Google
This was a great find and one of our new favorite places. The studio cabin was perfect for my wife, two dogs and I for a long weekend. With so many lakes within walking distance, the restaurant and bar at the lodge, bike and kayak rentals - we felt like this was a steal. Will definitely be back as often as possible.

Our first stay at Tamarack Lodge and it was amazing! We enjoyed a complimentary cabin upgrade and it was beautiful, cozy and provided everything we needed. We were able to backcountry ski tour, right out of the cabin. The service was impeccable. The staff members that we interacted with, Donald, Bruce and Aldo, were more than friendly and helpful! We are already looking forward to a return trip. Thank you Tamarack Lodge and Resort!

Google
We had the most amazing experience thanks to David and Michael! We are so lucky to have found this hidden gem. We will be thinking about our experience until we come back. The views are incredible, the service impeccable, and Mammoth Lakes is so close you can run to town to experience everything it has to offer. We will be making this yearly trip a tradition. Can’t wait to come back!

Fantastic stay. Jeff, who works there and lives on property was very welcoming and a fantastic neighbor. I would highly recommend. We had a beautiful 3 bedroom with full kitchen and nice deck. Can’t beat the views and trails to walk. Trolly was nice to the Village, just would be nice if it runs later so we don’t get stuck after dinner. All in all, a great stay. Thank you!

Passing by Mammoth lakes on a road trip. Such a beautiful area we decided to stay a night to explore. So lucky to have found cabin 27 available for a last minute booking at Tamarack Lodge! LOVED it! Such a cute and cozy historic cabin. Bruce was the best! fabulous helpful host! We will definitely be back for a longer stay!

It is with regret we only stayed for one night. The area is amazing; peaceful, stunning, picturesque. After the bustle of Las Vegas it was great to take a breath of fresh air!||We were in cabin 6, a studio room. Decoratively, it was in keeping with the area. I’d say it was more geared towards the winter months, with a log burner and additional heater; however, none of these were needed in June. ||The bathroom was compact; however, had everything you needed. ||Breakfast was fine, very much a ‘help yourself’ affair, with bagels, toast, yoghurt etc. ||Staff were friendly and helpful. ||Our only gripe was that the bar within the lodge closed at 8pm! There is very little else you can do do within close proximity; you’ll need to drive if you want a bite to eat or a drink.

This hotel was booked very much on a whim and we couldn’t have been happier. We were allocated a one bedroom studio cabin which provided everything you could need. Very comfortable.||The scenery is spectacular, the staff are really helpful and the location is great. One word of caution, the town is a cab ride away and in June the cab companies do not work after 9pm.||A very special shout out for Bruce who not only gave a great check in service but came and collected us when we found ourselves stranded in town. Complete star!!

I had to cancel my reservation due to an active wildfire on the way to the hotel (700+ acres, roads closed, detour would add 6+ hours roundtrip). I called the hotel to explain the situation. Aldo, at the front desk was professional and helpful. He told me I could speak with the hotel manager the next day. And for now, he offered a 50% refund. I called again the next day and asked to speak with the manager. The hotel manager, Brian, is the RUDEST person I’ve ever met. At some point, I simply said ‘you are being condescending’ and I think that’s when he flipped. He had ZERO compassion towards the situation - I quote him ‘6 hours is not bad’, ‘we are not in the fire area’, and he literally hung on me, although I kept saying I had two more questions. I have never had such an experience with any hotel in my entire life. I wonder why some people feel entitled to treat people this way. Totally ruined our weekend and left us questioning what kind of business are they running to be so rude towards a customer to lose their complete trust and respect over $399?

Yelp
Decision, decisions- Organizing this fishing trip.. I decided to book a night at this lodge for next week. Easy to manage reservations online. And happy they have several discounts available.. anything helps.. I did upgrade to the cabin vs.. the studio- I need my bathtub!.. Also has a newer kitchen so you know I'm bringing my mokapot, and creamer-.. Who knows, maybe I'll pack groceries for dinner.. Hoping weather will be great for fishing- we usually come in September.. but will see.. Just got my confirmation - goes thru Mammoth Mountain reservations.

