I've been eyeing this place since they opened and was glad to finally make a visit this past Sunday at 4PM after watching all these reels of other people trying to make it on their own.
The shop is located on the north west corner of queen & John St. It's where the Super Balls cafe used to be. There's outdoor bench seating, and only room for a few people inside, single file. This place is perfect to visit on a day when it isn't raining or chilly!
During my visit, there were 10 people ahead of me in line. The line moves relatively quick, though it took up to 10 minutes for me to get to the front and inside. They have cute pink walls and decorations. They have a fridge with basic refreshments like water, and a snack wall by the exit with items similar to pocky.
They sell tanghulu which is like modern candy apples, on a variety of different fruit, thinner sugar layers so you don't feel like you're breaking your mouth and jaw. They also sell chocolate covered strawberries in a cup. I was only there for tanghulu.
The price can be up to $4 per skewer of fruit. You get a few pieces on a medium skewer and there's a small cup at the bottom of the fruit skewer as a safety net. It's definitely expensive, but I thought it was delicious. I ordered the Grape and Clementine. While I liked both, the Grape stood out to me because of the thin sugar layer paired with the ripe fruit. The Clementine sugar layer was too thick and you know when you break thick sugar, you get sharp pieces. Wasn't a fan of that.
I took my time enjoying the 2 sticks in front of their shop on the wooden bench. There's no shade, so might want to bring a hat! They have trash bins at the end of the benches so you can throw out your skewers responsibly.
I will be back. Thank you!
