One of our favorite places to come to. We found them maybe a year ago but since it was our first time having Indian food we didn’t really know what we were doing. We try to go twice a month and are never disappointed. The food is great and so is the service. Definitely recommend trying this place (and maybe giving them more than one chance if you are new to Indian food). We share the chicken Shahi Korma with an extra side of rice and garlic naan. In the pictures I also added an image of the dosa. Before we found our favorite meal my bf would get this as his dish quite often.

Google
Good place to have some good Indian dishes. While the menu has limited number of dishes with respect to vegitarian, chicken and lamb related items, food cooked is pretty tasty and palatable. Service wise, polite staff and they are courteous. They serve you well. Nice and clean place. It is generally quite and toilets are clean.

Love this place. The food is so good. Service is wonderful. They got plenty of seatings. Perfect for family, friends, and dates. They start with complementary papad and chatney. The garlic naan was so buttery and soft. Just perfect!

I brought my family from out of town to taste authentic cuisine. My order had discrepancies at first but the staff and managers quickly resolved it and we enjoyed our meal. The wine is exceptional and chilled and the taj mahal left me belching and slightly toasted lol. They have clean restrooms, handicap friendly, vegan options, & plenty of parking and great cuisine for plenty. If you're in the Orlando-Winter Park 11:30-2:30 area swing by and try their lunch menu. We enjoyed the dosa and samosa chaat paired with chutney. We also ordered four different lunch special options with four different meats. All delicious! Definitely returning as always and recommending to all who ask indeed. Thanks tamarind and staff. Great experience in my book. As usual

Google
Beautiful atmosphere and very clean. The meat was tender and the flavor was good. They do cook their rice in oil, so their menu is more allergy friendly than many other places.

Google
One of my favorite places to eat, and definitely my favorite Indian spot!!! A MUST go. I recommend the Kashmiri naan and tikka masala with lamb. The samosa’s are a great/safe appetizer option. If you are not a spice person, just stick with mild heat. Medium is surprisingly a pretty big jump in spice level. Enjoy.

Google
we had tge masala dosa as an appetizer, we had the lamb tikkamadsala, chicken tikanadsala, rice pudding and the gulag jamun for desert. everything was so tasty, delicious. the location and restaurant were wonderful. plenty of parking we loved it and will be back. and it is affordable. service was also wonderful, a neighborhood gem for sure.

Food was delicious! The lunch special was amazing and so much more than I expected. The atmosphere was great the music wasn’t too loud and the server was great!

Yelp
The food was great! The service was fast and friendly. The dining room is well taken care of, and the ambiance is sublime!

Yelp
One of the best Indian spots in town! Friendly service and delicious food. We got the chicken tikka masala and the saag paneer - both sauces were made perfectly, and the chicken and paneer were flavorful and tender. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Excellent Indian food and a wonderful lunch spot after a day of shopping and running errands in Winter Park. Portions are generous, food is cooked perfectly and tastes amazing, and service was great! The interior decoration is fresh and minimal, but there's not a ton of character. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Was honestly very impressed and satisfied! Food: 5/5 delicious! They have a great lunch special as well. Their chickpeas were very tasty. Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5

Yelp
5 Star update for consistently exceptional Indian food that tops my list of local Indian restaurants and spans Northern Indian and Southern Indian cuisine. Over a decade later and I still consider Tamarind one of my favorite spots for Indian food. To start, the parking is easy because this restaurant is located in a large outdoor mall. Be patient and you'll get a spot near the restaurant. I'm still a big fan of the Masala Dosa (see description of how best to eat it in my previous review below). It surprises me every time I order it because it's huge! And the flavors- they never miss on any of the dishes. Another fan favorite in my groups is the Chicken Tikka Masala which is rich and bold in flavor. Not a fan of spice? Let your server know your prefered spice level as they can accommodate. Overall, I'm still a big fan and make it in whenever I have a hankering for some delicious Indian food. Thankful it's still around after so many years (started in 2011). Previous review in 2014: Holy Moley, guys... This place is legit. Upon reading Yelp reviews I ordered the Masala Dosa and almost fell out of my booth when they brought it over. It's LITERALLY the size of a small submarine (I must admit- it is not literally the size of a small submarine. More like a large tugboat... I digress...) The server must have noticed the puzzled/anxious/slightly crazed look on my face because he came over and demonstrated how it should be eaten- essentially having me make small burritos from the dosa (I promise that this fermented crepe tastes better than the description sounds) and stuffing them with all sorts of magical goodness (technical Indian term). My partner in crime ordered a Chicken Korma and was equally pleased (though his patience started to wear thin around the third time I whispered that 'mine's bigger than yours'...). 10/10 will return.

