What Fort Worth Chef Tim Love Cooks for Musicians Bonnaroo and Austin City Limits | Eater Dallas

"A smaller live-music venue he sees as a touchstone for festival artists, where he met the band Wildrado who are slated to play there; he believes many of the festival performers will filter through this room, noting that the venue’s bookings influence the local touring ecosystem." - Courtney E. Smith

Chef Tim Love Opens Tannahill’s Tavern in Fort Worth With Baked Oysters | Eater Dallas

"Set inside a thousand-person concert venue that opened in October, the Tavern feels like a step up from the British pub/live-music vibe, though when I visited a week before opening the kitchen and dining room were still in disarray and supply-chain trouble had forced the planned Nov. 1 debut to slip to Dec. 8. Love built the kitchen around New Orleans–style oysters, installing a front pass-through with an oyster-shucking station so diners can see and smell oysters coated in garlic-parmesan butter, cheese, breadcrumbs and served with garlic bread — a dish he repeatedly calls the key to the restaurant’s success. The menu leans tavern-forward but travel-inspired (the spot is named for his son) and includes a showy fried bologna sandwich stuffed with paper-thin, house-shaved mortadella; smoked crab and green chile dip with fresh pita; fresh pappardelle with wild boar ragu; a bright cold noodle salad with poached shrimp, seasonal vegetables, Thai basil and a citrus-chili-lime vinaigrette; and a standout duck confit shepherd’s pie with root vegetables and a mashed-potato crust that Love says was inspired by an Air France in-flight meal. The lounge is heavily stocked with dozens of bourbons and soft leather loveseats, the aesthetic is industrial yet warm with hand-selected wallpaper, and there’s even a walk-up for New York–style slices (cheese and pepperoni only). It is located at 122 E. Exchange Ave., Suite 200, in the Fort Worth Stockyards and will serve lunch and dinner Sun–Thurs 11 a.m.–10 p.m. and Fri–Sat 11 a.m.–11 p.m." - Courtney E. Smith

We visited this place on a Sunday in September. I love the stockyards truly enjoy the environment down there. But this particular day seemed to be really busy. Parking was worse than other times I've been but no big deal. Tannahils is typical bar/restaurant @ Stockyard, no better or worse than the rest in my opinion. We just walked in and sat at the table , we found open. I'm not sure if we missed the host/hostess station coming in a different door, or if they didn't have one. Few messy tables , but we found one that was relatively clean right next to the live music 🎶🎵 , which was the best part of our visit! He was great!! Food was average, service was OK.

Google
Tannahill’s Tavern is such a great spot in the Stockyards - part restaurant, part live music venue, and all-around Texas charm. The space is modern but still fits perfectly into the historic feel of the area. The food is classic Texas comfort with a little twist - hearty portions, flavorful, and made to share. The drinks menu is strong too, from craft cocktails to plenty of beer options. Service is friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. What really sets Tannahill’s apart is the live music. The sound system is fantastic, and the venue manages to feel both intimate and energetic. It’s a perfect place to catch a show after dinner and make a night of it. Whether you’re here for the food, the music, or both, Tannahill’s delivers a true Fort Worth experience. Highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the Stockyards.

Google
Wow what a great place! A true Texas cowboy feel! Live music at the bar/restaurant was really fantastic. The lady who was singing was really good. Food was delicious and not overpriced. Drinks were yummy! True Texas experience. ❤️ I highly recommend this venue for dinner & drinks. And they were kid friendly. We even saw baby cowboy there! 🤠

Google
It's located in the Fort Worth Stockyards next to the restaurant. It's an open floor with a bar on each side, has an upstairs on both sides also. Sound is good, needs a little bit more air, ( fan or two up top) would help especially on sold out shows. Drinks are fairly priced and strong enough.

Google
Tannahill’s in the heart of the Fort Worth Stockyards has become a strong player in the live music scene. National and regional acts regularly perform for the crowd. A full bar and menu offering can make Tannahill’s a one stop evening or grab a drink and hear the band before moving through the other historic venues of North Side. Mostly general admission and standing room only…the lack of reserved seating may be an issue for some. We managed to get to the venue early and get the front row. We stood the whole time but were glad that we came.

