Cycling through and saw this on my radar. Decided to give it a try since this neighborhood has undergone gentrification. The venue is chic & cozy. Sat comfortably and was served a nice cup of hot tea. I went with the spicy seafood ramen. The flavor was tantalizing & the noodles were hearty. Good recommendation by the server. This famished cyclist could’ve eaten more. The noodle portion was a bit on the small side. Lots of alcoholic beverages to choose from. Overall a good spot for date night 👍

Good Local spot. Atmosphere resembles a Ramen shop in Japan very fun environment. Food is really good. Its summer time so got the Hiyashi Chuka a cold Noodle Dish. Veggies very fresh and pork very well seasoned and tasty. for about 14.45 a bowl with 2.95 for additional Noodles. Finding a meal under 20 dollars that's got Fresh ingredients and made well is rare in Astoria. Also 8% discount if you pay in Cash. Please go and support them. They have a large menu with something for just about every taste.

Husband and I came across this cozy place after visiting the Noguchi Museum. Atmosphere was great, servers are extremely attentive with you, and you get hot tea. Their menu is great and the prices are reasonable.

Inside seating is nice & decor is cute. Wish the chairs had backs, but that’s a personal preference for comfort. The agedashi tofu was tasty & the spicy miso ramen was good-nice thick noodles. The chasu pork in the ramen had nice flavor. I have heard the other food that is not ramen is subpar.

I have been eating here for years, and I have tried many other places around the neighborhood,but Tamashi Ramen makes the best ramen in Astoria! The food is amazing, and the miso ramen is my favorite. They also make a delicious gyosa and have a great sake selection and the service is amazing.

4.5 Stars to this place!!! I went to this restaurant and I just LOOOVED all about it! The service, the food, the cleanliness, the atmosphere. We had as appetizers Bamboo shoot, and Octopus fried balls( Really yummy), and as a plate I had the Veggie Champon, and my friend had a Miso Ramen. Everything was just so flavorful and rich! I totally recommend this place!

Great Kara miso ramen! Quick service and friendly staff! Would recommend to bring cash because they offer an 8% off discount for cash payments. There’s only indoor seating and a nicely decorated place.

Have ordered take out from here but first time eating in house and it was so wonderful. Cute little restaurant with an attentive staff. We were sat right away but it was pretty early around 6pm. Had the Vegetable Gyoza to share so yum. We both had the spicy Miso Ramen. I didn’t get pork in mine even tho there is pork in the broth. Huge servings and was the perfect warm meal on a cold fall night. Definitely recommend!

This has long been my go-to ramen spot in Astoria, and since my first review 10 years ago I have to say I've really fallen in love with this place. I've tried almost every ramen on the menu here at this point, but the one I get most often has to be the Chasyu ramen, which is their signature ramen but with additional slices of pork piled in there. Whenever I order takeout from here I'm shocked not only at how fast it arrives, but always appreciate the way they pack the noodles separately from the broth so that it doesn't get all soggy and soak everything up. The few times I've dined in rather than ordered have been pleasant as well. It's a no frills counter with a few seats. A solid place to eat ramen alone, during lunch you'll see plenty of solo diners taking advantage of their lunch special deals. 10/10, no notes.

Food 8/10 Quite surprised by how much I enjoyed the ramen. The miso ramen had a relatively thicker broth, nicely portioned chashu, eggs, bamboo shoots, and a thicker noodle. Usually, I prefer thinner noodles and light broth, and despite this bowl being the opposite, I enjoyed my meal. The agedashi tofu was also not bad, but not the best I've had Atmosphere 7/10 A very standard ramen shop interior. They had these electronic kiosks for ordering, which reminded me of Asia. Service 8/10 Efficient.

