Tamix Mexican food truck

My family ordered the papa asada, some tacos, and a burrito after seeing a YouTube video raving about the place. We opened the burrito after eating everything else only to see a hair nestled inside the foil. That immediately turned us all off from eating. We had decided to bring the food home and couldn’t let them know. We won’t be going back even though the potatoes were good.

One of my favorite taco trucks. Great prices, never gotten sick and the taste is amazing. Don't forget to ask for "jalapeno asados" you'll thank me for it. Great salsas and not over powered with saltiness. I like asking for my tortilla more on the burnt side.

Tried the chicken burrito. The beans and rice had good texture. The chicken was shredded and not dry. Nice salsa bar. One downside was there was a tiny bone left behind in my burrito but it’s okay I didn’t swallow. Good place overall and nice to walk to.

One of the most underrated taco stands in LA. The Al pastor was top notch. Meat to tortilla ratio. Tortilla didn’t stand a chance. The sauces were tasty. Move over Leo’s, we got Tamix now.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! First time trying a fried potato and omg. The vegan fried potato is to die for, also I’m pescatarian (I don’t eat meat only seafood) and the burrito w/ the steak meat is featured in the photos as well.

Our favorite taco stand in LA. We order carne asada and al pastor and have authentic Jamaica and tamarind to wash it down with. It’s where we head to after the beach house. Rounds off our night just perfect then home to bed!

This is my second time for eating al pastor. First time was hate , second one is love. The al pastor quesadilla was perfectly delicious!

Assuming they're affiliated, I've been to the truck on Venice in the Culver/Mar Vista area a few times. This visit would be my first time at this location. This place checks pretty much all the boxes for me in terms of what I really love in taco trucks. Delicious meats, a DIY salsa/toppings bar, really reasonable prices, and friendly people. Came here to get some cabeza tacos. I also added a couple of al pastor tacos to round it out. The tacos and meats are definitely done really well here. I thought they were so delicious and it hits the spot! Not sure if it was because I came here on a week night for dinner or if it was because it was not as busy in the area in general, but the vibe here was more chill. Because it wasn't too busy in the area, especially at night, there was plenty of street parking in the surrounding area.

I have been here probably 40 times over the past 5 years. Live close by so have been for lunch, dinner and late night after going out. It ALWAYS hits, favorite being the Al pastor and the tripa. Tortillas, sides, salsas, all good and always consistent. Prices are responsible too. Love it!

I've been coming here for 8 years, and I've watched the burritos go from $6 all the way up to the current $10, and it's been worth the price for most of the time. I've also recommended this truck to everyone I've met in the past 8 years, as the Al Pastor burrito is the best I've ever had on planet earth. Their Al Pastor beats Leo's by a mile, yet people still flock to Leo's and stand in line for 20 minutes. The Al Pastor quesadillas and gringas are also both amazing. BUT, they sometimes miss, and the misses are becoming more frequent. I eventually realized that the Al Pastor is best after 8pm; they'd open at 6pm and I guess they were re-heating yesterday's meat until they ran out of it, because every burrito I would get before 8pm had very little meat, and it was dry as dirt. So I'd make a point to wait until 8ish to go get a burrito, which improved my chances of getting an amazing burrito, at least for a while. Now you can't even count on that. I just got a burrito at 9pm (writing this at (9:20) and it was so lightweight, and the meat was so dry and hard to eat. It's getting to the point where you have about a 60% chance you'll get a small/dry burrito, or a 40% chance that it'll be the best burrito you'll ever eat in your life. For $10, the odds are not good enough. I've gotta finally stop spending money here, and I've gotta stop recommending it.

This is our go to when we return from and trip and arrive at LAX. We park near by and this just happens to be on our way to the fwy. Anyway, first time reviewing cause usually too tired. Food is really good and it must be because theirs always a line. Go to's are carne asada, Al pastor, buche and carnitas. All good, just depends on the mood. Always get the horchata as well. They fact that you can get your own salsa and other condiments is also a plus. Prices are very reasonable too. Only con may be the service. Cashier seems to alway be in a bad mood, even though we speak Spanish. The taqueros on the other hand are busy, but still remain friendly. Very much worth the visit if your in the neighborhood.

