I even start! I'm a student in the area who's far from home and this place is my comfort zone whenever i'm hungry or feeling stressed and need some great, homemade food. The tamales are AMAZING and for my vegans out there they have the best selection of vegan tamales and put potato in their veggie one. Great, welcoming greetings from staff never fail. This is me and my mom's favorite place to decompress and find a little piece of home far from home. Will always come here for comfort food. Very affordable as well.

J W.

Yelp
Tamales are fresh and good- nothing beats homemade but these were worth the trip! The people working were super nice and friendly.

Vision R.

Yelp
I've been going here for a bit. And noticed I never gave it a review. Implausible! So this place is ran by a husband and wife team. Their food is clean and phenomenally delicious! Tamales are full of meat when they have them. And the carnitas is cooked to perfection. No fatty parts on the plate. The asada is great as well but they don't have a steak it's chopped already. I prefer a piece of meat. But again no biggie. The rice and beans is classically perfect. And the corn tortillas are fresh and everything is packed just right. Have to try their pozole. Eat in or take out. Both are great. The restaurant is Super clean including the restroom. And the dynamic duo are always happy to see you. 5+ stars! Oh and pricing is very fair for the level of food. Check them out.

Bombaclotin F.

Yelp
Read a lot of reviews and decided I would give it a try , I ordered 3 tamales with rice and beans . As I'm waiting I see the employee take a styrofoam container put it into a microwave . Then put it in a bag and gave it to me saying my food was ready . The beans and rice where mediocre at best and the tamales where dried out and I didn't even Finnish them . Save your appetite and your money and go elsewhere , unless you like microwave reheated food .

Yelp
As a tamale lover who normally only likes my grandmas tamales, these were absolutely amazing! So happy we stopped by. The green chicken was not my favorite which was a little disappointing but the red beef made up for it. The dress tamale was also tasty! 10/10 must try

Eddie F.

Yelp
Well, first of all, it's a little hole in the wall in orange. The people are friendly. The tamales are good moist wow I didn't see that coming but it's a really good place to eat real quick pick up some good food must try

Johnny S.

Yelp
We have been trying to find a great Menudo place in Orange...and we finally did! Their tamales and Menudo are very flavorful with a homemade taste.

Eva W.

Yelp
Hubby found this place through Yelp! and it was our first time here. It has been challenging to find a good tamale in the OC as we're used to getting them from East LA. We ordered 2 dozen tamales, 8 each of beef, pork and chicken for a family gathering, but kept two of each for ourselves. Even before we brought these to the gathering, everyone already had called dibs on the pork tamales. We did our own taste test with the six tamales we kept for ourselves, To our surprise, the beef, pork and chicken were all equally delicious! The family members were not disappointed with whichever tamale they end up with. At the end of the night, there were a few left over because there was so much food. Of course, the family was fighting over them. They were so delicious! We will DEFINITELY be back for more!

Eileen M.

Yelp
Tamales are good but tiny. For $3.00, they are not worth the price. We order to go so I do not have a review for the service or ambiamce.

Makiko N.

Yelp
I was looking to try someplace new on Doordash and was craving tamales so decided to try Tamaleria Rincón. I was really pleased with everything I ordered. Tamales tried: - pork - a tasty tamale worth getting - beef - of the tamales tried I think this was my favorite. Tamale was full of flavor and there was the perfect portion of masa to meat. - chicken - another tasty tamale. Not as flavorful as the pork and beef, but glad I tried it. - sweet corn - it was the yin to the yang. Since all the tamales I got were savory, having the sweet corn helped balance flavors. All in all - all of the tamales tried were delicious! I'll definitely order again.

Saelene C.

Yelp
Please go here if you are craving fresh homemade yummy tamales. They are absolutely delish

Heather W.

Yelp
Beef is my fave. Ordered the beef, pork, corn, and chicken and all were very flavorful! My friend recommended this place as it's a restaurant and has tamales all year long. The weekends they close at 2pm and weekdays they close at 8pm. Order before they are all sold out!! FYI salsa is an extra charge. Chumpurrado was a yummy chocolate porridge type thing they serve as well! You know it's a good place when they have meat coming out the sides! One criticism I would say is the customer service, not the nicest person ringing me up, straight face, no smile, actually looked a little pissed off, didn't recommend anything else to try. So if you do come in, don't be surprised if you don't get that warm fuzzy greeting! Lol

Sarah S.