Yelp
I have been here a few times and had a few items and it's always been great. This time I had the Palak Paneer and it's some of the best I have ever had. It will be my go to dish going forward. Service is always fantastic and the food comes out quick.

Yelp
My new favorite go-to spot for Indian food! The price point, portions, and service were all ideal for a sit-down meal with friends and/or a significant other. Why party of 4 went in on a weekday night, without reservation, and had no issue being seated and served. We loved the amount of sauce for the poppadoms and they gladly gave me a container of it to go when I asked about it at the end of the meal as well! The spice here is no joke, be ready for the sweats if you like your food spicy! The flavor of the meals were spot on. My s/o and I ordered an entree each and an appetizer to share, and we took home half of each of our entrees. Must try: garlic naan and chicken korma. Everyone at the table loved the chicken korma sauce. Samosa chaat was pretty good too! Would come back again!

Yelp
Another successful dining experience with high-quality deliciousness. The garlic naan was buttery and topped with plenty of garlic. My masala dosa was tasty, served with potato and lentil dip, spicy soup, and a green coconut chutney. My son inhaled his Malai kofta. The food came out fast and piping hot. We were very satisfied.

John B.

Yelp
The food was outstanding. Served within 10 mins of ordering. The dining room was modern and clean.

Callan W.

Yelp
What a whirlwind. We are back. Everything is as it used to be. Food is delicious again. The chutney is back to normal and tastes Amazing again. Service has always been great. Very pleasantly surprised, Tamarind is back on top!!

Yelp
Mahmod does a great job. Owner now owners are good folks. Known for 2 decades. Their dosa is my favourite dish! They serve with the right quantity

Yelp
Unfortunately the food has not held up over the years :( it used to be one of my favorites in town. Not sure if it's under new management but we no longer visit tamarind.

Yelp
Tamarind is one of my go-to local spots for delicious Indian food and we've been eating here for years. I've gotten it twice in the past month and it always satisfies that craving. If you can make it in for lunch, their daytime specials are the best deal! The chicken tikka masala is always a must. I also love the samosa chaat which is an appetizer, but I've eaten this as my meal several times. It's a combination of samosa served with chickpeas, yogurt, and chutneys. And you can't forget the naan! I love how many naan flavors they have. My husband likes the the cheese naan and I go for the spicy chili garlic naan. Dipping the bread in the tikka masala sauce is heavenly! No Indian meal is complete without a mango lassi. This delicious mango smoothie drink is also great for digestion and the perfect way to cap off a meal. If you want another dessert, I also really enjoy their kheer (rice pudding). The next time you're in the mood for some Indian food, definitely give Tamarind a try!

Yelp
I never realized how much I loved Indian food until I tried tamarind! The food is so delicious and fresh! They also have an excellent lunch special during the week and on weekends, as well. You get a huge amount of food for about $15 dollars and it can't be beat! My favorite Indian restaurant by far!
google avatar

Kris B.

Yelp
Very nice ambience, except for looking at the doorway to the kitchen. Food was amazing! We had the garlic Naan and it was nice and garlicky. The vindaloo was good and spicy.

