West Campus Sports Bar Tap 24 Is Now Closed | Eater Austin

"With its last day of service on Monday, June 11, the West Campus sports bar at 1004 West 24th Street that had been Tap 24 is now closed; it was popular for watching soccer games and the World Cup was coming up, but manager Cassidy Mora said the timing made sense because its TABC permit was set to expire and owner Cuatro Kowalski chose not to renew and plans to sell the 24th Street bar. Kowalski originally opened the spot as Cuatro’s in 2008, closed it in December 2013 for a revamp, and relaunched it as Tap 24 for the World Cup in June 2014." - Nadia Chaudhury

We were looking for a sports bar in Media area to watch Eagles game while having lunch with big group of friends. Tap 24 was the one that had dining area right in front of the entrance with huge large glass window, so we were able to enjoy the beautiful summer day while dining. The dining space was not as big as regular restaurants, few tables in front for larger groups and smaller ones were further inside across the bar. The bar huge though where most people hung out. They also had a game viewing area in the back. But though out the place there were several TVs that had the game on. The menu had plenty of popular American style dishes. I got to try the chicken wings and mussels for appetizers. Both were excellent. My friends loved their sandwiches and salmon dishes as well. All the dishes were served within a short wait time. The bartender was serving our table as well. He did really good job. We had a wonderful time hanging out with everyone while dining and watching the game.

Great pub restaurant at downtown Media. Very buzzing and vibrant from the football crowd. Love the energy in there. We were semi-self service in the restaurant because it was only 1 person working in the front. I felt really bad for him. He took sometime to order and brought the food out. Nevertheless the food was good. The mussels were flavorful. The sauce was white-wine base. Very unique. It came with the garlic bread on the side. I highly recommend to try. The wings are tender and juicy inside, good texture, not dry. Many tables and seats inside. Bathroom is ok. Street parking. Overall a good place to watch sports and get rowdy with tasty food.

Google
Great little sports pub in the center of Media. Nice selection of beers from all over including some local breweries. Food is always very good and this place has some of the best wings I've had in the area.

Google
I absolutely love this place. It is an amazing find. The food is incredible and the prices are good. I have tried their fried chicken sandwich, Cuban sandwich, and a steak special sandwich. I can't say enough about the taste of the food. The chicken is tender, juicy, crispy, and delicious. I love their Poutine Tater Tots. They put beer cheese and gravy with pieces of steak meat on the tots. The staff is very friendly. I do recommend sitting at the bar, if you are in a time crunch.

Great food, Great service, super clean venue. Great for game day. Will be back again and again

Google
Different cheesesteak #1104 in the last five years. Special Wednesday addition of drinks and cheesesteaks with Amigo Dan. Tap 24 you broke my heart. They make their own beer cheese. It was creamy but I think it needs more flavor. I liked it on my tots. It got lost on the cheesesteak. The cheesesteak. Sorry, we didn’t like it. We like to be specific when we don’t like something. You’ll see in the full video Amigo Dan is trying hard to find what he doesn’t like. The best we could come up with is the meat/meat flavor was the problem. $13.95 and it came with tots. You know I love that. I would love it even more if I didn’t get the $1 fried onions.

Google
Been a few times during football/baseball and basketball games and it’s always a vibe. Everyone is so respectful and us all as sports fans have a ball together. Even on a chill weekday summer evening here is still pleasant. All the waiters we had have always been accommodating and so nice. Willing to do their best to cater to my husband’s allergies to certain things too. And the prices are affordable on everything. Food is always fresh. The kitchen staff is a1 too. I’m addicted to their chipotle honey wings 🤤This is our go to spot in media. Definitely recommend.

Google
Great bar and even greater food. The menu never disappoints with well prepared, consistent and delicious food. Try the nachos and burgers! Their beer selection is varied with a lot of local options. They always have a few good drink specials and a specialty cocktails. Great pub vibe and friendly staff. This is our favorite place to watch Union games!

Yelp
Not as good as it used to be. Inattentive bartender last time we went there. The whole vibe of a place can change based on how well the staff are trained and/or supervised.

Yelp
I'm so sad I didn't get a picture before our table devoured the Mac N Cheese. Please try it, you won't be disappointed! Kelsie was an excellent bartender and made good recommendations, she also made really good cocktails!

