Katy Asian Town’s Best Restaurants | Eater Houston

"Tan Tan Wok in Katy Asian Town boasts the same menu of Chinese Vietnamese classics as its sister restaurant on Bellaire Boulevard. Find bánh bột chiên, a fried rice flour cake covered in eggs, sizzling seafood dishes, and crispy noodles; portions are large and are meant to be shared family style. Fans should not expect the same late-night hours as its Bellaire location — Tan Tan Wok in Katy closes at 9 p.m. daily." - Minh Truong

Amazing food with even better hospitality. My girlfriend treated me here as a gift for my HVAC work, and it was a special treat. The portions are nice, the food is tasty, and the prices are well worth it in my opinion. Great job!

Tan Tan Wok and Jia Kitchen share the same owner and are connected. The portions are generous, and the prices are affordable. Recommended dishes include: • Char siu dry egg noodles • Broken rice with grilled pork • Stir-fried egg or rice noodles or any stir-fried dishes • Fried rice

I recently visited this spot when in the area. I ordered the wonton noodle soup, house rice cake, Thai sweet chili wings, and chicken fried rice, and everything was absolutely delicious. The flavors were on point, and the portions were generous. The place was packed, which speaks to its popularity, but despite being understaffed, the staff was still friendly. Service was a bit slow, but it didn’t take away from the great food. I’ll definitely come back when I’m in the area!

We love their banh bot chien. I usually get the rice plate with 3 meat and hubby gets their wonton egg noodle soup. He got the pan fried flat noodles this time. It's good if you eat it fresh. We took the leftovers home and it was mushy when reheated. Service is good.

Tan Tan Wok is a great place to come celebrate any occasion with a great meal. We came on New Year’s Eve and our service was still amazing and fast, despite being packed. In terms of the food, we loved everything we tried. The highlight of the evening was the House Special Rice Cake. It was super soft and crispy, with lots of chewy rice cakes. The Flat Noodles had a great fresh texture and came with plenty of beef and a delicious, savory gravy. The Roasted Duck was good, although a little bland. However, when eaten with the chili sauce, it is a great dish. The Baby Bok Choy was a super fresh addition to the meal, a great contrast to the rest of the meal. I LOVED the Peach Green Tea. It was super sweet with some real fruit pieces inside. I thought the price was a little steep, but it came in a huge carafe, with enough tea to fill 4 of these juice glasses. Overall, we loved the food and the bright, active atmosphere of Tan Tan Wok. I look forward to returning in the future.

Food is always good here I love getting the seafood fried rice And my absolute favorite is the house rice cake! I could come here everyday and eat the bot chien with rice almost everyday! Now they were busy so it took awhile to get our check But it was lunch time so it is what it is. But definitely come try their food!

Google
Good place for vietnamese and chinese cuisine. We ordered crispy egg noodles with seafood combination, fried rice with dried fish, Pekin duck with steamed baos buns, chinese broccoli with garlic sauce, snowpeas, green beans, fried chicken with sweet rice cake. Good addition to the community in Katy, TX

