The Kirkland Tap & Trotter Review - Cambridge - Boston - The Infatuation

"Google tells us that a trotter is a part of a pig, so it makes sense that this spot on the Cambridge-Somerville border is a great option for grilled meats. The spiced half chicken and swordfish are outstanding, but you’ll be fine with anything that’s been cooked near the fire. The vegetable dishes are well done, too, making this a great, casual spot to hang with friends or bring kids if you have them." - Dan Secatore

The nachos and breakfast burrito were tasty. The Cobb salad was pretty decent too. The mushroom risotto was tasty for a few bites but then it got extremely heavy and impossible to enjoy. It was too full of cream and cheese, and the rice was overcooked. Portion sizes were huge! The place is well decorated, and a good place for lunch/ brunch in general. The vegetarian menu is limited. There was no waiting on a Saturday afternoon

It was a pretty good meal! I came in dine out boston so Súper affordable and great quality. The eggs rolls were bomb! And big portion. The steak tips were delicious as well, I would skip the lava cake it was just fine.

For background, we've come to this place around a dozen times now. We've asked for our burgers to be medium in the past and the meat is still rare to very rare and has made my partner sick twice now. 2 stars is for the food because other than the burgers, the other things we've gotten have been good. I've taken off 3 stars mainly because of service. Some servers have been great, but most seem to not care about how we're doing (no check ins, no water refills, sometimes even the hosts at the door don't look up from their phones until we specifically greet them). Today was the last straw. Our server asked us for our order, one of us ordered a sandwich and a side, and the other two ordered burgers with sides. One person asked for the burger to just have cheese. The server didn't write any of this down nor ask how the burgers should be cooked, walked away then came back and asked us what we ordered again. When we received our order, the burger that was supposed to just have cheese was not modified at all (i.e. she didn't remember our request) and both burgers were very rare. To be fair, maybe we should have remembered to tell her medium, but a good server would also remember to ask how we would like it cooked. She also did not come back and check on us until we were almost done with our food. When we told her we didn't need anything else, she immediately came back with the check. Then when we had to pay, the only option to pay at this restaurant is for the server to stand at your table with a credit card terminal while you are given an option of 20, 22, or 25%, or "customize" tip. We honestly should've customized to give 10% but felt awkward with her hanging around and selected 20%. (Although we feel like this situation deserved 0 tip, we recognize that wages for service workers are abysmal and people need tips to help supplement the earnings.) Basically, I feel like we've given this place enough chances now since there are many other better options in the area. Given the poor service, we won't be back.

Great new spot to watch sports. Walking distance from several hotels in Cambridge. Got the shrimp cocktail which is done Mexican style. Street corn is also a hit. Burger was also good.

I am a local resident and am super excited for Tap 151 to be in our neighborhood. It’s a beautiful space inside and out. But to be fully transparent, my review is limited to only certain days and with certain staff. This review is for Mondays and Tuesdays. It is the most fun atmosphere. After having inconsistent experiences on other days, I will only come on these days now when Kim and Elias are working. Kim, who is the best bartender in the place, she provides a friendly and welcoming experience every time. She makes you feel like you are family and are truly valued. Other patrons have shared the same sentiment, and unfortunately, also that their experience was different on other days when she is not there. I truly hope that owners will consider having the Kim and Elias experience everyday of the week. This should be the standard, not the exception. We all want this establishment to win and to be a steeple in our neighborhood- with that the experience needs to be consistent 7 days a week, not just Mondays and Tuesdays.

Google
A really nice space, lots of bright TVs (maybe too bright?), good viewing of sports. Pretty lights in trees on the walk up. The food was ok, could be better. I had the burrata salad and it was a lot of arugula which was great but kind of dry/lacking salad dressing. It said it had olive oil and if it did it was quite light. The fish and chips were medium. Guacamole was medium.

Google
We had a lot of patience for the crew because we thought the restaurant just opened.. turns out it opened a year ago?! Understaffed, disorganized, slow, and the food didn’t make up for the experience. Unfortunately, we didn’t get photos of the food, but I got a photo of the women’s bathroom at 4pm.

