"Not many dim sum restaurants make dishes in-house these days — most serve frozen wares reheated for service. But that’s not the case at Tang Gong, which is home to the best crispy baked barbecue buns. Another unique item is the purple yam salted egg yolk balls — the exterior tastes like a crispy, hot mochi ball, while the inside oozes out steaming salty egg yolk. Other notable dishes include spicy fried garlic shrimp dumplings and crispy red rice noodle rolls. Dim sum variety during the pandemic is not as vast as it used to be, but the restaurant has been slowly trying to offer more items." - Kristie Hang

Place was lively on a weekday lunchtime. Feels like the Chinese folks in the know love this place. I love seeing the bad one star reviews. Yes please stay away. This place is so good I’d like to steer people away and keep it all to myself. They are taking covid protocols well. Keeping things very clean and also have some limited outdoor tables. The food is just beyond amazing. Basically order anything off the dim sum menu and it was delicious. Prices are on par with other dim sum spots. The stand out was the baked crispy pork bun. If you don’t wanna believe this review. Please please take the advice of the one star reviews and stay far away.

Google
Dinner was excellent. I have not tried dim sum yet. The interior is clean and new. Seafood was very fresh and prices were reasonable. We had lobster, geoduck clam, and fish. The geoduck clam was cooked in two ways--sliced/stir fried with veggies and the shell portion was cooked in a soup which was really good. The fish was also cooked two ways-- filleted and stir fried with veggies and the belly, fins and bones were fried and then cooked in sauce...all very good.

Google
We went to this restaurant for dim sum yesterday. Other dim sum flavors are ok. French BBQ pork buns are not my favorite. But it takes about half an hour to wait for dim sum.

Google
Recommended for dim sum yum cha but price per dish was a bit higher than other dim sum places in the area, regardless of Small, Medium, or Large dim sums. Egg Tarts were well worth it with very crispy crusts and standard Shu Mai also good choices. AVOID Roasted Pork Belly with Macao Style. Menu states photos are for reference only and they really mean it with this order. Photo in menu looks like a generous plate with 20 pieces. The real dish had 12 and laid out in such a way to look somewhat scarce (one piece was eaten in photo). It's a small complaint but it was a premium dish so other restaurants (Monterey Palace) serve this better. If not for this incident, would have rated 4. Management kept insisting this was the order they serve and that of course it's a little exaggerated as it's a stock photo but despite the fine print, it felt misleading (other dishes we ordered with photo references matched quantity [egg tart]). Order swapped with a Beef Chow Fun which was good. This is a new restaurant and interior is very...grandiose (excessive gold theme borderlining tacky). One other complaint is the table set up. It felt uncomfortable that the tables and chairs were set such that people had knees touching table leg frames. Would have preferred if one of their morning setup checks was to make sure tables were organized so there was actual legroom underneath for customers. Would still remain on list of dim sum places to go but is middle pack.

Google
Good dim sum but bad service. We waited for 15 minutes before we can find someone to take our orders. Their dim sums are ok as it offers the usual Cantonese style dim sum like Ha Gao and Xiao Mai. This is not the same as the restaurant chain with the same name in China. The food varieties are different on the menu. Will not come back again

Google
Dinner was very good. Fresh food including lobster, shrimp, fish, pork, something for everyone. Service was excellent.

Google
I came to this restaurant for a Chinese New Years banquet tonight. The food was SO BAD that I feel compelled to write a review. I got through 6 dishes and decided to leave because everything tasted bad and I couldn't stomach much of it. It's a wonder they can serve such that Chinese food in the single most competitive Chinese food community in America.

Google
I was surprised that their dimsum was pretty good. I believe they still make their own dimsum instead of buying frozen. During the pandemic, most other dimsum restaurants no longer hire dimsum sifu and they just buy frozen from vendors just to survive because it costs too much to hire them. Nowadays dimsum tastes the same wherever you go. I'll definitely come back here for dimsum from now on

Yelp
Decent dim sum spot in the area! The portions are a little bit bigger than other places and the price is decent. Service is so-so, but expected. It's dim sum, you go for the food not service! You order on a sheet of paper and once you're ready with your order, let them know. They have all of my favorites - har gow, siumai, cheung fun, and egg tarts. Another highlight was the baked crispy salted pork which was a delicious end of the meal dish.