Yelp
Amazing hospitality. One of my favorite restaurants places to stay ever. I had a studio cabin right next to the lake with a view from my bed and dining table. The cabin came with a kitchen and cozy fireplace. It was a few mins to walk to see a waterfall. You can have a continental breakfast (included with resort fee) ready for you at a time you want and it can be delivered to your room, ready at the dining room, or takeout. It's basic but you can tell they thoughtfully picked items to be organic etc. The staff were super friendly and kind. Hope to be back again at some point!

Yelp
Such a cool spot in mammoth. We won't stay anywhere else. Beautiful location. The location is about an 5 minute drive away from the village. A shuttle takes you to the village as well as the ski slope. It's really a hidden gem.

Nancy P.

Yelp
Best place to stay ! Customer service is great ! Beautiful scenery views ! We actually got stuck out in town and Bruce the III from the front office was able to pick us up. Which we were so grateful.

David O O.

Yelp
Fantastic cabins in Mammoth Lakes! With Twin Lakes on the shore and Lakes mary, George, and Mamie nearby, this is paradise. The cabins are equipped like a 4-star hotel, with kitchenettes too. We came in late October so the colors were changing. It was definitely Gods country. My only issue is ghat the master bathtub drained very slowly. Hopefully that gets fixed. We are definitely coming back.

Yelp
Location could not get any better. Right on twin lakes, with kayak and bike rental next door. You can just hop on the hiking and biking trails. We stayed at the top of lodge which is their 2 bedroom/1 bathroom/kitchen/living/dining area. Downside is that the bathroom is only accessible through one of the bedrooms. This is very annoying if the other people in your party have to use the toilet at night. On the website they make it seem it is like Jack/Jill style bathroom but it is not. The lodge is old but has its charm. The entire location could use some TlC. The another thing we were bothered by is that the bedroom that is connected to the bathroom has no windows. It actually feels more like a closet than a bedroom. The restaurant behind the lodge has a really loud vent that you can hear very loudly throughout the night. It really destroys the quietness of the surroundings. Unsure if we would return. Maybe we'll try a cabin next time. One that lays far enough from the main lodge.

Yelp
Always helpful and kind staff. Clean and well kept. Homie log cabin feel. Always have a fire going to keep you warm.

S C.

Yelp
The cabins are individually spaced. Very close to the lake and all ski resort Lodges. Easy access through the shuttles. Warm water, nice gas fire heater. The only reason it's not 5 star is the WiFi is TERRIBLE. can only stay connected 2 feet from the router If you have work to get done during your trip or want to try to surf the web for dinner spots or other locations in town. This is not the place. Barely any service in the cabin itself and like I said Wi-Fi will not stay connected at all

Yelp
Staying here in Wintertime was truly a special experience. There's a unique charm to this place, from our cozy, tv-less, cabin in the snow, to chess and hot cocoa in the piano lounge.. It was as if we were privy to going back in time to a quieter, slower, world. With an easy shuttle to Mammoth Mountain, and even easier access to miles of trails just outside our cabin door, I can't imagine a more ideal place to launch our adventures. The staff, specifically Tim R., was a lovely complement to the vibe. Tim is the epitome of Exceptional Customer Service. He went above and beyond to create a positive and memorable experience for us. In fact, the only reason we booked this stay was because we visited the resort earlier this year after snowshoeing in the area with our dog. Tim was refreshingly genuine and took the time to tell us about the property, as well as the affordable pet policy and Ikon passholder discounts. We booked on the spot. He remembered, welcomed us as if we were long lost friends, and continued to be a bright light each time we saw him on grounds. He is truly an asset to their team. We had a great week and will return for sure.

Yelp
I wish I could give Tamarack Lodge 20 stars! It was our first trip to Mammoth & I can't even begin to tell you how incredible our stay was. We stayed in Cabin 15. It was the cutest coziest cabin located near a beautiful lake with gorgeous views. The staff treats you like family. Everyone who works there made us feel so welcomed from the second we arrived to the moment we left. If we needed extra blankets, wood for the fireplace, more heaters and help with luggage in the snow.. it was met with a smile and amazing hospitality. Manny, Bruce, Brian and Victoria thank you so much for making this stay to Mammoth such a wonderful and memorable one. We will definitely be back!

CJ P.

Yelp
What a lovely mountain retreat, old world charm mixed with rustic comfort. Such friendly and helpful staff and excellent job at maintaining a truly wilderness vibe while providing all necessary amenities. We couldn't have enjoyed it more. Caught a nice big rainbow trout right in front of the lodge at Twin Lakes. First time fishing and using a dough ball for bait We gutted and cleaned it and fried it up with butter right in our cabin within minutes of catching it and it was utterly delicious. Such a treasure. It had hardly changed since my husband visited over 30 years ago. Love that!!

