Great small bar, friendly bar tenders, nice venue!

Went for a comedy show. Great atmosphere and great people.

The reviews & website are outdated - it looks like in the past this place was a cool location with interesting food & cocktail offerings. Currently, it’s a divey lefty bar. It’s good for what it is - but I visited expecting something better and was disappointed. Please update your website.

Very very different cafe, nice people and different environment

Wonderful! This is my new favorite place in Oakland, everyone there is amazing and so is the food and the atmosphere.

The people here are so incredibly kind. Last night, I stumbled to this bar drunk off my ass after being robbed. They got me an uber and made sure I got home safe. They got me water while I waited (the bar was closed.) I'd never been in there. The bar is very cute and comfortable and has a home-like feel. I'll definitely be back during business hours. But also. Holy shit, y'all. Thank you so much for getting me home safe.

A friend was in the area and been assaulted, these fine folks took her in and made sure she was safe, then absorbed the cost of getting her home safely. This is the kind of business that should be status quo like that, but rarely is anymore. I'll support them next time in SF with my money, and want to make sure the kind of folks they are are known so the locals can also show support. Dog bless them.

I went here to help support the cause. I gifted a donation. The members wouldn't even look at me and my friend. He is brown. So I felt really out of place and he felt embarrassed. Don't bother.

Great food, great service, value for money and the staff really go the extra mile. Will definetly be back here when I'm next in town.

Tamarack is an eclectic cafe/eatery collective endeavor from counterculture enclaves in oaktown. it replaces an office space. Tamarack is a low key meeting space for people who want to hang out in noncorporate ambience. offerings: dinner, cocktails, drafts, snacks, specials eats: special: buy a pastry, get 8 oz. coffee free -chocolate n. chuck cookie a biggie, with choc notes and salt enhancers -"Mother tongue" coffee former associate of Intellgentsia and Blue bottle -coffee a hubris of smooth intellgentsia and mid bold Blue bottle notes. sweet spot not experienced before. i like it. leftovers: -not an "hype". "hot and new" place to be. just a place to hang out with friends and associates.... -2nd floor seating available.

I never did make it to Tamarack, but there's a wonderful new pop up in the same space now. I just got the quiche with collards and kale. So delicious! The greens have a really nice oil-n-vinegar dressing, and the quiche is hearty without being heavy. And the portions are not stingy! Zee's also sells bbq chicken, a dessert, and other items.

Geeat food and comfortable atmosphere I definitely recommend. The owner is very friendly and helpful you should try their cheese plate and beets toast. They have seasonal tap beer which is best one.

The spot for drinks with close friends, especially since this bar was formed by a group of friends. Nearly everything in this place was put in by the owners and it is GORGEOUS. They have a natural wood bar, handcrafted cocktails, and $3 tecate - what else do you need? Get the Earl Gray Old Fashion; you won't be disappointed.

Amazing atmosphere, queer karoke with awesome queer and trans people. Gender neutral bathroom, stairs to main dining area, accessible seating downstairs, rotating menu, amazing food and awesome staff. I love this place. Such a great community asset.

Stumbled upon this gem today. Great beverages and food options. Love the anti-establishment decor. Highly recommend for a cocktail or a meal with friends.

Today was their first time serving lunch. IT DOES NOT DISAPPOINT!! I ordered the Biscuit Plate. Yes I will return (if this review is too long for you) Biscuit : Fried Chicken - Coleslaw, Fried Chicken, Onion Jam (I think it's a jam) Salad: Pea Salad - Arugula, snap peas, chickpeas, and some kind of homemade dressing Potatoes: Fried Fingerling Potatoes - Seasoned with Chili Flakes, served with a Mint Yogurt and Chili Ketchup. The biscuit was soft , not dry and fluffy, like I prefer. So immediately was in love with that. The chicken was VERY well seasoned with a hint of spiciness to it. The coleslaw was and onion combination just took it over the top. It was the perfect chicken biscuit, elevated. The Salad was unexpected. There is a choice of pea or Chaat. I don't know what Chaat is and peas aren't my favorite, so I let the cook choose. She opted for the pea salad and it was light, crunchy, flavorful and a nice balance to the spice potatoes. The potatoes made me smile. Honestly, it is a cute, slight variation of a normal sandwich side, and well worth purchasing. They were crispy, not crunchy, soft in the middle and just a little spicy. I don't like the mint yogurt with the potatoes, but would eat it on something else, and LOVED the chili ketchup with the potatoes. What I should mention is that the vibe is a little hippyish... the customers in there were no bra wearing, no deodorant wearing, marijuana smelling free spirited kind of folks. Books of Anti this, Anti that... No feeling about it either way, just an observation. As I mentioned earlier, I will return.

Tonight I had a birthday party here upstairs and the staff made it so special for me, bringing out all kinds of food and then we had an impromptu dance party. Everything here was just right. The upstairs space. The lighting. The ambience. The people. And I love that I got to enjoy it all and support a collective.

Great food and cocktails!!! Great vibe inside and an added plus is that it's a co op!
