What a wonderful place in Osaka! On my last day there, after a very late night (lol), I was looking for some comfort food. I didn't want to stray too far from my hotel and Tanoshi was a few blocks away. The restaurant is small with a few tables and I believe a bar sitting. There were 4 of us and we were able to be seated immediately. They had various tapas item, but I really wanted a katsudon (katsu rice bowl). They also ask to choose rice bowl size and initally I wanted LOTS of rice so I chose the medium and the owner asked me if I was sure? He told me it was ALOT. I opted for the smaller one. LOL. And he was right. The small one was perfect size.
As for the katsudon, the sauce had a little sweetness to it that I liked. The katsu was pretty decent and the egg was cooked to perfection. I also had a miso soup (it was raining that day), which also was perfect with the meal. The service was also amazing. The owner was working that day and he chit chatted with us a little about the restaurant.
If you are looking for a quick meal, I would definitely recommend that you try Tanoshi.