If you’re searching for an unforgettable Vietnamese-Chinese dining experience in Katy Asian Town, look no further than Tan Tan Wok. Our recent visit left us absolutely delighted, and I can’t recommend this spot highly enough! From the moment we arrived, the spacious and well-decorated dining room set the stage for a relaxing meal. The service was impressively quick and attentive, with dishes arriving piping hot and beautifully presented. Vietnamese Soup: A Standout Star We started with their Vietnamese soup, and it was a revelation. The broth was rich and aromatic, with a subtle depth of flavor that set it apart from any other pho or noodle soup we’ve tried in the area. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the generous portions of protein and fresh herbs made every spoonful a delight[4]. This is the kind of soup that warms your soul and keeps you coming back for more. Top Side Dishes: A Culinary Adventure Tan Tan Wok’s menu is vast, but their side dishes truly shine. The House Special Rice Cake (banh bot chien) is a must-try-crispy on the outside, light and bouncy inside, with the perfect egg-to-rice cake ratio and a tangy soy vinaigrette for dipping[1][4]. We also loved the Vietnamese Fried Egg Rolls, which were golden, crunchy, and packed with flavor. The Salt and Pepper Squid was another highlight: perfectly tender with a crunchy coating, just the right amount of garlic and chili, and utterly addictive. Other favorites from our table included the eggplant with basil (savory and aromatic), and the stir-fried seafood with crispy noodles, which balanced a delicate crisp with a saucy, savory stir fry on top. Every dish showcased fresh ingredients and expert wok technique, delivering that coveted smoky “wok hei” flavor. Final Thoughts Tan Tan Wok is a culinary gem in Katy Asian Town. Whether you’re craving comforting Vietnamese soup or eager to sample a variety of top-notch side dishes, this family-owned spot delivers on all fronts. The flavors are bold and authentic, the portions generous, and the atmosphere welcoming. We left fully satisfied and already planning our next visit-don’t miss out on this neighborhood treasure!

Yelp
Most of the dishes I tried here are pretty good: bánh bọt chiên (fried rice cake with egg) Cơm chiên bơ lúc lắc (shaking beef with fried rice) beef cubes of beef are cut big so the beef is a little tough mì hoành thánh kho (egg noodles with wontons) served dry with broth on the side green beans with minced pork hủ tiếu Xào áp chảo (flat rice noodles extra crispy) the extra crispy edges soak up the sauce Would come back again as they have an extensive menu for all eaters.

Yelp
A friend highly recommended this spot, and even though I live nearby, I never checked it out until recently for a grad dinner lol! Their menu is endless! Every dish we ordered was spectacular! We got the fried rice, flat noodles, steamed and fried eggplant, mapo tofu, and the walnut shrimp. The beef flat noodles were one of my favs. It had a nice charred flavor. Only comment is that the beef was dry and tough. The fried eggplant was amazinggg. I've only eaten eggplant steamed so the crispiness of the fried eggplant was the best, and it was seasoned well. The mapo tofu flavor wasn't too intense (regarding the numbing sensation). It was a warm and hearty dish. The walnut shrimp was the star of the show - crispy and sweet (loved the candied walnuts). There was plenty of seating! Service was quick!! Since the restaurant is located in the heart of Katy Asian town, parking can be a bit challenging.

Yelp
Tan Tan Wok comes from the roots of the popular late night eatery in chinatown bellaire, Tan Tan. I remember the post clubbing nights and drunken eats at 2:00 am at this place. So Tan Tan Wok in KAT seems to be a good logical choice to rehash some of those memories. I've always felt that the Vietnamese/Chinese served here leaned more towards chinese food styles with 80/20 lean. There are quite a few differences here as this was more of a sit down "family style" oriented place compared to the fast casual place of Tan Tan in Chinatown. Unfortunately, the flavors just doesn't quite add up to my liking. Their special fried rice while having good flavor, is missing the "wok hei" aspect of this. We also got their salt and pepper squid, which was my favorite of the night. It had a very crunchy outside, tender squid and adequate amounts of garlic, chili bits. We got their bo luc lac, which was all sorts of out of place. The beef was NOT tender which tends to lend itself as overcooked. Bánh bột chiên was pretty decent but nothing special about it here. Their flat noodle with beef is fine, but not as good as chinese versions where wok hei is king. While just OK, Tan Tan Wok does a C+ job at "Vietnamizing" some chinese staples. I'll eat it, but would rather go to an authentic place in chinatown that does it way better. C+: Good for a casual dinner, I'll give it that. Fast service! A+

Yelp
There are a ton of options from the menu The service was amazing. One of the best! Beef soup 10/10 Shrimp and pork dumplings 10/10 Shrimp flat noodles 7/10 We will definitely come back!

