Tank's Pizza

Honestly the best pizza and calzones I have had in a long time. Best I’ve had in San Antonio to this point. Great prices to boot. 4 kids and two adults ate for about 50 bucks which is basically unheard of these days. Great place to catch a game if you are into sports and features a full bar. Large covered outdoor seating area with TVs outside as well. I highly recommend giving this place a try!!!

I am sorry but we were not impressed. We came here because the reviews made it sound amazing and it was not. There was nothing to the flavor of the pizza. We ordered the pepperoni pizza and it was hard to chew. Ordered an order of the powdered sugar and cinnamon sugar pastries and they were super hard. Tasted like the pizza dough with sugar on it. I couldn’t tell the difference between the two. You couldn’t even chew them. They were so tough. Highly disappointed In the food. I don’t recommend & won’t come back here.

I drove 47 miles to try this place after seeing it on Facebook. These pictures do NOT do it justice. We were greeted the moment we walked in and were able to pick table. The atmosphere was welcoming and there is a full bar. I bet Friday nights here are something else. The hot wings are PERFECT. We ordered the spicy lemon pepper. They were juicy, cooked to perfection and the flavor is hard to beat. If you are a wing fan, do yourself a favor and grab a beer and a dozen. The waitress recommended the Maxed Out pizza, which was all meat and we added jalapeños. Now look here, this pizza ain’t no big bread tons of tomato sauce pizza . Toppings are definitely king here. They all come together creating this semi Smokey medley of flavor resting on a perfectly cooked bed of pizza dough. At first I was taking the usual bite but do yourself a favor and fold it in half and take it to the head. Like it cheesy? Go ahead and order that flat bread then prepare yourself for that marinara sauce..you’ll thank me later. The place is clean, restrooms are clean, service is great and the atmosphere is easy going. Five stars across the board. I will be back and I am definitely letting everyone know.

It's been a place on my need to visit list and today i had a chance to do so for a late lunch. I was not disappointed in the calzone I ordered. Made fresh and perfectly. Just 🔥 service and the sweet tea was actually sweet. I'm definitely going back.

What a great place! We were visiting SA and were looking for a place to grab something to eat. We just happened to find this place on Google maps and decided to give it a try. The second we walked in the door everyone greeted us with a smile. It had this awesome friendly neighborhood vibe that made us feel very welcome. All the staff was fantastic! We had a half and half order of buffalo and Cajun wings to start off. The buffalo were really good but the Cajun were crispy with the perfect seasoning and definitely my favorite. Next we shared the medium sized calzone which was fantastic. Prices were totally reasonable on the verge of being cheap even. We would highly recommend giving them a visit and can't wait to be back in town so we can go again.

The pizza is soooo delicious. This was my first time because a friend recommended this place and I’m so glad we came here! The service is attentive and friendly and the vibes are great! They play decent music in the background and it wasn’t busy for a Thursday night! If you’re looking for delicious pizza you should come to Tanks!

Came here off of a recommendation and glad I did…. The pizza and the service was all top notch I also tried their lemon pepper spicy wings while there… the service was on point the food was on point and I can say without a shadow of a doubt I’ll definitely be back in the future.

I ordered the works, it was a healthy pizza we were not disappointed. Very good pizza & worth the visit.

Came here on a Friday night after coming from Elsewhere and was heading back home for the night. This place was located right near our air bnb, so we gave it a shot. It's very much a neighborhood pizza spot.... so no frills. There were a few people seated and seemed to be celebrating a birthday. We ordered a large pizza, half cheese, half pepperoni, small fries and a full Cajon wings. The gentleman behind the register was super pilot, friendly, outgoing and courteous. Due to someone there asking for a picture, I can assume he is the owner. Our food took 15 minutes to come our and we headed home to eat. Food- nothing really special to mention. When we got the large box, it looked like a medium.sized box. When we ooened the pizza box, the slices were cut small. The pizza crust was soft and the taste was okay. I'm not from the area and used to pizza in NY and NJ so I dint know how Texas pizza compares. But from the pizza I've had, it was average. Fries were okay and not crispy. The wings seemed to be fried and then seasoned. It was too salty for our palette. Came with a ranch sauce that was good. Service was goid.