Yelp
Unfortunately, this restaurant does not live up to the hype. I came here, expecting a really good Indian meal as a takeout order, and I was left sorely disappointed. The first thing to note is that with to go orders, they do not provide any utensils or napkins. This could be frustrating for people staying in hotels or eating it on the go. Second, the price you pay for the portion you get is not worth it. The picture I included is of a chicken curry dish that, after tax and tip comes out to over $25 for that price, I expect a decent amount of food. What I received was a curry that had four pieces of chicken total. Not big pieces, bite-size pieces. If I am paying $25 for this, I am hoping to get good quality and pretty good quantity. Overall, disappointed in the service and quantity itself. I would definitely give this restaurant another chance in the future if they are able to address these issues.

Gam M.

Yelp
I came here for lunch a few times over the last years and they have been consistently good with their food & services. It's a small business so please be patient during rush hour. I went with a group of 10 people for lunch and they were efficient and most of the food came out together except for one dish so I think that's pretty impressive for a lunch rush. I had their lunch special: lamb thali with lamb vindaloo. It came with rice, vindaloo, 4 pieces of naan, small salad, and lentil, quite a nice deal imo. If you like spicy food, know that they take spice seriously here. So unless you have crazy spice tolerance I would suggest sticking to medium spice for a pleasant aftermath. Lol

Yelp
Located in a prime place closer to universal resort hotels. Went here to celebrate a birthday. Made a reservation through google and the place got busy. The ambience was nice. The food and service though was a disappointment. Service was very slow. Apart from the Hakka noodles, I did not like any of the item. Tried the Rasmalai which was sub par.

Yelp
Tamarind is amazing! Indian food just has so much flavor and has recently been one of my favorites. We tried the gunpowder shrimp (no pictured) and it was delicious. I was expecting it to be too spicy but it wasn't at all! Then we had the chicken 65 which was amazing!! It was the perfect crispy starter paired with the shrimp. For our entrees, my friends and I decided to get a bunch of stuff and share. We tried the Tandoori Chicken which came on a hot skillet with rice, the Chicken Biryani and the Chicken Vindaloo. We ordered the biryani and chicken vindaloo medium which had the perfect kick. I like spice but not like hot, crying spicy and medium was just right for me. The naan we tried was regular and garlic. The garlic was hands down my favorite naan ever. So good!! Service was much faster than I expected and it's in such a cute space. It was super cleaned and felt so welcoming!

Yelp
Daughter and I had a lovely first visit to Tamarind after hearing wonderful reviews from friends. The waitstaff was friendly and helpful with the menu. We are fairly new to Indian cuisine so we needed some help in navigating the menu. Everyone was kind and our food came out quickly. We ordered the vegetarian samosas and they were phenomenal. I've never had them better! My daughter ordered the chicken tikka masala and loved it. I ordered an eggplant dish and medium spice was just the right amount for me. There are many vegetarian options, which was exciting to see! The naan was large, fresh, and crispy in all of the right places. Overall, we have a great experience and look forward to trying more of the menu!

Tracy E.

Yelp
Great service and fantastic food. Everything comes out fast and cooked as ordered. We have visited this restaurant at least 10 times in the last 6 months and every time the food and service is perfect. I highly recommend this restaurant even if it is your first time trying Indian food.

Yelp
I always get take out from them when I'm in the mood for Indian and we are in the area. One of my favorites. They are very friendly and the food never misses. The reason I gave it one less star is for their portions -very light on the meat. The restaurant is a bit small but very nice ambience.

Zhuo Z.

Yelp
Taste like fantastic! everything expected for an authentic experience if you craving some good Indian food

Yelp
This was definitely some of the best food I have had anywhere in a very long time. Not only is the restaurant absolutely beautiful, but the service is excellent, and the food is top-notch. I look forward to returning again, I cannot believe I did not know about this place sooner!
google avatar

Yelp
Tamarind is one of my go to lunch spot for Indian food. They have flavorful dishes, I usually go for the classic chicken tikka masala with a side of garlic naan. The lunch special is the best bang for the buck, perfect portion for the price. The modern interior added to the overall experience, and the staff were friendly. I deducted one star due to the chicken used in their thali being a bit dry. Seems like they use chicken breast, I'm personally not a big fan of chicken breast because it is dry, but the flavor of the sauce is still very good. Tamarind is a well rounded choice for its delicious Indian cuisine in the area.