Google
The eggroll, I believe it was the cheesesteak eggroll that was pretty good. I was disappointed with the calamari because there was more Breaded peppers in it then there was calamari. Then finally, my two drinks or not good. My first drink was a Mojito. The taste wasn’t pleasant. Then my second drink was on my Thai and that was very difficult to drink. It tasted like cough syrup. My fiancé got two beers which he liked, but cocktails definitely are not their thing

Yelp
A nice grill and bar tucked away in East Cambridge. My boyfriend and I came here for a drink after dinner and had a nice experience. We sat at the bar and got to watch football on the tv. I ordered the Aphrodite drink which was super tasty and was aesthetically pleasing--there was an orchid flower inside of the ice cube! My boyfriend liked his Caipirinha as well. We didn't get any food this time around but the menu had some good options. Plus we really liked the vibes inside as the decor made it feel really classy and elevated. Our bartender was attentive as well. Located right near Lechmere so accessible by train or 2 hour street parking. They also have a patio with outdoor seating.

Yelp
Cocktails time! Great place to come after work for a quick cocktail! My coworker and I stopped by and there was plenty of nice seating around their beautiful bar! I couldn't resist and ordered a taco plate along with my spicy jalapeno mango margarita! The combo really got the spot! The dish tacos tasted fresh and nice and crunchy. I quickly devourrd them! The margarita was nice and strong and spicy! Very dangerous because I wanted to get more! The bartender was very attentive and made sure our glasses were not empty. I enjoyed the music and ambiance of the place and noticed alot of work groups were starting to gather. This is definitely a trendy spot that offers a variety of drinks and food! Perfect for group meet ups!

Yelp
Very nice addition to Lychmere. Plenty of room at low and high top tables plus a wrap around bar with nice leather stools. TVs everywhere to catch the games with fans of every team in attendance for our visit. Lively sports bar atmosphere with the bartenders getting into the games as well. Fine drink list and good food - nachos, flatbread, and fries was perfect for NFL Sunday. Very welcoming and friendly waitresses. Street parking was non existent but convenient lot with reasonable prices at 2 Canal Park down the street.

Yelp
Tap 151 was a nice experience after a long drive. We walked to the restaurant from our hotel. It was very convenient to the T Green Line, as well. The bar/restaurant has TVs everywhere and I was able to watch the NBA playoffs and a Red Sox game at the same time. I walked in with my family and was seated very quickly. We ordered drinks and our food. All of which came pretty quickly. My daughter is gluten free and ordered the garlic parm wings. They let us know cross contamination was possible but she's ok with it. I ordered the Million Dollar Cheeseburger but subbed the American cheese for cheddar because cheddar is better. It was very good. Fries were about average. I lik3d that their beer list had it listed where each beer was from because I like to make sure in drinking local when I travel. All in all it was great meal. I'd recommend!

Yelp
Just what Cambridge Crossing needed was a local bar to hangout, watch the game, and have a couple of drinks! Food: The food here is definitely better than other bar food but nothing special. They do have really good fries though! Their quesadilla hit the spot after a couple drinks but not my favorite. I had their pesto chicken sandwich and wished it had more pesto. The chicken was really juicy though. Their drinks really steal the show though. Their caiprinha is a must try and they have nitro espresso martini which is also very nice. Service: Very quick service. The servers are also nice. Only thing is they don't bring you water unless you ask. Ambiance: Great music and perfect to go if you want to watch a game.

Yelp
Wonderful tucked away sports bar. Because it's in this nook by Lechmere station, it doesn't seem to get over packed like a tavern-in-sq. I even hesitate to write a review for this spot because lowkey I want to keep this a hidden gem They've got a very healthy draft beer menu, I picked a Pilsner, it was delicious Wife and I got these steak-cheese egg rolls - wonderful twist on an Asian-American classic. Really enjoyed that. And for our meals we shared a burger and fish and chips. Very baseline bar food. The burger was juicy and beautifully charred, the fish and chips were alright, not memorable but not terrible tldr; casual, lowkey sports bar that I'll probably frequent more often during the warmer months since it's close to where I work and where I live. Excellent vibes only because it's so low key

Yelp
New place opened up down the street from my spouses work. Wanted to check it out and it was a beautiful day for a walk. Located in a new apartment complex, they are still completing the finishing touches, mostly outside. Very big space with variety of indoor and soon to be outdoor seating. Many TV's and a large bar. The staff was very friendly and we were seated quickly. The menu offers a variety of options and it was really good. Had the beet salad with chicken and enjoyed it immensely. Not sure when they opened, but so far so good. There is a lot of potential for an incredible neighborhood bar and restaurant. Will go back again and bring friends.