Homer J.

Yelp
This is my first time I'm here for their dimsum. And, I'm not terribly impressed with this place. The dimsum selection was very limited. Although whatever they did offer, the flavors were pretty good. Their service was decent. It should be noted that they seem to have adequate staff when the restaurant is half full. The ambiance looks luxurious on the surface. Despite this fact, many of their chandeliers flickered, and are a bother if one is sensitive to flickering lights. Btw, the entire plaza is so dilapidated, and most of the shops and restaurants are gone.

Liza Jane J.

Yelp
I think the classics- Har Gow, Siu Mai and shrimp and chive dumplings are the best. Big size, good flavor and fillings. The Beef tenderloin and mushrooms dish on the dinner menu was delicious. We found the lot easy to park, the restaurant is upstairs on the second floor. We came at dinner time and there was not a lot of people so service was good. I can imagine when there are loads of people on weekends or for dim sum at lunch, service might be a challenge. Dim sum at dinner is more expensive but it was still good quality. Bottom Line: I'll definitely come back but probably at dim sum time!

Wayne G.

Yelp
Located on 3rd floor. Came for lunch. Easy to find parking since the plaza is nearly dead. Order dim sum by marking a menu sheet. We wrote a dash next to each item for the first round of ordering then circled checkmarks for the 2nd. I suppose you could ask for a new menu sheet but we didn't want to waste paper. Just tell them how you marked your subsequent rounds of ordering so they can order you up the right items. Dim sum was decent and food came out quick. Service was good but a little slow because they didn't have enough staff. However, this didn't stop us from enjoying the tea, dim sum, and catching up with family/loved ones. We stayed til closing around 3pm and they didn't rush us to leave. Again, staff was very nice/accommodating. Inside is spacious, bright, and relatively clean. Tables are set a good distance apart and seating is not cramped. A decent option for dim sum.

Yelp
My strong Cantonese sense of loyalty is precluding me from leaving a two star review here, but it must be noted that the "outdoor dining" is really just THE SMOKING SECTION. Those signs indicating that "this is a smoke free building" are as old as the sad, shuttered 20 yr old storefronts of the once glitzy, now ghost-inhabited Empress Harbor complex. So if you're coming here hoping to eat outdoors and finally get some non-takeout dim sum after a long break precipitated by the pandemic, just know you'll be doing it in a cloud of cigarette smoke. I treated my uncle to lunch here on a muggy summer Sunday (he's a smoker so I almost feel like he tricked me into coming here) and although it was worth it just to see him and catch up, I probably won't be coming back. Service and food are about typical for an average dim sum joint, and parking - either in the awkward, dirty outdoor lot snaking around to the Daikokuya in the back (which is probably the only other thing keeping this complex in business other than this dim sum place) or in the dank, stinky underground lot - is relatively easy to be found because most of the stores and restaurants have long since gone out of business.

Yelp
Our friend's mom treated us here for our friend's 21st Birthday when we visited over Spring Break. I had pretty high expectations for dim sum/Cantonese food/Asian food since we were in the 626, and it definitely lived up to/surpassed those expectations. She got all the classics -- chicken feet 凤爪, shrimp and leep dumplings, pork & shrimp shiu mai 烧卖, Portuguese egg tarts 蛋挞, shrimp dumplings 虾饺, and more ... We got to load up on veggies from a dish (点菜, which is usually not part of dim sum 点心) before our long drive. A very authentic spot with just the right amount of flamboyance in their decor, haha. Will come back next time for dim sum when I'm visiting the area :)

Anh L.

Yelp
This place is okay, there's better dimsum out there. I would go to Longo, Seafood Harbour, or 888. Dimsum is very standard, don't expect anything with flair.

Jennifer Y.

Yelp
One of the best dim sum spots imo because of the taste of the food. The dishes beyond dim sum are good too! Plenty of parking, no thrills, and great food and reasonable prices.

Graciela C.