Johana S.

Yelp
We love to visit Mammoth Lakes every year and we make it a tradition to stay at Tamarack Lodge. We had such an excellent experience with Manuel Marquez! Everyone is always to friendly but Manny was just great!

Ray H.

Yelp
We had an amazing stay at the lodge. We were treated so kindly and even spoiled by the staff!! The cabin was so cozy and peaceful!!

Joey R.

Yelp
My wife booked us a cabin here for four nights back in July for my birthday in May. There was still snow around our cabin so we had to park down on the road and carry all our stuff and food up the hill. This cabin had a king size bed and there is a fireplace and three additional propane heaters in this cabin. Most of the windows are just single pane and they have a lot of windows and that is where they lose most of the energy from. The cabins were built many years ago and they probably need some insulation in the walls and floor and ceiling. At the night it was getting down to 19*f and the days was in the upper 50's or 60's. Our cabin was #21, each cabin is different size and some are two levels. This place is very beautiful. We could see the lake from our cabin. Our cabin did not have a T.V., but who would want to waste their precious time watching tv when you have the beautiful nature just outside. I highly recommend this place to others.

Stephanie W.

Yelp
Rented Kayaks and SUP on the lake. Staff was fast and friendly. Took them out for 2 hours which was perfect to explore twin lakes and the waterfall.

Eric P.

Yelp
We love the Twin Lakes area and were excited to stay at Tamarack Lodge especially given the highly positive reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was mediocre at best. As expected, we loved the trees and mountains and quiet mornings, and we got to watch the sunrise paint the cliff, listen to the birds, and explore the lakes. The cabin itself (a studio) was just OK. The finishes and furnishings were quaint but sufficient, and at half the price would have been a steal. Even with the IKON pass discount, though, drastically overpriced for what you get: dingy carpet, beat-up furniture, barebones kitchen with a match-light stove, bathroom too small to bend over the sink or turn around in the shower. We do not at all recommend this place if you're bringing pets. They charge a pet fee per pet, per night; with no cap - so if you have two dogs and are staying a week, expect to pay over $400 before you even get to the room rate. This is obviously asinine, but the supervisor Josh refused to discuss a discount or cap. They also don't mention this until you're already all the way through the booking process. All the maintenance staff we ran into were friendly and helpful, but the front desk staff ranged from disinterested to outright rude. We will not stay here again until they change the pet fee policy, and will probably look for more reasonably priced lodging even then. It is a pity because the area is so beautiful.

michael E.

Yelp
Cancelled our prepaid reservation just days before check in and offered no alternative bookings at another property.

Yelp
I've stayed here a few times, only in the Studio Cabins, and have enjoyed myself. Its rustic, but it does have internet so I'm not totally unconnected. No TV, however they do allow you to borrow a DVD player and have a reasonable choice of movies. The Studio cabins come in slighty different sizes. The last one we stayed in was tiny, with a small fridge, a small shower, and limited storage space. We survived, however, though I will definitely make inquiries the next time I book. Was told that was what I should do to ensure a larger kitchen. Snow was abundant the times I have gone, and the shuttle to the mountain has been delayed for avalanche control at least twice. As a tip on the shuttle, ask to be let off at the tunnel and huff it to the Eagle Lodge trail in order to avoid having an extended transport by going to the village. The trip from the Village back is not too bad, but the other way (particularly if you are eager to SKI) seems to take forever. There is cross country skiing and snowshoeing at the property, if you are so inclined. The stay at the lodge (as well as an IKON pass) gets you 20% off. For a relaxing visit away from the crowds, in a quaint setting, I recommend.

Dawn K.

Yelp
Had a great stay! Enjoyed being out with nature but also coming back to our cozy cabin with a little fire for warmth going on.

Cyndi R.

Yelp
We stayed here over our child's Spring Break. We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin. The atmosphere of the place is amazing. The lodge is so cozy and welcoming. There was still snow, and we did have to hike up the snow to get to our cabin, but the staff made steps out of the snow so we used those. We stayed in one of the older cabins, the new ones looked really nice! We opted out of breakfast as we just brought our own food to make. They have a kitchen with fridge, oven, stove and microwave. We took the free shuttle into town and it was convenient and timely. We drove to the mountain to ski and it's only a 5 minute drive. The foldout couch wasn't super comfy ... but what do you expect? The only thing that didn't work well was the wifi, but that's welcome - shouldn't be on our devices anyway :) I would definitely come back!

