Recently came across this budget-friendly meal deal—only $11.99 all day for one dish plus a bowl of rice, with 25 dishes to choose from! Do the math, and $100 gets you 8 dishes—basically 8 full rice bowl meals! Honestly, I haven’t had this kind of “eat a lot and eat well” happiness at a restaurant in a long time! [Stir-fried Beef with Chili] This one’s the ultimate rice killer! Tender beef slices with a hint of spice, full of wok hei. I could easily eat another bowl of rice with this. [Homestyle Tofu] Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside—stir-fried with wood ear mushrooms and green peppers. It soaks up the sauce beautifully. [Garlic A-Choy] The light and refreshing option! A perfect balance to all the hearty dishes. Strong garlic aroma but doesn’t overpower. [Pickled Radish & Chicken Gizzards] Super crunchy and full of texture! The sour radish is so appetizing—another perfect combo with rice. [Shrimp with Soft Scrambled Egg] Ordered this one for the kid! Delicately cooked, eggs are super soft and creamy, shrimp is bouncy and fresh—plate was polished clean! [Spicy Stir-fried Clams] Clams are big and meaty, cooked in a savory-sweet sauce with chili peppers. Pretty solid! [Stir-fried Bullfrog] Okay, I cheated and got a non-discounted dish… but I had to. I love bullfrog, and this one tasted super fresh—definitely freshly butchered. Spicy, flavorful, and surprisingly affordable compared to other places. They also do skewers and drinks at night—totally vibey for a night out. I have to come back for dinner next time!

This restaurant is located on the 3rd floor. We came here for the skewers. We were surprised by the dumplings and the scallops were quite good as well. The price was very affordable, the mini skewers were perfect for bite size. I like the Secret Beef and the Secret Lamb were better seasoned than the mini skewers. The Yellow Croaker fishes were tender and flavorful. Good place to hangout with friends and families.

Came back for the stinky tofu, left feeling disappointed. I used to really enjoy Tang Dynasty, especially for their Changsha-style stinky tofu. Unfortunately, this visit didn’t live up to my expectations. While the service and atmosphere were still decent, the food—especially the tofu—was a letdown, which is why I’m giving this place 3 out of 5 stars. Ambiance: 3.5/5 The space is clean with decent lighting and seating. However, I think the vibe could be improved with better music—90s-era Chinese pop was playing the whole time, and it didn’t really match the energy of the restaurant. Some updated or lo-fi instrumental would’ve helped set a better mood. Authenticity: 3/5 I came back specifically for the Changsha Stinky Tofu, hoping for the crispy, bold flavor I remembered. Sadly, the tofu this time was soggy with no crisp exterior, which took away from the authentic experience. The other kebabs were okay, but lacked the flavor punch I expected from a BBQ spot known for bold Chinese street food. Flavor: 3/5 Besides the disappointing tofu, the skewers were just average. Some came out lukewarm and felt like they had been sitting out for a bit. Nothing in the meal really stood out this time, which was a letdown considering the reputation and past experience. Cost: 3.5/5 Prices are reasonable for a Chinese BBQ place in the area. You won’t break the bank, but the value doesn’t quite match what you’re getting, especially when the food isn’t consistently fresh or flavorful. Service: 5/5 The one bright spot of this visit was our server—super friendly, attentive, and welcoming. No complaints here. The staff made a real effort to make us feel comfortable. Final Verdict: 3/5 Tang Dynasty still has potential, especially with such kind staff and a cozy environment. But for a place that once stood out for its stinky tofu, the decline in food quality really hurt the experience. Hoping they bring back the crisp and flavorful Changsha stink tofu that made this place a personal favorite in the first place.

This small bar restaurant offers an incredibly cozy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed evening with friends. The attention to detail in the décor reflects a deep appreciation for traditional flavors while adding a modern twist. The food is simply delightful, showcasing authentic Chinese dishes, and the staff is warm and attentive, making every visit a memorable experience. It's a hidden gem that brings a perfect blend of comfort, style, and exceptional cuisine.

特价菜超值!this place serve $11.99 specials all day! All the food tastes delicious and looks just like homemade, highly recommend it to anyone who wants to try traditional Chinese food

This is honestly one of my favorite places to eat in all of LA. The food is incredible, the vibe is perfect, and the service is excellent. I loved the secret beef and secret lamb skewers and potato dry pot! I also had the Hunan stir-fried beef, which is super good and spiced perfectl, and the changsha stinky tofu which I would recommend to anyone! The secret grilled oysters were huge and tasted amazing! I will definitely be back soon!

