Tao's

"Tao's has you covered if you are in the mood for Euro-Asian cuisine. The wide-ranging menu includes sushi and sashimi, steak tartare, poke bowls and dim sum, plus "Signature Grill" dishes such as Thai-style fillet of sea bass, lime, herbs, ginger, soy. The dishes are accompanied by a fantastic and extensive international wine list. A pleasantly relaxed yet stylishly elegant atmosphere prevails. In summer the cosy terrace is a huge draw, and there is also a bar." - Michelin Inspector

Went for dinner. In my opinion it was a bit pricey and didn’t have many food options. I ordered the vegetarian curry and it was tasteless…. At the end 2 soups (2x18€), 1 tasteless vegetarian curry (39€) and 1 sea bass (57€) with a side of broccoli (15€) and still water (8€) to drink costed us around 155€…. The atmosphere and the service were great tho. Won’t be coming back.

I was thoroughly impressed with the exceptional food quality and service at this restaurant. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by a friendly host and had our coats checked. We were promptly seated for our reservation. The wine and cocktails were of top quality. I opted for the gyoza and soup as appetizers, and both were absolutely delicious. For my main course, I chose the fettuccini with beef, which was incredibly tasty and well-flavored. I highly recommend this restaurant for a fine dining experience in Zurich. It deserves a perfect 10 out of 10!

It’s a 10 minute walk from the main train station to this pricey pan Asian upmarket restaurant. The decor outside suitably has bamboo trees at the entrance. The interior is modern and stylish. Welcome was quick and kindly including coat hanging at entrance. (However, we had to walk past the roped off area at the end of the meal to collect our own coats as the waitress was on the phone and that took priority over actual guests in front of her. To be fair, the restaurant had closed at 2 PM although several diners like us were allowed to finish our meals and desserts without being rushed. We exited at 2:30 PM.) The lunch menu has relatively few dishes with a heavy concentration on sushi, shellfish and meat. There are enough vegetarian options however. The food was beautifully presented and service was kindly and efficient. The taste was good but not exceptional. As others have noted, it’s pricey even by Zurich standards. But it is a classy restaurant I would welcome going back to.

We stumbled upon this hidden restaurant between historical streets of Zurich. Wow, what a treat. Beautiful setting inside and out, great outside bar/lounge area, creative and unique tapas like menu for sharing, excellent drink and wine list and the best service team experience

Lunch was very good, the octopus was a good starter, a bit spicy and full of flavour with tomatoes. The truffle dimsum was also nice but wasn’t as special as I thought. The cod was super tender and full of flavor and perfect with the asparagus that has a typical Chinese taste. The Mochi end was perfect, coconut was definitely the star of the three flavours! A good but more high end restaurant 😍

Definitely a go to place in Zürich. It's hidden near Bahnhofstrasse, so location wise it's very good. The service is friendly and also the food is consistently great! I would recommend to book a table in advance, since it's a popular place especially for lunch and dinner. The interior design is hip, young, modern and trendy. Above the restaurant is also a Club called "Icon" which is in my opinion a great club with good music. I will definitely come back:)

Google
The food is good and the terrace looks really nice, I’ve been here few times. However, the service and the attitude of the staff at my last visit were subpar and the opposite of what hospitality should be, and I won’t return anytime soon.

We were there for dinner before going to the club inside the restaurant. We were seated upstairs in a very nice room with wooden decorations, it felt very cozy. Unfortunately, the crispy chicken salad was bathing in its sauce, that was too sugary. If you go there I would recommend to take only the small tapas, dim sum, rolls and gyoza which were good. The service at the restaurant was not very good. They kept forgetting our order. After we wanted to go to the restaurant’s club (that has a different owner apparently) and the service, dj and drinks were not good for so many reasons. If I could rate only the club I would give it a 1. I would only go back for the restaurant atmosphere and tapas.

Yelp
Such amazing food and good service. The drinks are strong and the staff was attentive and very nice. We had the lamb, the duck salad, the steak, and the crispy tuna. Everything was yummy and perfectly cooked. We had a lot of delish food and a lot of fun while hanging out in Zurich. Highly recommend this restaurant with the hidden cute garden.

Yelp
In Zurich, Switzerland, the Michelin-starred Tao's restaurant serves contemporary interpretations of traditional Chinese fare. The restaurant has gained recognition for its inventive menu options, crafted using premium, uncooked ingredients. Although the menu at Tao's fluctuates with the seasons, the following are signature items: Black truffle shavings and truffle vinaigrette drizzled over seared scallops. Duck with hoisin sauce, spring onions, and pancakes. Black pepper sauce on Wagyu beef with stir-fried vegetables Tofu map with rice Ice cream made with black sesame seeds and deep-fried Tao's additionally offers a comprehensive wine list comprising various domestic and international wines. An enthusiastic sommelier curates the wine list and is always willing to assist diners in selecting the ideal wine to complement their entree. The service is exceptional at Taos. They are accommodating and congenial and exert additional effort to guarantee a memorable dining experience. The restaurant exudes an air of sophistication and refinement, characterized by its exquisite dining room and intimate bar. In general, Tao's is an exceptional dining establishment that provides an exceptionally distinctive gastronomic encounter. The establishment is characterized by a sophisticated and refined ambiance, delectable fare, and outstanding service. It comes highly recommended to anyone in Zurich seeking a banquet venue for a special occasion.