Ordered: Kara Veggie Ramen (~$13): with shoyu broth, topped with onion, bok choy, carrot, mushroom, scallion, and egg Kaarage (~$9) Aya's take: I'm going to be honest, I wasn't eager to come back as there's nothing "special" about the ramen here and that could be because my options are limited since I don't eat pork, but I found myself here for dinner on a cold, rainy evening. We were seated right away as 2 people, ordered soon after, and our food hit our table within minutes. I went with the Kara Veggie Ramen and was immediately a bit disappointed that the noodles weren't the typical wavy noodles that typically go better with shio or shoyu-flavored broths. Aside from that, the straight noodles were cooked well and there was a good amount in the bowl. The bok choy was fresh and had a nice crunch and the egg was decent too. Since there's really no protein here, we got the Kaarage on the side. It lacked basic seasonings like salt and pepper but it was fried well and the spicy mayo on the side paired well with it. I admit I didn't leave feeling that satisfied but it was definitely filling and prices are reasonable.

Delicious ramen that has decent portion and reasonable price in the area. We went there for dinner and service was quick. You can also get beer, sake as you wish. I got the ramen with spicy miso soup and it was better than I expected- miso not overpowering the spice. The ambiance is nice for hanging out and catching up with friends as it's not noisy. Would go again!

I have ordered takeout here before but this was my first time doing dine-in for dinner with my boyfriend. It's a very intimate setting with cool Japanese lanterns and lighting above head. Would not recommend for large groups but for 2-4 people would be great since it's a quiet and low key setting. No reservation needed at dinnertime Friday night but it was almost full when we walked in, no wait. We ordered the signature Tamashii ramen, unagi don and the okonomiyaki. Everything was delicious! Broth was flavorful. Portion sizes were good and the service was very quick. They also kept refilling my water frequently. Since I drink tons of water when I go out to eat, I definitely appreciate the attention to that during the meal. Great intimate place for date night or catching up with friends. It's a lively enough vibe with upbeat music but quiet enough to have a conversation with those around you.

My flight from LaGuardia to Greensboro was cancelled. I got one of the last roms at a local hotel and set off on Yelp and an ordering app to find dinner! I ordered Tamashii and got a very good vegetarian ramen dish. I've had better Ramen all over New York City, the U.S., and of course, Japan, however this was definitely not average. I would order again if I was in the area, so I would recommend it.

Great restaurant all around, the staff is warm and inviting while the food is warm and filling. If you want a please with great service a good atmosphere then you need to check this place out!

Slightly better than Tamashii Blue, its counterpart in LIC. The broth is a little thicker and tastier. Noodles are classic thin round ramen noodles. Chashu was tender and fatty. Service was quick and nice. Busy atmosphere with a warm vibe but we were seated quickly without a reservation on a weekend.

Located right in the center of busy Austin Street, this gem was a great choice for delicious and filling ramen at very affordable prices. Before you enter, you'll find yourself staring at the wooden, cozy storefront that screams "comfort food". To start off, we had the kara-age and takoyaki which were good with a drizzle of lemon. However, the main star was my kara miso ramen with pork, which had a hearty miso soup base with a dab of spice sauce. There are also non-pork options such as the seafood yaki bowl, which my friend had. Despite the full house on a friday evening, the service was great and very attentive. We left with a full stomach and a warm soul. Highly recommend :)

Very quick service I do highly enjoy here. The ambiance is very nice as well, many pictures of the food menu items hanging on the walls. Surprisingly, I was shocked by the overwhelming menu. Usually ramen restaurants I tend to go to only have so many items, so that's a plus. However, I only rated a 3 due to the food. It was very delicious however I feel that it lacked flavor. Even the additional chili oil was giving a sesame flavor. However my palate is different from others so I will still recommend to those who are trying ramen for the first time.

3.5 Stars Not sure if they advertise it, but, I believe they are "Korean style" ramen. The ramen dishes we ordered seem "fusiony" to me. They definitely have a style of their own when it comes to their broth. No traditional feel to their ramen IMO. Our server was friendly and attentive. The establishment has nice decor.

Soooo good. The food was delicious and the service was quick. What really pulled me here was the ramen and it didn't disappoint. Also for a group of 6 the price was amazing as well. It did not break the bank. Highly recommend, 10/10 would be here again.

