The 15 Best New Restaurants in Buenos Aires | Eater

"Peruvian culinary mogul Gastón Acurio knows a thing or two about the restaurant industry. After the success of ceviche sanctuary La Mar Buenos Aires, the Acurio group decided to show Porteños the ways of Peruvian home cooking. Unlike Tanta in Peru, Chile, and Chicago, Argentina’s upscale downtown location caters to the office crowd. Here, you will find Tanta’s twist on power lunch staples like empanadas, salads, burgers, and sandwiches, plus the real magic, the comforting soul foods. Go with a group to maximize how many family-style dishes you can order, starting with specialties like lomo saltado, ají de gallina, papas rellenas, and causas. For those with a big appetite, try El Bife de Anthony El Goloso, which roughly translates as “Anthony the Glutton’s Beef,” named after head chef Anthony Vasquez and consisting of a 500-gram steak served with pesto fettuccine and creamy huacaína potatoes. Tanta is such a hit in Buenos Aires, there are already plans for expansion." - Allie Lazar

Food is good, not as great as one would expect from Gaston Acurio. Good flavour and texture. Variety of potions could be better but still good. Service is sadly terrible. Worth a visit, but expected more of the place.

The restaurant and the service were top notch. And I will definitely recommend the ceviche clasico. But everything else is downhill. For a Peruvian restaurant, they only had chicken on the menu and everything was so salty. The bar basically only has wine, vodka and one tequila (Jose Cuervo 🤢). I would not recommend this restaurant if you like food. If you want a nice place to have a conversation over cheap wine - I will definitely recommend

Shame because the food was pretty good. The food took over 45 minutes to arrive even though the restaurant was half empty. Imagine if it was full. Service was acceptable otherwise but they got our bill mixed up with the table next to us. Seems other tables also waited a long time for their food as I saw alot of frustrated faces around.

I came for a cocktail and dessert. I really enjoyed both the chocolate cake and the pisco sour maracuyá. The service was good. Next time I'll try other things on the menu.

Overpriced restaurant with average peruvian food that doesn’t live up to expectations. We ordered a dish only to find key ingredients missing, and the staff tried to convince us it was just a sauce, which wasn’t true. Another dish was excessively oily. The fact that the restaurant was nearly empty at lunchtime speaks for itself—our photos back it up.

A restaurant with good cuisine at affordable prices. We were very pleased with the quality and fullness of the taste of the dishes. I had wonderfully cooked stewed beef, and my wife took fish. Very pleasant atmosphere and responsive staff. A little disappointed by the lack of local Argentine beer, but the wine list certainly compensated for everything.

Tanta was absolutely fantastic! The food was outstanding, as expected from Gastón Acurio, one of Peru’s finest chefs. Every one of his restaurants is superb, and Tanta is no exception. Be sure to pair your delicious dish with a pisco sour for the full experience!

The place is nice, the food is tasty. Only problem is they do not serve bread, while some of their dishes are fairly oily.