Yelp
We had an event there tonight and the staff were responsive and very helpful. Service was a bit slow but can't blame them for being busy tonight also considering they recently just opened. Probably avoid the popcorn shrimp as it was just disgustingly hard and barely had shrimp. Calamari was so-so but acceptable. It's like a cross between north end calamari and the bar calamari's. Colleagues would rate the truffle rib eyes as 7.5/10. Wild mushroom risotto with steak tips were solid 8.5/10. Staff, ambience and food were exemplary and we'd host our events here again! Oh, cocktails were 10/10

Yelp
We were looking for a place on Thanksgiving that wasn't serving strictly Thanksgiving food and this was the perfect option. Their menu is extensive and there are so many options to choose from. I really loved everything I ordered, especially the drink. I also loved the aesthetics and the interior of the restaurant. It had a sport's bar element to it, but it was still very elegant and clean. Our waiter was so kind and helpful. This place saved the day for us and we were all glad to be there.

Yelp
My daughter got married last weekend and we were staying at the Fairfield Marriott in Cambridge and needed a place to have 9 of my family have dinner. We were able to easily make reservations online and Tap 151 got back to us right away. Our waiter was terrific navigating allergies and picky food preferences. The best thing about Tap 151 is their large menu so there was something for everyone. From burgers to salads to mango salmon with mashed potatoes (my order) everything was delicious. We enjoyed our time at Tap 151 so much a bunch of us showed up there after the wedding and again the staff was top notch as they helped us push table together in the bar and got everyone's drink and food order correct. Highly recommend!

Yelp
After waiting an hour and a half for my brunch order they brought me a breakfast sandwich and forgot the egg....... You have to be kidding me right now

Yelp
Had a great late night dinner in Cambridge. They have a nice beer selection and the sandwiches were good too.

Yelp
Great pretzels with sea salt and short rib quesadillas! The dip for the pretzels was super good and the horseradish went really well with the short rib. Nice place, clean, friendly. We will be back for more.

Yelp
The food at Tap 151 Bar & Grill is good, and the atmosphere is stunning. When I came for dinner with some friends, we all had great meals: especially burgers and wings. Service was a tad slow during rush hour, but polite nonetheless. They served reasonably priced drinks, and music just added to a laid-back vibe. I'm definitely going for another relaxing evening.

Yelp
Had beer after Friday work here at recently opened bar. Choices of beer are great and I had blue moon, which was good. I only had nacho for the food but next time I'll try other menu. Service was great. Convenient location.

Yelp
Tap 151 opened this week at the new Cambridge Crossing mixed use development near the Lechmere MBTA Green Line station. This gastropub and sports bar offers a lively modern casual atmosphere with plenty of flatscreen TVs throughout and upbeat dance music pumping over the speakers. They have table seating, booth seating, high top tables and seating up at the U shaped full service bar. The bar drink menu offers 13 draft beers, bottled beers, wine list, mixed drinks, cocktails, mocktails and non-alcoholic drinks. The food menu offers a good variety including starters, flatbreads, chicken wings, chicken tenders, burgers/sandwiches with fries, salads, tacos, chowder, French onion soup, main entrees (short rib, shrimp scampi, steak tips, truffle ribeye, fish & chips, grilled salmon, pasta), and desserts. The pricing is moderate here. I stopped by on their second night of business for dinner. I found a seat up at the bar and the bartender brought over big two-sided menu with food & drinks choices. I got an ice water and placed my order for Crispy Calamari ($16 plus tax) and Mac + Cheese Entree ($16 plus tax) with Short Rib (add $4 plus tax), which both came out together in 10 minutes after ordering. The portions were both good sized. The appetizer was comprised of breaded fried calamari rings & tentacles, fried breaded hot peppers and tartar sauce for dipping & a lemon wedge. The mac + cheese in a bowl was very creamy and smooth with soft radiatore pasta and topped with plenty of lean tender shredded short rib. The mac + cheese was very good and it was like the version I've had at home with heavy cream in the cheese sauce. I also got a box for half of the mac & cheese to eat later on. They also offer a side option for mac + cheese for $8. I declined dessert, with choices of chocolate lava cake, espresso creme brulee, tiramisu. and NY cheesecake since I had enough food for the evening. The check was $38.52 with tax and before tip. Overall, my expectations of Tap 151 were at exceeded with tasty food, good portions, and fair pricing for the busy area near Cambridgeside. I would definitely stop in again for dinner, likely before a concert or event nearby.