Yelp
Came here after someone's tiktok made the purple sweet potato ball a must get. All in all, the dim sum is GOOD. The next 5 dishes are in order of best to worse: Best 1- Shrimp had kow. Huge and crispy shrimp with the right amount of flavor and moisture. 2- Sticky rice in lotus leaf. $5.98 Large item. Really good. They were huge and also had half an abalone inside. Tasty. 3- Turnip Cake. It was very good! But didn't have a sauce. It was so tasty, just perfectly on fried. 4- Creamy Purple yam $L (Large $5.98). It was pretty good. The outside crispy, mashed yam that wasn't sweet but the runny egg yolk was. 5- Chicken feet was average good. Tea per person $2. Overall pretty good dim sum in Monterey Park and not as crowded as some other places are. You order with the paper menu and later they bring it to you as opposed to carts being pushed around. Parking is plentiful underground.

Jason L.

Yelp
Updating for dinner service. Sadly this place is not a dinner hot spot. It was quiet and easy to get a table. The food was solid. They also had a limited selection of dim sum. Hope this place manages to stay open as their dim sum is stellar. A little known secret. Little fuss to get a table here. And the price and food quality second to none.

Jasmine Z.

Yelp
My new favorite dim sum place in Monterey Park. I like that the prices are the same whether it is weekday or weekend. Ordering is easy as you just check off the items you want from their sheet of paper. The dim sum dishes are also pretty large and they don't really skimp on the size aspect. The taste is classic and reasonably priced. Must try sweet dim sum (in addition to the more standard xiu mai, rice rolls, shrimp/leek dumplings): - Special creamy sweet buns (soft on the outside with runny salted egg center) - Macao Portuguese egg tarts (delicious tarts that have flaky breading) - Creamy purple yam buns (crispy on the outside, gooey yellow center)

Greg G.

Yelp
My go-to for dim sum! This place never fails and it's always hella good. I only come here for dim sum and every yes for time I've left satisfied. If you're looking for a new dim sum restaurant to try, try tang gong!

Dean Y.

Yelp
Service was the worst in my experience ever. First off no service almost whatsoever. No soy sauce, and they want to charge mustard and chili sauce for $1??? You can find better service anywhere else.

Ann Q.

Yelp
For the quality, service, and price, you have a dozen more better options available in the SGV. Nothing really stood out here from the har gow, to the chicken feet, to the XLB. We also ordered the lunch special sweet n sour pork. The pork was very nicely fried and served crispy. But flavors lacked salt big time otherwise that would've easily been my favorite dish if not best sweet n sour pork I've ever tried. Service like many other reviews stated is lacking and almost non existent. Extra star is for the gentlemen who did his very best to try to answer our questions when he couldn't speak a word of English. Apparently hot sauce is $1 each, but you can get chili oil for free. This place is located in what I would consider a dead plaza. Where it was a hopping plaza decades ago, it's now run down and full of vacant shops. Plenty of parking available and great dessert options in walking distance post meal.

Yelp
What's up: here for dim sum! And they have outdoor seating set up in the walking area. Parking: Underground parking is easily accessible from Garvey Ave. Some spots are kind of tight. There's also surface level parking that is easily accessible from the Atlantic Blvd side. Environment: The have tables set up all around the outside area of the restaurant. Once you go up the escalator, you'll see tons of tables spread around. The first time we went, the wait was loooong. We were told that the best thing to do is to go right when they open. And that's what we did this time around. Once we arrived, one of the employees running around just told us to just sit at any open table. They later came by to ask us what kind of tea we wanted as well as give us a pencil and the menu. Once the form is filled out, give it back to them and wait for the food to come. What was ordered: We had the har gao, shui mai, cheng fun, char sui bao, beef tripe, and chicken feet. Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. The food overall was good, but the service wasn't too awesome. They didn't come by very often and we had to keep asking for hot sauce and tea refills. Credit cards are accepted.

Yelp
I came here with a big party on a holiday weekend. I called to make a reservation, it was very easy. (It was somewhat pandemic times, May 2022.) Service: The service is absolutely BAD. For a big restaurant, they probably only had 3 servers. We had to grab our own utensils because we could not get anyone's attention. Food would take for ever to come out. I never care too much about the service (hence the relatively high rating). But be aware. Food: I liked the food a lot. the Shumai was one of the best I had. Cheungfun was very good too. I liked the variety and the unique items. I would say those are some of the essential things with me, and because of this, I rank the food at Tang Gong pretty high. Parking: Because it was in a little plaza, there was plenty of parking. No one at our party had an issue finding parking.

