Very quaint market hall with lots of history. It's almost 125 years old and they primarily sell food. There are multiple little restaurants, cafes, and shops selling produce and animal products, definitely check them all out. There are a few shops for other stuff but that's only 1 lane on the south east side. I really enjoyed strolling around the hall, it's very well preserved and just has a great atmosphere. This is a must visit when coming to Tampere, I will definitely return when I'm ever back in this city.

Warm atmosphere that feels both historic and authentic. You can find everything from fresh bread and pastries that smell divine to high-quality meats and cheeses. And the local produce? It’s fresh, vibrant, and full of flavor. if you’re ever in Tampere, this market hall is a must-visit. It’s more than just a place to shop it's a real slice of Finnish life. Highly recommended! Free parking (1h) is available in Sokos.

Eat here!! This meal was amazing and I would’ve easily paid double and it would’ve still been worth it. I will eat here next time in Tampere. Eat here!!

We decided to visit Tampere's Kauppahalli while searching for a place to eat lunch. The market place is completely hidden inside a big building from 1901. It was very lively inside the hall. There are many shops and restaurants. The atmosphere was amazing and would recommend everyone to visit (as it is basically on the main square). One note though: the toilets were disgusting.

crowded and difficult to find a place to sit for a meal but there were lots of options and interesting stalls! there's a great senegal soul food restaurant here that opened recently! definitely worth a try :)

On the chilly day we visited Kauppahalli, it was very busy, teeming with people. Very welcoming atmosphere, beautiful fish, meat and vegetables. Many small restaurants but a bit too busy to my liking so after we enjoyed this beautiful place, we went to the Tampere Library on the big square to eat a nice fresh sandwich in peace and quiet ☺️.

Such a cute place to stop by and one that I really hope can be kept alive. I recommend stting down to have a coffee and to absorb the old school vibes. Really takes you back to a different time. My grandma really loves this place for the nostalgia factor. There are a bunch of different little stalls you can check out. You can buy veggies, meats, baked goods, artisinal foods etc. and there are quite a few different cafe and restaurant options.

Yelp
This is a wonderful indoor market hall located centrally in Tampere, with a large variety of local and international food selections inside. There are quite a few vegetarian options, including baked goods, and everything I tried was delicious. I don't remember the name of the bakery, but one of the stalls sells a type of cake called "perunaleivos" (included in the pictures I uploaded) - it's one of the most amazing pastries I've ever tried and I highly recommend it. The chocolate shop is also spectacular. They have unique flavors of truffles like rose white chocolate. Buy an assortment of flavors so you can try as many as you can!

Yelp
Such a great spot! Every kind of food you could need, and everything was delicious and well-made. If you can't decide on what to eat in your traveling group, this place is for you For reference, our group was visiting from the US, and had no issues. If you are worried about a language barrier, most folks speak enough English to make a transaction with you/answer questions! And it doesn't hurt if you speak a little Finnish too :)

Yelp
This is an indoor market so you won't freeze when visiting in the winter. The selection for meats and vegetables are great; you can buy moose, rain deer, and horse meat from the guys in blue shirts. The fresh fish there is insanity delicious. The bakeries are kind of a miss for me, only the bread is good, pastries kind of suck and a lot if them aren't fresh. There are a lot of cafés, coffee is good but their sandwiches aren't great. Sometimes they have live music which wasn't bad.

Yelp
Traditional market place in Finnish cities. Small shops, cafes, restaurants, crafts, food etc. near the city center. From here you can find the freshest fish, meat and bakery goodies in Tampere. The prices might be a bit more expensive than in your supermarket but this is located in the city center and has a unique market place feeling to it. Lot's of good restaurants are also inside. If you want to find some tasty lunch in the city center you might wan't to wander in to Kauppahalli and you will have many restaurants you can choose from.

Yelp
The best place to get groceries in Tampere, such a lovely marketplace. I especially like the cheese shop (juustopuoti), great service and brilliant cheeses! You can also get high quality fish and meat from Kauppahalli. Be sure to visit the restaurant 4 vuodenaikaa while there during lunch hour!

Yelp
My favorite Halli in Finland, better than either one in Helsinki. I grew up going to this one in the summers and I love that the same vendors are still there. I also like that they don't sell a ton of tourist garbage like tshirts and junk, it's really a shopping place for the locals. Also a great place to meet up with friends for coffee.