I woke up and my wife asked me where I wanted to eat. I said Tank's Pizza. I do love the pizza there, and the wings are next level. I really wanted the wings. We live in Houston, so we had to drive over 3 hours to get there, but those wings are worth it. When we arrived, we were greeted by a very courteous gentleman who handed us menus and told us to sit wherever we wanted. About 10 minutes after we sat down, another couple came in. Then about 5 minutes later, a man who was alone came in. Then a woman who was also alone came in. The waitress looked directly at me as she took the couples order before mine. Then she did it again as she took the man's order. And again when she took the woman's order. We were there for almost a half hour before I finally gave up and we left. I am a big supporter of black owned businesses, but I am not black. The waitress prioritized the black customers and her eye contact and facial expression told me that it was definitely on purpose. The crazy thing is, the waitress was Hispanic. So am I. So I'm not sure what her issue was. She clearly had a problem with me and my wife. My wife is very attractive and the waitress was absolutely not attractive at all, so maybe that was the issue? Or maybe she is one of those self-loathing Hispanics. I really don't know. All I do know is that she intentionally did NOT wait on us. It's a shame because I love the food at Tank's but I will not be back. The worst part is, my wife and I are very affluent, so the waitress missed out on a very large tip because of her personal issues. Anyway, if you are not black, or if you are an attractive Hispanic female, you may want to skip this place until they get rid of that terrible waitress. If you work at Tank's and you happen to see this, let me know when you get rid of that waitress because I won't be back until she's gone. TLDR: Great food. Terrible service.

Had another client in SA at the Spurs game, so went here again. Did not disappoint. Everything I experienced in my first visit (except for no salad) was replicated in the second visit. Same friendly staff and owner. They had some kind of concert going on out back that looked like adults only but the kids were all inside with the parents.

10/10! The service was perfect! Friendly, laid-back vibe. You really do walk in feeling like you're home, with family. The pizza was yummy, crust perfect. The wings were also really good, the Buffalo honey were my fave. We're really close to this place and have never heard of it, but I've found my new favorite pizza spot. My daughter was hoping for pasta, they said they won't have any until February... subs, too!

This is a lively "hole in the wall" vibe in San Antonio's east side neighborhood. If you're looking for reasonably priced pizza and supporting a small business, this place is it. The calzone is my favorite item I've ordered; crust tastes fresh, you can add up to four ingredients on top of cheese, and it doesn't leave you with that greasy junk food feeling a lot of oily calzones can leave. The pizza crust has a great garlic flavor. The chicken topping did taste a little bland for my liking. Service can be a little slow but i think that happens when you want fresh ingredients at a local place. Staff communication can improve a bit but that is only based on takeout experiences.

The pizza here is amazing! Everything from the sauce, toppings to the crust. I ordered the fresh from the garden pizza and added chicken, everything was full of flavor and the ingredients tasted fresh. The lemon pepper wings are good also!

I've had Tanks several times over the years and each time the food has been great. The calzones are my favorite. We usually grab a personal one that includes up to 4 toppings and a marinara dipping sauce. It's shareable unless you have a massive appetite. I haven't been inside in a while, but caught a glimpse when I grabbed my order. It looks like they had renovations and the inside looks cute! Parking isn't ideal, it's easy to swing in and out if you are picking up a to-go order.

Had to give this place a shot. The pizza was pretty tasty. The sauce was good. What fell short was the crust. Crust was doughy. Not cooked all the way type of consistency. Had the crust been crispy this pizza would knock it out of the park. Staff was nice. Cool place to try. But don't take my word for it. Go give them a try and decide for yourself.

Food is always great and the atmosphere is inviting to everyone. The back patio is ideal for parties and special events and the owner and his team are attentive

This place a cool energy too it. Everyone welcomes you when you walk in like your family. Great service from the beginning. We came in 10 deep and they accommodated us easily. The wings were awesome. Get the spicy lemon pepper flavor. Easily the best in the business. The pizza was made perfect with plenty of sauce, which I like. After a few beers I was in a good space. Full and satisfied and priced very well. Make your way to Tank's Pizza and fast. I'll definitely be back.

Wow! What a fantastic gem of a pizza joint in SA's east side in between Digowity Hill and Ft Sam Houston. A friendly staff and nice and casual atmosphere are perfect for enjoyjng the stone baked pizzas and wings in an easy going setting. The Works pizza was so good and included onions, olives, and bell peppers! It's no wonder they're expanding to the 1604 and 281(?) Area. Also, once the road construction is complete, they should bring back the lunch buffet!!!