Visiting this place was an unexpected treat for us. We were in the area, most of the restaurants were closed around 8.30 pm on a Saturday. This is one of the very few restaurants in the area open past midnight. We really loved the vibe and live music . Perfect place for a weekend party. The food was served very quickly after placing the order and they were fresh and yummy. My only concern was communicating in English, not many knew and it was a bit challenging to convey, yet they did a fantastic job in serving the food according to our needs.

I hadn't been here since it was Chang'an and I really enjoyed it. The vibe and venue was really fun. There's free karaoke, but I was more impressed by the happy hour specials that they were running. Apparently Monday through Friday, 5 to 8 PM, they have 50% off a number of the dishes. So they serve Hunan cuisine here and this is more of a gastropub. So there's some traditional Hunan dishes on the menu, as well as some that are inspired by local Californian seasonal produce, and other Chinese cuisines. One dish I had never seen before. Was this preserved century egg, eggplant dish that came in a mortar and pestle. It was a really cute presentation and you're supposed to smash it up yourself, which ends up giving the dish really creamy taste to it. It ended up being a favorite of the table. Barbecue skewers always hit the spot. And then we got some drinks as well, but I would definitely come back just during happy hour on a weekday for a quiet meal because I did really enjoyed the food. The karaoke was enjoyable. People took turns, and they were quite good. I wish I was able try more dishes because they were multiple desserts that looked really appetizing. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience and would definitely go back. The neon signs are also gorgeous backgrounds, so definitely come here and get some pictures.

Yelp
Nice service and food! Also they are pet-friendly and offer free WiFi. Can't ask for more

Yelp
3.5/5 Located on the third floor of the Hilton Hotel Plaza in San Gabriel, Tang Dynasty used to be Chang An (and some of their signs are still up) and is essentially serving similar food. They offer Chinese/hunan dishes, appetizers, and fun cocktail drinks. The dining area is large, and they have a karaoke stage with a live singer on certain days. But contrary to the bright neon lights, the music was pretty mellow, which made it easier to talk to one another. I came here with a party of 12 for dinner and we were seated right away. They have an extensive menu, including a special lunch and dinner menu with dishes for $11.99 each. Our group got the party menu for 8-10 people for $328, which included 10 of their dishes. I enjoyed the variety and the display, but it may not be worth it if you don't enjoy all dishes. Some dishes include chicken gristle, steamed tilapia, hunan chili pork, frog meat. If these aren't your jam, it's probably better to select the dishes individually, especially if you can't handle spicy! Hunan dishes contain lots of chili and is often pretty oily. Overall, I would return and select just the dishes I enjoy, and perhaps try their alcoholic drinks to pair with the spicy dishes!

Yelp
Ambiance: Roomy comfortable. It's good for banquet party. Service: the waiter claiming he's here ONLY to help out temporarily, as he can hardly answer my questions about the food menu, but he's saying this is his favorite restaurant.. Food: lunch special is a very good deal for $11.99, even though the portion is small. Steam rice is served w/each food items, it's really fresh and tasty! My orders: 1) Hunan style stir fried pork: 3-star Few pork slices pan fried w/sliced chili pepper. Not spicy at all...pork quality is poor, and I can hardly bite on it, it's chewy. 2) Home style Tofu: 3-star Tofu cubes is rather tiny but flavorful. It's fried w/black fungus. Fungus quality is low, so it's tough to eat w/ tofu. 3) Dry Pot Cauliflowers: 2-star There's no dry pot served w/this dish. Cauliflower is skinny w/minimum flavor. I'm willing to come back to give another shot w/other food items if it'll be better...

Yelp
It is really a restaurant with a very high cost performance We ordered nine dishes and only spent one hundred, which is really economical in the United States! The important thing is that the dishes taste good, and the spicy and non-spicy dishes are all fried very delicious. It is a restaurant suitable for all ages. Their special dishes are now available all day, with a total of 25 dishes, all for $11.9, and rice is also providedIt can be used as a canteen for workers! ! This place is also suitable for gatherings with family and friends. There will be performances in the evening. If the weather is good, you can sit on the outdoor terrace to dine, which is very atmospheric!