Yelp
Good vegetarian choices but they don't have any plant based proteins like tofu or pumfu. Vegetarian dishes are priced similar to meat options. Server was not knowledgeable of the wine list. We were 4 adults and 3 well behaved children aged 6.5, 12 and 14. But, we were seated in the backside outdoor patio away from main patio which has no music. Lastly, server chose to give us tutorial on tipping in Switzerland vs US . food makes up in flavor despite poor service, poor seating and lack of plant based protein.

Yelp
Came here via recommendation from someone we met who lived in Zurich for 6 years. We had two appetizers (soup and bar) and two mains (chicken and salmon), all of which were not great but not necessarily bad. Overall seemed very simple and lacking in flavor or complexity. We also had some sake and a few cocktails. Our server was very nice but pretty busy as it was Saturday night and lacking attentiveness. For example, a few times my drink ran out and it took her 5+ minutes to realize and check in each time. The ambiance was my favorite part. They had different areas of the restaurant- nice outdoor, pet friendly patio, good lighting, different rooms inside for dining. The bill was quite expensive given the quality of food and therefore I would not recommend this restaurant to a friend.

Yelp
Came here for a spontaneous after-work dinner with some coworkers on a Monday night. Never heard of this place before and was pleasantly surprised to walk past the non-descript entrance off Bahnhofstrasse to find cute, little lights dotting the stone pathway all the way to the door. The only bar available doubled as a smoking lounge, and there were 2 guys at the entrance puffing on huge cigars. Yuck. Really comfy seating on a plush bench with pillows. Dim lighting cast a soft, romantic glow. My dinner low-down: 1. Dim sum appetizer steamed to perfection with succulent, chewy dumpling skin. (CHF 28) 2. Chicken on a hot stone plate was tasty but a bit dry and needed the gooey teriyaki sauce for some moisture. (CHF 34) 3. Side of creamed spinach was rich and creamy, but really salty. (CHF 7) 4. Utterly heavenly rosé champagne and refreshing sweet white wine spritzer. (CHF 12 for the spritzer, and I thought the champagne was 16... but it was probably more like 21?) Something weird after we paid--the waitress followed me to the restroom to ask for CHF 2 because we were short on the bill. ?!?! I couldn't figure out what happened, except perhaps the champagne cost 5 more per glass than we thought? There was only 1 rosé listed on the menu at CHF 16, but we couldn't reconcile to our total bill. Weird. Anyway, a beautiful restaurant with pricy food that was ok but not out-of-this-world. Delicious drinks and a lovely place to hang out with friends.

Yelp
The food here is really REALLY good. The service here is really REALLY good. The price here can get pretty darn HIGH. So, now that you know that, I shall explain the wonderful culinary adventure I was taken on during my time here. My boyfriends Aunt and Uncle took me here for an early dinner. We started with the TAO's Journey (32chf). It included 3 spoonfulls of sashimi (not sure what type of fish) glazed with some oil and peppers. I ate all three because they're not fans of raw fish- lucky me! It also included three servings of beef tar tar atop a toasted baguette, 3 sauteed chicken skewers, 3 tomato and mozzarella skewers, 3 spring rolls, and 3 meatballs. The bites were small, but absolutely delicious. After 2 glasses of prosecco and sharing that, I didn't want too much for an entree, so I decided on the TAO's Chicken salad- small portion (25chf). It said the salad was topped with fried chicken, so I was expecting fried chicken slices. Instead the entire breast was fried first and then cut into pieces. I really loved this because it left a slight crunch on the chicken, but didn't overpower it with having every side breaded. The dressing was delicious, and the outside of the chicken was still crispy but inside was juicy. Underneath was a cooked egg. It was an amazing salad. Somtimes I'm bothered when restaurants charge so much for a small amount of food, and you see this often in Zurich, but what I ate here was delicious, unique, and well worth the money. I was also able to try the Vegetable tagliolini with beef stripes- (38 chf) on a red curry sauce. It was delicious as well, but sometimes it's hard to pay 38chf.

Yelp
I'd heard great things about this place but I have to say I was underwhelmed. The food was ok but just not special. I had the US tenderloin (which was good but tiny) but did come with a large grilled tiger prawn. The nondescript orange sauce that came with it had no taste and felt fatty and grainy. Side dishes of wok veg (overcooked and VERY over salted) and thin cut fries. My friend had salmon with a nice spicy orange chutney with mashed potato Wine was the best, a great Ribero de Duero at 86.00, not so bad for Zürich. But all in all, 277.00 (we had a glass of champagne each first and one desert - Mango salad) is very expensive for just ok food. The chairs BTW are cool, on castors so you can move around easy, but they are so low it's actually uncomfortable to eat and the heating was set so high I had to take my jacket off and loosen my shirt. And finally, if you don't like salty food stay away. The whole meal was very salty and I had to drink a lot of water at home to get rid of it all.

Yelp
A fantastic location, beautiful old house, idyllic garden and modern interior. A place to see and to be seen. The euro-asian dishes are tasty, but slightly overpriced.

Yelp
Nice setting, great food. Service can be slow..depending on time of day.