Yelp
Looks like I've found my new favorite dim sum spot! I didn't want to give up my fave hidden gem, but I cannot stop singing this place's praises! The dim sum here is sooo good, I dream about it sometimes. The siu mai and hargow staples are solid here, as is the shrimp rice noodle roll. The steamed pork ribs with garlic are so tender and fall off the bone. In fact, the last time I had it, there were very few bones and lots of meat, which was incredible! The salt and pepper fried squid is the perfect fried dish, so light and crispy. If it's not sold out, definitely get the baked crispy pork bun. It's nothing quite like what you've had before and once you have it, you'll always need it! Can't go wrong with anything here, really. The staff is generally really helpful and accommodating. Definitely come early or later in the dim sum day. There is plenty of parking, either in the underground parking garage or on the outside of the plaza. Love this gem and can't wait for my next visit!

Pui Y.

Yelp
Came on Sunday to get dim sum. We got there kind of early , a little after 11, and we're seated outdoor. The food took A LONG TIME to come. Some dishes I ordered on the second round came out before the first. Note that one of the dish took an hour before it came. There was a sign that said sorry for the lack of aero. So I helped myself with a few things like the condiments. However, the food that came out all tasted great. Luckily I was not in a hurry at all that day and so can wait for everything without getting pissed. Otherwise I won't give a 4 star.

Kenneth H.

Yelp
Let me save you some time and sanity, if you're trying this place because your aunt or uncle or grandparent or someone heard about this place, turn around now. We are a Chinese speaking party and I'm going to translate this review later for you to show your Chinese speaking relative. I'm writing this review as I'm still sitting here being told by the 3rd (4th now) waiter they forgot about our order and it's being put in now. I'm watching all the tables around me ask where their food is as well. We've been sitting here for 30 minutes. As soon as we came in, we had a table for three and were only given two chairs. We were not asked what tea we wanted when we got seated. After about 20 minutes and some complaining someone apologized and asked what tea we wanted. I couldn't tell you about the food because as of right now I'm not convinced they have any. Update: another host came to give us our order sheet... They gave us one from the wrong table. Our order is going to another table. Update 2. An hour later we got our shrimp rice roll (ha Cheung) and we also learned mustard and chili sauce is self serve from the front... Lol what is this place... Updated 3. Finally a hero waitress is going in and fixing her coworkers mistakes... Our food keeps coming out to another table and being sent back to the kitchen because it's the wrong table. At least 8 orders have been mixed up. Update 4, just kidding nothing is fixed. Our food is now going to the table on our right. Final update, we are cancelling the rest of our order. We just want to leave Drive down the street to Elite Dim Sum instead. In fact go anywhere else instead. I know this place reopened recently but it probably should have just stayed closed. Save yourself some frustration. The Tik Tok purple balls aren't worth it. Please explain to whichever Chinese relative who is insisting to eat here that they've been mislead. You can do so much better. Btw the shrimp does NOT taste like shrimp. It taste like... tap water?

Elizabeth W.

Yelp
Four stars for sitdown open-air dining...Covid protocols...felt very safe with all servers wearing masks and plastic mask protection. Your choice to sit inside or outside.. inside is spacious...it's a dim sum PALACE. But you want to know about the food....so....Hom sui gok was beautifully formed, and fried golden, not greasy at all. And huge!! And delish!! Best I've ever eaten...good balance of stuffing and the gelatinous yet crispy shell. The loh bak goh didn't seem to have dried shrimp in it, which is fine by me bec I'm allergic to shrimp. It was a little rubbery, but it's been a year since I've eaten this, so all is forgiven. The beef balls are huge and good albeit a bit packed dense, but great flavor. Same for the fish balls, very good. The char sui cheng fun was different...it had corn and peas in it...not just bbq pork and the long white rice noodle wrapping. Good tho, just different. I liked it. Must try the white char sui bao...so unusual...on the inside, char sui just like a regular bao...on the outside, it was like a pastry... lightly sweet with a crumble topped by shaved roasted coconuts and I think ...corn flakes. I've never seen this before and it was so soft and tasty...sweet AND savory...yum yum yum...soooo fun to discover something new..... Okay about the service...they appear terribly understaffed...so servers all seemed stressed...and...well dismissive...well, basically rude...however they seemed so hurried and grumpy, it was amusing and we felt sympathy for them, all working so hard, just stretched thin...I was dining with a local dignitary...who was treated the usual special difference...we thought that was so funny...jusy so happen, the mayor was dining nearby and stopped to say hello...none of us were terribly perturbed by the service....so u are forewarned--you may be waiting a long time to be acknowledged or given a menu....so don't go ravenous...eat before you eat just in case it takes a half-hour to flag someone to obtain tea or an order form. By the way, you order off a paper menu, checking off the items u want. Then hope you can flag the uberbusy harried wait staff. Bring your patience...but i promise the dim sum is worth it!!