Yelp
Really good tamales. We tried one of every kind. The beef were definitely the stand out winners, but the pork was also great and I enjoyed the chicken too. Masa was tasty and all the tamales were flavorful. We tried the sweet too, the corn was excellent, the pineapple and strawberry were a bit weird, but we sort of knew that when we ordered, just wanted to try anyway. Overall two thumbs up and definitely coming here again, and getting more beef tamales!

Nancy T.

Yelp
This place was recommended for excellent tamales. We bought a dozen about a month ago and put them in the freezer. We bought some chicken, Carnitas and I believe it was cheese and chili. Couldn't wait to try some. Very disappointed way too much masa and not enough meat. I've had tamales from other places that were so much better. Now we have quite a few left to eat sorry I cannot recommend.

Carla M.

Yelp
Wonderful beef and cheese tamales! Have tried neighbors' tamales and Northgate, but these are much better. Family enjoyed them last night.

Starla L.

Yelp
Finally, I found a tamale place we enjoy! Their tamales are full of flavors and moist. It's so good.

Pedro B.

Yelp
Best tamales I've had in awhile. Moist, flavorful not some dried out husk with some dried out masa and jerky for meat! They reheat great, just steam. Highly recommend you try some and take some home. Yummy!

Lisa J.

Yelp
This is a great location that has quit customer service, and turnaround time! I needed 35 tamales and they had everything ready for me with plates and napkins and salsa. It had me out the door in less than 15 minutes!

Shawna C.

Yelp
Great chicken, pork, cheese, pineapple and strawberry tamales. The pork and chicken were my favorite savory and the strawberry was my favorite sweet tamale. Glad to learn about this restaurant in my neighborhood Facebook recently. They were sold out the evening I came in so I placed an order for pick up a couple days later. The filling was ample and the masa was tasty and not dried out, even upon reheating. I'll definitely return for more. The cheese was cheddar and I prefer Monterey Jack with green chiles so the cheese we're not my fave. Happy holidays. Almost over now

Helga R.

Yelp
Great food, reasonable prices. If you're looking for a good, local spot that's not fancy and quick, this is your place.

Jenn S.

Yelp
Wow. These tamales are delicious. A bit on the pricey side, but worth it. The pork and cheese are my favorite. Fast and friendly service with delicious food.

JJ S.

Yelp
Always delicious tamales and great verity year round. Now serving a limited menu including this delicious Carnitas

Nathan E.

Yelp
Wife and I were craving tamales so found this spot on Yelp and thought to check it out. The service was quick and easy. The tamales were on the smaller side but were successful in satisfying the craving. The red salsa was delish and we also got the champurrado and that was delicious as well.

Katherine D.

Yelp
I was craving tamales and saw this place on Yelp and gave it a try because of the good reviews. I got 2 pork, 2 beef, and 2 chicken. The pork and beef were very good, with a good ratio of meat and masa. However, I didn't get to try the chicken since they gave me cheese instead. Not sure how they made this mistake. The person taking my order repeated the correct order and when i went to pick up she also repeated the correct order. I guess the cheese wrapping looks similar to the chicken one, so make sure to double check ur order before leaving. I tried calling them after and no one picked up the phone. Kinda ruined the first experience since this place was a little far for me and I just wasted $6 on two tamales that I'm not going to eat.

Margarita G.

Yelp

Uyen-Thanh N.

Yelp
Try the beef tamale with the Red Sauce, green sauce just standard. Chicken tamale was a no no (dry, flavorless). Overall, tamale was pretty average. A LOT of masa and not much meat $2.75/each. Excellent service from the girl at the front. I'd come back if i'm in the area just for the beef tamale and red sauce.

Israel S.

