We had an outstanding experience at Tamarind, and I’m still thinking about the meal two weeks later.
For an appetizer, my husband and I shared the Tandoori Jhinga. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and paired with delicious accompaniments that really elevated the dish.
For our mains, my husband ordered the Lamb Chops and I had the Tawa Gurda Kaleji. The lamb was, without exaggeration, the best rack of lamb I’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and full of flavor. The Tawa Gurda Kaleji was bold, deeply spiced, and so good that, if I weren’t raised with better manners (and in public), I might have licked the bowl clean!
For dessert, we ordered the Gajar Halwa, which was a surprising and memorable blend of carrots, beets, nuts, and warm aromatics. It was rich, balanced, and genuinely remarkable. Not something I expected to love as much as I did, but I can’t stop thinking about it.
The drinks were masterfully crafted and beautiful to look at, and the plating of every dish was thoughtful and inviting. The atmosphere feels like fine dining, yet still warm and welcoming, like being a guest in someone’s home rather than just another table.
Service was impeccable and made the entire evening even more enjoyable.
Not only do I highly recommend this restaurant, I truly think it’s a gem that I hope the people of Rockland County get to know and cherish.