Sheldon C.

Yelp
Classic, good, reasonably-priced dim sum. Love this place. Excellent BBQ pork buns - they have a special baked one with corn flakes on it. And the shrimp and chive dumpling is the juiciest I've ever had.

Yann P.

Yelp
We went here for some dim-sum with my parents. I have not been to dum sum also three years. The place was large and very spaced out even with tables outside. You get the menu and you can select the dim sum you want and they will bring it out to you. The prices reasonable and the food very good. Loved the rice wrapped in the locus leaf and the tripe and Phoenix claw. Everything we had there was very flavorful i would of gone another time during my trip to La but we just didn't have time. The place was largely space and clean.

Sandy C.

Yelp
After some extensive Eater LA research, we chose to go here for a quick dim sum lunch on our way back home after a concert in LA. Everything was wonderful! HUGE shu mai and shrimp and leek dumplings. The turnip cake was delicious as was the xiao long bao. Completely forgot to order pork buns but the turnip cake was so filling it ended up being the perfect amount of food. Great, affordable dim sum in a pretty ballroom with white tablecloths and golden chairs. Very friendly service too! The nice older man helping us taught me the traditional way to say thank you for refilling my tea, which I appreciated. :-)

Cindy Z.

Yelp
Oh boy, it's been over a year since I had dim sum. For my second outdoor dining experience since COVID-19, I took my family for dim sum. There are a few locations with outdoor dining, but my mom wanted to come here since she heard good things. Since we arrived half an hour after opening, we just missed the first round of seating and had to wait over half an hour to get seated. Regarding safety precautions, there's a number of tables setup all along the outdoor terrace. They really used all the space they could to make outdoor dining possible. Since there is a roof, the loud chatter does echo just like it was when dim sum was indoors. Each table is setup using decorated plastic tablecloths, plastic plates and cups, and wooden chopsticks to all be disposed after one use. They also provide each table with their own hot water to refill the tea themselves. Note that the hot sauce if self-serve inside the restaurant though. As for the food, you won't get the full dim sum experience like you used to, but it comes close. The menu is also more limited, so be aware. But it has all the best and popular dim sum items you'll want. Just check them off for the order to be placed. The ladies come out in carts to drop off your orders as you dine. It was still a lovely experience to dine out again. Medium dim sum items are $3.98 and Large dim sum items are $4.98. You are also charged $1.68 per person for tea. We ordered 8 items for a family of four and left quite full.

Josephine C.

Yelp
My sister was craving for dim sum so we drove there on a Sunday afternoon in November. They still have outside tables. We arrived and noticed inside was busy filled tables. The wait to eat inside was 20 min instead we sat outside. We got our tea and menu of $4.88 (m) $5.88 (L). It took awhile to get our food since limited kitchen staff to make dim sum. The wait was well worth it. We always get the basics-har gow, Sui mai, beef cheung fun, Portuguese tarts, ham su gook. Everything was delicious, especially beef cheung fun was smooth and melt in my mouth. The Ham Soo guk was fried just right and it was yummy. The staff was nice and accommodating.

Jason S.

Yelp
Service is good and price is reasonable. This is one of my top 3 go-to dimsum restaurants. Ample parking and unlike other dimsum places, there is plenty of space between tables.

Kyle W.

Yelp
One of the newer dim sum restaurants, this place offers dim sum by pencil and paper rather than the traditional push carts. Dim sum here is pretty solid, though avoid the bbq pork buns as most of the filling is fat. We ordered a variety of dishes, and the shrimp dumplings (har gow) stood out as there is a generous amount of shrimp and not much fillers, enclosed. The siu mai is also quite substantial, not skimping on ingredients. The lor mai gai (lotus leaf wrap sticky rice) also stood out as this one has a small quantity of abalone which is hard to find unless at a premium price in other places. However the fried rice we got skimped on a lot of ingredients so some dishes are really hit or miss. Go with the ones that stand out like the har gow, siu mai, and lor mai gai at bare minimum and you'll have a solid dim sum experience!