Yelp
Fantastic spot if you're into Asian comfort food. From the moment you step in, you feel welcomed by the cozy, laid-back atmosphere. The menu is packed with a variety of things any person is bound to want to sample a few. The crispy beef with tangerine was on point and the staff are really attentive. Whether you're eating after a spirit filled happy hour or trying Asian flavors for the first time, Tan Tan is definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
Tan Tan Wok is probably the best spot for family style Chinese/Vietnamese food in Katy Asia Town. The service is quick and the ambiance is casual. We ordered their spicy garlic chicken, eggplant w/ basil, stir fried beef flat rice noodles, house special rice cake, and white rice of course. Everything came out piping hot with that smoky wok flavor from how hot their burners get, some call it "breath of the dragon." Our favorites are definitely the house special rice cake and eggplant w/ basil though for sure, these are MUST order dishes. While Tan Tan Wok is the same owners as Tan Tan in Bellaire, something about this place just isn't as good as the original Tan Tan location. It definitely still itches the craving if you're wanting pretty high quality Chinese/Vietnamese food. But also just be aware that the prices here are slightly more than the Bellaire location as well. Luckily, the portions are big so come hungry and with a big group for sure. Enjoy!

Yelp
We do not recommend this place anymore as the ingredients have changed to low quality getting a bad taste and very perishable food. Last noodles with beef with put on the trash as very very bad taste of the noodles and veggies. The cost is high per plate, no good, no healthy to low the quality.

Yelp
Came here for a quick lunch and it did not disappoint! I shared a banh bot chien (house special rice cake) and the stir fried seafood with crispy noodle. Both dishes were a hit. The banh bot chiến included the perfect egg to rice cake ratio and the rice cakes were light and crisp with a bounce on the inside. I love the picked radish that is added to the fried egg mixture - adds a nice crunch and saltiness. This is served with a soy sauce vinaigrette on the side - I like to add some sriracha for a lil kick. The stir fried seafood with crispy noodle was perfectly seasoned and crisp. The thin egg noodles were fried to a light crisp and add the saucey stir fry on top to soften the noodles a bit and the perfect noodle texture is created!

Yelp
Found this on Yelp! While visiting family in Houston. It was very busy on a Saturday evening. Parking was challenging in this whole shopping strip but we lucked out and got one right up front. E eeything we ordered was great. This placed had the largest walnut honey shrimp I've ever seen. Very tasty. We then scheduled a weekend day dinner with friends, total of 14 people. They did a great job preparing our meal able to accommodate as we added 2 more than expected. We were having g such a great time visiting, I didn't take any pictures. Loved the service and food! You can see the last picture of what we pre-ordered. Fantastic place!

Yelp
Solid 4 stars all around. This place is very similar to the Tan Tan off Bellaire, maybe lacking in flavor by just 1% compared to the OG location. I ordered the following: - House Special Rice Cake (A1): spectacular as one would expect. It came out piping hot. - Bo Luc Lac (Diced Beef with Scallions): super tender but lacked a little salt. Would have been nice to have more than 1 lime to mix with the salt and pepper for the whole dish. - Tossed Fried Flat Noodle with Beef and Chinese Broccoli: make sure to ask for the "dry one"; otherwise you'll get the one lathered in sauce. This dish was awesome, and adding legit Sriracha elevates the flavor. Prices have definitely gone up so it's not a cheap Chinese/Vietnamese meal. It cost $50 before tax and tip for a meal for 2 (granted we had some leftovers). They were a bit stingy on the to-go containers too. Ambiance was nice; plenty of space. It would be nice if they had more than 1 toilet stall in the men's restroom for a restaurant this big. Service was OK. Nothing special. I got the sense they wanted us in and out quickly, but I feel like that's common these days. And sorry, no photos. I was super hungry and forgot to snap them for this review. The food also came out very quickly and all at once.

