Chef Miles Tamboli channels Delta-Italian roots into seasonal pies with local farm produce. Praised by local food writers, the menu riffs on Memphis flavors—like a Dancing Pigs BBQ chicken pie—while staying true to Italian technique.

After a basketball game, my friend and I decided to visit Tamboli’s. When we arrived, we noticed there was not much good parking, so it took a little while to find a spot. When we walked into Tamboli’s, our hostess greeted us and immediately seated us at our table. The dining area was so beautiful. There were a lot of different interesting paintings around the business. Our waitress quickly took our orders and was patient with us. I was impressed that she remembered our orders without a notepad and pen. It was nice looking at the paintings while waiting for our food. I ordered a custom pizza with Pepperoni and Salami. My friend also ordered a custom pizza but with Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, and Banana Peppers. We both agreed that Tamboli’s has the best pizza in Memphis. The Pepperoni and Salami Pizza is simple, but so good. Their Pepperoni and Salami just work so well with each other. I can’t forget about the crust. The crust helps with adding to the flavors of both the Pepperoni and Salami. In conclusion, everyone needs to try Tamboli’s.

Atmosphere was cozy & I liked the plant vines! Food was pretty good for the most part. The chicken cesar salad & cheese sticks with marinara were a hit! The pizza margarita not as good as I expected it to be. The kid straw noodles were delish!

Food was amazing with the exception of the garlic bread. Their were 5 of us and we each loved our orders. From the pizza all the way through pasta. The prices are more than reasonable, the location is also good they actually have parking spaces, and lastly the service was exceptional. We will definitely go back and would recommend highly.

Google
Cute little restaurant with friendly service. We went early so there was no wait or crowds. Came here because I was craving a good vodka pasta, but it was completely overshadowed by the lemon pepper pasta. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t really satiate the craving and just left me wishing I ordered the lemon pepper instead. The arancini was pretty good.

Google
first off the food is great. saw all the photos of the pizza and it didn’t disappoint. wife also loved her fresh pasta vodka vegeterian. hope to come back. my only one constructive feedback is the service felt a little dazed or spacey. our server forgot our salad 🥗 (despite recommending to us how good it is when we ordered it) so we cancelled it at the end of the meal, and little things like just not offering to open the door when carrying a car seat (as plenty of staff are around) felt a little off. when we asked for plates with the appetizer the other server just kinda handed two plates to me in hand, which again, not a big deal, just didn’t feel right. either way was enjoyable to spend our little ones first bday meal and they were cool about a little shouting baby, so i appreciate that. would def try to ask for a bigger table if you have a kid and need a little space.

I no longer live in Memphis, but every time I return, I go out of my way to eat at Tamboli's. The fresh pasta is incredible; the lemon pepper is my absolute favorite, with the spicy vodka following closely behind. They also have had some notable specials, like a Cajun pasta, that have been excellent too. The pizza is as you would expect from wood-fired, but they use high-quality ingredients from start to finish. I've never had an item here that was just okay; everything is fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly, attentive, and accommodating, making the whole experience positive every time.

Google
I cannot emphasize enough how delicious the food was at this restaurant!!! The restaurant itself is gorgeous, and the staff is kind and helpful. I have severe food allergies they were able to accommodate no problem! I had the most delicious meal of my entire life here. I had their salmon special, and days later I'm still thinking about it. I'm a Memphis native and can say heartily, this is one of the BEST restaurants in the city!

Google
One of the best happy hours in Memphis. Fresh ingredients and they back it up by listing their local farms on a board. Large portions at fair prices at well. I’ve never had a bad meal here. Atmosphere couldn’t be better either.

Yelp
Website says no same day reservations ONLINE- but to please call to make a reservation on the same day. I call and hostess says we do not accept same day reservations but to just walk in. I kindly explain what the website says. Anyway- she let me know that I was wrong and to just walk in but I will probably wait for a while and would not just give me a reservation or suggest a better time to come in. --Always enjoy eating here and nice ambiance but find this a bit off putting and is probably why I don't come here more often.