Juan F.

Yelp
One of the few places for Dim Sum that is still doing outdoor dinning - so we came here because of that to feel a bit safer. No carts - you order a la carte and bring you the fresh stuff once its ready. Everything hit the spot and nothing to complain about.

Mike L.

Yelp
Solid solid dim sum! The food is reasonable priced and everything is great. The food comes out super quick and fresh. The wait staff is also friendly and prompt, and the place is clean. Nothing to complain about. The shrimp dumpling (hao gao) is really the star of this place. One of the best hao gao's that I've had. It's large! It's super juicy, and best of all, it has a smokey flavor that just really makes it above and beyond. The baked crispy pork buns were also stars. The differing texture along with the fatty pork just hits the spot. But really get the hao gao... It's so good... I salivated just writing this out! Drool drool drool! And this is really the reason why I'm giving this place 5 stars haha! I came at 1:30 on a Saturday and there was no wait which was also a huge plus.

Humberto G.

Yelp
Our waiter was awesome and the food was yummy....highly recommended , I bring East Los Angeles College colleagues here and family...

Stacy W.

Yelp
I haven't gone out for dim sum in a while. This place was new so decided to try it. Bad mistake... the dim sum options are very limited and quality is not worth the price. We were served expired shrimp dumplings- fortunately they refunded us.

Jeff L.

Yelp
It was a good experience at a restaurant that used to be known as Empress Pavilion Food was recently priced. Slightly higher than the restaurant across the street but the decor and presentation (plus newer) than the restaurant across the street Service was good Egg tarts were delicious Short ribs were delicious Fish balls could be tastier Rice noodles were cooked differently (more like what I've had in Guangzhou/Shenzhen/Chikan/Toisan restaurants) but tasted good. Conclusion: Place that I would return to

Marissa M.

Yelp
We walked right in! My friend and I were prepared to over-order lol, and marked off a ton of things on the menu. The French style pork bun was so airy and I loved the sweet slight crunch of the bun with the salty-sweetness of the pork. Mmm. We made a mistake of only getting one order of them. The shrimp in the har gao and shumai were MONSTROUS. Super yummy. Good balance of wrapper to shrimp on the har gao, particularly. The ribs didn't have too many bones and were full of flavor. The calamari was perfect! Noodles weren't great. They used styrofoam plates which was kind of weird, but I figured it was due to extra health safety. Lol. Definitely want to visit again!!

Susana T.

Yelp
We only ordered the egg tart, plain rice roll cheung fun, steamed fish balls and fried radish cake. The steamed fish ball is soft and mushy, it's not al dente at all. The egg tart filling is so thin it's like the tomatoe sauce on a pizza, the fried radish cake is passable a d the rice roll is alright except... you have to ask for the red sauce, hoi sin sauce and they don't have sesame sauce to go with it wherein a must have for plain rice roll cheung fun. It's a total disappointment. Never again will I go here.

Young C.

Yelp
Went on Sunday for Dimsum and waited about 30-35 minutes to get a table(kinda average wait for dimsum, I guess) and another 34-40 minutes for someone to take orders.() Also, no one was going around to ask to refill the tea.(wth) Maybe the wait time is better during weekday? Not sure. Even though we waited so long and the service wasnt attentive, their food was pretty good.

Elena S.

Yelp
Tang Gong was unbelievable! The dimsum's we ordered were huge and super juicy. Restaurant was clean and spacious, everyone there was very friendly. I will definitely return and totally recommend to my friends and other family.

Maria Q.

Yelp
Food is okay ! The restaurant has a funky smell as soon as you enter that will make you lose your appetite .

Norie V.

Yelp
First time we visited here. First, it was hard to find the place since I parked in the back and it was in a small mall. You will not find this place from the back, you need to go to the front, main lobby area and take the escalator up to the 3rd floor. We were 12:30pm on Sun, the most busiest time and waited about 40 min and got seated. There were a lot of empty tables, but they said not enough servers to clean the tables and serve customers. We were a bit sad about that. The service was a bit slow due to that. But we totally understood. We all loved their food. My least favorite was beef with rice noodle. My most favorite were shrimp with rice noodle and pork rib. I will be back for sure! But I will try to be there at the opening time next time.