Yelp
I was looking for a skewer place and found Tang Dynasty on Yelp. I went to the website and made a reservation for a Saturday night dinner for two. The reservation was approved within minutes. When we walked in, the place was actually a bit empty with many open tables. The menu mentioned live music on the weekends, but when we arrived around 9 PM, there wasn't any live music. We tried a couple of items; the best was the stir-fried string beans, followed by the secret pork, which is essentially pork belly. Mini Lamb (4/5): This was much better than the beef because it was fatty. Mini Beef (3/5): The meat was too lean, making it very chewy and tough. Secret Pork (aka Pork Belly) (5/5): This was the first skewer dish served, and it set the bar high. There was enough fat on the pork to make it juicy, and the seasoning was on point. Garlic Vermicelli Scallops (4/5): The amount of garlic really saved the dish; however, the scallops were very small, so it was not as satisfying. Grilled Mantou Slices (3.5/5): This was what we expected, but not the best mantou I've had. It passed the bar but didn't exceed expectations. Grilled Toast (3.5/5): This is more of a dessert--grilled toast with condensed milk. It's good as it is, but not what we were expecting. We were hoping it would be more savory rather than sweet. Maybe this is a personal preference thing. Stir-Fried String Beans (10/5): We wanted some veggies, and they ran out of snow peas, so this was our backup. However, this was soooooo good. I highly recommend this if you want to add some veggies to your meal. The skewers were small, but the string beans were sizable. The two girls were able to clean the table, finishing every dish.

Yelp
4 for the service and the food. Decent food and spacious place with no wait time at a Friday night. Deduct 1 star cause the owner was kinda unbelievable. She was playing mahjong with her friends near the entrance and the all the tables are inside. It was kinda hot inside due to the structure of the place even tho it was cold outside and near the entrance . We asked the server ( she was sweating too ) to adjust the AC but the owner told the server not to, cause the owner said she didn't feel hot at all. We had to go directly to her and ask her to turn on the AC for us. Well..... Eggplant with preserve eggs 5/5. Super delicious. Creamy and flavorful. with rice. Grilled oyster 3.5/5 : fresh, sweet but pretty small. 1 for $4 is Kinda pricy. The rest of it : 3.5 to 4 in general. We actually order a bunch but I didn't take pics of all of it.

Yelp
Honestly, I don't understand the hate for this restaurant. There aren't many places open late these days, especially post-COVID, and they've got huge TVs for watching whatever game is on. They also post a lot of happy hour deals on their Instagram, making it a great spot to hang out with friends. I really like their skewer selection, especially since they use a charcoal grill. The garlic eggplant and corn skewers are my favorites, and I love getting a bunch of snacks to enjoy while watching a game or listening to old-school music I haven't heard in years. It's a fun place that deserves more attention. Sure, not every dish is for everyone, but it's a gastropub--grab a drink and relax.

Yelp
I don't normally come up to SGV to kick it and drink, but we recently came across this Chinese pub and it was pretty lit like as if project-x was happening again. When we were there, this big group approached us and gave us free multiple shots and wanted to vibe. Of course we joined in the fun. I tell you this though, it wasn't no hazy night. Responsibilities. For the food, we ordered the grilled garlic oysters, beef skewers, stir fried tomato and eggs, and sautéed tofu. The food was decent and pairs well with alcohol. What's cool about this place is that there's a karaoke area where you can sing to your hearts, a couple card games, and it's spacious. It's a fun spot for a friend's gathering.

Yelp
Tang Dynasty is in a small shopping center adjacent to the San Gabriel Hilton. Tucked away in the corner, with a very cute outdoor patio, this is a modern Chinese restaurant with food based from the chefs hometown. I attended an event here and had ten wonderful dishes. Staff were quick and attentive to accommodate our party. The eggplant with preserved egg was an interesting dish that I've not had combined together as I usually have black bean sauce eggplant or the preserved egg with pork congee. The salt and pepper chicken wings were perfectly crispy and had a nice kick. The beef with cilantro was the spiciest of the bunch. The steamed tilapia was my favorite dish. It reminded me of home because my dad would make it all the time.