Rachel M.

Yelp
Tamarack Lodge offers various accommodations including cabins at different price ranges. Located in front of Twin Lakes, it's the perfect spot to do summertime activities in Mammoth if you are interested biking, fishing, hiking, or just enjoying the view. During the wintertime, it becomes a cross country skiing area. My husband recently stayed in one of the lodge rooms with a private bathroom. It's an old lodge and has been around since 1924 according to the sign. Our room was small but very cozy. I liked the grapefruit bergamot scented toiletries. There's no TV, but you can request one. It's not the quietest room because we heard nearby footsteps. The staff was very friendly and attentive from check-in to check-out. I like that they offered a continental breakfast unlike other Mammoth properties like Mammoth Mountain Inn and Juniper Springs. It wasn't a bad spot for one night, but I'm not sure I would stay here again. There is also a $23 resort fee.

Neeta P.

Yelp
I previously stayed here November 2021, and then when thinking about where to stay for my 40th this lodge immediately came to mind. I booked a few different cabins for my group of 16. I called several times prior to arrival and worked with Josh to get things squared away. This Lodge stayed true to my last review, everything was fantastic. The cabins were clean, cozy and wonderful. Breakfast service was prompt and timely, All questions, and millions of my calls were addressed right away. We even had an issue with check in and one of the rooms was not what I booked but they went above and beyond to help me address it and fix it. I had the most amazing time and will be staying here time and time again! Thank you to Josh, Brian, and Renee for all of your help on this trip and for making my 40th amazing!

Phil D.

Yelp
We ate there last night with a party of five and we all loved it. It is a very small, old fashioned, all wood lined dining room. Imagine it was built in the early 1900s, like it was, and that is what it looks like. So if you're looking for something that is ultra modern, and what I call soulless, don't bother. But if you want a great meal with excellent, caring, staff in a traditional setting please try it. There was a short menu with five appetizers and five mains. Since there was five of us, and all looked good, we ordered one of each. So, uniquely, we can say we tried it all and loved every dish. One of our party is a certified sommelier and we brought our own wine and they charged a reasonable corkage charge. Since it was a 35 year old wine the staff took great care to uncork it with care, decant and pour with profession. We absolutely loved our server and I feel terrible to say that we do not remember her name. But hats off to her for being the right combination of informative, friendly, attentive and professional and she never forgot to smile. All in all let me suggest you try it in your next visit to Mammoth and I love you love it as much as we did. Bon appetite.

Paul R.

Yelp
Location, location, location! If you love the outdoors, Tamarack Lodge is for you! It's located just a stone's throw from Twin Lakes and within a few miles of several other of the Mammoth Lakes. Additionally, the staff is fantastic, service excellent and the cabins are quaint. We heard nothing but rave reviews on the on-site restaurant, but we were having so much fun outdoors, we didn't get a chance to partake. Next visit, for sure though! On weekends, the area gets rather busy, so try to book weekdays. Aside from that, Tamarack is perfect!

Maria S.

Yelp
What a beautiful and serene mountain getaway! We love that these cabins and rooms are away from the hustle and bustle of main street Mammoth, but still close enough to allow us to enjoy the activities and restaurants there. The Tamarack Lodge has excellent hiking, kayaking, and biking right on site! We were able to get in at least two outings a day despite having a 1 year old and our pup in tow. The service from the staff was excellent, and they even remembered our anniversary! Can't wait to celebrate at the on-site fine dining restaurant for our final night in Mammoth. We will be back soon!!

Anonymous A.

Yelp
We had such a wonderful stay at this resort that even I was impressed! Brian and Renee at the front desk were incredible to deal with even when we checked in during the worst storm in Mammoth recent history. Sometimes you can really see the true culture of a company when things go wrong and the recovery from it is amazing. We stayed in one of the cabins, it was gorgeous, convenient and puppy friendly. The inside lobby bar and restaurant we also absolutely fantastic. I will never stay anywhere else when we come to Mammoth! Thank you for all of your hard work and kindness to everyone there!

Judith G.