Yelp
Ambiance: minimum waiting time, walk-in friendly, clean and bright dining hall, though super loud inside, typical dim sum atmosphere Service: a bit slow with ordering and delivering food, everything comes from the kitchen, unlike some other dim sum places, there's no food carts moving around the hall Food & Drink: standard menu items, (S)(M)(L) and specials Shrimp Dumpling - *** average Pork and Shrimp Shun Mai - **** very tasty, large pieces of pork, recommend Chicken Feet with House Sauce - **** rich in flavor, recommend Beef Tripe with Scallion and Ginger - **** crunchy texture, recommend Shrimp and Leak Dumpling - *** average Pork and Preserved Egg Congee - **** very tasty, recommend Beef and Cilantro Rice Roll - ** so so, too much starch mixed with the ground beef, meatless flavor Baked Durian Pastry - *** served cold average taste Macao Portuguese Tart - **** freshly baked, recommend Tea - *** oolong, pu-erh etc. Price: decent portions and reasonable prices, about $20 per person

Yelp
This is another new addition of a Cantonese restaurant. The best dish here was the fried chicken which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Suckling pig and squab were a close second. Overall the other dishes were not top notch, and there are restaurants who do much better. The restaurant scene is a very competitive in the SGV.

Yelp
This is a new place in town! So..... I really like this place, but my parents have many suggestions and are really picky when it comes down to formal Cantonese food (so, their opinion did influence this review). I feel like they make things here a little better than the business that was here beforehand. Also, I did feel like they went the extra mile with their soup which has more chicken flavor than other places. On the other hand, my parents had suggestions ranging from the saltiness of the food to a change from fried peanuts to boiled peanuts. Lastly, service. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here; however, I think one thing people need to know is that service changes from people to people and the service I experienced was really good because my parents understand Cantonese. I think it's important that people express their voices here if you do feel like your experience at a restaurant was particularly negative.

Yelp
We used to come here when it was still the Empress Harbor Seafood Restaurant (Pokemon Go still has it listed as one of their Pokestops). Located in the Atlantic Place Shopping Center, they have limited parking on the top side but there's always the underground parking; the entrance faces Garvey Ave. Once parked, take the elevator or escalator all the way to the third floor. We were surprised when we arrived around 9:30 am that the lines were not too long and were quickly shown to our table. You won't find dim sum carts here. This place is following the other method of ordering where you write down the number of dishes you want on the menu and pass it to a staff member to input it into the system. As soon as the food is ready, they'll bring them to the table. We ordered a little bit of everything from the dumplings and rice rolls, to noodle dishes. The food was pretty decent and the portion size looked pretty big. Everytime they bring the food, they'll cross out the item that listed on the item printout. One time, they crossed off the wrong item and we had to get them to fix it. I will say that the service could have improved a bit. Some food took a really long time before coming to the table; especially the Pan Fried Turnip Cake. We placed two orders, the Turnip Cake being part of the first order, and it never came. Eventually, we flagged down a guy and asked about it and he quickly went to track one down. We also placed a to-go order and although it was some fault on us for not checking earlier, we found out that they didn't give us the order of the Pork and Shrimp Shun Mai (and I really liked eating that one). Overall, the food was good; I feel it was a bit better quality than some places. The service wasn't too awesome since they lost some of our food. The environment was a lot more roomy than your typical dim sum restaurant and it was comfy. Credit cards are accepted, but even though they had American Express listed outside, they don't accept that. Go for Visa, MasterCard, or Discover.

Yelp
Decent dim sum. We used to go to their restaurants in China( even though they have the same name, buy not sure if they are the same group which is a public company based in HK), but the quality of the dim sums are definitely not the same. For those of you that are craving dim sum, this may be a good place to go during the pandemic since they are among only the few dim sum restaurants open during the pandemic. With the outdoor dining, the menu is limited. Only the basic dim sums are offered, although they do have some lunch special dishes on the menu. The prices are reasonable and the dim sums are mediocre. We came because we thought they are the same group as the ones in China and Hong Kong. I do recommend their Macau egg tarts and the Cocktail buns. They did a good job. The the egg tart shells are flaky and the egg tart fillings are very buttery soft and tasty. Not too many dim sum places have cocktail buns on their menu, this place has this bun and they are very fluffy and good. We had about 5 dishes of dim sum and the bill came out to be $30. Not bad. Parking is plenty with multilevel parking lot.