Yummy ramen, the veggie spicy miso ramen was super delicious. We got it with the thick chewey hirauchi noodles. Service was wonderful and the environment is clean and cozy. Will come back again

Quality has gone down. The chicken karaage used to be excellent. My recent order looked and tasted like it was from a bag of frozen nuggets. The chicken was extremely salty and did not look fresh. Very disappointing from what used to be a reliable neighborhood joint

Tamashii Ramen is a cozy and welcoming restaurant. I loved the Ramen experience. My daughter had the Tamashii Ramen and I had the Curry Ramen. the curry flavor was just right. It was lite and so delicious, with bite size fried chicken and veggies. I will definitely be back soon. Can't wait to try everything on the menu. The staff were so nice, I say 10/10 for overall excellent service and food.

Who doesn't love food that moves? Ha! I had the pleasure of experiencing bonito flakes. You just have to! Cool experience and delicious addition to many types of dishes. I got the fried chicken ramen. Ramen is always good. I did reach out of my comfort zone and tried the shrimp and squid pancake. At least I think that's what it was. It was good. Just try everything, don't ask what it is.

Came in for a late lunch/early dinner. Got seated right away. The appetizers were enjoyable and were split between two people. We got the Agedashi Tofu, Avocado Salad, and Takoyaki balls. We added on the rice bowl, which was a bit less to my liking - Either too much soy sauce or another type of marinade, it appeared darker and had a slightly bitter taste. Service overall was great and fairly swift. Since not much people were there at that hour, we weren't kicked out after paying for our check.

If I could I would give this place 0 stars. It was one of the worst experiences I've had...Most of the broths are fish base, which it's not clear on the menu, I ordered one without knowing and I'm allergic to fish!! And to make everything even worst I had to pay the for it and the server was soo Rude and unprofessional. Do yourself a favor and don't come here.

With such raving reviews I knew this was another ramen spot I had to try. I've been trying to find a time to try out this place for a while now! I ordered a Tamashi Ramen to go, and the menu device at the door was very easy to use - please note only card at the machine! The Tamashi Ramen was great! You can choose what kind of noodles you want (soft, firm), so I picked soft. If you've had Kyuramen, these noodles feel slightly more firm than those, not the softest. You can customize your toppings as well if you prefer but I stuck with the original - some pork, half an egg, seaweed, scallion. Portion size is ok, not the most full afterwards but alright. They bundle up your ramen and soup really well in the take out bag, and it was very hot and nothing spilled when I opened it back at home! Nice job for packaging! Looking forward to coming back to try other menu items!

Amazing good the ramen was amazing. Everyone was so polite including kitchen people. Came here around 7pm and food was steaming hot and good. I recommend this place.

Came here with a group of 6 on a random Tuesday night and didn't have to wait for a table at all. Our group ordered a variety of ramen including okinomiyaki, raw squid, and cold noods. I recommend everything just because the broth is SO rich and even the raw squid and okinomiyaki were super crunchy and fresh. My friends actually ordered extra noodles after finishing their first serving because there was so much broth left and no regrets at all! Their noodles are fresh, bouncy, and just what you want in your noods. For a group of 6 and all the ramen we got, we only paid $25/pp with tips. Worth it!

We've been excited to try this for a while and it was much more crowded than we expected when we came. We thought it was a low key spot but it was bustling! The prices are fair for NYC. About $13-16 a bowl of ramen and the portions are decent. We started with the ikura don and although it was not bad, I was fairly disappointed because it looked nothing like the pictures they posted on Yelp. The portion is no where the same as the pictures. Don't be fooled! The Kara ramen (spicy) and tamashi ramen were good and filling. The kara ramen was a bit thick and very salty. I found myself chugging a lot of water after. The tamashi ramen was nice and clean as it was described on the menu. Perfect for a not too heavy dinner on a cold day but I could've used a bit more flavor to it. The staff was friendly and nice and we didn't have to wait to long for a table!

