We had a great rental experience! I booked online a couple days ahead of time and when we arrived at 10:30, we were immediately brought inside and quickly setup with our bikes, as well as a map and some route advice. Our city bikes rode incredibly smoothly and were comfortable for 30 miles of exploring.

We had an amazing time on our 4 hour bike tour of Minneapolis thanks to Josie and Tangletown Bike Shop. We rented a couple of ebikes and they were easy to use, in great condition and still had battery left after 50 miles of touring. We were amazed by all of the bike trails and infrastructure in the city. So bike friendly and so many places to enjoy a beautiful day. If you’re in the area stop in and see Josie, she’s a Minneapolis native with a ton of information. We highly recommend Tangletown. Thanks for an amazing day!

We rented a few bikes online the day prior and the process was easy. As easy as it was, I still goofed up the size bikes we rented and they easily accommodated exchanging that for us. 🤪 The staff were all very nice and helpful, offering maps and directions if we needed (I used to live here so knew my way around the trails already). We enjoyed a full day of biking all over uptown, DT, NE, North Loop, etc. I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for service or rentals. Minneapolis is a great town for biking with such extensive trails systems.

My partner and I came in for tune-ups and a front brake repair. Even though they were booked out two weeks, they greased our chains and did a temporary fix on the brake. The service was excellent, and the staff is always incredibly friendly. Highly recommend this place for all your biking needs!

Absolutely the best place to rent bikes on a trip to Minneapolis. We had a large group and called several shops but they only had 3 or 4 bikes available. Tangletown had a large fleet and their website was easy to book through. They were extremely flexible and helpful. First they let us postpone our reservation by a few hours because it was pouring. Then we had an issue with a bike lock when out riding and an employee came out and helped us. The bikes were in good condition and they are very close to a great bike path which we took to Minnehaha falls. All in all definitely recommend this shop.

This is the first shop I went to when I began cycling. I was so tired from the huge hill I had to go up before arriving I dropped my bike when taking off my helmet. No one jeered or snickered, and this meant a lot to me as I was already feeling self conscious. Extremely beginner friendly, and also budget friendly. They convinced me to not get a full bike fit costing hundreds and first do some simple seat adjustments which fixed my issues, when they could’ve easily sold me a full fit. They’re not the closest shop to me, but they’ll always be my first choice in the area.

Great rental bikes and even better customer service! Highly recommend filling out rental forms online in advance, makes checkout very fast. Very easy access to several trail - and the Bryant avenue bike superhighway rivals some European versions.

What a great experienced staff. I stopped in to learn how to replace handle bar tape. Long story, had Total Knees Replacement surgery, thought I would never be able to ride again. Normally Riding 3-5k miles a summer. As he showed me how to apply tape and what to use, I mentioned that I was having trouble rotating my right knee. he explained how he could adjust my road bike. So I plan to get in and work with them. Adjust my bikes and get back riding. So excited. So if you need adjustments, replacements, all things bicycling, go to Tangletown Bike Shop, it’s totally worth the trip! More to come with this story Cheers, Greg I am a rider with high mileage. We enjoyed a full day of biking around Minneapolis' incredible bike paths around the city on very light and well maintained city bikes. Jenny was super friendly and knowledgeable making sure we were well adjusted and informed before we headed out for our ride. We will definitely rent here again when in town!

Tangletown sells a great selection of bikes and ebikes at affordable prices, and they do great work. Seriously, their repair techs are super knowledgeable and fast, you will be very satisfied with the quality of their work. Even better, they always have great tips and answer any questions you might have about bikes. They really seem to care about you leaving the shop happy with what you bought or the work they did. My friend and I rented bikes from the shop and I just want to say the staff was unfailingly pleasant and helpful. When we returned, they inquired how the ride went and calmly accepted some feedback about one of the bikes. I highly recommend them for rentals and would think they would be just as excellent for sales.