Yelp
We absolutely love the Tamarack Lodge! The cabins are cozy, comfortable, well-appointed, clean, and surprisingly affordable. The staff is wonderful and really goes out of their way to make your experience special. We love gathering with our family in the great room of the lodge and dinner there is special. For us, the quiet beauty of Twin Lakes is the reason we love being there, so the off-season of October is our preferred time to visit. It's quiet at this time and uncrowded. The sun will be shining, and the air will be crisp.

Mary B.

Yelp
This is at least the fourth time staying here at Tamarack Lodge. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. The continental breakfast is satisfying (although the hard boiled eggs are awful to peel, they need my recipe) We have had cabin 16 & 17 which are perfect for the two of us. The cabin has a king size bed, small bathroom with a shower and small kitchen with a sink, stove and small refrigerator. Both are located directly across from Twin Lakes and an easy walk to the shoreline My reason for four stars is that we spent much time trying to get a cabin with a view. We had cabin 17 before and have been pleased with it, Unfortunately this time there is moisture between the panes of the window. I realize this cannot be fixed instantly but I am sure we are not the first people to stay in this cabin with this issue and this should either be fixed before the next guest arrival or warn people when they are reserving this cabin about the issue. I would highly recommend staying here it's just unfortunate this trip has been hampered by this window issue.

Aidan H.

Yelp
I don't understand how this place isn't a 5 star hotel. The customer service is good, and thanks to David, the check in went through smoothly. Although the room may seem small, it has all of your amenities and it is very comfy! It also comes with a kitchen-- nice! The view is nice, too! Although there is no TV, you can request one and they will give you a TV at no extra cost. You can also borrow movies like ET, Hulk, or Harry Potter! Also, in the COVID-19 pandemic, there is social distancing. All of the lodges were mire than 6 feet apart, nice! The hotel is 15 minutes away from Mammoth if you are a skier. If you are going to Mammoth, this is the place to stay.

Eden S.

Yelp
It's a perfect place to stay, far enough away yet close enough to it all. I love the cabins and the wonderful staff. 2 things I need when away from home is a gym and a TV.... that would have made my stay perfect!

Nancy M.

Yelp
We just so enjoyed our Thanksgiving holiday at the Tamarack Lodge. Had our own 2 bedroom cabin and a wonderful turkey dinner at the Lakeside restaurant. Beautiful surroundings and wonderful, friendly staff!!! Very memorable!

Mouse 2.

Yelp
I liked the food was great I had the cheeseburger and they give you a giant beef patty in the middle. I had the potato salad it was good the potatoes need to be cooked more but can't complain. I don't go to outdoor restaurants but the out door seating here was great and there is a good view of the lake. And the area is cool in temperature with a nice breeze. Will be back if I'm in the area till next time :)

Diana Dīlee D.

Yelp
Quiet, beautiful and rustic. I really enjoyed my stay at this lodge right on part of Mammoth Lakes. They have hiking Trails and offer continental breakfast.

Rose Marie A.