Yelp
This is my new favorite spot for Chinese skewers! We went on a Friday night and there was plenty of parking and no wait. The service is great, server is super attentive and food came out fast. For skewers, we got the secret beef, secret lamb and corn skewers. We also tried other dishes like potato dry pot, stinky tofu, grilled oysters and scallops. My favorites were the stinky tofu, we ended up ordering 2nd one because of how goood it is. The interior of the restaurant is also super cute with a lot of traditional Chinese decorations. Honestly, I'd come here and be able to eat right away than waiting for over an hour at little skewers or other popular skewers place any day.

Yelp
I love skewers and my go to has been Xinjiang BBQ or Little Skewer. Decided to check this place out for a change. Its more low key than Xinjiang BBQ or Little Skewer. Xinjiang gets crowded and waits could exceed an hour while Little Skewer has a wait and its super loud. This place was more quiet, mellow and no wait at all. Food was good. Drinks were okay. Service was lacking though as the waitress kept messing up what we ordered.

Yelp
Located on the 3rd floor of the Hilton plaza, we stumbled onto a quiet and empty restaurant at 5:30 pm on a Friday. There was top 100 pop music playing loudly over the speakers and in the corner of the restaurant is a mini stage with some big screens, microphones, and speakers. Something tells me this place can get wild in the evenings but I wasn't there to witness it for myself. I wasn't there for entertainment. I was strictly there for soju and something to munch on in between shots. Luckily, Hunan cuisine pairs extremely well with Korean spirits. Who knew? I ordered the lamb skewers, stir fried beef, and fried quail. Lamb skewers: I was shocked at how little meat there was per skewer but given the price point (under $10), it wasn't too bad. Flavorful but again, wish there was more to nibble on per stick. Stir fried beef: Though well seasoned, this was soooo salty! We ordered a side of rice because there was no way we can get through the dish without it. I liked the balance of cilantro with the beef. Fried quail: takes a bit for this to arrive. A bit dry because it was overcooked but it was still tasty. I liked how they provided seasoning for you to sprinkle on the meat. Overall, the food paired perfectly with the soju and the service was pleasant and quick.

Yelp
Came here on a weekday for dinner with some friends and it was completely empty. It remained empty throughout our entire meal too. We got the whole place to ourselves. All the staff was just sitting around so we got pretty good service and food came pretty fast. The food was alright, but not so good that it was memorable. The menu had a good range of Chinese food, from savory seafood dishes to spicy choices. Good for family and large gatherings. Parking was easy. The Plaza has its own parking structure underground. Has a lot of desserts and Boba drinks places in the same Plaza too.

Yelp
This is a fun sit down Chinese food restaurant on Valley Blvd proper. Great food, good cocktails (if you're into that)... and even fun karaoke nights (the booze probably helps this along for some folks. Service is always good, but slightly on the curt side. Efficient is a good word for it, without overly pretentious emotional investment :) Pricier than a trip to the Panda Express counter at your local grocery store or mall food court-- maybe $50/person? Worth it.

Yelp
The food: Egg, eggplant and pepper, Mini lamb, Mini beef, Stinky tofu Located in a plaza with plenty of parking.
google avatar

Yelp
Their stinky tofu is on the stinkier side and delicious with chili oil and cilantro. The potato dry pot is flavorful and perfect with a bowl of rice. The crawfish was the only one I would pass on- the sauce was good but it didn't really simmer into the crawfish unless you dip it after you peel it. Overall, pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem! P.S. the store is located on the third floor of the plaza. There are plenty of underground parking available.

Yelp
The preserved egg, eggplant and pepper served in a mortar with attached pestle was my favorite dish here. I've never seen preserved egg mixed with eggplant but realistically, the preserved egg didn't add too much to the dish. There was a heavy taste of garlic that matched well with the dish. The other dish that everyone liked was the stir fried cabbage. While it is swimming in oil, the flavor was extraordinary. I've never had cabbage that packed that much flavor. The Hunan stir fried beef was also full of flavor, filled with chili and cilantro flavors. The salt and pepper chicken wings were also great. The stinky tofu and intestines pot was also good, reminding my wife of 五更腸旺, something that she misses. The Changsha stinky tofu was deep fried and actually quite bland for stinky tofu. It is definitely less fermented than its Taiwanese analog. One of the party members tried it and didn't realize it was stinky tofu. So if you're scared about stinky tofu but am curious, then this would be a good initial foray into the land of stink. We tried several skewers. They were fine but a little underwhelming. The fried rice is fine but could have used more salt. Things that we might consider in the future would be the sweet and sour ribs and the pork ribs. All in all, almost everything here was spectacular. Yes, things are a bit oily, but the flavors are worth it.