Yelp
Walking in the place looks big. The staff was very friendly but they didn't really check on us more than once. We started with the cheese dumplings which is just cream cheese with chives and maybe another ingredient BUT man oh man were they hot!! They came out fresh out of the fryer and they were delicious. Then the vegetable (soft) spring rolls came out. They were also really good and the sauce they were pair with was delicious. We had a minor hiccup in our order. Only 2 of our entres came out because our order was taken incorrectly. Once that was fixed and I got my Pho it was just as expected. Hot and yummy! It didn't last enough for me to capture a picture

Yelp
Please read the other reviews they not lying: Went here with a couple of friends from out of town and did not have a pleasant time. The customer service was absolutely horrible. When they were bringing food to the table, they were just dropping it anywhere. One of the waiters brought my food to the wrong table. When I told him it was mine he said let me go and confirm that after the table he left it at said it wasn't theirs. As if I was a liar. If I were to have asked for something, they would bring it to the table and leave it with somebody who didn't ask for it. We were there all of 20 minutes. The food was absolutely bland and not good at all. I took about two bites out of my food and so did my friends we all ordered different things and we did not like it. It was not palatable. And I can eat anything but I could not eat that. We let the one of the waiters know because there are multiple waiters coming to our table did not feel personal at all. We also let the manager know in the most respectful way possible (didn't want to be the stereotypical, angry, black person) and he said well what do you want me to do about it? I was shocked. He started whispering to my friend who was offering to pay for us and I said hey we all have money here too, and we're all customers as well. You can talk to us as well. None of us like our food my friend spoke up as well. He didn't like his food and neither did my other friend like their food and he was like well you still need to pay. I hate to be the person that pulls the race card, but it definitely felt like we were not wanted there. He was assuming that we didn't have money which he didn't even try to hide. We asked if we can order something else on the menu because this was not it and we asked for recommendations and he basically told us that all the food is used at the same base and it all taste the same and he made it very apparent of wanting to get us out and make us leave then to accommodate us and again nobody yelled. Nobody raise their voice. We're speaking in a very respectful manner and it just felt like we weren't wanted. The waiters were not helpful and we were the only Black people in there. It was a very hurtful feeling because I do like the area and I've just never experienced service like this in my life.

Yelp
Tried Tan Tan Wok as we were looking for Peking Duck. They did not disappoint! The restaurant is spacious with cute decor. Tables only, no booth seating. The food we tried was great & we will definitely be back. Here's my favorite dishes in order: Crispy Beef with Tangerine Peel Thai Sweet Chili Wings Peking Duck We wouldn't order the Stir Fried Beef with Crispy Noodle. Just a bland dish. The service was good, as they were attentive & dishes came out in a timely manner.

Yelp
Service was okay, seemed like they had enough servers but it was still chaotic, so maybe they need more. The rice cake omelette was good but I'd prefer thinner slices of rice cake so make it more crispy chew less mush. The kung pao chicken was good. The roti and curry was good flavor, crispy hot roti. The crispy beef and Chinese broccoli was awful. Meat tasted super old and eating rubber erasers. The menu is large so maybe other items are good. But I'd prefer to go elsewhere.

Yelp
I did not have a good experience eating here. I ordered food and got the wrong orders -two of them. Also, I asked for them to make the meat well done but she didn't speak English well so she ignored my request. Overpriced terrible service

Yelp
Looked up a new place to go and Tan Tan Wok didn't disappoint. The service was fast friendly and the food was delicious. We ordered egg rolls, spicy garlic chicken and beef chow fun. Every dish was so good. The ambiance was joyful and fun since there was a large birthday and everyone was having fun.

Angel G.

Yelp
A clean and traditional environment. Very fresh food and ingredients, we even saw a cart coming in with fresh vegetables. The soups tasted great, with low amount of fat and a light broth. The waiters were very kind and attentive, some speak English, Chinese, and even Spanish! They also have tasty special desserts. They are neither Chinese authentic nor Thai , they are a mix, so keep that in mind. Good water.