I went to Tamashii Ramen with some friends and was excited to try some Ramen . When you walk in, it has a great vibe and it's small but intimate. You will even see some posters from Anime shows like Dr.Stone and Inuyasha. I got the Shoyu Ramen which had Pork, Egg, seaweed, and soy sauce. It was delicious and the broth was so flavorful.

I went to Tamashii Ramen on a cold winter day, and I left happy, full, and satisfied. Their ramen packs a punch when it comes to flavor. I had the Buta ramen and pork buns. The pork buns had tasty pork belly and a soft bun. The ramen came in a large portion with rich, savory pork broth and lots of toppings. I thought the food was stellar but on top of it, the atmosphere was cozy and cute. I'll definitely be heading there again, regardless of the weather.

I ordered through Grubhub and it arrived on time and everything was delicious. Food arrived nice and hot. I ordered the Katsu and Pork Bao along with Ramen. The Katsu did arrive very soggy which was disappointing. If you're ordering anything Katsu ask for sauce on the side. That was my mistake for not adding it in the notes. It was still delicious and enjoyable. The Bao was out of this world delicious. The pork was tender, juicy and the bun was so soft and sweet. By far my favorite. The ramen came dried with wet broth separately. It was actually really good. I'd definitely order again and again.

Customers beware. They do not cancel online orders even if you call them within 4 min on placing the order. They will buy themselves time and tell you to call grubhub to cancel. Then grubhub told me to call the restaurant to cancel. When I called the restaurant again, they told me only grubhub can cancel and besides, it's too late, they already made my order. Business must be really slow if they need to con people like this.

everything here avg... the wait is kinda crazy for this kinda food.... but just do understand this is like the only ramen place. the soup base isn't the best ... kinda taste like water. it's tiny and tight not big ppls friendly . the staff is the that friendly they want u to order quick and bounce

We randomly decided to dine at Tamashii Ramen not knowing about the great reviews, but after eating here, I'm confirming that they're right y'all When you enter, there is a kiosk to order from if you're doing take-out. Inside, there is a good amount of seating. There aren't many tables for big groups, but I imagine they can pull the small tables together if needed. They also do a good job at maintaing a good indoor temperature in this cold, cold weather. I took off my jacket and did not feel any draft whatsoever. There's a staircase in the back, but unsure if they have a second floor. The ambiance is also very nice, the inside is covered in anime action figures, very cute. Inside it's not too loud, there's some chatter in the background, but you can have a good conversation. Their music choice is also nice The service is also great, the server would frequently check-in and was very accommodating Prices are also very affordable, and they also have lunch specials. Great for students! Finally, onto the food. We were super hungry when we went in and left pretty satisfied. I got the Kara Miso ramen and it was nice overall, even without additional toppings. I do wish the broth was a bit more rich and that there were more noodles. As for the menu, I couldn't tell if they had meat/seafood alternatives to pork-based broth, but would've loved to see that, or the option to swap out pork for a different meat All in all stellar, and will recommend

Stopped by for lunch with my boyfriend and a few other friends. We ordered takoyaki, ebi potato, a chicken katsu and 4 ramens. My kara veggie ramen was just ok. I'm not a big fan of pork broth and was disappointed that they didn't offer a chicken broth option. For a veggie broth, my kara veggie was light but slightly salty. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food. Not sure if I would return for their veggie broth.

I really enjoy the Tamashii house ramen, though I wish there was another type of ramen noodle option available. The broth has great depth and is served at the correct pipping hot temperature. I mention the temperature because ramen is often served too cool. Not so here. I heartily recommend their ramen. Also, the pork gyoza are excellent--they burst with pork, standing in relieving contrast to grocery store gyoza.

I got the buta ramen and I thought it was quite flavorful, but in a very salty way. It comes with chopped up pieces of pork with more minced meat at the bottom. The noodles are a bit thicker than the tamashii ramen. It is definitely not the traditional ramen flavors, more soy sauce forward in my opinion. The tamashii ramen was on the lighter broth side, not as creamy or umami as I expected. The noodles for this are also thinner. We ended up mixing the two broths back and forth to balance out the flavors. Overall it's decent ramen. There's plenty of other non ramen options as well which is nice !