Yelp
Awesome skewer place! Great for groups and no long wait like other places. Food was great and came out quick. We really liked the stinky tofu, mantou buns, and eggplant! Definitely recommend and would come back.

Yelp
Me and my wife from Vegas , We try the soup and Skewers, the taste is amazing, good service, Ambiance little loud but still acceptable, will try again.

Yelp
Great service, great atmosphere for groups, late night snacks, dinner, drinks, and skewers! I absolutely loved the fish w/pepper and perilla. It's a sour miso slightly spicy soup. It's comforting and tasty. If you like sour soups, this is one you should definitely try. Careful that there are whole pieces of fish including the bones. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of the abalone but it was so tasty. Perfectly charred and seasoned. The stinky tofu was different. It's charred, crispy, and spicy. It's garnished with hot sauce, pickled string beans, cilantro and parsley. It's tasty, but I miss the pou tsai (pickled cabbage). This spot is located on the 3rd floor with all the string lights. Parking can be difficult so subterranean parking below is your best bet. Bon appetit yelpers!

Yelp
Tang Dynasty takes over the space vacated by Chang An in the San Gabriel Hilton shopping plaza. They kept the interior decor the same and added a karaoke stage. The food has become a bar menu and is Hunan pub cuisine. Lots of drink specials and shots. After a long drive from NorCal we met my Daughter C and some friends there to give them a try. We started with a try of shots and beers. I didn't know what they were but they were all sugary fruity. We ordered a bunch of items: Seafood platter : shrimp, crawfish, abalone, crab, sea cucumber, and scallops. All items were good but not worth the price. Stinky tofu Sautéed potato strings Smashed garlic eggplant Sautéed A Choi Hunan spicy fish was very good. The service was spotty with the Karaoke host helping out the servers. Plenty of parking in the Hilton plaza. Tang Dynasty is more like a Karaoke bar then a Hunan restaurant and the clientele reflects that.

Yelp
The new owner took over this restaurant after the pandemic winding down one year ago. It is at the third floor at the plaza of the Hilton Los Angeles San Gabriel, a modern Hunan restaurant with a nice ambience. The stir-fried bean sprouts (清炒豆苗) is the best in Los Angeles. It is a good venue for a party, especially a nice patio for a private party. Every Friday and Saturday night, a live performer sings songs, etc.

Yelp
TERRIBLE service. We had a 530 reservation for a large birthday party - when we arrived they took 30 minutes to seat us, and another 45+ minutes to even start bringing out drinks and small bites. We had 20 people standing around for an HOUR with nothing but ice water. The waiters were quite nice - they just seemed out of their depth and inexperienced. A birthday surprise we had arranged (dessert w/ candles, note, balloons) never showed up. Then at the end of the night they sprang a surprise on us - said they aren't taking credit cards - asked us to pay via Zelle or Venmo. Felt extremely unprofessional and a little scammy... Food was reasonably good, but overall would NOT recommend.

Yelp
Located on the third floor of the Hilton Plaza, Tang Dynasty is a fun place to hang out at night. They have a huge menu of Hunan food and drinks (both alcoholic and nonalcoholic) and I'm told they have karaoke as well. Food wise, everything tasted great! The scallop vermicelli came topped with a super garlicky mixture and was the perfect bite sized snack. However, the star of the show was the griddled hand ripped cabbage which was nice and crisp, a lil' buttery, and came with plenty of sauce for your rice. Just a heads up - they mean it when they say something is spicy. I can handle a pretty decent level of spice but the cumin lamb had me blowing my nose. Tasted really good but it did burn more than I expected. What makes this spot more of a nighttime hangout spot are their fun cocktails and alcoholic beverages! My friends and I shared the kaleidoscope - a selection of yuzu, lemon, strawberry, and peach shots - which looks great for photos. The yuzu and lemon were refreshing and tasted just like the real fruits, but the strawberry and peach did taste a bit artificial. The only downside of this spot is that the service is hands off. You order through your phone, they bring you your food, and they don't really check in. They come by if you make eye contact but given that this spot is kinda pricey, I would've liked a more hands on approach to help explain the menu and what they specialize in.