Yelp
1* for food with rubber band and -5* for manager attitude. Upon receiving our meal with a rubber band inside, the staff swiftly removed it, say sorry with no sence. then we asked to talked with manager, The manager's response was nonchalant, suggesting that mistake are commonplace and not a big deal. After a perfunctory apology, they curtly inquired, 'What do you want?' conveying an attitude of indifference, as if to say, 'If you're not satisfied, feel free to leave--I couldn't care less.' What kind of manager is that?". End of all they still charged for "Hollow stem garlic With Rubber band

Yelp
Popular place in Katy Asian Town that our family loves to come. Plan ahead to make sure you get your table. A Vietnamese fusion place, nice decoration! We love their Shrimp Flat Rice noodle with black bean sauce, Salt and Pepper Squid.

Maryrose S.

Yelp
My go to quick Chinese food. Always very good and a lot of selection. Fast and friendly service.
google avatar

Yelp
This is my "GO TO" spot for good Chinese food. This place is always clean and beautifully decorated with oriental decor. The waitress was very sweet and helped me with my selection based on my cravings. My kids love the House Special rice.

Cherone M.

Yelp
I went to this restaurant to celebrate my birthday and I must say the food was absolutely amazing. The portion size was beautiful. Customer service was excellent and if I want some authentic Chinese food or Vietnamese food this place has it all it's so convenient and the staff is very friendly and I will recommend this place
google avatar

Alex N.

Yelp
Great place to get Chinese food, they have a very large menu with different Vietnamese and Chinese foods. The decor is nice and they have good service. First stop was the ma po tofu, was very good as I enjoyed the spice, the sauce, the tofu. Next was the crispy flat noodles, which was the highlight of the meal, the noodles were crispy to perfection with the nice gravy sauce to go with it, but seafood was great, wish there was squid. Last was the sizzling beef with black pepper, which unfortunately was the worst beef and black pepper had, the beef was very chewy, poor quality, and cut meat, I cannot finish this entrée if I tried. Overall great place for Chinese food highly recommend their flat noodles and their tofu and perhaps seafood too, but not the beef.
google avatar

Amy A.

Yelp
Nothing to complain. Everything is food is very tasty service is awesome. After we went we went back 3 more times.

Haley D.

Yelp
Service is actually terrible. Not sure if it's because we were hispanic and they served everyone else before us or they just didn't wanna serve us.
google avatar

Michael P.

Yelp
Food was good! Just like other Tan Tan associated restaurants you can expect this to be on par and just as good. Service is the only item that dinged the review. Got good service but was lacking in a few needed items. Sit towards the back to not get the front door draft from the outside.

Nataly D.

Yelp
Love love the the food here amazing service as well . The slice beef and fried rice was amazing . The place is comfortable and relaxing .

Yelp
I came here for a birthday lunch, and their menu is enormous. I tried the eggplant with basil, house special rice cake, shrimp/pork wonton soup, sesame chicken, fried dumplings, and Singapore noodles. My favorite dishes were the rice cake and eggplant with basil. The rice cake is eggy and covered in scallions and fried onions with turnip. The eggplant was nice and firm and had a good basil flavor that was reminiscent of Thai dishes. The Singapore noodles were pretty tasty and had a slight kick to them. The wonton soup was decent but not the most flavorful broth. The sesame chicken was a tad dry, the fried dumplings were a little boring. Our server was very nice and did a great job giving direction on the menu. I'd come back, but it's not my first choice for Vietnamese or Chinese.
google avatar

Michelle V.