If your hair is really really hard to brush when you're down in SoMins (South Minneapolis), then you may be in Tangletown. Luckily if you're feeling sexual, these guys will help you be bikesexual. Located in the south suburbs of Minneapolis you will find this cute little Bike Shop which reminds me a little bit of my Dad's bike shop (which he sold years ago) when he was first starting out - in that it's really cramped and crowded and has way too much stuff in here and it's friendly and busy and it serves the community excellently although you can probably only cycle for about three months a year around here because the winter lasts for another seven hundred and three months a year. Ouch.

I have been to many bike stores in the metro. I am a competitive Triathlete so I look for places that are fair priced as well as helpful and fast. Many times I need a repair quickly because of a race coming up. Regardless on both of these occasions I was not in a rush I just need some tweaks to one of my road bikes. This place is full of friendly staff that have a real interest in helping you. (I have been to many place were I feel like I am just a number) the tech I worked with quickly identified my problem and said he would get me take care of right away ( I assumed that would mean 5-6 days) he called me 3 hrs later. On the second visit we both agreed I should consider not only a new chain (the reason I came in) but also a new gear cable and possible brakes. It turned out the brakes were fine but a new brake cable was in order. So new chain, gear cable, brake cable, adjust the detailed, and do a over all assessment on the bike. I took my bike in 10 minutes before the store opened on a Wed. ( they saw me outside and instead of pretending they had not they rushed over and opened the door) My bike was ready the following day. (Many metro bike shops would have kept My bike for over a week.) The cost was just over a $100.00... again many bike shops have a flat fee just to diagnose your bike that is $50-60.00. It's a small store so selection is limited. But for most people they will have everything you need.

This review is on behalf of my dad, who doesn't have Yelp, but knows I'm an avid Yelper and had such a good experience here that he asked me to review Tangletown for him. My dad came here last week to get something on his bike fixed after he messed around with his bike too much and broke something (whoops). My dad is a very active biker and has gone to multiple bike shops, enough so that he's come to dislike going because they usually charge a lot for repairs, take a long time to fix his bike, or act a bit arrogant towards him. So, as mentioned, he usually tries to fix things on his own which in this case resulted in him making the problem worse. However, his experience at Tangletown was nothing like the experiences he's had at other bike shops. The Tangletown employees were extremely kind and attentive, and eager to help him fix his bike. Not only that, but they were able to fix his bike within a few hours, whereas at other shops he usually expects to have to wait a few days to get his bike back. Also, the cost to fix his bike was extremely reasonable compared to other shops he's been to. He expected a $100+ bill, since that's what it usually is for his repairs, but got one far less than that from Tangletown. So, if you're an avid biker looking for a quality shop, go here!!! My dad definitely had an awesome experience and is planning on only going to Tangletown from here on out.

Friendly, attentive, quick service, and not just from the cutest shop dog in town! They have a great selection and the prices were really fair. I really loved my old bike (which was stolen last year), but I already like this bike way better. Mike made sure it fit me properly and that I picked the features I needed most. I would highly suggest stopping in for a service, accessories, or a new bike. They really are the best bike shop in town!

They got me in the queue quickly and the technician rapidly diagnosed the problem and had the right tool to repair it. After the work, they only charged me $5. I was very grateful to have a fully functioning bicycle again for such a fair price.

This is the second time I rented a bike from this shop. The location is perfect and a short ride to the beautiful bike trails near the lakes. We ordered our rental bikes on line. It easy, quick and quite simple. Rental include helmet. They are very customer focused and very accommodating. I reserved on my credit card but wanted to put in on a different card when we arrived. They unlike most places did not see it as an issue. The bikes were well maintained and very comfortable. We rented hybrids. The neighborhood was great. I will definitely return on my next visit to Minneapolis.

I needed a flat fixed on my bike, they were able to fix this in15 minutes! Great staff and inexpensive!!