I have been coming for years I love this place , good quality, great staff , great environment and great prices. Definitely recommend I want to add to all the entitled people in the comments . Seriously what's wrong with you you have no idea what goes into running a restaurant or making food and serving . When did we become this in society that you all feel the need to complain about every little thing . 4 stars, they deserve 5 period,bro this place has become such a gem in the community and I'm so happy the survived the pandemic

Ate here today for lunch for the first time with my mom, sister and cousin to try this place out before going to work. We all got different ramen dishes to try out together. For our appetizers, we all got fried chicken together to share and eat that it tasted good. After we got our ramens served, it tasted really good and delicious. The service was also attentive and friendly. Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again! :)

This place is always a great spot to just come, chill and eat some delicious noods and fried chicken. The servers are friendly and they have the cutest panda cups of sake ever. I'll keep coming back :)

Chicken Gyoza... I said wow! Very tasty, tender and crisp on one side with soy sauce for dipping - the seasoning on that chicken was perfect. I'm not usually a big fanatic for dumpling-like dishes but this one won me over, and for good reasons! The Shrimp Shumai was soft and flavorful. Stopped by with my boyfriend on a rainy day (yes, I know stereotypical for ramen) and ordered the: Chicken Gyoza (6pcs), Shrimp Shumai (3pcs), Veggie Ramen with a salt broth & Grilled Chicken, Kara Miso Ramen with Grilled Chicken and Green Tea Mochi ice cream. We had (2) draft Sapporo beers for the thirst. Service was attentive and prompt. Our bill was ~$60 for two people - very reasonable. We left with our bellies full & smiles. I recommend this restaurant for great ramen, even on sunny days! :)

Food was okay. Chicken curry katsu was on the dry side. The curry sauce was wonderful, but if you need more, there is a $3 charge. (It seems to be a trend these days where restaurants want to charge for anything and everything. I don't like this new practice. You already raised prices and decreased portions.) The assumption is that even though this is not enough and businesses are still struggling, these little charges are very petty. The chicken needed the extra sauce because it is too dry. Then you hit me with a sauce charge. I'm using the extra sauce to fix your mistake so that the food can be edible. It's not cool. Ambiance: it was okay. Just watch out for the lights. Don't bump your head. Service: attentive.

This ramen did not disappoint, the broth was delicious. I added some spice to it and it was perfect. The gyoza was so good, cooked perfectly, the pork on the inside was really tasty, we almost ordered 2 orders! The ramen was good, nice broth, the seaweed adds a nice flavor, and the chasyu was good too. The staff is very nice, we went on a Thursday night and it was pretty busy in there but the staff was very attentive. We'll definitely be back!

Great to-go ramen spot! I've ordered takeout here a few times and have tried a variety of their ramen -- I really love their Veggie Miso Ramen in particular (I order without corn). It's a nice milder broth that's perfect if you don't like too much salt. And there's a lot of onion that gives it a delicious sweet onion flavor. I've never dined here but they have cute seating! Definitely cute for small groups or date night. And the staff here is great.

Ramen on a rainy day is the best. There is always a wait for this restaurant since it's a small place and busy area. We ordered: 1. Tamashii ramen 2. Miso ramen 3. Epi potato (my fav) 4. Takoyaki 5. Curry rice

I came here with a friend for dinner on a Friday night. They were pretty busy, but we were able to get seated immediately once the staff was done setting up all the take-out orders they had. We ordered takoyaki and the miso ramen. The takoyaki comes as an order of 4 pieces, which I felt was unusual since other places serve 6. Generally, they were good but really doughy. I wish they would have used bigger pieces of octopus given the size of the balls. My friend and I both ordered the miso ramen as our main dish. Warning to those who order this but our broth came out EXTREMELY HOT! We had to wait a few minutes before we could enjoy it. Even though the broth was hot, some of the toppings (i.e. egg) were cold in the center. It's likely they use the broth to heat up toppings left in the fridge. On the positive side, the noodles were cooked to perfection and al dente. This place has a very chill ambiance and I see a lot of friend groups coming in here. The staff were really nice. They do follow COVID precautions from the moment you enter. I also felt really comfortable on how far apart the tables were.