Yelp
Highly recommend for lunch and dinner if you're in the Asian Katy Area. I love the wide range of selection on their menu. Located in Hmart Center, spacious parking . Customer service is great! Fast and efficient!
google avatar

Yelp
If you're looking for the best Chinese food you've ever had. You've found it. They deserve a much higher rating! I hate that we almost didn't give it a chance. What we got: Spicy garlic chicken Curry tofu Curry & roti (MUST TRY) Vegetable spring rolls Don't get me wrong we LOVE Indian curry. But I think their customer base needs to understand the difference. Their curry is delicious but not all curry is the same! And thank goodness because wouldn't that be boring. We had to return for the second time in 1 week because it's just that good!

Hector M.

Yelp
We wandered around Katy Asia Town and decided on Tan Tan Wok because the menu was so extensive. We had the roti with curry, flat noodles with chicken and Chinese broccoli and crispy beef with tangerine peel. The food was great and the service was friendly. We will be back because there are so many other dishes we would like to try!

Yelp
The fried rice in this restaurant is overcooked!!! My experience at this restaurant during a big gathering of 13 people left much to be desired. Firstly, they insisted on splitting the checks the way they wanted, allowing only three checks per table. This caused some discomfort, as any issues with software or credit cards should be resolved by the management, not the customers. We ordered the Crispy noodles with veggies, which came with white rice. We decided to switch it for fried rice, which incurred an additional charge of $3. However, the fried rice that was served was overcooked and tasted like cheap rice with no flavor. While the food arrived on time, they completely forgot my niece's order. After waiting for 30 minutes, she decided to cancel the order since everyone else had already finished eating. To make matters worse, the owner tried to persuade her to order something else instead. The quality of the food in this restaurant needs improvement. The amount of business they receive does not justify the poor quality of both the food and the service.

Yelp
Lots and lots of Chinese/Viet food options! We tried the bot chien, mayo shrimp, and spring rolls and they were all delicious. It's rare to find a place with such a wide variety of good dishes. The workers were also very kind.

Yelp
Would not go back. I have been here once before about 2 years ago and I don't remember having an issue. This time we had roaches. Yesterday, 6/14/24 my family and I went. The food was ok. One person at our table had his food served after we had all eaten. The place was full but we arrived earlier and ordered all together. The staff was fine. The place looks nice. We had a lot of food left over. So we decided to get containers to go. The lady came with five containers. She gave me one and left with the others. My husband said there was a bug on the containers. The lady then came back with the containers and I could see a roach crawling on them. I showed her the roach and she ran off. I then looked at the container I had on the table and it had roach poop on it. I showed it to the staff and returned the container. I then didn't want to take anything home with me. Leaving ALOT of food. She came back with small containers and I didn't want them. We then spoke to the manager and he brought some more containers. The edge of one which had black spots on it and I didn't want. By this time I just didn't want any of the food. So the manager then came with a sealed bag of new containers to show me it's sealed and new. I again politely refused and thanked him. I was just grossed out and didn't want anything. No other compensation was offered.

Yelp
You can never go wrong with Tan Tan. It's always consistently delicious, no matter which location you go to. Yes it is the same as the one in Bellaire, and the ambiance makes it look like there's always a party lol. It is connected to the Jia Kitchen next door, and if you're looking for the basics (ex. General Tso Chicken, etc.) It's the same menu give or take a few items.
google avatar

Evelyn L.

Yelp
Surprisingly very good. I'm glad I gave this place a try. I ordered something basic so I can't say much about the menu but everything sounded really good. I ordered the brócoli chicken and gave what it needed to give. Also, the prices are really good. I would come back here and recommend this place to friends (:
google avatar

Karla H.

Yelp
Great ambience and Pho soup was amazing! It's a cute little restaurant with lots of staff so usually you'll get your food pretty fast. I recommend it! The peanut sauce could be a little better.
google avatar

Jason K.

Yelp
Same menu and quality as the Chinatown location! Close to Katy is a major plus for folks on this side of Houston! I definitely recommend this place and will be back more frequently soon!

Phong T.