Love Tangletown Bike shop. I needed to special order a Fuji bike and the Fuji website only listed 3 authorized dealers in town. I picked Tangletown because of their location and am glad I did. I called right b4 closing and the woman who aswered said they would order the bike I needed and swung in the next day to do so. In the midst of the corona wave Mike helped me get the bike ordered and asked the right questions to make sure it was right. The bike arrived quickly and when Mike called me he told me that not only was it in but assembled and ready for pick up. I will go back as they have everything you look for in a bike shop.

We called on a Saturday morning as soon as they opened, hoping they'd have four bikes for rent. They did, so we drove into town from the 'burbs and were very pleased to see four great bikes for us. Prices were low, bikes were great, and they helped us adjust the seats for the perfect fit. 10/10 will rent again.

This is a great local shop. The staff really takes the time to figure out what you need, and they are very laid back and no pressure. They have a nice selection of styles and will get in what they don't have quickly. Pictures of their new customers showing off their new rides shows some pride in getting the neighborhood on wheels! Good experience there with sales and service, some new bikes and accessories and some used bikes.

Absolutely remarkable bike shop. Krissy, Mike, and Josh do a great job of really listening to what you need, taking care of you, and getting you out the door with exactly what you need. A must-visit for anyone looking for a new bike or repairs to their faithful steed.

My husband and I visited this store today and were delighted. He was looking for a used bike with pretty specific qualifications so unfortunately we did not find what we were looking for. However, the customer service was spectacular. Even though it was obvious that we weren't going to find anything today, the guy helping us sized my husband and even named a few other shops that we could look at. We owe these guys one and plan on stopping in again soon!

Super bike shop! Great prices, super SW Minneapolis location, fast service and friendly staff - what else can you ask for! We just needed a tune up but I would bring the bike to Tangletown Bike Shop for other fixes. Highly recommend!

They rent, repair and sell. We have done all three at one time or another. Their speedy service is well priced, and they usually do any repairs right when we come in. They empower us with the info needed to do our own maintenance next time, too. Such a great place! We are lucky to have it in our neighborhood. If it is tough to park on 50th Street during rush hour, park around the corner and walk your bike down. This place rocks!

Today, while biking in SW Minneapolis, I popped a tube so I took the bus to the nearest bike shop, which just happened to be Tangletown Bike Shop. I bought a tube and as I was changing it in the shop the staff noticed that my tire was toast. They immediately proceeded to figure out how it happened and what we could do to prevent it in the future. They ended up fixing it quickly and giving me and old tire they had lying around for free so I could get home. Very kind hearted and community oriented. Highly recommend.

Super helpful, really friendly! I was staying at my mom's house and wanted to take advantage of the beautiful bike trails around my hometown, but the bike sitch at the house was a little dicey. I stopped by this great place and got a solid (and affordable) helmet, plus had one of the kind guys take a look at my old bike and diagnose/fix a weird squeak that I couldn't solve. 10 minutes and $30 later (great price for a helmet plus a tune-up) and I was fully prepped for an amaaaaazing early spring day of bike-exploring. This bike shop is great. I hadn't purchased a bike in 10 years and had no idea what I was looking for exactly. The staff were really friendly, knowledgeable, and didn't try to up-sell me like some of the other bike shops I went to before this one. It really felt like they cared about matching me with the right bike for my needs and within the price range I wanted. The customer service is excellent, and I would absolutely go here again.

Was in town for just a couple of days and had my derailleur cable break on me just as I was starting on a ride. Looked up the nearest open shop and brought my bike in for a quick fix. They were done in less than 15 minutes and fixed my front derailleur problem as well. Great, friendly service and very reasonable price.

Top notch business!! My husband and I rented bikes for a half day. Worked with who we assumed was the owner. Very helpful and knowledgeable. Had great suggestions for bike trails. The bikes were in excellent shape and easy to ride. Plus they came with a hamlet and a lock! We would definitely rent bikes from Tangletown when we are in town again. Highly recommend!!