Yelp
I arrived with 3 others on a Saturday night at 7:45pm and we were seated at a booth right away. Right off the bat you can tell this place has a fun bar vibe given all the neon signage and not to mention they have the character for "drunk" in their (Chinese) name. FREEBIE - you get a free brown sugar ice jelly if you check in, I forgot to use mine lol I love how you can ORDER from your phone using the QR code and everyone at the table can add their own items and see what everyone else ordered, 10/10 for convenience I was surprised the CRAB was the first item that came out before the skewers or grilled scallops which in my mind are more like appetizers? Got the salted duck egg crab and it was okay, maybe the scallion ginger one would have been more flavorful? The SCALLOPS did come shortly after and they were delicious, I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND! LAMB SKEWERS came next, the portion is on the small side and they were a bit cold, but authentic, since they have a small piece of fat in between each bite of meat. Next came the CLAMS which were good, a lot of them fell out of their shell which is understandable given the cooking process, and one of them that I ate had a bit of sand. I personally liked the Lotus Root and DHORT RIB SOUP though the lotus was cut like a daikon versus in nice slices to show off their organic form, but flavor wise it was nice and white peppery, which is how I like my soup and the meat was fall off the bone... yum! The Changsha STINKY TOFU is worth trying since it's unique in color, but I prefer mine stinkier, crispier, and more flavorful overall. My favorite dish of the night was the FISH HEAD with Single Pepper. So much collagen in this dish. It's not too spicy as well so don't be afraid to try it out! I would give this place a 3.5/5 stars, but the service makes up the extra .5. The servers came around multiple times to refill waters, provide more napkins, and when we were done with our meal, the owner came and gifted us some home made sardines! It really reminded me of the homemade sardines my grandma used to make at home. There was no karaoke that night because one of the tables didn't want it, so I didn't get to see it in action, if you do, let me know how it is! Must be very different with live music.

Yelp
First time here for a birthday and the vibe was great, food was tasty, and staff were friendly and helpful. The area was spacious on the 3rd floor of beautiful San Gabriel valley. Have to come here to try at least once.

Yelp
Good place for large groups. Come here for the skewers. I recommend the secret lamb skewers. Shots were on the sweet side for me but the soju and beer are definitely decent price. I was surprised the Kung Pao Shrimp was very tender and the sauce was amazing. Salt and pepper shrimp was tasty. The wait staff are also very friendly.

Yelp
This place is located upstairs, and look for the neon signs. None of the signs said Tang Dynasty though. You order on the ipad, including asking them for water. They're pretty quick with the water when you ask. We ended up getting this big seafood platter, that had scallops, shrimp, crab and a lot of crawfish. The crawfish was a bit dry, but whatever the scallop noodle thing that was on the platter was yummy. If you check in, you get this agar jelly dessert/drink thing which I thought was excellent and it was my favorite thing I ate. I wish I was able to order something else, but we were celebrating and got the seafood platter since the person who we were celebrating liked seafood, and that seafood platter was HUGE. It can probably feed 5-6 people, but we had 4. I wish they gave us plates to throw the shells/etc so when i called the button to ask, he said to just put it on the table, which is kinda gross, but I was like.. okay if you wish. take makes it harder on them lol we also asked when they had live music, but i think there was a language barrier but he kind of said we could go up? LOL we should have, since we had 2 singers who literally sing publicly for weddings and events and a professional drummer in our group haha

Yelp
Recently discovered this late-night spot in the 626! They serve a variety of housemade Chinese fruity cocktails, skewers, stir-fried, and seafood platters. No worries if you can't finish a whole platter because you can order these dishes individually as well! They have public karaoke and live music in the restaurant. If you're lucky, they might even give you a free beer if you sing! If you know me then you know how much I love skewers! This spot is definitely one of my favorite places to get skewers now. What's even better is their Asian-inspired cocktails. They taste delicious and I can't wait to try the other flavors. This spot is the perfect late-night hangout spot my friends and I were looking for and we can't wait to come back!