Tasty tacos! The Al Pastor is sooo good! My favorite taco truck around the area! In the the condiment bar, they have three salsas as well as cucumbers and pickled onions.

I tried theirs on Santa Monica blvd, had their tacos and quesadilla. Chicken and beef taco etc.. So far one of the best beef tacos they have. Quesadilla was good, though. They are nice and attentive.

This place had the absolute worst torta I've had in my life and I'm mad ya'll are giving this 4 stars on Yelp.

Very good! Went on a whim and was very satisfied with the tacos. The dude making them did a thing where he cut off the pineapple and caught it as it flew away. It was cool. The tacos were tasty, not mind blowing, but really very good

4.5 stars. My first stop in LA is always a taco truck and I'm glad I got to try Tacos Tamix for the first time. While it appears that many rave about the al pastor, I thought it was solid but could have been a touch more tender to be perfect. However, I only have wonderful things to say about the cabeza - beef cheek. Not only is it tender, it seems to hold its shape better than the cabeza at other taco stands I've been to in LA - Leo's, Brothers Cousins, the one in front of the Mitsuwa on Venice and S Centinela (I believe it's called Tacos El Flaco). So far I declare it the best cabeza taco I've had. They take card so in case you ain't in the know about the taco truck/stand cash only vibe across LA, you still will be able to get your food here. They've got a setup of 2 large tables for you to enjoy it as well. Will be back for the cabeza.

Came here for the first time around 11 PM. I got two Al pastor tacos and a carne asada mulita. Tacos were very good! The mulita was solid, even though it wasn't my favorite item. Although the tacos are great, they're smaller than the tacos I've gotten from other taco trucks in the city, so not as much bang for your buck. That being said, I would definitely come here again.

Stopped by around 1am looking for food and wasn't disapointed at all. These little tacos are so delicious. The lady taking the order was super friendly and walked us east coasters through. These were literatly some of the best tacos ive ever eaten.

The food tastesnice. $2 each taco which is relatively cheap but they're pretty tiny tacos. The seating can get a bit dirty when they're busy and they move around a lot. Maybe it's the nature of their business. Just your classic taco truck!

So good!!! Love the food! Even when it gets busy they work quickly! They have a parking lot, tables and chairs for you to sit down. They take Apple Pay, credit cards and cash.

Good tacos and good pricing! I got the pollo tacos with cheese. The flavors were great and sauces are really flavorful. The workers were kind as well. They have seats to sit out and enjoy your food as well. Very clean and shaded

I met up with two old bros I haven't seen in forever. They weren't feeling up for Korean food, so I suggested getting some Mexican food. They 100% recommend this as their favorite taco truck, so I agreed to come here. The truck is parked on the street next to a parking lot, so that was a huge win. I ordered a tripa quesadilla and the al pastor tacos. The quesadilla was pretty decent food. I loved that it was simple but filling. The tacos were just a win. I don't know what it was, but the food had flavor in every bite. The tortillas weren't drying out and the meat was just tender. Fantastic food and friendly service.

The tacos are absolutely delicious! Service was on point, food ready within minutes. Prices are beyond fair. The pastor is definitely the way to go here. After salsa and tortillas, everything was packaged well to go. He's a parking lot right out front the truck. Highly recommend it!

A hidden gem neighborhood taco truck that's in a pretty low-key spot (aka urban-speak to don't get jumped here) which serves up some really good Al Pastor tacos. Their Al Pastor is on par with the Leo's down the street, and just overall better in every way as a taco spot than El Chato's. Usually get their Al Pastor tacos (which is off a trompo, with pineapple) but I'd also easily recommend their Cabeza, Lengua, and Tripas too. They can make them crispy too if you ask. Some notables include they accept credit cards, full toppings and salsa bar, easy parking, and seating/tables in front of the truck.

Al pastor. This place has been around for at least 6 years and has regularly had the best al pastor. The right mix of crispy and soft meat texture and an on point flavor. The buttery papa asada is an interesting take I have never tried before

Messed up my order and when I politely asked them to please fix my order they made a huge deal. Sucks because I love coming here but will never be back.

Some of my favorite tacos in LA! The Cabeza and Al Pastor here are life-changing. The Cabeza is very savory and packed with flavor, and the Al Pastor is cooked perfectly every time. The tacos are $1.50, the salsa/toppings bar is well-stocked, and there is a small parking lot and seating area next to the truck. Highly recommend stopping by!

