Mexican Street Food: 5 Essential Dishes to Eat - AFAR

"A Mexico City tamalería selling both savory and sweet tamales, offering traditional masa parcels filled with pork, chicken, beef or vegetables and steamed in banana leaves or corn husks, alongside regional specialties and sweet versions like pineapple‑filled pink tamales." - Meagan Drillinger

The 36 Best Restaurants in Mexico City, From the Splurge-Worthy to Streetside Tamale Stands | Condé Nast Traveler

"The best tamales in Mexico City sell out quickly from this demure storefront on a quiet street in the Roma neighborhood. While tamales are a common street food, this walk-up shop (with sidewalk tables for those who want to eat on-site) turns the everyday breakfast food into the extraordinary. While there is no way to go wrong—they are all great—it’s worth trying some of the specials: like pork loin with olives or beans with cheese and grasshoppers. This is a family-run operation, and they are friendly and welcoming, even as they move efficiently through the line." - Naomi Tomky, Scarlett Lindeman

Google
Banging tamales, I was looking for something different and they have it. Larger than usual tamales with a very interesting mix of flavors, the kind of flames you won't be disappointed with. Go out of your way and pay a visit, do go early, the best flavors sell out quickly. Ps: my pictures don't do it justice.

If you’re in Mexico City, this spot is an absolute must-try. They serve the best tamales I’ve tasted anywhere in CDMX: perfectly seasoned, authentic, and full of flavor. The staff are warm, respectful, and happy to guide you through the menu. A true hidden gem and a place everyone should add to their food list!

Since 1957! If you love tamales, it’s a must. Lots of varieties plus dessert tamales. Takes credit cards and staff is perfectly lovely. Outdoor seating

This place was genuinely incredible. We got tamales to go for our plane ride home and felt so lucky to be eating such deliciousness. Ranked in order of yumminess: frijol con queso y chapulines, flor de calabaza con queso, verde con carne de puerco (sauce is very very good, pork is slightly tough.)

Best Tamales I’ve had in my life. They are generously filled and high quality ingredients. It’s a great environment, but make sure to come early on weekends before they sell out! The owner, David, is extremely friendly. We arrived at 1pm on Saturday and they were sold out of all their savoury tamales. But David gave us a few from his personal friend’s order so that we weren’t left only eating sweet tamales. I will definitely come back earlier another day so I can try more tamales! Also highly recommend the guava juice. Very fresh!

So. Good. We came back x3 during our 5 day trip, all the tamales are delicious, and between our less healthy meals this felt good on the stomach. Try them all 😊 and vegetarian friendly! I had delicious options. The card machine was down so be sure to bring cash in case!