Really a 3.5 but rounded down because the ramen was disappointing. Large menu with several options but overall salty ramen! Decent spot to meet up with friends Food: I ordered the shrimp buns and they were really good. The shrimp is shrimp tempura, so expect something fried. The buns were overall really good, the shrimp was cooked so well, and the sauce they have with the buns was flavorful! For my main I ordered the Kara miso ramen! I thought it was overly salt and not as spicy as I would like. It was just too salty for my liking. The menu overall is really expansive - I feel like I would come back and just do the tapas! They have a whole host of veggie options, which is amazing to see at a ramen place. Price: reasonably priced ramen and apps- expect to pay about $25 for a bowl of ramen and an app. Ambience: I really liked the decor of the place, it was dimly lit and overall well decorated. Safety: indoors there is plexi glass separating you from other tables so it feels pretty safe Service: extremely quick - our ramen was ready before we even finished our appetizers. They really try and get you out quick. But service was good - the waitresses were nice

I never understood the excitement around ramen, till I tested this venue ramen. It changed my mind about ramen completely. The noodles are fresh, perfectly made. The selection of meats and broths is also great making it difficult to choose from. I love the miso-based ramen and the champon and curry ramen. You can tell we like them spicy. None of them though were overwhelmingly spicy. They are all made very well. It is a full meal indeed and very satisfying. We took out our orders so I cannot attest for the service while seated, but in the short interaction of placing and picking up an order they were efficient and friendly. Overall, that's my new go-to hot, hearty meal in my neighborhood.

cute little place with a studio ghibli theme:) fast & attentive service! very satisfactory experience overall - easily less than $20 pp! miso ramen broth was sweet+savory, thick with a slight grainy texture, very flavorful. pork was juicy & seared but not crispy as expected. like my egg yolk extra runny but this one was slightly solid around the edges. noodles were thick, bouncy, and wavy - yum! abundant toppings & decent portion size:) tamashii ramen had a lighter broth, though saltier, with smoother texture. other elements were pretty identical to the miso ramen!

Food was decent. I really liked the atmosphere. Place was busy but got a table pretty quick. If I lived in the area, I would make this place a regular spot out of convenience but not tons to write home about when it comes to the food.

I had a mild cold, so I wanted something brothy for dinner. I normally get the miso ramen but I opted for a lighter soup this time, so I ordered the namesake Tamashii ramen. It was delicious - the best ramen I've had in awhile. I will be back soon!

Hubby and I came here for lunch while making plans about where to eat. I can't believe choosing a place to eat is so challenging these days. Suddenly we saw this place and a parking spot in front of it so why not come here. With big smiles, we were greeted by friendly waitresses. We ordered taco wasabi, okonomiyaki, Ika karage for appetizers. Then Hubby ordered dumpling soup and spicy vegetable ramen with seafood for me! Of all the dishes, the not-so-authentic word was Ika Kara-age, or fried squid. The flour they use is a bit different than the typical taste of the Ika kara-age. I've had this plenty over the years at Japanese restaurants; therefore, I could tell the difference. We liked the taco wasabi and plan to order this again next time but will order for each instead of sharing it with Hubby. What's mine is mine. What's his is mine! Yay! The Okonomiyaki or fish flakes were delicious. I liked watching it more than eating it. They moved a lot! I enjoyed my spicy ramen, and Hubby enjoyed his dumpling soup. Why not try this place for a change if you want to try some ramen? Our waitress was happy working. All of them looked happy. It must be the ramen! Yummy!

This was my favorite ramen place of all time. I was a regular since its opening, and except for the close seating and relative crowded atmosphere, the food itself is spectacular. However, my wife and I were turned away from service in the Spring of 2021 after "failure" to produce an ID that was necessary to dine indoors during this shameful period. Unfortunately, we will never return.