The Champurrado here is phenomenal. Like a warm hug from the inside out. Their tacos and salsas are also perfectly seasoned and *chefs kiss*

If you add their onions, don't expect to kiss anyone that night. I always get my usual when I get tacos from a truck - lengua and cabeza. This place did a good job of satisfying what I'm missing out on when I'm in the bay. The topping bar is really good and you can load up your tacos for even more flavor. The prices are really decent as well because they last thing you want is to spend more money after a night out. Overall, there needs to be one in the bay.

Highly recommend. Their al pastor definitely competes with the other well known trucks around the area, but where Tacos Tamix shines is their salsa roja. Their red salsa is legitimately the best one around the area. It has a deep toasted spicy flavor with a soft creamy texture -- really it's the most unique.

Comparable to Leo's, but Tamix actually had better salsa I think. They both also have champurrado as a regular menu item! But I prefer Tamix champurrado as Leo is overly sweet and with Tamix you can actually taste the masa. I had the carnitas burrito and horchata and both were great. The people working were nice and fast. And they wopen even during corona virus

Soooo good! I tried Tacos Tamix a few years back at Tacolandia which sadly I believe has been shut down and have dreamed of their Tacos Al Pastor ever since. Had them again last night and they did not disappoint! I devoured 2 al pastor and 2 asada and still had room for more tacos but didn't want to be too much of a fat girl. The service was spot on, their outside salsa bar had all the fixins, several little tables to sit and eat on (they were all full but not a turn off for me, I ate in my car) and licked my fingers clean because of how good my tacos were! I'll definitely be back soon to get my taco fix!

Late taco run with the husband. Low key saw this taco truck in the freeway . It was at that moment we knew we had to get a taste. No regrets at all place is clean well lit if ur visiting at night. Has a little sitting area pretty chill and food was delish. Most def will b coming back!!

This taco truck is the best in the area. I haven't had tongue tacos this good in LA. The prices are a flat $1.50 each. The truck is extremely clean, the service is fast ,and courteous, the portions are super generous, the sauces are really good but spicy (beware). Their champurrado is really good too. I am so happy to have such an authentic taco truck in the neighborhood.

Easily the best tacos al pastor I've ever had. Carved straight from the spit (fridays and saturdays only), topped with a small chunk of pinneapple, a generous portion of the meat tower falls into your two warmed flour tortillas. So amazing that all it needs is a little sprinkle of onions and cilantro - no salsa required. The texture of the meat is so soft, so tender, you may let out of soft moan. The crispy charred exteriors will make you want to grunt with satisfaction. And the flavor of the awesome marinade - reminiscent to Chinese char siu pork on steroids, will hurtle you into a full-fledged taco-gasm. And at only a buck a pop, the price is right. They also offer asada, cabeza, tripas, buche, and lengua. The lengua and cabeza are pretty good but what you'd expect from any other decent taco truck. The tripas are buche are a step up - very tender and flavorful. The salsas are solid but I wouldn't call them remarkable, and unfortunately no limes, just lemons at this stand.

So glad we found this taco truck!! Their pastor tacos are THE BEST AROUND! And the salsas are really good too, can't wait to go back and try the horchata

this is the one place i can always rely on for having great food when i can't decide anything else or i get fearful of not liking another truck since this one is amazing! They for sure get busy and i totally understand. Wish they were open all day!

We usually hit this place up after the club. They have the best Al Pastor tacos ever! It's shaved from the spit and comes with a slice of pineapple. Did I mention they are only $1? What you need to know: -They are across the shopping center with Yoshinoya on Pico & Tremaine. This is a food truck so don't expect a stand alone restaurant. -They only do the spit from Fri-Sun and close around 3AM. -Cash only