Yelp
Tamboli's is my favorite pizza place in Memphis! They have tons of options, and their pasta is wonderful as well. The service was fast and friendly. I also was there in time for happy hour and got two glasses of wine for the price of one.

Yelp
Loved that this was real wood-fired oven pizza. Nice and thin, great ingredients. We all enjoyed the pepperoni pizza. The only issue I had was 2 pizza's cost us over $74.00 (no drinks, got it to go) and there was so little ingredients on them. I ordered garlic on one and none of tasted a once of garlic... which usually has the strongest flavor profile. Great service and the ambiance vibe is relaxing, you will enjoy that a lot.

Yelp
Food was amazing, as usual. Our server was very attentive. We were here early on a week night and we had the place to ourself. Came in during happy hour and got the 1 topping for $15 and two Cesar salads. The pepperoni pizza was awesome. They use the perfect sauce/bread ratio. Chill and laid back, and we enjoy coming here.

Yelp
I've only been here twice so far, but I've really enjoyed my meal both times. They also have weekly specials (get on their email list!) and those are 20% off during their happy hour from 4:00-6:00. They also have a Thursday pizza deal which is their Formaggio pizza for only $10.93 all night! Great, deal! For the table, we ordered the weekly special of truffle frites, and that was 10/10. I don't love thick potatoes but the sauce made them to die for. I would get it again if they brought that back! I ordered the drink special..but, I cant remember what it was. It was very tasty...a little sweet, but not too much! Then I ordered the Formaggio pizza as my main meal and it was full of flavor and cheese! It's also a good size for sharing or if you want leftovers. To end we ordered the Tiramisu, which was recommended by the waitress and said it was a popular dessert. It was good and soft, but I don't think I'd go out of my way to get it again. They have too many fun rotating items that I'd probably try next.

Yelp
I had this pizza delivered by my wonderful wife while stuck in The Med. Had I had it fresh, I am positive it would have been even better. The pizza was crafted ever so lovingly by a Tamboli's expert. They must have been touched by a pizza god! We had the double pepperoni junt, it was covered in copious amounts of pepperonis and cheese. The crust was soft, but also firm enough not to droop and fold. Even after the ride to the place and then up to my room. Impressive. I loved the parm coating it had, yum! It may have been the massive amounts of opioids I was consuming at that time, but I made food noises that I'm not sure I've ever made. It was so substantial I only had one piece. I was mad she took it home and I couldn't hoard it for later. Joy and misery is the way it rolls in the hospital I suppose. '24 - 10/100

Yelp
If you want real wood-fired pizza, you must come here! It's located in Midtown in a quiet area with some other restaurants. The inside feels like a cozy but modern cafe. Each week, they offer different special menu items which are 20% during happy hour from 4:00-6:00. They even offer dairy-free and vegan options! Our food was served so quickly, I would say within less than 10 minutes. The server was enthusiastic and one of the kindest people I've witnessed in the service industry. I can't wait to come back and enjoy the patio in warmer weather!

Yelp
Tambolis is such a refreshing spot in Memphis! Fresh ingredients always, hot hot hot food always, and top tier service. The vibe is so cute inside and the bar is one of those where you can go alone and feel right at home.

Yelp
I've taken food to go, but this was the first time dining in. We had no reservation, so the seats were on a long table behind the hostess desk. Not terrible, but hey that's what we get for no reservation. So if you can plan ahead, do it. A few of us got the Sicilian pizza and one of us got pasta. Everything was really delicious and at a good price. The reason for the loss of 1 star for me was their sangria, it was a white sangria that was way too sweet. My buddy has a whiskey sour, and I thought the same thing about it.