Yelp

Yelp
My item names will do them no justice, but that's all I got. Apologies ahead of time. First off, the food there was good, a very astute taster can actually taste the short period of time various items were in the freezer for (it imparts this unmistakable alkaline freezer taste), but if you were less astute, you wouldn't really notice it. I mainly tasted it on the sea cucumber, and possibly the scallop, I forgot which. First off, the service here? Horrible. Did the waitress wait on you? No, she was more of a "wait, res-ting". Walked the 50 meters that was the length of the bar table between my table, and where she rested at least like 7 times. I had to go there for water, I had to go there for forks, I had to go there for napkins. In fact, I asked for forks in 3 different languages and 5 if you count sign and body language, she didn't get it until the 10th time. Each time, I grew more and more exasperated, like.. why is "fork" such an alien concept to you, restaurant staff? Then she hands me a plastic one. The plastic one was dropped to the floor, so... I had to go back for a metal one. Then, I discovered one of the bowls we were handed, had someone else's left over food in it, so... I brought it back to the waitress, and handed her the dirty bowl, let her know about it, and asked for a new one. She gladly accepted it, and then, looked and waited. We were staring at each other for about a minute, before I broke the silence with, "Um... the bowl?" at which point, she went to get me a new one. Like... The HELL? I think I probably went back there again for a to-go box, and maybe back there again for the bill. I've never met restaurant staff that cared less about service. I have however met the owner of Qin West, and yes... she has cared even less, but to her credit, she's a single person running both the counter, and the entire kitchen at the time, she was all frowns prior, then she expanded to three restaurants, and I saw her smile for the first time ever at her third one. In sum, would I come back? Possibly, but... Definitely going to tailor my expectations accordingly. 6 Item Platter (4/5) Crawfish - I frankly prefer this crawfish over Boiling Crab, Kicking Crab, buffets. It has a szechuan twist to it, giving it a pepper based aroma, and a bit of a kick to the sauce. Crabs - It largely tastes like your typical Chinese restaurant crab of little meat. Shrimp - Fried skin shrimp. I think I eat this in a very slow, but tasty way. I first eat all the shell, legs, and tail parts, and then, I eat the meat. This way, in one way, I have pure shell umami, and in another way, I have the sauced up shrimp meat. Reminds me of the times where sushi chefs would fry the heads of a giant prawn and serve it in a soup, whereas the body would be part of a sweet shrimp nigiri piece. Scallop - Scallops don't leave impressions on me, so I can't say anything about this one, my guess is, it tastes like your average scallop, nothing to cry home about. Abalone - Same with the abalone, it tastes like typical Chinese oyster sauce abalone. Sea Cucumber - Slimy, a hint of alkaline from possibly being frozen, followed by more slimy-ness. Maybe some oyster sauce. To be honest, I recalled people telling me how expensive these things are, and what delicacy it is, and that's really the driving force behind me eating these things. Like it has the texture jello and mushrooms blended together, and kind of tastes like diluted a dilute jellyfish platter. I'd crave bacon maybe a hundred or a thousand times before I'd crave this once. Oyster Omelete (4/5) The oysters tasted fresh, and the omelete was moist enough where the two ingredients worked well together. I wouldn't think to put these two togethers, but, the taste wasn't as objectionable as I first imagined. Frankly, it tastes like chinese oyster, and eggs. To be more specific, oysters that used pepper, green onions, and soy sauce as flavoring, and then, eggs. Pork with Peppers (4/5) Personally, I like the one from Spicy City better, but, while my mouth says yes, my stomach and everything else is like... "No!" You can't really go wrong with cured pork and peppers. If you've walked passed a Los Angeles Dirty Dog, you know what I'm talking about. Fish soup (4/5) The soup was tangy and a bit sour, it also seems to have spiced with what appears to be serrano peppers, but it wasn't spicy (at least not to me), the broth did an excellent job taking away the fishy stench, leaving it's sweetness intact. The broth also served to keep the fish very oily and moist. This was actually a very enjoyable dish. All in all, I recommend this place, kind of. The food is good. The service? Trash. Like maybe take out? I don't know. I do imagine that if you sat directly in front where the waitress rests, you might get decent service, but man, even for asian places the service was BAD, I don't think you guys understand just how bad that is, it's almost like they're trolling you to find your limits.

Yelp
The food was amazing. Reminded me of eating street food in China. We were craving some authentic Chinese food and found this place. We ordered the crawfish which was so delicious and a few skewers. The service was great and it is a fun place to go drinking with friends. I can't wait to come back again!