This place is excellent. There's really just not a whole lot left to say. I typically get an asada burrito, pollo or carnitas quesadilla and a Jarritos. Their inverted pastor pyramid is devilish as well, so sweet and tender, works best for tacos or mulitas in my opinion. Their carnitas is fire too. They offer tongue and stomach (I think) as well, which admittedly I haven't tried, but now I'm thinking I'll head on down there now and eat some delectable lengua. COVID has altered their hot sauce bar situation a bit, but they still offer pre-bagged jalapenos, limes, radishes, grilled onions, onions & pico de gallo. And the liquid sauces are still available. Someone close to me would go to war for their thick green avocado sauce; my personal favorite it the traditional roja (red) sauce. The verde is great too and in pre-pandemic times they had a robust, smoky dark red sauce (sorry I don't know what the hell it's called) that was very good (but STRONG - just a dab will do ya). This place is awesome, I'm lucky I live close; stop by if you can - we're down here in the taco truck district of Los Angeles, and this place is better than anything on Venice & La Brea. DO NOT BE A FOOL AND MISS THIS TACO TRUCK

Am I the only one amused that some of the best al pastor in the city is found in the parking lot of a Kosher market? It's the green truck that says "El Latino catering" on it and will scroll Tacos Tamix across the LED marquee. I did a Tacos Leo vs. Tacos Tamix al pastor crawl/showdown. The only way to compare is to eat both at once, and they're really only a few blocks from each other. Tacos Tamix definitely won on delicious crispiness, parking, and lack of a line. I'm ok with it not being the hip pastor spot if it means I don't need to wait. Others may find it kind of sketchy to be so empty. I went at 11 pm on a Saturday, so the spit was out (only on weekends) but not roaring as it wasn't dinner or post bar. They threw it on the griddle, which made it drier than it needed to be but added a nice crisp. It strangely reminded me of really great char siu, complete with a reddish orange hue and sweetness. I enjoyed watching the guy slice a pineapple and catch it a few feet lower. Tacos Leo was more tender, perhaps fattier and had much fresher salsas and other additions. The much brighter lighting in the gas station doesn't hurt either. Tacos are $1 each and a horchata $1.50. I'm going back at dinner or late night to see if it's even better when the spit is fully turning.

I LOVE TAMIX!! I have so many great memories eating these tacos and alambre plates on the plastic chairs they set up outside with my friends. All around great experience and very nice people running the truck

Tldr; decent taco truck with little to no wait Two friends and I were excited to get tacos on a Tuesday night a few weeks ago (Taco Tuesday !!) so we drove from West LA to La Brea area to get to our favorite taco truck (El Chato). We were let down that the lot where they're usually at was empty with no truck to be seen. We went to our next favorite (Leo's) hoping we'd at least get their Al Pastor tacos, but there was a huge mob of people there. We waited at the end of the line for about 10 minutes but didn't appear to move at all. We found this place through Yelp, saw the decent star rating, and decided to give it a try. It was a bit challenging to locate this taco truck, but once we got there, we saw there was plenty of parking. We waited for one customer before we got to order. I had one Lengua and one Al Pastor with horchata. I like that they had a lot of condiments and hot sauces to choose from. Oh and also it was nice that they had a huge hand sanitizer. Tbh the lengua I had was pretty salty but the Al Pastor was good. I wouldn't choose this location over my go-to's, but hey, the food was decent and I didn't get food poisoning that night.

The tacos here are pretty decent. Not the most central location but worth the trek. I tried the carne Asada . Yummy

i legit fuck with this truck like twice a week the pico de gallo is powerful and the al pastor makes me believe in heaven open late and great and cheap the red sauce should be sold nationally it is incredible

Good tacos especially the asada,chorizo and tripas! Dnt forget the lemons and the cilantro and unions which makes the tacos more flavorbale.

Their tacos are 1 dollar each. The al pastor is carved right off the spit. They have usually 4 different salsas. Limes, and these pickled onions that are spicy. They are near the corner where tacos leo, el gallito is but imo is better then both and much shorter line. They usually close up around 3 depending on business. Pastor is the way to go.

Interesting taco spot , they have all kinds of meats to choose from . Luckily it didn't get too crowded ever at night even . The meats are rather dry compared to most taco spots and the salsa bar is really bad . One plus is the tacos are pretty cheap so you get your money's worth

Tacos are legit my brother an I have been trying to find a decent taco truck in the mid city / ktown area and after long hours a driving up and down the streets of LA we found this spot. Not kidding when I say that their al pastor is fire. So BOMB!

Such bomb pastor! They slice it off the rotator right in front of you and it's so tasty ugh I want more!! Hopefully this place is still around next time I'm in the downtown area.