Yelp
**Review is for the cabins only** We have stayed here, in the cabins, once in 2017 and recently in March. All cabins are dog friendly. Also Wi-Fi is available with a few cabins (from what I could find with my Wi-Fi finder) however no TV or cable, this is the rustic appeal. The second time around, I brought my laptop and caught up on my Netflix list. The doggie bag dispenser (single) are located by the Orange Line bus stop. For those wanting to visiting the lake, there's parking available, facing the lake and up the road, near the road closed signage. This is the start of the public access, most people park there and snow shoe in/or cross ski. The cabins all look rustic from the outside, when we stayed in 2017, I believe it w as around Memorial Day weekend, the inside were somewhat modern. The bedroom had carpet and wood flooring in the kitchen, the bathroom had stone flooring, with large shower (no tub) and toilet, with a pedestal sink. The bedroom had a door that lead to the kitchen, that included a full size oven and apartment size fridge and freezer. From the kitchen, was the front door, to the small deck equipped with two Adirondack chairs, with a peek-a-boo view of the lake. Back to the bedroom, it had a small table and chairs. From the front desk, we were able to borrow a TV/DVD player and borrowed a few DVD's from their small library. Pretty cool. During the day time, we took a stroll to around the Twin Lake Falls and the Twin Lake Vista. I've also taken the free bus shuttle into town, with my dog, leased and muzzled, and walked around town. Included with the resort fees: - (in the lobby) they offer continental breakfast from 7:30 am-9:30am, which includes bagels, toast, muffins, scones (my fave), cereal/granola, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee, and tea. - Wi-Fi internet, they will give you a network ID and password with your check in packet. - TV w/ DVD players; also they have board games to take to your cabin. - At the Mammoth Mountain Inn: use of pool& jacuzzui (they have restricted times, so check with the front desk) and the fitness room (24 hrs), I have use this and is helpful to have access to this. - BBQ and fire pit/campfire areas (summer only/fire burning regulations permitting; check with the front desk) - Airport pickup for commercial flights - Unlimited local and 1-800 numbers phone calls - Incoming/Outgoing faxes and copy service We had reservations at the restaurant, The Lakefront Restaurant. Tables placed at the window, have the lake view, of course if you come during winter, the lake is covered in snow, but the view is still pretty. Food is top-notch and when we stayed here, we got fed a healthy amount. These are not small plates and the price proves it. Check it out: https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-lakefront-restaurant-mammoth-lakes However we did had to wait 45 minutes for our appetizers but they did make it up to us by having us sample the foie gras, which was so velvety, smooth, just like butter. Our cabin, this week (2018), had a rustic look, however there was a rail on both sides. This was a studio, which is perfect for two adults and a small dog. The kitchen had a apartment size oven, which was adequate for what we wanted to make our daily meals, kitchen also included a coffee maker (w/ filters), coffee and tea brand 'Farmer Brothers', microwave (apartment size), toaster, knives set, with variety of pots and pans, two small fryer pans, tea kettle. This cabin had a brand new heater installed, so we had hot water available, no long wait. The fridge was just that. The freezer portion was big enough to hold ice cubes trays. This time around, there's been snow (small amounts each day) all week along, so my boyfriend being a season pass holder, had really enjoyed himself! I liked having to walk/get around without a car. Hiking paths are easily accessible using the bus shuttle (free service) as long as snow is not in the way. The staff is professional, friendly and helpful. We even got courtesy calls when they will be performing Avalanche controls in the mornings, usually around 7/730 am. Overall, I've really enjoyed our stay here and will continue to make Tamarack my favorite place to stay when in Mammoth.

Stephanie R.

Yelp
I've been going to Tamarack Lodge for over 30 years. Just came back from an amazing week in a cabin that overlooks Twin Lakes. Luckily, the camp grounds were still closed and the weather perfect and no one was there. Walking though the forest to Lake Mary, pure heaven. The staff at the Lodge couldn't have been more helpful. Rene, David, Biian... everyone was genuine and kind. Who ever does the hiring here deserves a raise! If you want to party hardy, this isn't the place for you. Stay in town in one of the new condos. If on the other hand, you want to be in nature, and hear the wind in the trees, stay here. Great place!

Clara W.

Yelp
Cozy and rustic! I stayed in a 1 bedroom cabin with my husband and our chocolate lab puppy for two nights in April and overall had a positive experience. Also a plus that this place is dog-friendly! Location: Beautiful, quiet, close to a lake and hiking trails. Only 5-10 minutes away from town. Front Desk/Customer Service: Warm and very welcoming. The guy who checked us in gave us great recs on dog-friendly restaurants in town and was really helpful and kind. Room: We had a small fireplace which kept the cabin nice and toasty -- we loved it. The bathroom was updated, clean, and with a standing shower. I wasn't a fan of the shampoo/conditioner (felt like gel) so I recommend bringing your own shampoo if that's something you're particular about. It was convenient to also have a stove, fridge, pots/pans, microwave, and coffee maker -- we got groceries and made lunch. Breakfast: They set up coffee, toast, cereal, boiled eggs, bagels, and mini muffins, which was nice. It was awkwardly quiet in the dining area, might be nice to have ambiance music playing. Other things to know: The lodges are rustic, simple, and cozy - perfect for a chill relaxing getaway for the laid-back traveler. No TV, which was totally fine with us (but there's Wifi!) :) . I'm giving 4/5 stars since there was some trash laying outside our cabin and the property could use some updating; aside from that, its a wonderful place to stay.

