"Tamarind Village Though Tamarind Village is located on one of Chiang Mai’s most touristy thoroughfares, you’d hardly guess it on arrival. A tranquil allée of arched bamboo meanders toward the romantic hotel, which sits beneath the 200-year-old tamarind tree for which it’s named. Covered walkways arranged around a network of leafy courtyards lead to 46 guest rooms, each individually decorated with locally woven textiles and bespoke furnishings. In addition to visiting the on-site spa, guests can learn how to make flower garlands, whip up Thai specialties during cooking classes, or embark on a complimentary walking tour to give alms to Buddhist monks."

We had such a great experience staying at this hotel in Chiang Mai! The architecture is absolutely beautiful a perfect blend of traditional Thai style and modern design. Every detail feels curated and artistic. The staff were genuinely kind and helpful, always ready with a smile. You can feel the warm hospitality from the moment you arrive. One thing we truly appreciated is their commitment to sustainability. From refillable water bottles to eco-friendly amenities and mindful energy use , it's great to see a hotel that supports going green without compromising comfort. Plus, the location is super convenient, close to the Old City, markets, and lots of cute cafes. Highly recommend this place for a stylish, responsible, and relaxing stay in Chiang Mai! Oh, many thanks for 2h free walking tour :)

Excellent location, exemplary customer service, comfortable room, and best restaurant!||This is our third trip to chiangmai, the last two we stayed in a city resort built by acclaimed Aussie architect by the Ping river. While we really enjoyed the stay at the stay, we wanted another experience within the old city for our third trip so we could walk to every historical site instead of relying on grab transport||We werent disappointed by our choice at tamarind. The boutique hotel is so convenient, yet so secluded and tranquil.||The staff were very customer focused, always finding solutions to requests instead of relying on rule based answers. Notable were front desk staff Yo, Kiki, and Toni, and every staff at the restaurant.||And the food at their Ruen restaurant! Reasonably priced for the most authentic Lana cuisine. We are vegetarian and the chef ensured we did not miss out on any dish because of our dietary restrictions. We ended up eating our dinner at the restaurant for 13 nights of our 14 nights stay. A big shout to Noot, Ken, Job, Chiang, Suradeck, Top… all restaurant staff led by the elegant Khun Ting Chai. The restaurant had live music every night, which every diner appreciated.||Housekeeping is usually the unsung hero, but a team I wanted to call out for compliment. Throughout my stay, the team never missed a single request I had for towels and toiletries...||||I had trepidation before my stay as there were constant reviews about persistent mosquitos. And yes there were mossies. but they were no more aggressive than to the mossies we experienced at the hotel by the Ping River. Asked for the mosquito repellent and all’s well.||||Six stars for this hotel experience.

I have removed a previous review as needed to update. We have had a very enjoyable stay. Our room was pretty and kept clean. Plenty of bottled water and towels, comfy bed. The grounds are beautiful and we have enjoyed good breakfast and dinner in the restaurant, I'm vegetarian and found plenty to choose from. Tofu curry was delicious. We noticed pool area needed some maintenance which staff acknowledged and resolved immediately. Staff here are attentive and do everything to give best experience. In all it has been a beautiful, well centred place to stay and we would like to stay again if we are in this area.

Beautiful traditional hotel on the best part of town within the walled historic part of the city. Has a nice relaxing vibe about the hotel. Nice swimming pool and relaxation area however it is quite small and not always enough sunbeds. The restaurant in the hotel is first class and actually was some of the best food we had in a 2 week holiday touring Thailand. Lots of places to eat and drink close by some nice streets to chill in. Also there are 3-4 night markets to go to. ||I like my foodie finds and the absolute find of the holiday was a place called Green Smoke. Think New York style warehouse restaurant, cooking only over open fire , with Thai influence. Believe me it worked and was insanely good. I've posted pictures. We also did a day out to sticky waterfalls , which was followed by a bike ride through paddy fields , to a lake near a dam with lunch on the lake. An absolute highlight of Thailand. ||Overall stay here , great sanctuary in Chang Mai.

This is a lovely hotel with real charm. A great location in the old part of Chiang Mai. The staff were fantastic. The breakfasts were great with plenty of choice and the one evening meal we had was lovely. A nice pool area. Our room was very clean and well maintained. It had character but our slight disappointment was that it was a bit small and only had one small window for natural daylight. We would definitely stay there again but, perhaps, choose a different room.

An exceptional stay — truly impressed! Tamarind Hotel exceeded my expectations in many ways. The room was spotless, cozy, and well-prepared, creating the perfect atmosphere for relaxation. What really stood out to me was the peaceful environment and the classy, respectful nature of the other guests — it felt like a premium experience from start to finish. The staff? Absolutely outstanding. Always greeting you with a warm smile, extremely professional, and genuinely eager to help — they made me feel welcomed and valued throughout my stay. One detail I truly appreciated was that I was allowed to fly my drone, which shows how understanding and supportive the management is of their guests’ hobbies. If I had to mention anything for improvement, it would be the limited breakfast variety and the fact that in-room dining isn't available after 10 PM. But honestly, these are minor points compared to the overall quality of the experience. This hotel is a gem. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for comfort, elegance, and top-notch hospitality. I’m definitely coming back.

The hotel is conveniently located within the old city. I would describe it as rustic and charming rather than smart. We had to break our stay at the hotel ie one night, a break to go to a bush camp and then two further nights. We were booked into a deluxe Lana room but the first nights room was much bigger than the one we were allocated for the second two nights. I did check with reception that the second room was the same category as the one we stayed in at our first night. They explained that rooms do differ due to the layout of the hotel so not much I could do on that basis. The rooms are a bit rough around the edges and quite dark but in part that was its charm. We had breakfast and a dinner by the pool which was so nice. The food is very good eg Bircher muesli, omelettes and pancakes. Our evening meal was very tasty and worth staying in for if you rather not go out. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Chiang Mai is a great base for exploring northern Thailand eg staying at an elephant bush camp and also exploring the national parks and all the various temples.

This hotel is a hidden gem in the middle of the old city of Chiang Mai. Its bamboo entrance sets the tone for a relaxing visit. The rooms are tucked away in a beautiful jungle like garden. Upon entering you are greeted with warm, friendly staff who bring tea and a cool towel while you check in. Our bags were taken directly to our room, something which we are not used to in the USA! The rooms are very charming and do have AC! The calming noises of the wildlife put you right to sleep as well at night. This hotel is very zen, and romantic as well for a getaway. The breakfast is also very delicious, full of fresh fruits and Thai delicacies. I would recommend staying here as it’s in a walkable area and it is a great place to return to at the end of a long day touring.