Yelp
I'm not sure if this place is racist or if it's just the young lady with Pink hair that's hosting tonight "March 2nd @7:00pm". But we got turned away for not having a reservation but several (Caucasian) people came in behind us who was actually seated. I even asked one if he had one, he clearly stated no and was waiting to be seated. I asked if we could wait as well, she stated no walks -ins because they are s0

Yelp
We were looking for a new place to try before a show downtown and came across this on a Yelp search. We hadn't been to this location since it was Fuel, which we enjoyed, and weren't sure what to expect but the menu looked good. I'm glad we ended up going, as we really enjoyed ourselves and found the food to be really solid and of good quality, which isn't always the case for pasta places. Since that first visit, we've been back a few times, and the food has been just as good. The only inconsistency here is the service, and for us, continuing to run into payment issues. Food-wise, though, you can't go wrong. We've tried the meatballs, various pastas (my favorite was the lemon pepper one), a couple of the appetizers, and a pizza - everything was fantastic. Really, I can't imagine something being bad here. Try everything! As for the payment and service issue; it hasn't mattered whether we have tried to pay with one credit card, split credit cards, gift cards, or what not - there is always an issue that seems to prevent an easy checkout process. I'm not sure what it is, but it's irritating. As for the service, it's just a bit inconsistent, and at a place with a pretty good vibe and an excellent product, that's surprising. It shouldn't stop you from going but good to be aware of.

Yelp
Tamboli's hands down has the best pizza and pasta in Memphis. Vick did an excellent job serving my friends and I. Her personality was lovely and positive. She recommended great food items of us to try. We ended up ordering the Bavette Steak, Cheesy Garlic Sticks , Bruschetta, Dancing Pigs BBQ Chicken Pizza, and Lemon Pepper Fettuccine with Chicken. All of it was delicious. I love the fact that Tamboli's pasta and pizza is handmade. The atmosphere was pleasant, it wasn't too loud. You couldn't hear the next tables voices which I liked. The down fall was parking on the street. I wish they had a better parking system just to be safe leaving and coming to the restaurant.

Yelp
Food was excellent trying the signature lemon pepper pasta (different) but in a good way Service was excellent sat at the bar and staff super friendly The environment is par for the course a few interesting decorations, I would have liked to visit the dining area but it was a week day and they weren't offering the full menu The coffee was excellent also tried the pistachio gelato . Good spot to get your carb fix

Delois V.

Yelp
I had a wonderful time here at Tamboli's. The food is super tasty and amazing for the price. The service is also very attentive and polite. The ambiance is also super cozy and the interior is amazing. 5 stars.

Yelp
I visited Memphis from out of town and was craving some pasta and stumbled upon this place. The service was good, the waitress was very friendly. The lemon pepper fettuccine (add shrimp) was divine, it even tasted delicious the next day for leftovers. The spicy vodka garganelli (add chicken) was also good, and had a little bit of a kick to it which I love. The caesar salad was just OK, the dressing was a little too thick for my personal liking, making it hard to get it evenly across all the lettuce. We got a bottle of Pinot Grigio for $31, which honestly isn't terrible for what restaurants usually charge you for a bottle. After taxes (before tip), a salad, two pasta dishes, and a bottle of wine the total came out to $95. I had a party of two on a Saturday night around 6 pm, I did not make reservations and we had no wait time. I would suggest making reservations with a larger party just to be safe. It was a nice, quiet, date night destination!

Yelp
I heard Tamboli's was solid and my friends did mot lie to me. The nightly appetizer offering was solid in terms of flavor, serving size, and plating. Their meatballs were a great choice. Again, the serving size was large enough for me to take some home, and they were clearly prepared well. The meat was tender and not over-worked. The blend of meats produced a great flavor. The sauce was flavorful, hefty, but fresh.

Yelp
Great environment and service at this little Italian joint! Food comes out hot and fresh. I recommend the Arancini with spicy ranch. It's delicious! I tried the spicy vodka pasta which was also amazing!

Emmaya E.

Yelp
Perfect place for a date night, the food was really good! The rice balls were amazing, it was very expensive, but worth going to every once in a while. Good service too.

V G.

