My friend invited us to a Moroccan ladies night. The flyer for it was vague - there was to be food, dancing, henna, music. Sounded ok, I figured it would be a buffet and I could hang out for a bit and not stay all night. It was $40, which seemed steep for some food but I got peer pressured into it. Anyway, I am autistic and am not big on loud environments. If I had known this was going to be mostly just loud music and dancing, I would never have gone. They had asked that I prepay over Venmo, which I thought was strange. But the owner is a friend of a friend, figured it would be ok.
I get there and immediately regret it. I couldn't handle the loud music, stomping and yelling. It was intense. There was no food. We waited for a bit, there gave us a cookie and some soup. Another friend and I decided we couldn't handle it. My Apple Watch was yelling at me about it being a loud environment (over 100 decibels). My other friends stayed and food wasn't served until after 7pm, we got there before 5. My hearing was shot, and if you understand autism, I couldn't really function for the rest of the night.
I tried to get a refund since I didn't stay and didn't eat anything besides soup, I said what would be fair because I would never have signed up for this had I known? And if I hadn't paid beforehand, I would have left as soon as I got there because it's too loud and I can't be in a place like that. I told the owner, I have autism, this is a disability, and I want my money back. Her response? "We did nothing wrong, why should I refund you anything?" Absolute sheister. She blamed me for my friend taking cookies to go. I didn't ask for cookies. Why am I paying $40 for that? Would never go back.