Yelp
let me paint you my experienc: You stroll into Tap 24, the buzz of conversation and clinking glasses filling the air. The bartender, James, catches your eye with a knowing smile as you approach the polished wooden bar. His dark hair is tousled just so, his eyes sparkling with a hint of mischief. You lean in slightly, your voice low yet full of intent as you order a classic martini, shaken, not stirred. James nods, his hands deftly moving to fetch the ingredients. As he prepares your drink, you notice his strong, capable hands working the shaker with a practiced ease, each movement deliberate and confident. The dim lighting casts shadows that play on his chiseled features, emphasizing the subtle stubble along his jawline. His gaze meets yours again as he pours the icy liquid into a chilled martini glass, the condensation glistening invitingly. You take a sip, the coldness of the martini sending a shiver down your spine. James watches you intently, his lips curving into a faint smile that suggests he knows exactly what you're thinking. The air between you crackles with a charged tension, a silent understanding lingering in the air. As you finish your drink, James leans in closer, his voice a velvety whisper as he asks if you'd like another. His breath grazes your ear, sending a thrill through you that's as intoxicating as the martini itself. You nod slowly, your pulse quickening with anticipation. This encounter, though simple on the surface, carries an undeniable allure--a subtle dance of desire and indulgence that promises more than just another round at Tap 24.

Yelp
Great place to watch Philly sports! Full bar with 24 beer taps, and surprisingly decent wine choices. Menu is limited, but everything on it is delicious. They often have happy hour and game time food specials with additional items. Staff is friendly and fun. Prices are appropriate for the convenient location right in the heart of Media.

Yelp
The worst Cobb salad I've ever had. The lettuce was soggy and smooshed together with very little ingredients. They charged 14.95$ For a small bowl of old lettuce. The view from our table was nice. We sat outside on a beautiful evening. Don't waste your money at this place. Food was terrible.

Yelp
This place is just okay. We ordered some chipotle honey glazed chicken and they tasted like standard chicken strips, no flavor really to speak of. I ordered a double burger and it too was very mediocre. Nothing special, just an average cheeseburger. Surprisingly our favorite item was the tater tots that came with the burger. They were crispy and cooked perfectly. I also ordered a Miami Vice cocktail, but it was overly sweet and tasted strangely like cough syrup. Not what you want in a cocktail. We left full, but I'm okay if I never go back.

Yelp
I've now eaten at Tap24 twice and both times have been a great experience. The first time I ordered a grilled cheese and tater tots and it was delicious. Last week I ordered a special food item that was a shrimp and broccoli egg roll. It was very filling and I left satisfied. The bartender during the Friday lunch shifts is great, very attentive and quick to serve. I've told multiple friends and coworkers to stop in and I know I'll be back again soon!

Yelp
Well, I have some history here at this joint when it was Picasso. With the renovations complete, a whole new vibe has taken over. SPORTS BAR. Matt (fabulous bartender) pours a great drink. The new menu has a few familiar items but the new additions set this place apart from most other kitchens in town. Highly recommended are the Bourbon Fried Chicken dishes. The recommendation came from staff BUT, they're former colleagues and friends. NO WAY they would steer ME wrong. Lol. I wasn't too hungry so I sampled the Potato Tots Pontaine (beef gravy over crispy tots with cheese) served in a skillet and really DELISH. Clean. Nice prices. Decent portions. Good flavor. Friendly crew. The decor is a mix of Urban Rodeo and hoe-down chic...with the faux flannel plaid uniform shirts...and big screen TVs with sports from different channels. Neighborhood crowd with "trendy" in the mix. Fun place. The service was dag-gum great. Lol. Yee-Haw!

Yelp
The WORST staff ever. I decided to give them a second chance after taking over an hour to return to my table after I asked if I could order food. They did this a SECOND time. If you are hungry do NOT go here.

Yelp
I haven't visited Media in over 2 years and was totally intrigued by this neat little bar/ restaurant. The place has a sprinkle of a speakeasy vibe. If the bartenders had beards and tatted sleeves, it'd totally be a typical fancy hipster bar

Yelp
I'm a fan of one of the newest spots on the Media strip. Popped in for a drink on a Wednesday night with a friend and was impressed with the tap list, the milieu and the vibe. Service was fast, friendly and not at all deuschy - quick with a recommendation and a sample. Excellent and rapidly changing list of craft brews, and a solid bottle selection. On multiple visits subsequently I have enjoyed several of the appetizers and never been disappointed. It isn't the most extensive menu but it is solid pub grub and it is a great place to watch a game or catch a cool, neighborhood vibe. With both bar and regular seating, there are plenty of options available, and it is a solid spot for Media people watching and for hanging out. Prices are right, this place is a great addition to the scene! Looking forward to my next visit!