This pizza is good!!! Really enjoyed every bite down to the crust. We went simple and ordered the large stone cheese pizza. It's crazy how regular cheese pizza is but can taste different at different places. This cheese pizza is certainly top tier. Also what's top tier is the service, very welcoming and friendly. DELICIOUS. Our group of 12 arrived after taking our family pictures and we're quickly seated and tended to: their menu is varied enough to accommodate vegetarians and picky eaters. Staff is very welcoming and attentive. The place itself has a huge patio and offers indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered 3 large pizza -pepperoni, garden fresh, and all meat. It was superb. The crust is a light and cracker like. The best I've had in San Antonio. We also ordered lemon pepper wings. They were big, juicy, and flavorful. The food and service was so good, we're making plans to come again next week. Oh and they have a full bar.

It took almost 1.5 hrs to get a medium pizza. They took our pizza and put it on the buffet. It wasn't our waitress's fault, pizza wasn't all that either. It was very messy.. the pizza was not cut well... had to use a butter knife to cut it. When we picked up the slices, toppings completely slid off. I won't be going back. Pizza Hut is better!

We ordered "The works" pizza. It was TERRIBLE. No density of the pizza crust, and bland taste and small slices. The sausage crumbles had a horrid taste. The were partying in the back with blasted loud music also. Seemed they also rushed everything. This had to be the worst pizza I've ever had. Frozen pizza taste better than what we got. Think twice. I'm unsure how they got raving reviews, must me paid reviews.

Read the review about Tanks and thought I would give it a try. Ordered a large pepperoni and jalapeño pizza and 5 hot wings, online. The drive is about 25 minutes from my house so I figured it would be ready when I arrived. Nope. I ordered at 11:04 and the pizza and wings were ready at 12:06. It took an hour to make a large pizza and five wings. It was not busy and as I waited I could see the few customers that were there were all waiting and staring at the kitchen. Meanwhile the owner was sitting at the bar eating pasta and talking on the phone...loud. Food was good, but not something I would return for.

It's a small local business, I really enjoy the crust of their pizza. It was a little cold when we got our Togo order but we just heated it up in the oven and it was tasty! I liked that they have good ratio of sauce to cheese ratio.

Let me start by saying our family loves pizza and we've tried a variety of places in search of awesome pizza. Tank's is one of the best pizzas we've eaten in SA. Crispy bottom crust and really delicious sauce and cheese. And, the wings! Wow, the wings! We had original buffalo and they were sooooo delicious. Like the pizza, crispy on the outside and juicy good on the inside. The sauce was amazing! The overall experience was great. The staff was attentive and friendly and the best part was the price. All this goodness for less than $35!!!!

Stopped by to satisfy a pizza craving after finding them online. Let me tell you they DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Customer service was great!! The staff was very friendly, helpful and caring. Food was delicious. The meatball slider was my family top favorite pizza (all meat) and fried wing combo was also great. The ambiance is laidback, good music, given it being Saturday afternoon 4-5 pm. Definitely will be returning on our next visit!