Yelp
Kinda overpriced American food but it's a cool spot to watch sports games and music was good. Would go again but try something else.

Yelp
I could have gotten this food anywhere. I wanted authentic Boston fare. This is not the place.

Yelp

Yelp
Food was good. Service was really good to. We had a bar tender that was really good. Drinks spot on. Went there for dinner with my niece as she recommended.

Lisa W.

Yelp
Great sports bar! Service excellent! Food Great! Mexican street corn was STELLAR!! Salmon was great as well as chicken tacos and Truffle fries!

Richard O.

Yelp
The service was really bad, it took nearly 30 minutes to put a drink order in another 30-45 minutes to get those drinks to the point where some people at the table went to the bar to get a drink and were able to close out while we still waited for our first drinks to arrive at the table. When we got our drinks some of them had started to curdle/separate from clearly being left on the bar for so long. For this whole first hour we never got the water we repeatedly asked for. We finally got our food order in since no was coming by most of the time we were seated. It then took another hour and half for our food to come out with a bunch of mistakes, not all at once, some cold. The food was just fine, but what supposed to be a normal meal took over 3 hours for 1 drink and just entrees to arrive. The restaurant seemed to be poorly staffed to manage even just a normal lunch rush, but also there is seemed to be no urgency, no hospitality, and the only response we got was a free round of drinks after half our table had to leave since they had not planned on being here for almost 4 hours. I understand things get busy and I don't usually write negative reviews, but this was so strange and so bad that I felt I needed to give the heads up. I would avoid this location if you are in a rush.

Yelp
This place is your typical upscale bar and grill. Inside is very nice and there's a friendly vibe. Lots of TVs tuned to a variety of sports things. Went twice with my wife (our hotel was next door) and food was underwhelming each time. Burgers were fine but nothing special. Tacos had lots of mayo. Salads were fresh but a little skimpy on toppings. Service was attentive and friendly. Food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. I'm sure this a great place to grab a beer and some sweet potato fries (the best thing we ate).

Chris L.

Yelp
Literally just left. The atmosphere is awesome, tons of TVs wont miss any games Definitely try the buffalo chicken dip and steak tips! Only downside was service although very friendly was a bit slow not ideal if you're having a few drinks with the games. Hopefully they'll show UFC & WWE would be a fantastic spot

JD P.

Yelp
Nice restaurant and delicious food. The fried pickle chips and Buffalo mac and cheese are delicious. Can't go wrong.

Kate P.

Yelp
After a long day of travel, we decided to check out Tap 151 for dinner and it did not disappoint. Short ribs, mashed potatoes and asparagus were delicious! Didn't even need a knife for the short ribs and our server was outstanding!

Katie B.

Yelp
Been here a few times and always have a great experience. Food is awesome, service is great, and cool vibes with lots of TVs.

Yelp
Just opened and it's wonderful!! We ate salad, clam chowder, steak tips and chicken tenders

Yelp
Food was great. The restaurant itself has a great vibe. Convenient location just off the Lechmere Green Line station.

Yelp
Good food, beer taps are clean, cold glasses for your beer, tv screens everywhere. The staff our on point.

Yelp
Finally we have a place where you can hang out in this area, and they are actually open for lunch!! Food was very good and fresh and the menu is diverse, excellent addition to the neighborhood

Yelp
ALL WORKERS ARE AMAZING!!!only the manager is a weirdo...last week had a raw burger and manager ignored us never came by to say anything and as we left ignored us a second time...today we came by for drinks and he is literally the most moody sad looking manager no way should he be in this position...the face of the bar/restaurant is the manager he is absolutely TERRIBLE!!!