Yelp
Good tamales, and friendly customer service. Small family business, and easy to miss if you're driving by fast. I can't think of any other better tamales within Orange County. These are well above average. Wife and I woke up wanting tamales last Saturday and after reading some of the reviews I was convinced to come try them out. It looks like they really listen to their customer feedback. The tamales were a good size, moist, and full of meat. I don't mind paying a bit extra for a good tamale, with generous ingredients. I think beef and pork is the way to go. You wont be disappointed. They also sell bags of real Machaca! It's not the fake stuff you get at restaurants. We will be back.

A E.

Yelp
The best tamales we've ever had. Perfect masa consistency, generous meat and homemade taste.

Kenia S.

Yelp
We live a little far but definitely the best tamales in oc, we love the pork and chicken very fresh and warm Service is great the people are very nice and welcoming

Rhonda S.

Yelp
Just okay! Not enough meat inside and very expensive. Will not be back and not worth the price. So sad I heard such good things about this place.

Mike L.

Yelp
Been honest these tamales are really good they are soft and delicious plenty of meat will be definitely be coming back

Lilia M.

Yelp
Tamales were very tasty. Very clean place. The service was great too. Very organized to tend to the line of people in a timely manner.

Susan A.

Yelp
Tried for the first time, pork, chicken, raja, sweet corn (elote), pineapple tamales, breakfast burrito, menudo, chicken, carnitas and carne asada tacos. All very fresh and tasty. The service was very good, efficient, helpful and friendly. The ambiance was good, clean, quiet (nobody there at the time), some good listening music playing.

Andrew R.

Yelp
Went there and Christmas Day. They had a few hundred tamales left pork and cheese were delicious. We got a few strawberry tamales which were OK overall I liked it place recommended.

Michelle E.

Yelp
Tamales are boring ...greasy with no flavor we bought beef, pork and chicken. The refried beans were watery and taste to lemony..... sorry we will not return.

Nena C.

Yelp
Awesome service and tamales were delicious! I ordered to go and everything was ready when I arrived. I prefieres the chicken with green Chile. Will definitely be back!

Paula F.

Yelp
Excellent tamales, the only place I will buy them from. Beef, pork, chicken and sweet - they're all really good! Fast too!

Liza W.

Yelp
So I sent tamales to my parents from Arizona, using doordash. This place had two dozen tamales ready and delivered hot within 15 minutes of placing my order. My stepmom even asked where I got them from because she said the tamales were a perfect ratio between masa and the meat, not to mention the taste of the masa was perfect, not bland or too salty. I will surely order from them again and have already recommended to family

Nikki O.

Yelp
Been wanting to come here for months and finally decided to stop here spontaneously to treat my mom to lunch. Needless to say, loved the tamales so walked out with a dozen. Apparently this place is a hit and there are always long lines for holidays. Which reminds me, you want to order delicious tamales, they are taking orders now for Christmas so make sure you get your orders in. My favorite tamale was the beef ones and according to my mom, the sweet corn ones are also delicious. I don't like corn so I didn't really want to try any which I kinda regret! Also, the Champurrado is amazing and delicious! Definitely has a great taste and is authentic. During the weekend, they have menudo if looking for something other than tamales to sit down and enjoy. Def will be returning!!!

Mia L.

Yelp
The tamales here are really good! I was a bit scared to try out the strawberry tamale, to my surprise it was super good, moist and not too sweet. The service was fast, friendly and the restaurant itself is super clean.

Paul W.

Yelp
Not a big menu, but when your tamales are this good you have no business ordering anything else anyway. Tired the corn (plain elote), pork and beef; all great. These are easily the best tamales I've had. They have a really good pozole on the weekends too. My only complaint is that they don't have free water (you can purchase bottled water).

Barbara G.

Yelp
Drove a distance to buy these tamales but they were so worth it! My family enjoyed them over the holiday break as they are great for a meal or a snack. They are especially moist and good quality of meet.

Alisa A.

Yelp
Was looking for a new place to get my Christmas tamales. I'm tired of the giant tamales with dry masa and no meat found at most places. These tamales are the perfect size, tender, and filled with chuncks of meat. Two tamales is the perfect serving size. We ended up getting pork, beef, chicken, and pineapple. All were delicious. I liked the pork and beef best. My husband really liked the pineapple, too. It tastes like pineapple upside-down cake. We will definitely be returning next year.