Google
We recently attended a concert at this venue and we were thoroughly impressed! I honestly didn’t know what to expect when eating at The Tavern but I got brisket with a side salad and it was phenomenal! I’m very picky about BBQ also so this is saying a lot. We sat in the mezzanine for the show and we were treated like VIPs with access to table service and upstairs bar and restrooms. We had a great view and it sounded great from our seats. After the show, we walked around the Stockyards a t but but needed up back at Tannahill’s bar/lounge for a couple of night caps and it was a more laid back atmosphere than some of the surrounding bars. I would definitely go back.

Google
Great Spot for Live Music & Good Vibes Tannahill's Music Hall and Tavern is such a cool venue! The standing-room setup gives it a great energy, and the vibe is laid-back but lively — perfect for catching a show. While the artists here may not be as big as the ones at Billy Bob's, the performances are still top-notch and a ton of fun. The drinks are reasonably priced, which is always a plus, and the restaurant is a solid spot to grab a bite before the show. There's also a spacious bar area just outside the venue that's great for hanging out and grabbing a drink while you wait. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the Stockyards and want a fun night out with good music.

Google
Riley S. Was the most gracious host while visiting this restaurant. His service was amazing and made our trip to Ft Worth a trip to remember. He made us feel right at home with his southern hospitality. He is one of the most professional servers I have ever witnessed, he served our group of 15 without any issues at all. Will return for service like this!

Yelp
After spending the day walking the stockyards a nice lunch and drinks were needed and Tannahills provided the spot for that. We were greeted and seated right a way. Server took our drink order and the manager even brought our drinks and poured my beer. We ordered brisket/avacado queso as an appetizer. Very good. Then i had a brisket sandwhich while my wife had a grilled chicken salad. All very good. Service was slow but not bad and the food was great.

Yelp
We popped in for a late lunch after our train ride from Grapevine on Father's Day weekend. This was our first time to Tannehill's Tavern. It wasn't busy and we were sat within 5mins. After 10mins we were finally greeted by Trayvon and placed our order for the crab & green chili dip, 1/2 dozen Beausoleil oysters, kid's hot dog and 2 drinks. I got up to walk our 2 year old around outside as she was ancy and I didn't want her bothering the patrons in the restaurant. We were gone for 15 mins, plenty of time for our drinks to arrive. Sadly, we waited another 20mins and still nothing. I was finally able to flag down a waitress (her name started with a Y I believe) to check on our order only to find out Trayvon never placed our order. So 45mins in and nothing, no food or drinks. She was kind enough to take over our table (I believe it was #71 or 91) and get the food and drinks out within 10mins. The crab dip and oysters were great. Sadly, we didn't have time to order our entrees because our initial appetizer order was never put in and we had to grab the train back. Trayvon did come over after we got our food and mumbled some words, but never sincerely apologized for his mistake, which is pretty pathetic. Overall, I would rate the couple things we got to try on the menu a 4-5, but the customer service a 2. There are plenty of other places in the Stockyards that have far better customer service and just as good food. You can tell their main focus is the nightlife and music, not customer service. It's no surprise this place has an average of 3.1 stars.

Yelp
After a nice train ride into the stockyards we decided to give this place a try. Big mistake! Seated right away and we sat for 18 minutes and never had a waiter come to the table! Go someplace else. We went to Star Cafe and was pleasantly surprised!

Yelp
Kevin T made me a cocktail that I will never forget, because it was the absolute worst margarita that I've ever had in my entire existence. I dang-near popped an ovary after I tasted it. Just plain awful! $15 + tip thrown into the fire.

Yelp
Great venue Parking is average cost compared to other venues. Good sized bars and upstairs seating in the large band area.
google avatar

Yelp
Go here and do the "all in"! Sign the bandana, get a tequila shot, and GET YOUR BOOTS BRANDED!!! How much you ask? $45 for all three. Ben the retail manager was amazing! Everybody needs a person like him when they go somewhere! He took such good care of us. We were celebrating a few things that day and he was the guy that made it extra special!