Yelp
Enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Taramind during Pro Bowl weekend. The food was excellent: Paneer Makhani, Garlic Naan that came with rice, and had it with a Taj Mahal beer! The service was great, well timed and had (on purpose!) lots to take back to the hotel to enjoy as a late night snack! The ambiance was beautiful, showcasing a hint of India's beauty.

Yelp
This hidden gem is tucked away in a shopping plaza off of Mills near Lee Rd. Plenty of parking. Inside seating only, dim lighting in the evenings for a romantic ambiance, and excellent service. Menu has a variety of Indian cuisine options to explore, and the curries/sauces are presented in large portions. Food is incredibly fragrant and flavorful. Online ordering, dine in, takeout, and delivery available. Reservations offered but not necessary, consider a reservation if you have a larger group as space is somewhat limited.

Yelp
Tamarind was a hit. I went during lunch hour and i decided to place a to go order. I started with Mango Lassi , which was gone before my order even came out, it was delicious & I wish I'd ordered another one. I decided to order the butter chicken MILD. This was served with white rice , salad & some other sauce fixings. I also ordered the garlic & cheese naan. Both were warm & absolutely delicious. I also placed an order for Samosas which came with a count of 2 & curry sauce. It was the perfect amount of spice and it was very good. The customer service was good and my order took about 20 mins. This restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating & lunch specials all wk. I will definitely be back, I really enjoyed my food.

Jocelyn A.

Yelp
Food was excellent! Indian food never disappoints of course! 100% would come back no doubt. Outstanding service and experience was great.

Yelp
Wow great spot! Started with the complimentary pappad which was a nice touch! Then had a great masala dosa and tasty paneer makhani! Both really satisfied the craving for indian. Great location as well, will be back soon!

Macayla M.

Yelp
The food restaurant is very good. The service is excellent! Francis made my birthday very special! Francis made sure to meet all my services! Francis is great.

Yelp
Amazing food, excellent service and very quick! Very welcoming! If you're looking for somewhere to get in and out and still have a nice dinner this is your spot

Kev Z.

Yelp
Not a very big restaurant, so the service was swift and very attentive. I enjoyed every bite of my meal, as did my wife. Appetizers and their sauces were great and added different elements to the samosas, stuffed mushrooms and shrimp (which came on a sizzling plate). As usual, the garlic Naan was hot and delicious. The portions were perfect. We'll definitely have return again and again.

Stephen O.

Yelp
Awesome food, great music and service was excellent. The manager brought us out a brand new dessert that was great. Highly recommend

Yelp
This is definitely a new favorite of mine! My boyfriend happened to see an advertisement, and we made a reservation. This was my first time I've ever had a dosa and I was blown away! I think this is my new favorite Indian dish. Everything was so flavorful, and this is going to be one of our repeat restaurants for sure. The service was quick and the restaurant wasn't too busy when we went on a Monday evening

Anupam K.

Yelp
I walked here 40 mins to eat shaam savera kofta my fav dish. I saw it on the menu on yelp. When I got here I was disappointed to find that it is no longer on their menu. Lesson learnt check the website for menu and do not go by yelp. The host at the restaurant persuaded me to try the malai kofta instead. I ate tandoori roti and makai kofta with a small side of raita. The kofta was well done with paneer. Medium Spicy was plenty spicy for me. They brought the order quickly to compensate for my disappointment. Only negative was that raita was khatta (sour)

Ricardo B.

Yelp
Excellent service, great food, my mom and I were there to enjoy a meal together! It was super nice! I recommend them highly!
google avatar

George R.

Yelp
Food always taste good..but dining in isn't the best experience. Maybe I encountered an employee that was having a rough night but he was rushing my friend who was seeking his help and had questions about the menu. So just that poor attitude and lack of patience will keep this spot as take out only for me!
google avatar

Regina M.

