Came in here with a friend after he recommended it and realized upon getting there that Mythical Coffee bought out Maverick Coffee, which used to occupy this building. While Maverick was good, Mythical has really transformed the place, enlarging the dining area considerably, though part of the place is still under construction. No matter; the place is looking great, with plenty of space and a much more inviting environment. That said, how's the coffee? Well, if what I ordered is any indication, things are off to a great start. As a lover of banana pudding and also a lover of coffee, I never thought I'd see some sort of combination of the two that would be anything other than gross. But at Mythical Coffee, the banana pudding latte on their Winter 2.0 menu will have you wondering how you ever doubted the two flavors could be anything less than made for each other. How they manage to get those two tastes to work together is...well...mystical rather than mythical, but however they do it, they will have me coming back for another one lickety-split--and then maybe again to try one of the other mouthwatering combinations on the menu, like the vanilla mint nitro or the sage honey latte. Makes you wonder what sort of masterpieces will show up on the Spring 3.0 menu. :o) On my way out, I grabbed a cold brew for the road and, while it wasn't my absolute favorite in terms of the notes, I enjoyed it and appreciated the quality. If you're a bit hungry, the pastries are high quality, too, including the raspberry lemon scone I sampled. Delicious. The pricing isn't exorbitant, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Mythical Coffee is new in this part of town, and it should be a new option on anyone's short list of local coffeehouses to haunt.