We took a day trip to San Antonio from Austin and I am SSOOOOOOO glad we found this place! Initially we were going to try a different Black owned pizza spot, but it was a food truck and they weren't open yet; so lucky for us, we ended up at Tank's! We felt super welcomed as soon as we walked in. It wasn't too busy and we received service right away. There were plenty of tables and a great amount of space in the restaurant, as well as a full bar. The music was GREAT and added to the vibe. Our server was really nice and attentive. She suggested the sweet Cajun wings and I'm soooooooo glad we took her up on it because they were FIRE!!! Lowkey my favorite part of the meal! We sampled the gorilla drink and my brother ended up ordering it. It was good, but I wanted a beer with my pizza. Nothing on draft, so I ordered a bottle of Dos Equis. We ordered The Works, minus the sausage and added spinach. The wings came out first and again, we devoured those!! The pizza came and it was delicious as well! I definitely wish we would've got to try one of the pastas, but they're taking those off the menu. I'm not sure when I'll be back to San Antonio, but I know I'll be dreaming about those wings lol 10/10 recommend checking out Tanks! I'd definitely be a regular if I lived there. Went out and tried this place today after reading all the great reviews. Got there close to 4pm. Pretty empty. Only one other table was occupied when we arrived. One guy working behind the counter and he advised us to sit anywhere. Gotta say if it was night I probably would not have stayed cause the area is sketch, but during the day it was fairly ok. The inside was very clean. As far as the food, there was a variety of orders at our table. My youngest son had the cheese pizza, my teenager had a medium maxed out meat pizza, I had a calzone with 4 toppings and my son's mother had the chicken Alfredo. My young son was not in love with the cheese pizza. My teenager though did enjoy the meat pizza. I was told the chicken Alfredo was good but the chicken tasted like it was frozen and microwaved and not cooked to order. For me, the calzone lacked toppings. I had beef, ham, black olives and mushrooms. Both ends had extremely minimal toppings and were mainly bread and cheese. The middle had minimal ham and beef and more black olives than anything. Not well distributed or proportioned. But it was cooked perfectly. Such a shame. Oh I also ordered a few Cajun wings to try them. They were very dry. Just about fried too hard. The flavor was ok. Lots of seasoning. All in all, glad I got to try them. I probably would not go back. Just enough was off with most dishes where it's like I'll just go somewhere that makes it how I know we would like. It's a bit far for me to drive and not have been wowed. But if you're in the area give them a try.

So after work we wanted some pizza and this place has been on my list for awhile. There's construction on the street, but plenty of signs letting you know the place is still open. We walked in and was greeted at the counter. They have a full bar also. After looking over the menu we created our own pizza and wanted a full order of wings with 2 flavors, but we're told we can only get one. Which doesn't make sense because they sell half orders, so we got 2 half orders. Our order was togo and we live about 10 mins away. The food was ok, I was hoping for more flavor. It wasn't the worst pizza, but not the best either. Maybe it would have been better eaten there so it's more fresh. I thought it was cool the owner was there and spoke to us on the way out. I'd be willing to give it another try and eat the food at the restaurant with a few drinks this time.

I ordered Cajun wings and they were the saltiest wings I have ever had. I couldn't even finish my wings. They did not even had a Cajun flavor. I was very disappointed.

Pizza and wings were delicious. Wings were well done, with a nice dry rub on them. Even after twenty minutes transport to the house the wings were crispy...can't ask for more than that! Ownership and staff were professional and very inciting! Highly recommend.

Pretty good pizza Wings are perfect, hard to find bathroom and the area is sus, but small price to pay for good food. Service is always friendly, not your typical San Antonio vale Vergas employees.

Takes a lot for me to write a review. And let me tell you, this restaurant deserves my review, and your business. Food was outstanding. We were a table of 10, all first timers. The pizza sauce is delicious, pizza was perfect, meatballs had great flavor, wings were crispy hot and fresh. Ranch was great too! And the service.... Waitress was kind & attentive. And the (I assume owner) went above and beyond several times during our dinner to ensure we were happy and just thank us for coming in! We used yelp to find this place to eat before a Spurs game. It definitely lives up to the reviews. This business deserves to succeed and I hope they continue to grow and more and more people realize how great they are!!! If we lived closer I'd be a regular. 10/10!!!

I have been wanting to try this place for awhile now and it was definitely exactly what i was hoping for great pizza and even better wings .The menu is small but goes a long way we went for our birthday celebration dinner with about 26 of us and they were very accommodating to us all. Wish i would have taken pictures .

Definitely pleasantly surprised to find such a tasty neighborhood pizza joint. The East San Antonio neighborhood is in the early stages of gentrification, so Tank's is across a pawn shop and a vacant lot. Looks aren't much to go by here. I picked up a medium The Works and split it with my bf. We were both full with a few slices to spare. The pizza had a great crisp and chewy crust. There aren't a ton of toppings but it was simply good. If definitely pick Tank's for an easy tasty meal.

Great Gyro's and Pizza! Really nice owner. The restaurant is clean and inviting. If you haven't been, you should definitely go.