Yelp
My husband is craving for Indian Food and we came across this place. I'm glad we came here. The food is delicious and well made. The moment you enter the establishment, you can smell the aroma of food just wafting around you. The service was also excellent, they were very friendly and made sure they answer your questions. We will definitely come back again.

Yelp
This is seriously one underrated gem in Winter Park. It's been my go-to Indian spot for years and you will not be disappointed whether you're new to Indian cuisine or you're a hardened veteran who asks the server for "Indian spicy" (I salute you). It's a small space with a couple dozen tables that can fill up quick on the weekend. But service is quick and friendly, and there's always online ordering if not. My go to is usually one of the lunch thalis (which means platter) that range from $11 to $13 depending on what protein you want. It's usually served in a couple bowls along with naan (portions are a-plus). Runner up is any of the dosa dishes (think thin blanket sized crispy bread, but man it is huge) or the xacuti plate. And go for a samosa chaat as an app, it's one large pastry filled with veggies and covered in a variety of mouth watering sauces.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere, great food and wine! Very cute place by winter park village and close to all places to shop. Highly recommend! Service was fast and great as well.
google avatar

Sasha S.

Yelp
The food here is good, if a little mild. The server did not ask us what spice level we wanted, so I guess it was decided for us. For 4 people, 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, and 2 naan was more than enough!
google avatar

Angela P.

Yelp
I've always been super nervous to try Indian food as I've heard it's very very spicy. My husband had gone here with a few guys from work and wanted me to try it - I had very high expectations as he knew this would be my first experience. It was 2:15pm on a Saturday, and we walked in to being the only customers. They do close at 3pm daily to prepare for dinner but I really enjoyed being alone because I was able to ask questions. We ended up doing the lunch portions and I did go with the most basic option but I think it was a great starter!! The garlic naan was the perfect amount of crisp and garlic. The rice wasn't too mushy and there was a ton of sauce but the piece of chicken were huge!! The food had a slight kick at the end but it was unbearable. My husband even said it was more spicy than he remembers so spice may vary based upon that days chef. I was surprised, but I throughly enjoyed the lentil soup as well. This whole dish was $15 but I brought half home for lunch another day. I can't wait to go back and try something else
google avatar

Leanne A.

Yelp
After searching north Orlando, I definitely found my local Indian restaurant here at Tamarind. The food is always amazing and fresh no matter what time of day you come. Their lunch special is a really great deal, very generous portions and I love that you get some many little bites, main entree, rice, lentil soup, salad, naan bread, and papadum. I always go for the garlic naan, lamb vindaloo and a chicken tikka masala. The service is a bit hit or miss though, so be prepared, but the food makes up for it. Looking forward to my next samosa soon!
google avatar

Mary S.

Yelp
Lovely ambiance and tasty Indian food with depth in flavor and spices. Love this place!
google avatar

Lindsay D.

Yelp
Excellent food, good customer service, and relaxing ambiance. My wife and I have only eaten at an Indian restaurant once before, over a decade ago. A little intimidating at first, but the menu was easy to understand and the staff helped my wife not inadvertently pick out anything too spicy. She enjoyed the paneer kadhai while I had the tandoori chicken (delicious) with a side of garlic naan. The vegetable samosas were also good and came with three dipping sauces. The masala chai was smooth, but could have been stronger flavor wise. We are looking forward to going back!
google avatar

Zain K.

Yelp
Well, my "medium-hot" shrimp vindaloo was definitely more hot than medium, but no matter - it only forced me to slow down and savor my meal. It's hard to find thali at restaurants these days, which means it's hard to get balance and variety when you're dining alone at an Indian restaurant and not wanting to over-order (unless you do a buffet, which I don't often want to do). Spice level aside, everything in the thali was tasty and fresh, and I'll definitely return soon.

Yelp
The food was excellent and it was a relaxed setting. Our wait staff was very attentive and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner.
