Tancho Sushi - Review - Rosedale - Austin - The Infatuation

"In a world of high-endomakases, Tancho offers something a little more affordable. It’s less of an “omakase” and more of a prix-fixe situation, but for about $30-60 (the price varies depending on which one you choose), you’ll leave full of pretty good sushi in a nice space. This second location is at The Grove in Rosedale." - Nicolai McCrary

Loved everything about my experience here. Affordable yet delicious omakase. The fish was all super tender and fresh, and the entire staff was attentive and friendly.

Amazing and affordable omakase and individual sushi rolls. You can order nigiri or rolls a la carte without the omakase as well. Beautiful location and interior and great staff! Highly recommend.

Lunch omakase was super simple but very tasty and light in a way that felt so satisfying. Beautiful interior, restaurant is still getting started at this location but will definitely be back

I’m not sure why this place is not packed but it’s a gem. Super fresh fish. I’m just back from Tokyo and this place transports me back. Prices are reasonable. We had the light Omakase and some sides. Delicious. 😋 .

Hands down one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I’m 38 and I’ve eaten a lot of great sushi, but this reset the bar completely. Honestly not sure I’ll be able to eat sushi the same way again and be content.

New Tancho location at The Grove is a Hit! Made a reservation here last week with my girlfriend, and we had an amazing time. The service was top-notch and everyone was friendly and super attentive. Great ambiance, and it was cool to see how popular and busy the place already is. Management was on top of it, making the whole experience was really fantastic. Highly recommend!

The fish melts in your mouth! The omakase was excellent. The sake selection is also a great addition. Be sure to get your parking validated before you head out (assuming that you parked in a garage).

The difference between regular "American-style" sushi and good quality omakase is apparent here. Buttery fish prepared simply with an overall savory flavor profile. Service was great, there is a 17% service charge included and no tip expected on top of that. Also, it's not off-putting but it lightly smells like fish inside the place?

Yelp
My experience at Tancho- Grove was great! It's a dimly lit spot that seems excellent for a date night. The food came out quickly and each item was explained to us. This is an omakase restaurant with a few a la carte options. They're very reasonably priced for it being omakase- the standard menu is about $41 and the lighter menu is $31. Drinks were reasonably priced as well. Drink options are limited to beer, wine and sake. I opted for the standard menu and enjoyed each option that was brought out. I wish I had been hungrier so that I may have tried more options. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
New omakase concept, just opened in the Grove development. We arrived on the 3rd day of operation. Ambience is quiet and approachable. Staff were very friendly, professional, and enthusiastic. We ordered the signature omakase. Great value for the price. Every bite was delicious. We particularly enjoyed the nigiri. Decent sake and beer selection. Wine selection should be expanded to include a few more white wine or sparkling wine options. Overall, Tancho has a lot of promise. We will be back.

Yelp
Quality sushi omakase at a great price. You can also add on A la carte if you are still hungry. Ambiance is also really nice. Only downside is they don't have some of the more specialty pieces like uni or ankimo but pretty solid otherwise