Yelp
Ok. Tannahills Venue for concerts is great, BUT I don't recommend eating there. Go somewhere else. While it is a place that has the famous Tim Love (chef) the food was pretty lame and the service was worse. TLDR; don't go for the food and service, they were terrible. But the concert venue is great Ok. So we had tickets for a Tuesday 8pm show, and we decided to try eating there since we have been to Tannahills several times for concerts. Not crowded at all, and our wait person was covering only two tables (max 4 people over the two tables). Ordered the pretzel to start off with, and it was decent, then we ordered the fried chicken sandwich and the fish tacos. The fish tacos were 3 street tacos (for $15), so $5 for a small taco. No sides come with that order. The first taco was ok, but the second, oh no, tasted really off. They over seasoned the fish because after taking a bite, I realized how strong the fish smell was... Strong fish smell. Seemed they overly seasoned the fish to cover up the smell. Obviously it was not very fresh. Could not finish the dish... nor try the third taco. The chicken sandwich was mediocre, with some Texas potato chips on the side. Now the service was very bad because I kept asking for water and refills and our wait person would disappear. I ended up refilling our water and tea. They use glasses that don't hold a lot of water, or tea... Yeah, wanted to like the Tavern portion but alas, not going to recommend this to anyone. Granted, it's in the Stockyards, but for those prices, with poor quality food and terrible service, I think we know there are other places to visit

Yelp
Nice place to stop by for happy hour. The drinks were delicious and the food as well. My burger was not salted too much and was very tender. My friend really enjoyed the oysters. Our server was very friendly and patient with us.
google avatar

Dan G.

Yelp
This place looks amazing! Surprised at how packed it was. Didn't try the food this time but the show was good and the sound was pretty great! Awesome performance!
google avatar

Natalie L.

Yelp
Fun place to see a show and grab a bite. Seats were great on the side of the stage, near the bar. Not too crowded, friendly employees and great view of performance. Also enjoyed oysters, chili and a drink at the restaurant bar while waiting for the band to start.
google avatar

Yelp
We had a great time. We loved the atmosphere & the entire staff was super friendly. Lots of drink options, draft beer was very limited options (I think only 2 types). We got the 1/2 dozen raw oysters & loved them so much we ordered another half. I'd go back just to eat those as my meal. I wasn't a fan of the seat dish, steak was gristley & the twice baked potato was really dry & boring so I wouldn't pay the price for that again. Burger looked amazing & so did my son's chicken tenders, he ate the entire plate.

Yelp
I can't believe this place only has 3 stars on yelp, it was a true highlight to our trip! From drinks to food to the absolute best service we experienced in Fort Worth. We hopped in shortly after they opened, they have plenty of seating inside. Multiple tables and chairs with a bar that is first come first serve. The bartender, Ally, made drinks to perfection and gave us the best conversation and experience. We started with an espresso martini, which was so delicious, not too dark or overwhelming with coffee. She then made us margaritas from scratch, after telling her our ideal margaritas and she nailed it. We noticed multiple rounds of delicious food go past us, so we had to try their oysters. So happy we did, they were absolutely amazing, tasted like they were fresh from New Orleans. They already have a little kick and such amazing flavor, no hot sauce was needed. There was no live music with as early as we went but we were told they would have live music later in the day. If we could've stayed without missing a flight, this would've been our place. Recommend everyone try this place out, true 5 star establishment.
google avatar

Katie P.

Yelp
This was not good. First of all what kind of Irish bar doesn't have draft beer? 2. The crab dip came out with about 4 chips. 3 the fries were cold. My friend's salmon was not cooked and had to be sent back. I had the burger which was good but that was about the only thing. And it was expensive. Would not return.
google avatar

Cody S.

