Went to this restaurant for dinner with a couple of friends. The ambiance is really nice, food was great, good quantity. We ordered Apollo fish, this dish was really yummy Hakka noodles, this was close to Indian but a little too much salt for my liking Sheekh Kabab, was good but a little dry, we got Naan along with this and it was nice and fresh Do not order chicken biryani it was way below average!!!!! Over all the restaurant is great, well priced and nice for Indian food!!!

Food was not bad except for the noodles which was too oily. Ordered an IPA but the nice waitress tried her best and came back and said they're out of all the draft beers. So I ordered a double bourbon and she came back with what looked like a single. I don't blame her, this is the issue with ordering drinks at Indian restaurants. They don't know pour measures. Plus I got charged a lot more than what was on the menu. I didn't want to stress her out - she was super nice. We just paid and left.

Food: In terms of taste and authenticity, it’s more than awesome! The rice served with dal makhani was done in ghee, and was perfect in color, shape and softness. Dal makhani had an awesome creamy smooth taste. Two complains: they do not heat the dessert (carrot halwa or gulag jamun) and, they do not give cutlery (no spoons and forks - eh!) Price: Well here’s how they play - they slightly over price everything. The portions are good enough, but the price (a bit) high, but I’d give heads up for it for the taste and authenticity. Overall, I see myself ordering from here every evening (PS they have a 35$ min requirement)

The restaurant was clean, had good ambiance, and good food. The staff was friendly. I wish they have more vegetarian choices for appetizers other than that good experience.

Google
The food was excellent, and the service by the host lady was phenomenal. It was my first time eating Indian food and they did everything possible so I could have a great experience. I will absolutely recommend this restaurant to my family and friends.

Google
Decent place, not great service. We went here with family and they all seemed in a rush. The food didn't really taste great or Indian. Paneer was not soft, lot of tomato in gravy.. I won't recommend this place. The only good part was a guy playing Violin which was excellent.

Google
We a decent experience at Tamarind for dinner. The starters were good but the main course which was chicken tikka masala was really tangy where you could clearly feel tomato purée was used or the prep was pre made.

This is the best local Indian restaurant we've tried! There are a few restaurants closer, but its worth the extra 10 minute drive to this place. Beware... the medium level is still pretty spicy. I've been eating Indian food since I was a kid and my mouth was on fire. But it was still delicious! And the portions are bigger than anywhere else. You basically get two meals for one. We got the Tikka and the Korma and both sauces had good flavor. My husband and I always order samosas when we try a new Indian restaurant (that's how we judge if it's going to be good or not) and they were perfectly cooked! We'll definitely be back :)

Yelp
Chicken Amritsari was the highlight , the gravy is super delicious. Recommend the resturant.

Yelp
Place continues to be one of our favorite goto place. We typically get lot of appetizers, they have great selections and we truly enjoy them. We order Paneer Taco, Biryani, Paneer 65, and Manchurian. All turned out great. Excellent service, great ambience. Love it, a must try Indian place in Ashburn/Sterling.

Yelp
Amazing Indian food! Lots of options and we've never been disappointed. Delivery is pretty quick too.

Yelp
My favorite was the onion naan. I was debating between tandori paneer or paneer 65 and the server recommended the tandori. However, I was thoroughly disappointed. I usually love paneer but this paneer was dry, with a few pieces of cooked onion or pepper. The sauce for the butter chicken was also delicious, and I enjoyed the mango lassi shake which had ice cream in it. I am not sure if I would come back here, because I was really disappointed in the paneer that the server recommended and it was pricy for 5 pieces of paneer.

Yelp
This place is great and close to my office so will be frequenting a lot for lunch. Very spacious with lots of seating, good lunch buffets, and delicious food. Good location near the NOVA campus where lots of other restaurants and stores are with plenty of parking (right next door to Panera). They offer mild, medium, and hot spice levels so you can cater to what you are feeling. On top of the typical Indian dishes they do an Indian Mexican fusion with Indian nachos and tacos amongst other options such as pizza, etc. great tea, rice, fresh meats, and good service! Will definitely be coming back to try other options and recommend for others!

Yelp
We went there for the Weekend Buffet. While the food was OK, we found that the dishes went unattended to keep them fresh. They seem to have more take-out orders as we didn't see many people dining-in. While this is the closest restaurant to us in Sterling, we feel a drive to Ashburn may be worth the trip. The pricing is not in line with what you get.

Yelp
After the new ownership took over, the quality of the food went downhill. My husband ordered shrimp vindaloo and the shrimp were tiny and completely overcooked and rubbery. The Bindi masala was not seasoned well at all and had an overkill of large pieces of ginger. We ended up finding out that the original cooks have all been replaced, but we were able to find out where they now work. We won't be coming back here again.

Yelp
Service was great and well lit ambiance. We went on a Saturday evening and were immediately seated for a party of 6. We ordered veg momos, paneer nachos, dry Manchurian, nawabi tarkari, aloo tiki burger, 3 nans and noodles. All of them tasted good except for the Manchurian which wasn't bad but I had tasted better elsewhere. The chef was kind enough to have a chat with us and inquired abt the food. He also offered the children free mango lassi noticing they haven't eaten much. The service was fast, the staff were courteous and we had a evening well spent.

Yelp
Not outstanding. Food sort of average. Not as good as 1947 or its predecessor. Decor is fine. Service is fine. Too bad the food is uninspired. Not very spicy/flavorful , esp for an Indian place

Lowry C.

Yelp
In my last review, I misspoke terribly! At $25, the Vegetarian Thali is very reasonably priced. I do heartily recommend this amazing restaurant.

Yelp
Food not great. Too spicy. And definitely not good value. There are other better places in the area.

Imane A.

Yelp
I honestly regret eating here- I ordered mango Lassi, which was water like in its consistency and flavorless, the veggie samosas were dry too. The chicken tikka masala was okay. Service was good along with their bread.

Sonum K.

Yelp
They have opened this place where Tamarind used to be. I liked the variety of food they have and the pricing is reasonable. Ordered Delhi chaat, mooli parantha, aloo parantha, paneer parantha, Tea and Chaas. They were all good. Service is great and looking forward to eating there again.

Yelp
EXCELLENT Goat biryani, Lala Maas, Chicken Momos, Afghan Chicken Tikka. Really awesome food. Highly recommended

Yelp
Being Indian afficinados, we were eager to try the new place. Disappointing. The food was BLAND, even after I stressed to the waitress to make my entree VERY spicy. It took ten minutes to get water, THREE requests to get a glass of ice (for the water). And the place was less than half full Service was S L O W. The wine came AFTER we had finished the appetizer. Yep. That slow. I liked 1947. I liked Tamarind. This place pales in comparison. Paper napkins. Unadorned formica tables. SLOW service, BLAND food. We'll be back there when hell freezes over.

Yelp
Amazing Indian food! the best Indian food in NOVA! best Chicken dish is Amritsari Chicken!!!

Emma D.

Yelp
My bf and I used to go to Tamarind all the time and were surprised to see the restaurant now has new ownership and a facelift. The menu is more enticing now as well. We got our usual, chicken biryani and paneer tikka masala. It was even better than Tamarinds! The paneer tikka masala was so creamy and rich; the biryani was seasoned to perfection. Can't wait to come back and try another dish!

Yelp
I showed up at 4:50 to place a take away dinner. According to the information posted on their door they reopen at 4:00. The doors were locked. I called them and they opened the doors. I placed my order and before the waiter handed it to me he checked the contents of the bag. I arrived home to find out there was no rice, which is included .