Yelp
Stayed for 3 days at the lodge main building - European style rooms. Great clean bathrooms and shower! Small rooms, very rustic woodsy feel. Thin walls - you can hear snoring next door. Nice room service daily. Breakfast was perfect - continental and just enough to get you going. Noticed some spoiled visitors found the breakfast inadequate - complaining they did not offer a full breakfast. Remember folks, this is a rustic lodge - not your Holiday Inn, Hilton or Marriotts.... Great location on the lake - fished there morning and evening every day! I would stay again but next time it will be a cabin. Side note: Their restaurant in the same lodge was very bad - see my other review (Lakefront Restaurant).....

Yelp
This is a beautiful resort on Twin Lakes. Cabins, not rooms, are the accommodations, and even have a kitchenette, fridge, stove, etc. It's rustic-looking with a capital R. There are thermostat-controlled "fireplaces" that add a very nice touch, and some much-needed heat. A big perk is being able to park right in front of the individual cabins, though it can be tight for a Toyota Tacoma, as we learned the hard way. This is a beautiful place to stay in Mammoth for the "full effect" of being up in the mountains. Watch out for bears (seriously. They told us to remove anything even remotely resembling food from our cars) and for altitude headaches.

Yelp
Brian and his Team are incredible. Words can't describe their efforts. The Tamarack Lodge family went above and beyond to make us feel at home and special. We came here to take our engagement photos and celebrate our birthdays-- all of which is the perfect photo-op spot and the most superb customer service and hospitality. Definitely hands down the best snow cabin we have ever been to. I am so happy and can't wait to recommend all our friends and family. Thank YOU SO SO MUCH to the Tamarack Lodge for an unforgettable experience. Best place to stay at Mammoth Lakes!!!!!!

Yelp
I arrived at the lodge on Tuesday, April 13th, 2021 and spent 3 nights there. Just my dog and me. I stayed in cabin 8 and loved it! Beautiful view, cozy, and it had everything I needed. The WiFi was great and I was able to listen to my music and watch some TV shows on my laptop at night before going to bed. I went to the lodge lobby nightly and enjoyed a couple of beers while socializing by the big wood-burning fireplace. The staff was GREAT! So friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and personable & professional in every way. Seriously... they couldn't have been better. It's located only a few minutes from town and so easy to get to. The scenery is gorgeous all around. I'm telling friends & family about it and strongly suggesting to them to go explore the Mammoth area and to stay at the Tamarack Lodge. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
If I could give zero stars I would. First, at $499 a night not a single window stayed in. See photos. Woke up to bugs everywhere. Then- at lunch with 12 people, literally 12, I was told no take out, it "makes the kitchen mad & they are MAX CAPACITY!" 12 people!!!!!' I was trying to get food for someone not feeling well with low blood sugar, they could care less. How can a place advertise lunch & charge this much NOT ACCOMMODATE THEIR GUESTS?!?!

Yelp
The lodge is in the most beautiful location with great views of the backside of Mammoth Mountain and the lakes. You can easily walk, bike, hike, or boat from the lodge without getting in the car. The town of Mammoth is a quick straight shot 5 minute drive away. We started off staying in the main lodge in a room, which we noted was impressively almost 100 years old but very comfortable and cute. We ended up having a plumbing issue (can't blame the place being so old) and the staff moved us to an entire standalone cabin within an hour of the issue. The cabin was very generous and we were so grateful for the top quality customer service. I'd definitely stay again despite the issue we encountered. Such a fun rustic vibe and beautiful location!

Yelp
Had a great relaxing weekend celebrating our 16 year anniversary. Brought kids with us and thought we would try some XC skiing to change it up. Didn't get to XC ski but had a great time on a snow hike to Lake Mary and just fun snow play around. Cabin. We stayed in cabin 5, deluxe 1 bedroom with a loft, 1 full bath and 1 half bath. Cabin sleeps 5. It was cute, cozy, and clean. We cooked both nights in cabin and had enough of the basic supplies to get the job done. There are no TVs at Tamarack but you can request a dvd with monitor. We watched about 5 movies while we were there. A bit pricey, but we had a great relaxing weekend. I cannot wait to come back! The only reason for 4 stars and not 5, was that the couch was a little dusty (could have used a good vacuum), the recliner chair was on its last legs, and the spiral staircase was super scary--the steps were slippery. Al in all it was a great weekend. My husband, kids, and I enjoyed the stay!

Yelp
Last night we ate at the Tamara Lodge. We came early and enjoyed a drink in the bar while listening to Bob play beautiful tunes on the piano. Our meal was delicious. The smoked tomatoe soup and the scallops on top of sweet potato pancakes were outstanding. The best part of our evening was our server Kate. She was not only efficient and a good server but she was friendly, personable and funny. We will be back!!!