Yelp
Honestly... this was a big disappointment. The only reason yall are getting 2 stars is because the waitress was friendly and kind. First off the Asian salad is so beyond misleading. You think with the description they would tell you that it is majorly NOODLES. definitely not what was expected. The flavor was decent. But wanting a salad and getting a bowl of noodles was a big disappointment. The green beans were good, but over salted. The kids chicken tenders were fine. Nothing to brag about, but decent. The sauce that came with is was awful. Tasted like watered down ketchup with a hint of bbq. That's a no. When my meal was delivered I ordered and paid an upcharge to change the chips to fries. They didn't bring them. She ran back and got them. The chicken sandwich was absolutely disgusting. When they brought it out, you couldn't even pick it up. The bottom bun was so soggy it just became mush. Not a fan of bread and butter pickles, would be better with dill. The waitress was nice and took my plate (with my ranch), left the fries. (I only eat fries with ranch) - by the time my food came back my fries were cold. I tried the chips. They looked like they were FULL of flavor. They were gross. They only tasted like paprika. My "new" chicken sandwich was cold and didn't have Cole slaw on it. Overall... very disappointing. The service was good, the food... was subpar. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
This was out first visit and will definitely NOT be our last! Started with a drink in the bar which had a gentleman playing his guitar and playing some country songs which was a very nice start to the evening. We had a reservation and were seated right on time. Service was quick and attentive. Our server made some suggestions and we opted for the smoked crab dip appetizer...it rocks. Foe entrees we had brisket enchiladas and chicken fried steak. Both were very good and arrived quickly, but not too quickly, and hot. I hate it when your entree arrives about 30 seconds after your appetizer. Not here, well timed. We were full from dinner but when the server mentioned key lime pie as one of their desserts, well, I had to give it a try as it is a favorite of mine. The key lime pie here did not disappoint! It was excellent! Probably the best I have had in the metroplex. Even if everything else was bad, which it was not, it was excellent, I'd go back if only to grab another piece of that pie.
google avatar

Richard M.

Yelp
Ive been sittong here for 30 minutesand hsvdnt receivedtbe SALADi ordered yet..WTF happened to decent service. I'm figuring the food is gonna be just average, if it's good I'll add to the review. I received the salad and it was just average. Lots of better choices to eat at the old stockyard.

Briann B.

Yelp
The service was great. Happy hour, 4-6 pm Oysters were slightly less cooked than I preferred, but they taste great. I was recommended the crab dip. GET IT! full of crab and cheesy goodness. We also got the HH special burger. I did not get a picture because my husband finished it so quickly. Drinks were good also
google avatar

Selenia G.

Yelp
We got to the bar early around 5 PM before it got busy. There was only one bartender and we started a tab. Around 6:30 PM we went to close our tab and there was multiple bartenders, I asked to close my tab and the bartender was so rude and told me he didn't have my tab and I need to go with whoever I opened it with. I'm like??? I told him Idk who it was there was only one person here. He shrugged his shoulders and continued serving others. So rude! Then we went to the restaurant side. Appetizers were okay but my Thai shrimp salad was super salty. Waitress took my friends dishes before they were even done. She didn't even ask before she took them. Everything seemed rushed. We were thirsty and she never came back with water. Will not be back.
google avatar

Melevair S.

Yelp
We decided to go to Tannahill's on Sunday, May 12th after the rodeo and really wish we hadn't. What a mistake - an awful ending to what had been a fun day. The wait staff we encountered were incredibly rude and unwelcoming right from the start and the food was tasteless and really just bad. Really wish we had a do over on this one - ANYWHERE else would have been an improvement. Never, never again.
google avatar

Kelli T.

Yelp
Doors opened at 7pm; I showed up a little after 8 and 500 people were in front of me; another 200 behind me; all standing out in the cold! Inside; only one person was checking IDs and also putting on the armbands; that's ridiculous!! Was glad the concert hadn't started but was definitely shortened because of the delay; was over by 11pm. The band, the acoustics and the concert goers were great; and that was the only positive things I can say. Probably won't be back
google avatar

Ralph B.

Yelp
A real mixed experience here. Started with the restaurant. The food was good bar food, in fact my crispy chicken sandwich and side salad were both exceptional. Everyone in our group was very pleased with their food. The trouble is the service was awful food coming out at different times, missed drink orders, waiting entirely too long. And, all of this when they were not too crowded and plenty of staff just standing around. Then went on to the music hall. Here the staff was attentive and courteous. The venue itself is a nice size and the acoustics seemed quite good. We really enjoyed the band and our time there. So, the best I can do is a 3 ranking based on the restaurant, which actually made us late for the start of the music and didn't seem to care.

