The Showdown Bar Opens in North Beach with Late-Night Food - Eater SF
"Before the Showdown and Tamarind Hall, the corner location was Italian restaurant La Pantera Cafe, whose name the Showdown has sprinkled about its new menu." - Caleb Pershan
North Beach Thai Restaurant Tamarind Hall Is Closing - Eater SF
"Tamarind Hall was the first food venture for Salisa Skinner, a Bangkok-born law school grad turned restaurateur. After she opened the restaurant, Skinner had two children back-to-back, and has decided to devote her attention to them. 'I’m quite heartbroken having to make this tough decision,' she says. Her restaurant and bar —popular for its khao soy, spicy 'knockout' wings, and cocktails — was doing well financially, she says. But Skinner didn’t want to see the quality slip. 'I’m not the kind of person who can do a sloppy job,' she says. 'I can’t not be here all the time.'" - Caleb Pershan
Great location and great prices.
All food we had today was delicious. The serving sizes were also really filling. Totally enjoyed it.
Service provided was perfect. But as there weren’t any other customers at that time it shouldn’t have been an issue.
Definitely worth a visit for Thai food lovers and also those looking for economical food places with seating and quick service.
Our order:
Thai green curry veggie
Pad Thai with beef
Spring rolls
Soup was complimentary with lunch. That was a good add on too.

Fantastic! Must be the best food I’ve had for months and I live in the Bay Area. Our waiter is also very friendly and attentive. Would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Great authentic Thai food. The same as what I’ve tasted in Bangkok.

Probably our best meal in SFO during this trip! We loved (loved!) the Tom Yung Gong Soup. The Chicken Satay was also perfectly prepared.
Friendly service. Fun interior. Highly recommended!

We also had the mango salad plus the pictures of foods posted. Very busy and the food was delicious. My favorite was the vegetable roll and mango salad followed by the pad Thai

This is one of the best gourmet Thai restaurant I have visited in San Francisco. Food was extremely delicious. Drunken Noodles (Pad Kee Mao) with chicken was simply amazing. Got to meet chef Skinner and very impressed with her personal attention to the customers. Well can't beat the buy one and get one free cocktails. Must visit restaurant in SF.