Yelp
The food and service was Very good. I made a dinner date there for my wife and myself. For a gourmet meal we were quite full. The soup de jour was excellent as recommended by our waiter Brian. Our main meals or should say entrees were excellent also. Price was a little more than planned but the dining experience more than made up for it. So make a dinner date with your wife or significant other and enjoy a pleasant evening. Friends make it all the better. Staff and manager are really enjoyable.

Yelp
This place is the best ever. It's the first place I have ever stayed in mammoth and it's the only place I'll ever stay at. The location is perfect , the staff in super nice. I've never had one problem while staying there. We love this spot so much we plan on getting married right at Twin lakes as while staying there as a guest. We love this place so much and have stayed there so many times. We have also got others hooked on this place! Guaranteed you'll love it. Added: Because me and my now husband love this place so much we decided to get married here. We brought our parents up and had the intimate ceremony in front of the first lake with the water fall. It was beautiful and amazing!

Yelp
The short & sweet: cozy little cabins w/ lots of privacy, ample parking, a simple breakfast, AMAZING FIREPLACE in room, clean, ok wi-fi, fast hot water, no tvs, great location & friendly staff! LOBBY: DVDs are available for rent & they can also lend you some "monitors" to view them on since none of the cabins have tvs. The DVDs kind of reminded me of a Redbox or Netflix selection. Nothing very new or awesome in their collection. This lodge seems kinda "behind in the times" but I like to think of this aspect as "traditional" and makes for an even better experience. TVs & tech can be distractions sometimes. It felt more like a getaway in my opinion without it in the room. The lodge also sells some little snacks too. Open until 11pm. BREAKFAST: They serve bagels, cereals, milk, hard boiled eggs, coffee, and tea. Very simple. It would have been nice to have some hot cocoa/cider, waffles/pancakes, and scrambled eggs/sausage. Although we did get some hot cider when we checked in! Score! Soooo goood. ROOM: Stayed in a private cabin with our own bath. It was pretty awesome! Fireplace worked really well & there was an extra portable, stand up heater in case you wanted to have that in the bathroom/kitchen (those two rooms get pretty chilly). Kitchen had dishes/utensils/cleaning supplies/mini fridge & freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, etc. Pretty well stocked. Restroom was oddly shaped. It was rectangular so I kept finding myself up against the wall but it was ok. There was a hairdryer which was nice. Wish there was more storage space in there to put toiletries though. However- we were stocked with a TON of towels. It was wonderful. Hot water was great. Never ran out & it wouldn't take long to warm up in sink/shower, which was something I was afraid of. There was also an ADORABLE towel animal too! And 2 chocolate coins! So cute. Bed was clean, comfortable, and the blankets kept me warm. Loved the literature and materials in the room. Lots of info on dining options & things to do in the area. Very helpful for me since I'd never been to Mammoth. SURROUNDINGS/ LOCATION: Beautiful! Like something you imagine out of a book or movie. Very scenic. Surrounded by mountains and there seems to be a lake just steps away as well. It's esp gorgeous when there's lots of fresh snow atop the roofs of the cabins. The view outside the windows of the cabin is wonderful! Lots of snow everywhere & definitely made me feel like I was on vacay! Loved it. Minutes away from Minaret (the Village) and the Premium Outlets are just down the street! Umm...and gas stations and food too, but most importantly, outlets. Am I right, ladies?! Plus, you can take the (free) Orange Line shuttle over to the Village to begin your day skiing/boarding. It takes maybe 10 minutes tops. Free shuttle runs daily but when I was there last weekend, the first shuttle of the day was at 9:15 am, which might not be ideal for serious vacationers who want to be on the slopes right at opening. The shuttle is literally right outside the main lobby area. Super convenient. But they leave right on the dot, so be on time! Especially coming back! CONS: The knob on the shower kinda fell apart on me right when I turned it & also a screw fell out of the long metal part that helps the door close, so that was a little problematic. I also saw 3 spiders! Overall, loved it & would come back again with a larger group and maybe stay in one of the 2 story cabins!

Yelp
Loved the location- on the lake and the lodge decor- super cozy; and Carson is an amazing bartender... the bee's knees was perfect There are great cabins, trails and options for ski lessons as well.
