We came to Chania excited to explore its reputation for authentic and high-quality food. Unfortunately, this restaurant was a huge letdown and left us feeling frustrated and disappointed.
When we arrived without a reservation (as many tourists do), the waiter reluctantly seated me and my two sons at an outside table. He made a remark suggesting we were lucky to be accommodated — even though there were clearly many empty tables. The setting itself was charming and romantic, which initially gave us hope.
The menu was difficult to understand, and the waiter offered no assistance or recommendations. My youngest ordered spaghetti Napolitana, playing it safe. My other son ended up with a vegetarian baked tart — though the description was unclear — and I chose the octopus, curious to try something local.
When the food arrived, the presentation was shockingly poor. The spaghetti was just plain pasta with tomato sauce — something a child could have cooked better. The vegetarian tart was simply a block on a plate, with no garnish or care. My octopus came with nothing but a pile of fries and looked completely unappetizing. No creativity, no flavor — just bland and basic. It felt like no effort was made at all.
The service didn’t improve. When I asked for the bill, the waiter tossed the receipt on the table without a word and walked away. I asked twice to pay by card, but no one returned. We ended up wasting precious time just trying to pay, eventually going to the counter ourselves. The staff seemed annoyed we paid by card, and despite everything, they still expected a tip.
We paid over €40 for this disappointing experience. For a place in such a beautiful town known for good food, this was a complete waste of time and money. I genuinely felt robbed — poor food, poor service, and absolutely not worth it.
I do not recommend this place.