Yelp
Food always great, however the person who was to seat us was rude and not accommodating. We got there right as they opened for 4pm service. There was barely anyone there but she wanted to seat us around the corner in the VERY BACK of the restaurant. We only had 3 people. We asked to move closer to front, it was a problem; we also asked about an open 6 Topper, she said it was 'reserved.' We UNCOMFORTABLY sat at the bar with my 76 yr old mother. I was angry and appalled. I also heard this particular waitress is ALWAYS rude. It's unfortunate that ONE person can put such a bad taste in your mouth at a very cool establishment. Everyone else was kind and friendly.

Yelp
We've been to Tamboli's before and liked it fine. Tonight, however, was the absolute worst dining experience that we've had in Memphis. Our server was Max and he should explore other job opportunities, because he is awful in his current position. After we were seated, he passed our table many times AND made eye contact before we were made aware that he was our server. After quite some time, we had to flag him down so we could order. We had to ask about our beer more than once, when my husband could see it sitting on the bar. When our pizza was delivered he didn't bother to bring plates and had to wait a good long while to get them. The check? We also asked 3 times for it. We will absolutely NOT return.
google avatar

Gabbie E.

Yelp
This was some of the best pizza we've ever had! We got the BBQ chicken pizza and the marinara pasta. Both were AMAZING!!! They also have a mocktail menu which is so fun! Highly recommend

Anne E.

Yelp
Delicious food, interesting menu -- many, many things I wanted to order. We split the half Pizzaiolo Salad -- it is HUGE and splitting the half salad is equivalent to a side salad in most restaurants. Creamy parmesan dressing is delicious. But y'all -- the lemon pepper fettucine is one of the most delicious pasta dishes I've had in Memphis. Ever. It is creamy, good crunch from the toasted breadcrumbs, and the lemon flavor is delightful without being overwhelming. Truly unique and I've already made plans to go back, just to order that again. Waitstaff is helpful, friendly and attentive. The chianti selection is delicious and reasonably priced. Took off one star because the floor is uneven and my glass of wine slid off the table -- no one's fault but messy and embarrassing and wine splashed on our neighbors. I will eat here again, and soon!

Yelp
Smashing food and service. Fresh local ingredients. I had the double pepperoni pizza - great!!

Yelp
I searched for fresh pasta and stumbled upon this gem. Very quaint and intimate setting. Service was really good and food was amazing.

Julie I.

Yelp
Food is good, and that has kept me coming back as much as I have. But it is not inexpensive and the service is terrible - the people are unfriendly. It's difficult to get a seat and waiting on counterspace isn't a good option as seats seem to be given out preferentially since it wasn't offered to me an my friend, but was to the couple right behind us. Takeout is always late and slow, and then when you wait around the staff is rude to you. Try offering people who are waiting something to drink and maybe something small to nibble on like some small pieces of garlic bread or bread and olive oil. Might make the wait more tolerable. Oh gosh I got home with my order. My $9 cesar salad is worth about $2 and had no dressing. I bet my pizza is missing some of the add ons, too. I need to find another Italian joint. ( Turns out my pizza is cold. So the extra 15 minutes I was kept waiting means my pizza was done and no one bothered to get it to me while I sat there waiting for it. Yup - done with the aggravation. Sux because the pasta and pizza are so g. d. good.

Yelp
What a neighborhood gem for fresh pasta and pizza! We were visiting Memphis on a road trip and were staying at a local hotel. Our search for food on our first afternoon/evening, brought us to Tamboli's. When we came on Tuesday, normally we would have only been able to do takeout (which we didn't know was the case). However, we got lucky, as the owner decided to do bar seating and a limited menu instead. So we hopped on some bar stools and got settled in. All of the staff members were so genuinely welcoming and friendly. We shared some life stories and also received tips of what we should visit while in Memphis. After we started off with some drinks, my mom ordered one of the pastas with chicken added. I built my own pizza with a bunch of random ingredients and added the honey drizzle (OMG SO GOOD). All of the ingredients are sourced from local farms, which are listed on a blackboard next to the kitchen entrance. We ended up taking leftovers back because the portions are quite sizeable. We did still have room to try their milky Panna Cotta with cereal, which was the perfect treat at the end with our cappuccino. Thank you for having us!

