Tangra - Review - Soho - London - The Infatuation

"Tangra is a neon-lit Soho spot with diner-like booths you can pile into until 1:30am, and a vegetarian menu that mixes Indo-Chinese cult classics with street food. Which means masala nuts thrown back between sips of lychee baijiu slings, hot Bombay popcorn ‘chickn’, and darsaan mango soft serve to finish." - Sinéad Cranna

I had a great experience at Tangra in Soho. It’s a pure vegetarian Indo-Chinese restaurant, and I’d strongly recommend booking in advance. It’s definitely worth it. The food was excellent. The flavours were spot on. Really tasty without being overly spicy, but still full of depth and character. The portions aren’t huge, but given the reasonable prices, they feel fair and satisfying. The service really stood out. Our server, Tim, was very friendly and welcoming. He took the time to explain the menu, suggested a few dishes for us to try, and made us feel well looked after throughout the meal. Overall, it was a brilliant experience. Even if you’re not vegetarian, this place is well worth visiting at least once.

Had a really good meal at Tangara last night. The atmosphere was relaxed, the service was friendly, and the menu had a lot of interesting options without feeling overwhelming. We started with cocktails — the Coconut Negroni and the Lychee Baijiu Sling. Both were well made, especially the Negroni, which had a nice twist without being too sweet. For starters we had the Chinese Bhel and Masala Papad, which were light, fresh, and a nice way to ease into the meal. The Bazaar Momos were a standout for us, with a melty filling and a really solid Johl-style sauce. For mains, we had the Chilli Paneer, Himalayan Sadeko Chicken, Garlic Aubergine, and some noodles on the side. Everything was well cooked and flavourful, with the chicken and aubergine being the favourites at the table. We finished with the Chocolate Biscuit Caramel Sea Salt and the Naked dessert. Both were good and not overly heavy, which was appreciated after a big meal. Overall, Tangara delivered a solid dining experience. Good food, good drinks, and a place I’d happily go back to.

We visited TANGRA based on an Instagram video we saw and we were not disappointed! We booked ahead of time to be on the safe side but even on a Friday lunchtime this place is packed. Staff are incredibly welcoming, the venue is compact but the atmosphere is lively. You cant go wrong with anything on the menu but we were very impressed with the Indo Chinese flavours coming from the grilled aubergines, lollipop chick’n’ and chilli paneer to name a few dishes. The TANGRA chai is worth a taste altho the cup is small and not quite refillable such as Dishoom. Lastly, the soft serve is a must try. Overall, this is a must visit and would definitely visit again.

We had been looking forward to trying TANGRA since they opened and it didn’t disappoint at all! Fantastically flavourful Indo-Chinese cuisine with warm service and a great ambience. It’s all super tasty and the spice level was just right for us - spicy but not overly so. We look forward to our next visit!

This place lives up to all the hype. I cannot belive I was left blown by all of this vegetarian and vegan food loaded with flavor. Right from the moment we walked in, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The seating is nice and cozy, decor and lighting is A+. The portions are small so you will get try a lot of dishes. You'd wanna do that at a place like this. Loved the manchow soup. The hakka noodles are a must. The Manchurian was the best I've ever had outside of India. One feedback I have for the team: The non alcoholic drinks were the tiniest portions I've ever had! Throw some love to us sober folks! Also, I was seated on a table for 2 next to register, and had to actively avoid getting hit in my elbows by the wait staff trying to get utensils etc from that station. Maybe some more thought to the space in that area. Other than that, everything was just perfect. Would come again.

I visited spontaneously on a Saturday evening. They were quite busy but offered me a table for 1 hour. It’s a long and narrow space, with most of the seating at the back. I tried the Jhol momos, chilli cheese quesadillas, honey chilli chicken and burnt garlic rice. It was a lot of food for one person and in hindsight I should have skipped the rice. The food was decent without particularly standing out. The Jhol momos were my top pick from what I tried, served with a hearty accompanying sauce. The honey chilli chicken was also solid, but the quesadillas and rice were less memorable. All the dessert options were ice cream based which was not ideal on a wintery evening, but I did try out the chocolate biscuit soft serve and it was ok. More enjoyable was a cup of their chai, which was pretty decent. Service was friendly and reasonably efficient. My bill came to £58 of which £12 was spent on drinks. Overall a decent new opening which has a differentiated menu focused on Indo-Chinese cuisine. Their menu does look very enticing and this is what initially drew me in, but I have to say the reality didn’t quite live up to expectations and it’s definitely not on the same level as Fatt Pundit, the incumbent Indo-Chinese option in the area. That said, still not bad and could be a good option for a casual walk-in or a late night snack given they are open until 1:30am on weekends.

Taste is suitable for British People. For Bharatiya people it may taste bland. Quantity is very less (You can not expect more in central London restaurants). Finally got Best ginger tea(It was on the house) in England. Service was very friendly and good. Even service charges are very reasonable. Highly recommend for vegans and vegetarians.

We went here to celebrate birthday. Booked in advance. Staff was helpful and courteous. Great Indo Chinese dishes. We loved everything we ordered from Manchow soup to Hakka noodles. Our kid does not eat spicy food and they were able to provide some dishes like garlic burnt rice and potato fries without chillies as well. Loved it. I'd recommend them to anyone wanting Indo Chinese cuisine.
