As a vegan with predominantly non-vegan friends, eating out can sometimes be tricky, especially when I'm out of my element (L.A guy here). That said, when one of my friends suggests a cuisine that centers much of its flavor in using spices, whole foods and such--I'm all game. This is the case with Tangierine Cafe, which provided me with the most delicious dish I consumed during my stay in Orlando.
I had already yelped the establishment, so I was well aware that there were vegan options (falafel, hummus, no brainer). I was actually more ecstatic to give Moroccan food a go, for although I've consumed the aforementioned foods before, I had never set foot in actual, Moroccan eatery/cafe.
We came here on my friend's suggestion since he proclaims himself a goer of all foods foreign and Middle Eastern-based, and I have to say, I thanked him countless times over. The food was exceptional. I ordered the vegetarian platter; which is served with falafel, hummus, Pita, couscous, tabouleh, a lentil salad and a olive salad of a sort.; I subbed the lentil salad for extra hummus (for free--score!) and the standard Pita for whole wheat Pita (neither of these standard options are vegan). They were very flexible in my substitutions and I highly appreciate that.
The food, as aforementioned, was perfect. From the hummus to the tabouleh (which I like but wouldn't put on my list of favorite foods), every bit of that dish was worth licking the plate over and over again. I even felt the tango was of the citrus juice in the tabouleh complimented it well--and I loathe citrus.
Overall, Tangierine Cafe is deserving of five stars because it's food is delectable, the prices are exceedingly reasonable, and the ambiance is quaint of what I would expect inside a Moroccan eatery/cafe. I highly encourage anyone visiting Epcot to make their dinner stop here.