Yelp
We really enjoyed our food at Tamboli's. Menu is somewhat limited -mostly pizzas & pastas but it is all very good. Pizza crust is not real thick but on thicker side. Not doughy at all & with a crispness. We had the vegetarian & it was delicious. We also had the fettuccine with lemon cream sauce & we added sausage. It was also delicious. We weren't served bread with our pasta which we would have liked. Gave 4 stars because our Martinis were just ok (we'll stick with beer next time). And our waiter wasn't very good. He was a nice enough guy but either wasn't in the right job or was stoned. He took our group's orders at different times, mixed things up, forgot stuff, etc. probably forgot our bread. But we will happily return & hope for a different waiter.

Yelp
Food is always very good. Service recently has really sucked! Actually brought us a bottle of wine that had not been uncorked. Such a shame...

Yelp
Let's start with the positive - we were happy to see the "counter order" service was gone. We have been here before and that kinda felt weird. Came here on Thursday night to support local because we can fire up the ooni and do a cheese pizza ourselves. We are frugal so $12 pizza was good enough for us. Waitress was nice enough even though it was pretty busy. We had beer and specifically asked waitress how much it was to add a topping to the Thursday night special -- she said it was just like adding a topping to any other pizza. Great -- we'll just add pepperoni - $3 more. Check comes -- instead of $14 - we were charged $22 -- told waitresses-- she said yeah would have to check with team lead. Team lead comes - she says - no we have to charge you with "build your pizza". Told her we specifically asked for waitress and was told could pick extra toppings on top of tonight's special. She said this time "I'll take some off". To be honest - it's too much work -- we want to support local but at the same time don't want to be deceived. Not sure that we'll be back soon. Treat your customers right and they will take care of you. We still tipped 20+% but was not happy when we left.

Yelp
Food was amazing. Ordered online and food was immediately available for pickup. Looking to go back as the restaurant looks so cool to dine in. Staff were super friendly and did not waste any time. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I want to give Tamboli's a great review, but, I can't because of our visit last night. It was our second visit, having loved our first experience. It was my wife's birthday and we were looking forward to another great experience, especially having notified them of the special occasion. However, it turned into a so-so experience. First of all, the food was great! I had the spicy Italian pizza, my wife had a pasta dish. Both were excellent! The banana pudding tiramisu was delicious. However, things went sour when the waitress dropped my wife's salad dressing on her. We sat there while she disappeared and came back with simple dry napkins. It seemed like several minutes absence. We were thinking she was getting a damp cloth, or something more suitable for the job. It was not helpful. After that fail, I kept expecting something special for my wife's birthday, not to mention something as an apology for the salad dressing accident. Nothing. No compensation, no offer of a reduction in the bill, not even a free dessert or drink. I am so disappointed in our experience last night. I will think twice before going again. It's a shame, the food is excellent.
google avatar

Greg M.

Yelp
Fun, rustic place to grab pizza, pasta and some drinks. Sarah F was out server, she was great! Very attentive and pleasant. The menu is vast and the portions are generous. The wine by the glass was limited for me, but I like a higher end selection. Overall, great restaurant!
google avatar

Jeanne B.

Yelp
Food and service great. I lost my bracelet there in Dec of 23. I thought it was gone forever. They kept my number and call me 3 months later that it was found. That is great service! Thank you Tamboli's staff for caring about your customer and being honest!

Yelp
Sadly we had salad and pizza Sunday night and both my husband and I ended up so sick.. as we shared the meal.. we did not drink any alcohol either.. so I'm thinking the salad was contaminated..

Yelp
It was amazing!! I love this place!! Can't wait to return! I live about 20 minutes away but sure do wish I lived closer. They need to add one to Southaven!!

