On the Grid : Tambarina

"Tambarina is a restaurant where one can feel and taste the true “flavour of Cape Verde”. Living and working in the neighbourhood for more than 43 years, Domingos de Brito is the owner of this famous restaurant. The Cachupa and the Moamba recipes are among the most celebrated, but there is a variety of other popular dishes that attract not only the locals. The restaurant also hosts live music from Cape Verde – *Funaná*, Batuque, Morna and Koladera, and it is expected to have a space for dancing sessions soon. It is open every day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m." - Rés-do-Chão

Food was exceptional, biiiig portions and extra tasty. 1/2 portion is enough for one. Big glass of wine just 2 euros. Ambient is not so nice, but if you are prioritising good food over decor, then this place is for you.

The food here is absolutely delicious. Even though they have an English menu, we were not familiar with Cape Verde dishes, so we just picked randomly and were not disappointed. Big portions (we ordered to 1/2 sizes). Only downside is the wine, though inexpensive, was not good. Learned my lesson and will get a beer on tap next time.

Good place to eat some food from Cape Verde and Angola. I will update this review as i didn't have the main dish yet. The Mango mousse was amazing and the Muamba was good too but honestly i have eaten better Muamba. Anyhow their main is Cachupa which i didn't have it yet. The staff was super friendly.

Great comfy heartwarming food. The spicy sauce is so tasty and the cachupa is a full-time banger. Really fair prices too.

Ordered the cachupa especial, was great. Really hearty, tasty slow cooked stew (ordered the large one for two people). Very simple place with good food, and cheap house wine.

One of the most delicious places I’ve ever eaten in. Super fresh and special food from Cape Verde. And super nice chef and waiter.

Excellent service and tasty food! I had the beef & cassava with a side of rice. My meal was fresh, well seasoned, and absolutely delicious! The piri piri sauce that came out with the cassava chips was very tasty as well. I also enjoyed some plantains. I visited the restaurant as a part of the African Lisbon tour! Perfect way to end the tour.
