Tanka, a trendy spot in a nostalgic mini-mall, serves up delightful East Asian dishes, with a must-try Peking duck that’s flambéed tableside.

"To get to Tanka, you’ll have to step into a ‘90s time machine: The Grand Retail Plaza, a vintage mini-mall with pink mannequins in sequin dresses. Luckily, this Chinese-fusion restaurant is grounded in the 21st century with comfortable leather chairs and roomy green banquets. They serve some really good dumplings. But the reason we’d pull a Bill & Ted and come back to Tanka is for their entrees, specifically the peking duck and baby back ribs that literally fall off the bone. Order the half portion of the peking duck (which serves about two to three) and watch as the crispy skin curls when they flambé it tableside. The meat is tender, slightly sweet, and served with a generous amount of pancakes, chili oil, and housemade hoisin." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino

I recently dined at this Asian cuisine restaurant located inside the Grand Doubletree hotel, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. Although it's housed within a hotel, it's open to the public and definitely worth a visit. The restaurant offers both English and Chinese menus, which makes ordering easy and accessible for everyone. The focus is on modern Chinese cuisine with authentic Sichuan flavors, and the taste truly delivers—it felt just like eating in China. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was impressively fast, and the staff were friendly and efficient. Whether you're craving something spicy or simply want a high-quality Chinese meal, this place is a fantastic choice. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a genuine taste of modern Sichuan cuisine in a comfortable and welcoming setting.

Upscale Asian restaurant located conveniently next door to the Marriott Biscayne Bay in a small indoor shopping mall. If you’re staying at the Marriott, you don’t even need to go outdoors to access the mall area and get to the restaurant. Tanka it’s very upscale and attractive inside, the people that work there are very professional and welcoming and the food is delicious. Also conveniently, they’re open late, so it’s possible to get dinner if you’re arriving to one of the nearby hotels late or you want to eat after a Heat game. The restaurant is so good that we ate there two nights in a row, which say a lot because there are so many good options in the area, but with their variety of dishes, you can eat sushi one night and tie the next and feel like you’re at a completely different restaurant. Sol was our waitress the second night and she was very knowledgeable about the different dishes on the menu, but I don’t think you could go wrong with any of the fabulous people that work there.

NOW… Where do I start… First Off…. As a Miami native, Trust me on this one: If you’re looking for AUTHENTIC-REAL-(NOT superficial) Asian Food; Tanka Restaurant is where you absolutely MUST GO TO. Second of all: Tanka’s food and ingredients is shipped DIRECTLY from Sichuan China (you will taste those authentic ingredients in your food when you eat at Tanka). The Asian food in Downtown Miami & Brickell is Super OVERRATED and SUPER-OVERPRICED. However, THIS RESTAURANT TANKA IS ABSOLUTELY NOT. The prices are very similar to any normal gourmet Asian restaurant, you won’t be disappointed as you would if you went to those tourist traps in Miami. Lastly, VERY SANITARY. Beautiful CLEAN KITCHEN & Restroom. You can see the chefs (WHOM ARE ACTUALLY ASIAN) cooking the food with this beautiful glass view overlooking the dining area. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT HUTONG or Komodo. You will be disappointed and ripped off.

5 stars for 5 reasons 1. Chicken fried rice was great! Well, balanced fried rice with the taste of umami! Love it. 2. Quantity was a lot for what you pay 3. Price is relatively good for the location and how fancy this place is. 4. The food came out really fast 5. Coolest menu and really cool ambiance for sure.

Really enjoyed my experience. Sat at the bar. The bartender was very attentive. I came on a Thursday around 7 PM. It was happy hour which meant all their signature cocktails were half off. I had a pink and black margarita. It was quite tasty. I also ordered the takoyaki and the shrimp pad Thai. The pad Thai came out before the appetizer but I didn’t mind. Both were tasty. The environment was very relaxing as well.

Great little find in The Grand! The rainbow bowl was really good. The tuna and salmon were so fresh and tasty! The chicken fried rice was really good and not overly salted, greasy, or with too much soy sauce. Service was excellent! We will certainly be back!

Order Issues + Long Wait Time + Unattended Front Desk The food tasted good and met the expected standard for an Asian Cuisine, but this experience completely ruined my day. I placed a pick-up order on Uber Eats with an estimated wait time of 30–40 minutes. When I arrived at the restaurant 40 minutes later to pick up my food, I noted that two items were missing. They had to remake them, which resulted in an additional 50-minute wait. There was no explanation or apology. By the time I finally received everything, the food was no longer fresh. Another customer next to me said they had already been waiting for about an hour. In addition, the front desk was left unattended for a long time. Many people, including myself, were standing at the entrance with no one available to assist. While the staff were very polite and actively helped me follow up with the kitchen, I believe there are serious issues with the restaurant’s management.