Yelp
Think twice before you come to this place. Worst service ever and who would leave a F word to their customer and hang up.
google avatar

Yelp
Their food has lots of flavor. It's that Chinese Vietnamese style of cooking so we always enjoy it. We love their house special pancake. Tan tan was my go to place since I was in high school/ college. We will come back soon. Their service is alright. It's a typical Asian place where as always service is not the best but the ambiance is super cute.

Peter K.

Yelp
Ordered the beef and Chinese broccoli with flat rice noodle plate. It was good. I like the basics, nothing fancy... don't like it when places add extra like carrots or baby corn. My mom got the broken rice plate. The service was pretty good for how busy and packed it was...on a Saturday during lunch. It was full on both sides of the dining area and very loud. We luckily got the last table, and they still managed to bring out the food under 10 minutes.
google avatar

Jakki J.

Yelp
The crispiest shrimp ever! My husband and I tried this place for lunch and really liked it. We ordered the salt toasted shrimp which usually come shell on but the waitress offered that they will also do shell off. We opted for shell off. We also ordered the general tso's shrimp. The shrimp in both dishes was so crispy and delicious. I've never had shrimp crispy like this. I don't know how they do it but it was amazing. We will definitely be back next time. Hoping to try some of their soup or noodle dishes.

Their indoor decor is stunning. I love the straw hats on the walls and the lanterns hanging. They worked on a theme and it is flawlessly showing. Everything is on point. Service was great and quick. Did a foodie run today and so I only ordered two and left. Honey walnut shrimp: 10/10. Literal perfection. Crunch is there, taste and presentation Salt and pepper squid: 9/10. Ooooh this one is also soooooo good. Flavor is good. Plating was perfect. Came with the lemon pepper dip, yessss. I definitely need to come back here and have a full course meal and not just two entrees and rate it again. I love Chinese/Vietnamese comfort food and this, THIS IS IT.

Yelp
I loved the Bellaire location, but I love the Katy Asia Town location even MORE. Plenty of parking and the food is great. They have a different chef here that has a "lighter hand" on the sauces and the food is really fresh, and comes out fast. I really enjoyed the Salt Toasted Beef Ribs. I didn't quite know what to expect, but it was kind of like a chicken wing meets short rib. It was a short rib, battered and crunchy, and delicious. That's all I can say. It comes with slawed veggies and it was really refreshing. The service is really friendly and they cleared our dishes, refilled our drinks, and checked on us regularly. If you need a quick lunch in Katy Asia Town, this is your spot.

Yelp
I would definitely have to say that if you are around the Katy Asia Town area looking for a great place to eat, Tan Tan Wok is one of the better restaurants here! The restaurant itself is pretty clean, roomy (as they share their space with Jia Kitchen next door), and decorative/colorful. Tan Tan Wok is a nice go-to place for gathering for lunch or dinner with family or friends, especially since their menu is served family style. The food here is all so delicious, and they have a wide variety on their menu to choose from. My favorite dishes at Tan Tan Wok are the Creamy Walnut Shrimp, Salt Toasted Squid, House Special Rice Cake, Won Ton Soup (best Wonton soup tried), and Eggplant w/Basil. Main entrees also come unlimited rice for the table as well. The service is also quick and efficient. We love that we have one of the best from Houston's Chinatown, right here in the suburbs.

Yelp
Food: Ordered orange chicken (came with steamed rice) my husband said it was decent but didn't taste like orange chicken we've had at other restaurants... also ordered chargrilled pork & egg rolls with vermicelli. This dish was excellent, 5/5 Service: 4/5 Would recommend and will return to try other things from the menu

Yelp
We love Tan Tan and have been here several times for dinner. The star of the show is always the house special rice cake. I'd come back again and again just for this dish. The service has always been friendly. This restaurant has a more casual feel, but would still be a nice date night spot. I would also feel comfortable taking a large group here. I would also feel confident ordering almost everything on the menu - I've never ordered a dish I didn't like. Salt toasted squid is another standout on the menu. For veggies, I'd recommend the stir fried snow pea shoots.