Courtney W.

Yelp
Bartender Courtney was great, recommend the crab dip that was good! Super chill on a Tuesday night
google avatar

Josh H.

Yelp
Terrible! Avoid this restaurant at all costs. We ordered the chips and queso the chips were so stale. Waitress seemed insulted when we told her about the issue. She then brought out 2 more set of stale chips before they gave us freshly made chips. Burger had no taste and the fries were soggy. Whoever the celebrity chef is that they claim to have is terrible. Run from this place.

Lydia G.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday because it wasn't busy. We sat and the bar and had no wait, although the bartender seemed overwhelmed having to juggle multiple food and drink orders. Food was good, but not incredible. All in all it was a quick bite to eat, but there's probably better places to eat in the area.
google avatar

Dom T.

Yelp
Attended a half*alive concert here, very nice venue with a great atmosphere! Everything was clean, the security was perfect, and the employees were really polite. Didn't try any food, but it smelled phenomenal.
google avatar

Laura H.

Yelp
I had not heard of Tannahill's Tavern until my daughter mentioned the JoNas Brothers secret concert. We weren't able to get tickets so I decided to take her for dinner instead. Great atmosphere! Even for a concert night where they were super busy, had Tim Love there with his family and we're still attentive, tefficient, friendly, and knowledgeable. My daughter had the chicken sandwich, I had the fried bologna (Tim Love's fav) and we shared the fries (which were soooo yummy) they have a great drink menu and we'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Dominique D.

Yelp
We came here for a concert but arrived quite early. Decided to sit down for dinner in the tavern. Wonderful atmosphere! We were served by Courtney W who was very positive and helpful! Got the brisket enchiladas which I highly recommend. Husband got the pork chop which was good, but kinda small. Had some nice drinks and listened to some live music in the lounge. Enjoyed the concert from the mezzanine which was a great view and was served there by Ashley who was nice as well. Recommend this place highly!
google avatar

Ronna H.

Yelp
Food was not good. fish tacos were too salty. could not even finish. Party of six and no one was overjoyed with meal. drinks came out and then food and THEN the appetizer. never again. As for the service.... he tried.
google avatar

Jon P.

Yelp
It was an Easter gospel brunch. I'm certainly not religious, but I do enjoy gospel music The service was excellent. The food was well prepared. We had a wonderful experience and would go again

Cody T.

Yelp
I went to see Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway and thoroughly enjoyed the venue. It's an intimate space with a great view of the stage. The beer was surprisingly affordable at $6-10 per can. The staff was very friendly and the bathrooms were clean. There are a few pay-to-park lots nearby, so you shouldn't have to walk too far. I didn't visit the tavern, so I can't speak to that, but the music hall was great!
google avatar

Shelby F.

Yelp
I WANTED to like this place. To begin, I ordered a house salad with ranch and the beef stroganoff. My husband had the 1/2 fried chicken. The salad came late. The beef in the stroganoff was nearly non existent and had VERY few noodles., almost like they ran out. They ratio was way off. It also tasted like someone accidentally dumped a can of black pepper in it. (I love pepper, but it was so overwhelming. For me to even mention it says a lot) My husband's chicken was dry and the crust was overcooked. They also butcher the breast weirdly. The macaroni side just didn't not have any flavor. The green beans were smoky and tender crisp. We actually enjoyed them. When we got the check, I was charged $1 for my salad dressing. I didn't order extra, I just wanted dressing with my salad. ??? If I'm paying $9 for a side salad, I expect the dressing to be included. I know it was ONLY a dollar, it was just another disappointment at this point. We did not complain about our food. Maybe it was an off day, but there are things that definitely need improvements. Will I go back? Probably not. There are so many great restaurants in Fort Worth that we love when we visit.

James H.

Yelp
Had front row seats to see Chris Isaak. We were super excited but Tannahills tried their best to ruin the experience. The staff was extremely rude. One of the staff members had words with my lady friend regarding her purse. Forced her to put it in a locker and called her a "Karen". How unprofessional. We will NEVER go back

Danielle A.