I haven't eaten yet but the food I saw being served looked delicious. The atmosphere is a chill and family atmosphere. Very clean and staff is polite and on point. Mr. Brown Jr. was working the register and did an excellent job. Despite the construction on the road it was relatively easy to park and leave. The outdoor patio is beautifully maintained. They offer a full bar and hookah. I came to do a pickup order and found more than anticipated. Thank you Texas Eats for featuring this. Hopefully Guy Fiere finds this place

Ambience, hospitality and quality all wrapped up in one local place. Hospitality from the moment you walk in to the bartender (full bar yall!)to waitress & finally from the owner-ON POINT Pizza was delicious-unbelievable light & crunchy crust (think saltine cracker on 'roids) Toppings were fresh, evenly distributed and tasty And their wings! Awesome! Size and taste for each and every one Definitely coming back and using take out from here on out!

I was a little disappointed that the restaurant was not very wheelchair accessible and parking was a challenge. We started with cheese sticks which were your average Sysco frozen stick cooked properly and well seasoned with some additional Parmesan. They were hot and tasty with the ranch we requested. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza with extra cheese. It was hot when it arrived with a toasty crust and ample toppings. The cheese was sparse (considering we ordered extra) and the toppings seemed overcooked. The sodas were a little off as well. The waitress was by far the best thing at the restaurant as she was polite and peppy with a great laugh. It was an average pie and experience.

Customer service needs an upgrade. Good is not the same since being sold or moved to a new location.....parking still needs to be thought of for customers are to be welcoming. Once gone 2nd time #NOT going back. This place is confusing to enter with another shop next to the restaurant.

The vibe was good. Dj was jamming. Drinks were good, food was good, service was great. Very accommodating, it was windy outside and they had heaters going. Will def be back!

I can not remember the last time I wrote a review. It's been that long. But after having Tank's for the first time, I was compelled to come out of retirement. We had a large pepperoni pizza, a personal calzone, and lemon pepper wings. The pizza was great. My kids and husband loved it, but the highlights for me were the wings and calzone. OH MY GOD! Talk about flavor!!! The wings are phenomenal! Crispy, full of flavor, and juicy. Now, I normally prefer stromboli over calzones, but Tank's is one of the best calzones I have ever had, hands down! Please do yourself a favor and visit Tank's!

I found Tanks on Facebook after he was featured on KSAT. Tank is a very nice and hospitable owner and once you get to know him that he has a lot of experience with pizza. The food is great, pizza isn't too saucy but that's how I like it but don't sleep on his wings. His spicy lemon pepper wings are amazing. The place is great food large gatherings and he is always having watch parties for sports and others. Go check out this local pizza spot and get a feel for the food of east side San Antonio.

The atmosphere is very family friendly....the owner greeted everyone with a smile and warmth. Everyone was very polite that came in your area. The food is ok(maybe because the pizza was cold and lacked cheese), however the crust is very flavorful. If it had been hot right out the oven, maybe deserving of another star

This place was incredible! A huge hit for the family. It looks intimidating from the outside but the inside is clean and welcoming. The food was excellent, and the staff was so nice and very helpful when it came to recommendations!

Sooooo...I went here again and unfortunately ordered a couple large pie. It was unexpectedly smaller than I thought. I got 2 pies and a pepperoni thing for 6 ppl and it was devoured. I didn't really expect it to be so small. Pizza was good but I was a bit upset with the portioning. Had to supplement with Taco Bell.

Ok without any fluff you wanna know about the pizza right? Top notch, hands down, one of the best pizzas in town. The dough buttery and a good pizza chew. The sauce a good balance of tomato flavor and the sweetness of tomatoes and garlic. Currently Im eating pepperoni and mushroom... and the toppings just compliment each other against the sauce and crust. Everyone go see Tank , he and his staff are friendly, helpful and accommodating!!

We ordered take out on a Monday nite. The restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived to pickup our order. The chicken wings were nice & crispy, the salad was fresh & the pizza was good.

Food and drinks are absolutely amazing! Amazing atmosphere and Great costumer service. My husband and I are so glad we stumbled upon this Gem.

Despite all the construction going on around the area. I highly recommend you stop in. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. The hot wings came out crispy with the right amount of sauce. I also tired their new gorilla drink. Titos and kool aid, most definitely refreshing. I do recommend it. The Max out meat pizza was the icing on the cake. Pizza had a great flavor and a very tasting crust.

I ordered from Tanks through the Yelp App & forgot to order pepperoni as one of my Toppings. The guys at Tanks hooked me up & helped me out. This the kind of Stuff that makes these guys stand alone from other businesses. I'm a fan & will use these guys every time we come to San Antonio! Thanks Tanks!