Yelp
A bit unique that Tamboli's appears to provide not just food but also ingredients to make your own stuff. That's kind of cool. We opted for the delivery given current 2020 conditions. The name of the place would suggest pasta first, but in my experience, the double-zero pizza, particularly the Italian sausage pizza was the real star -- wood-fired, chewy, crusty. YUM. The pasta was clearly fresh and cooked well, but it was lacking something -- some kind of zest. No complaints just boring. Availability of certain dishes and pricing seems to vary depending on where you order from. The menu on their website ended up being more expensive than equivalent prices in food delivery apps. Weird. Overall, great place, friendly people on the phone, delivered quickly.

Yelp
We were passing through on our way to Tennessee and we stopped in and enjoyed the food so much we stopped again on our way back home. Excellent & delicious!

Yelp
Yo do yourself a favor and get over to Tamboli's. Handmade pizza, handmade pasta, dope staff. It's a very welcoming environment. Super airy and open very good use of that space which I believe was a gas station at some point? Not sure that matters. Anyways. Vegan? No problem, home made vegan cheese are you kidding me? Come on people. Pizzas are stellar I personally like the amount of semolina they be putting on the bottom. Italian sodas are very good as well super into those. They have different flavors you can choose from. This is my go to italianish spot in downtown midtown area. It's the best bang for your buck if in terms of Italian flavors. Cute date night spot imo. They also got a bar where you can go by yourself bar keeps are very kind. Fun to talk to and knowledgeable about the menu. JK was super kind and attentive.

Yelp
Very cool place to take the family!! This was my second visit at this restaurant. We celebrated my daughter's birthday dinner here. The place is real comfortable and it feels like your outside with the tall windows. Very family friendly!! We loved all we ordered from the pasta to the pizzas. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The only reason I can give this place 4 stars is because of the craft cheese. Their pasta has a real homey taste. Why cheap it down with the processed cheese?? Again, if a chain restaurant like OG can provide the real Parmesan/parmesano reggiano cheese, why can't y'all?? The pasta dishes should be elevated with the real cheese. Just saying!! I will still come back though!!

Yelp
There is a great sort of romantic but still casual atmosphere with the fairy lights and rustic decor. Very impressed with the meatballs that we ended up getting the fantastic parmesan garlic bread to dip with. You have to get the pair together. Caesar salad was delightful. The Suprema pizza had a kick that I wasn't expecting but I enjoyed, but I did think the crust was a bit chewy. Overall, I was pleased with the meal, the price, and the service. Would definitely go back!

Yelp
Love the pizza and pasta. Very delicious and warm staff to go along with it. It is a nice family option with large portions to share family style if desired. We will not be strangers.

Yelp
Phenomenal! Ordered take out pizza and it was unbelievably good. Loved the casual and upbeat vibe of the space, and they were very welcoming and helpful in getting my order to me.

Yelp

Yelp
We ordered a specialty pizza and were dissatisfied with the size and quality. It was also very expensive

Yelp
One of our favorite restaurant in the 901! :-) Food/ Service & Ambiance are on point!! Limited parking, but it's worth the visit! :-) Enjoy!

Yelp
I can't believe I didn't do a review after the delicious meal I had. It's been about 4 months ago but everything was delicious. Ingredients were top notch. Very fresh. Staff was great and the artwork was fascinating. I love the whole building actually. Definitely hope to go back again next time I'm in town.

Yelp
This is a favorite of o ne of our children and their mate. Tonight they treated us and we know why they like it so much. We had both a Cacio e Pepe $20) and a Supreme pizza ($22). Two of us favored the Cacio (In fact, my wife thought this was the best pizza she's ever had!)) and the other 2 the Supreme. Both were 14", cooked in a wood-fired stove, and fed 4 adults. I can 't wait to try the Spicy Italian Sausage version and some of the pasta dishes!

Yelp
Food and ambience were good but our service experience was not the greatest. From getting seated not in order of priority to our server completely missing our order, it was filled with an experience where the staff seemed clueless.