Yelp
Another disappointment of a dim sum place in Los Angeles. I went in with high hopes only to leave with disappointment and regret on why I decided to eat at this place at all! The skin on the steam dumplings tore apart too easily and there was no consistency in the flavors as some were either too bland or overly salty. The chicken feet in house sauce was not flavorful enough and the baked crispy pork bun had way too much fat versus meat ratio in them. They were trying a tad bit too hard in copying Tim Ho Wan's pork bun. They failed miserably! Halfway through my meal I started cancelling dishes that didn't come out yet. The durian mochi had way too much cream and not enough durian. The skin was like a wonton wrap and tasted nothing like mochi. The chilled Osmanthus Jello was too sweet and did not have enough Osmanthus flavor. Customer service was thankfully decent at least. Let's just say I wanted to hurry up and finish the meal with my family, pay and get out of there ASAP!!!

Yelp
My family agreed that this is suitable replacement for Lunasia since the food quality is good and prices are more reasonable. Nearly every dish we ordered was considered medium size at 3.88 each. The good: Har gow were large and plump, beef cheong fun had a delicate, thin skin, beef balls with bean curd was tender, the char siu bow was flavorful, the Portuguese egg tarts had flakey crusts, white tripe was crisp. The okay: char siu cheong fun included corn which I didn't love and the beef honey comb tripe was a bit mushy. I would still consider ordering both again. They were slow to remove dishes from the table. Overall, it was a good dining experience.

Yelp
WHAT I GOT: -Ha Gao Shrimp Dumpling $3.98 4pc. 6/10 -Pork & Shrimp Siu Mai $3.98 4pc. 7/10 -Chicken Feet $3.98 5/10 -Steamed Pork Ribs with Garlic $3.98 7/10 -Shrimp and Chives Rice Roll $3.98 7/10 -Special Creamy Sweet Bun $3.98 3 pc. 4/10 -Baked Crispy (I think it's cereal on top) Pork Bun $3.98 3 pc. 6/10 -Macau Portuguese Egg Tart $3.98 3 pc. 6/10 Overall, the dim sum here is okay. It's not as flavorful as other places I've been to in the area. The food also comes out a bit slowly - we probably got one dish every 5 minutes or so and then three came all at once. Everything is super fresh when it comes out though!! LOCATION: -Pretty big location located on the 2nd floor of the Daikokuya plaza. Can fit plenty of large parties. PARKING: -There's overground and underground parking so shouldn't be an issue here WAIT: -No wait for 4 people on a Sunday around 1 which is really rare for this area!!! NOTES: -They give you a bowl in the beginning with hot water to wash your chopsticks and cups! Very similar to some places I've been to in Asia -Not the type of places with carts. You check off what you want on the menu and they bring it to your table

Yelp
Tang Gong serves excellent dim sum that you order off a menu. The food was hot and fresh with some creative dim sum items that are unique at Tang Gong. Both the pork and shrimp sui mai and shrimp dumplings were huge and good!! The baked crispy pork buns and honeycomb cake were some of the favorite items. The traditional beef chow fun was well done. The only disappointment may be their BBQ pork which was average and the pork and shrimp soup dumplings with thick skin and minimal soup inside. We were able to order in 2 rounds so we were not inundated with food all at once which is too typical for Chinese restaurants. Reasonably priced for the quality of the dim sum and very good and friendly service. The upscale decor and place was very clean and well maintained. Tang Gong is a new addition to the competitive dim sum scene in the SGV and hopefully they will survive with local support. I will certainly be back!

Yelp
Had dimsum for the first time in a while and my mom swears by the shumai here. They're ramping up and need more wait staff, but I came after 1pm and they were managing the tables pretty well. Our food came out maybe 20 minutes after we ordered. Good quality dim sum for the price.

Yelp
Food quality and taste is back to the level when they first opened. Dim sum is fresh and tasty. Not full of MSG. Unfortunately the menu is limited. As like most places, price has gone up ..mid to higher end but the quality justifies it. Top 3 dim sum places for me right now Other 2 would be Enlightened 168 in Arcadia And pleasure ocean in hacienda heights