Yelp
We came on a Monday afternoon. First they forgot my spouses drink, then we waited over a half hour for 6 raw oysters, which we didn't get to try because we had to leave. Very disappointing, will not return.
google avatar

Foodie W.

Yelp
Great venue! Staff was great. Food was delicious. Facilities very clean. Music was perfect. We were there for special event and they did not disappointed.

Nick G.

Yelp
So far all of Tim Love's food seems over rated and overpriced. Burger was good...but it's a burger.
google avatar

Anna I.

Yelp
Best chicken sandwich I've ever had. Better than chick fil a, their ranch is too good. The service was great and friendly. We sat outside and the music was great! Loved the lights and the chairs were so comfy! Not too busy. Unusually they charged for condiments without notice, but food was great!

Natasha S.

Yelp
Treyvon was our server and he was incredible! We had a party of 8 and he was on point with our order! The food from the oysters, steak, salad, soup everything was incredible!! Absolutely recommend and ask for Treyvon!!
google avatar

Vivian T.

Yelp
Love the live music! He played Johnny Cash:) The Happy Hour $18 a dozen of grill oysters are so good! Even came with two slices of garlic bread. The friendly and attentive service made ig a wonderful experience.

Mike Z.

Yelp
Concert venue is very good and comfortable. Food and service were also good however, there was a 22% service fee on our bill (2-people) in addition to the 20% tip I added. The prices are high enough as is but the additional service fee was ridiculous. Its a 1-and-done for me.
google avatar

Lisa P.

Yelp
Dropped in with my son while we were in the Stockyards looking at all the Christmas lights. We sat at the bar for just a snack and a drink. We ended up ordering the grilled oysters and they were very very good. They were cooked just right topped with breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese with spices. I ordered a dozen so that we could share. I do think they were quite overpriced, but because I was in a great mood, I bought them! The bartender was very good and provided great service.

Yelp
Not that this review is going to hurt their 2.3 star rating but Jacob was so rude. I took out of-of-town guests there to show off Texas's hospitality and Jacob ignored them and then didn't put in the food order. Luckily the other bartender was a sweetheart and put in the order. Go to Tannahills for the bathrooms (it's across from the ice skating rink and restrooms are through double doors to the right of the bar) and then move on. Every other establishment we went to were good to my guests. #shame It's empty for a reason folk.

Yelp
Server was super nice and friendly, a great young man . Odessa High graduate which is ok with a Permian grad. Quest excellent, brownie excellent, dinner salad good. Chicken Fried Steak poor at best. Huge size , all batter. Meat is razor thin , virtually no meat all breading. If size matters but not quality order the CFS . Going back to my beef stroganoff .

Yelp
Love their smoked grilled green beans and Mac n cheese; craveable sides for sure! I also enjoyed their ribs!

Yelp
Came here for a drink and asked for veteran pricing. They don't have it, but they did give us a one time exception and they were very attentive about asking if we needed water or anything else. My husband loves country music and he was jamming to the playlist for every song. A very spacious and classy looking space, and a great selection of beer, wine, and cocktails! The stockyards are a very "touristy" area, but this place has a great feel and amazing staff.

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a Sunday, and had a great experience. Service was quick and food was absolutely delicious. Each dish was full of flavor and depth. The queso has delicious brisket and avocado in it. We did not visit the music hall portion of the venue, but the restaurant was certainly delicious!

Yelp
EAT HERE IN THE STOCKYARDS Stopped here for a quick dinner before the rodeo. Everywhere else was on an hour wait. Service is amazing. Atmosphere was nice and clean and the food.... AMAZING! The food came out super fast and was pretty good. It was flavorful and decently priced. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We've been to The Stick Yards many times! Been here more than once and the food and service is very consistent. We had the oysters, Mac and cheese and bologna sandwich and loved them all. Would have given them 5 stars but the girls at the hostess stand need training. Pretty rude and dismissive. Once you get by them, you will not be disappointed. This is a great find.

Yelp
Ambiance is great, location is great. Food was okay. I would order different things next time, did not love the oysters, mozzarella sticks, or the stroganoff. Staff was friendly, though!