The folks at Charlie's provide the best warranty service I've ever experienced. The derailleur broke on a bike I'd bought from them a month previously. I don't have a car, so I was stuck with a busted bike and no way to get it to the shop. After I explained the problem to the shop guys, I got an e-mail from Charlie himself, offering to send someone to pick the bike up. And the amazing service didn't stop there. A friend volunteered to haul the bike and me to the shop the next morning, so I didn't take Charlie and Co. up on their offer. When I arrived, Mike looked the damage over, said the best thing to do was to replace the whole derailleur...but they didn't have that model in stock. Could I wait a few days to get the bike back? I agreed and left the shop. We weren't three blocks away before I got a phone call. Mike had talked to Charlie, who'd told him to take a derailleur off one of the new bikes in stock and put it on my ride. Would 45 minutes be all right? Yes, guys, that would be all right. More than all right. You're heroes.

Mike and Gabe were very helpful in finding me a lightweight but upright bike - I'm rehabbing from a back injury and can no longer ride my regular road bike. I had numerous test rides and adjustments and am really happy with my bike. This is a neighborhood gem.

What a great store! Mike and Gabe at Tangletown are our family's go-to resource for bikes. Friendly, reasonable, knowledgeable and skilled--what more could you ask for? They support the local school team, so my son knew them. They sold him a fixie at a very reasonable price and have helped him to maintain it. Gabe totally refurbished my 1970s bike, and it rides like a dream. Parts, lights, racks--they have what you need or will get it fast. They will treat you well and you will leave the shop happy.

Good shop for rentals, conveniently located very close to some great rides. Helpful staff, they will make sure you have a good ride. Definitely come here if you're traveling.

I have had a few small repairs done here (haven't purchased a bike, but have my eye on a Framed fat tire). They are the antithesis of the bike shop stereotype. They are friendly, helpful, completely lacking of attitude--which I have truly experienced elsewhere. Today they replaced a broken seat stem while I waited for a great price.

Excellent experience! Dropped off two bikes, one for a tune up and one for re-wrap and adding brake levers to the cross bar. Had a great conversation with Gabe, and he was able to show me exactly what was going to be done, and how it worked. Told me 3-4 day turn around which was faster than any other shop I've used in the area, and got the call barely 24 hours later that both bikes were done and ready! Great employees who know their stuff, are patient, and willing to go the extra mile to ensure you're happy with the service. Definitely will be returning, and hopefully purchasing a bike there in the future!

I have taken my bicycle to Tangletown two times. The first time to have routine maintenance done on an aging bike. The work was excellent and reasonably priced. Another bike shop had told me I needed a new bike, but Tangletown's work on it rendered a new bike unnecessary. The second time resulted in prompt repair of a chain that was slipping. The old chain -- about 40 years old -- needed to be replaced. Again, efficient, reliable and relatively inexpensive.

My search for a new bike brought me to Charlie's as they are a Fuji dealer. I had a good idea of what type of bike I was looking for, but wanted to explore the options. I talked with Mike for about 45 minutes, he was very knowledgeable and I could tell right away he knew what he was talking about. The conversation shifted towards a build they recently had done on a Cannondale R600 frame (I believe that was the frame). After some more research and searching of my own, I returned to Charlies with a Cannondale Caad9 frame. I gladly had Mike do the build for me. Again, we spent about 45 minutes going over what I wanted, what he was going to do and an estimate on cost and time. The work was very well done and it was very quick. I dropped the frame off Friday evening and I picked it up the follow Tuesday. After a quick ride that evening, I fell in love with the bike immediately. The work was very high quality and throughout the entire process, Mike and Charlie made sure I was happy and getting what I wanted and staying within my budget. I would highly recommend Charlie's Tangletown Bike to anyone who is thinking of getting a new bike, doing a build or just wants to talk cycling. I don't plan on taking my bikes anywhere else besides Charlie's.

I have been a Mpls biker for many years and familiar with most of the bike shops. I decided to take my sons bike to Charlie's because its close to my house. While it is a nice neighborhood shop, I find them slightly over priced. For a simple tire change it cost 45 dollars (two tubes plus labor). Its about dollars more than more known shops.