Yelp
Tang Dynasty are open from 5PM - 1AM everyday. They have delicious Hunanese food, a wide selection of alcoholic drinks and open karaoke for my musically talented brothers and sisters. There is so many memorable food worth trying here. First off, you have to start with the lamb stew w/ vermicelli to warm up your body. It's nourishing, flavorful and light to drink while you wait for all your food to come out of the kitchen. The Changsha Stinky Tofu and Garlic Vermicelli Scallops were my absolute favorites and ones I highly recommend ordering. They have a nice explosion of spicy and salty flavors that compliments our bowl of rice. The Preserved egg and eggplant dish caught me by surprise; I did not realize it would be served to me in a stone mortar and pestle. It was an interesting choice of presentation but nonetheless it was delicious as expected. It has that nice mushy texture and seasoning was on point. And last but not least, the spicy Stir-Fried Frog Leg. This dish has a perfect mixture of peppers and meat, but I caution that they minced the frog leg a bit too much. There were lots fragments which makes eating this dish a little bit more tedious. To sum it all up, the food was my vibe and I will definitely be back to try more dishes. I also want to see a live karaoke as well since live performance with a meal is the BEST!

Yelp
Let's try spicy Chinese bar foods from Hunan! Hunan is a province in China and they specialize in colorful spicy dishes. The decor here gives off cyberpunk-meets-1960s Chinatown vibes. They even have a karaoke stage! LAMB SKEWERS / Comes with 4 skewers, meat is on the smaller side but seasoning is on point! Very spicy, 4/5 STIR-FRIED SPICY INTESTINES / Crispy and fatty, the perfect guilty pleasure. Medium spicy! 5/5 GRILLED SCALLOPS w/ VERMICELLI NOODLES / Always a must-order for bar foods! 4/5 PRESERVED EGG w/ EGGPLANT & SHISHITO PEPPERS / Never seen or heard of this before! Comes in a literal urn the size of my head and you use the mortar and pestle to smash the ingredients together. This was my favorite dish! 6/5 if possible! GRILLED EGGPLANT / Comes completely covered in garlic! 5/5 PUMPKIN CAKES / Served piping hot...so fluffy and pillowy soft with a light dusting of sugar on top. Not too heavy on the pumpkin flavor, 5/5 easy! Super friendly and welcoming staff to help provide suggestions if you are overwhelmed by the menu or if it's your first time trying Hunan food! Thanks for reading! ^-^

Yelp
Highly recommending this new local hangout spot! I cannot say their skewers are the best tasting in the 626 area as it is too spicy for my taste but their main dishes are very tasty, especially their black peppered beef and egg fried rice. This place is not cheap compared to other drinking establishments but their GREAT customer service trumps all surrounding locations. The owner and staffs are all VERY friendly and accommodating. This, to me, is very important as I would rather pay more to eat at a place where I feel welcomed than at a bar or restaurant where the staffs are lazy and appear mad at the whole entire world. It's super easy to find parking (underground) and they close late at 1am, which is a plus for us night owls. The only downside? Lack of T.Vs and wish they could add a VIP or private room with karaoke. :) My group and I have agreed to come back more often. Super excited to come back soon!

Yelp
Tang Dynasty is a really cool spot! I found the ambience, vibes, and decor to be very enjoyable. Lots of fun drink options, and supposedly "free beer refill" after 10pm. I'll definitely have to come back soon to take advantage of that! My friends and I came here a few weeks ago for our first time. We didn't really know what to expect. We were all pleasantly surprised by how big all of the dishes were. Definitely satisfying! Service was a little slow, but we didn't mind.

Yelp
This place use to be called Chang'an. I haven't dined here in awhile. We decided to come back again for their garlic vermicelli scallops. It is still just as good as I had it over 3 years ago. We also tried the beef, shrimp, and chicken skin skewers. The shrimp skewer was so good. I normally don't like eating the shrimp skin but the way they cut the shrimp to grill was just tasty! They also have an open karaoke stage. If you go up to sing, you get a free beer or dessert. Servers were friendly.

Yelp
Surprisingly delicious place, with KARAOKE! We went here late at night ~ 11pm, they were open till 1am. We got - Fried rice (EXCELLENT, Best ever!) - Boiled/slightly fried eggs dish that was stewed or cooked in a sauce - Perfectly prepared green beans - Spicy Green Chili's with thinly sliced pork belly (delish, but ultra spicy) The service was kind. Really outstanding was the pot of tea. Couldn't tell what kind it was but very good quality. Place was very clean and service was kind.

Yelp
Looks better than tastes! Very disappointed! Service is ok at the beginning but they started to move tables and chairs around while we were still eating and chatting. We cannot have a conversation because of the noise they are making. Will not come again.