Yelp
My new favorite bar / restaurant in Media! I've been waiting years for a place that combined 1) an enjoyable friendly atmosphere, 2) a great craft beer selection, 3) quality bar food, 4) nice large TVs for watching sports and, 5) great staff . This is the first place in downtown Media to nail all five. Other places on State Street like Brick-n-Brew and Iron Hill get four of the five right in my opinion, but they lack enough large TVs for watching for watching sports. At Tap 24, no matter where you are seated, you will have good sight lines to a large HD TV. That is not to say the place is dominated by TV screens, but they have them in the right spots. As of this writing Tap 24 has only been open for a couple of weeks, but I've had the opportunity to visit four times. I have not tried everything on the menu, but what I have had has been very good. Especially the fried chicken platter. It was cooked perfectly with a crispy outside and a juicy inside. It came with a side of mac-n-cheese and potato salad that were also both excellent. With 24 beers on tap plus others in cans and bottles, you will be hard pressed to not find something you like (assuming you like good beer). I'm a fan of IPAs and have not been disappointed with their selection. But, even if you don't like good beer, they also have Miller Light and Yuengling Lager on tap and Michelob Ultra and Corona Light in bottles. The service has been perfect each time I've been there. You can tell they put some effort into hiring quality people and training them properly. Everyone has been very friendly. I love the way the place looks and feels inside. They really did a great job with the rustic / industrial design. The lighting is perfect, not too bright, not too dark. Each time I've been there they have had music on at a loud (in a good way), but appropriate level. When the Eagles have been playing, they turn up the volume on the game so you can hear the announcers. All of this give the place a very lively feel. If I imagined my perfect bar, Tap 24 is what it would be and I'm glad to have it in Media, PA!

Yelp
My wife and I checked out Tap 24 yesterday for lunch and had a great experience. The place looks amazing following the renovation. The bar is very long with tons of space to sit, but there are tables as well that looked cozy enough. The beer selection was outstanding, as was the menu. We had the chipotle chicken wings. Sweet with some heat and the perfect cook on the wings. Good bite. We also split the tater tot poutine, which was also delicious. As far as service is concerned, our bartender, Dom, was friendly and professional. He walked us through the beers, the bar, the menu and some backstory about the renovation and recent opening. Great service like that really makes the experience. With several large TVs, it seems like it might be the best bar in Media to take in a game. We hope to be up again soon for some football games this season.

Yelp
Really cool bar with an amazing beer section! It was pretty crowded by 5:30 on a Saturday, which was rather surprising. All the bars in the area were packed and it was the only place we could grab seating at. I'm glad we ended up here because it was an exciting place to be on the weekend. Prices were fairly decent for media and the quality definitely reflected that. We all got craft beers because there were options not normally found at local bars. We also got some small bites to share while drinking. The Mac and cheese is in a small skillet and easy to eat alone or share with someone else. The cheesesteak egg rolls were new and a perfect bar classic! The food smelled awesome so I would definitely come back to try some.

Sam C.

Yelp
The waitress spilled my beer flight all over me, the table, and the floor. It's fine, accidents happen. I was brought new beers. However, you'd think since the pants and shoes that were ruined cost me more than the beers that they could have at least taken the cost of the flight off the bill? Just a nice gesture of hey, we got this round, our bad, would have been appreciated.

Yelp
Great sports bar in Media. I went there to watch the FIFA women's World Cup. We were the first to arrive and sat at the bar. Multiple groups trickled in throughout the match. The atmosphere was great and the bartender was very helpful. We each had a draft beer and ordered some food. The food was delicious, I had the blackened salmon sandwich with tots, a definite recommendation. I will come back to watch a game and have some drinks with food again.

Debra T.

Yelp
Great Happy Hour specials. Good selection of beers on tap. It tends to be noisy which is tough when you want to have a conversation. They open the front in nice weather and that is fabulous. They make a great tots poutine. The service could be improved .
google avatar

Katrina C.

Yelp
I was visiting Media to see a friend, and we had lunch here. I liked the beer selection (24 on tap if you didn't catch on to that). I had the cobb salad which was awesome and filling, but my friends Cubano looked really good. The service was not stellar (either came too often or didn't come back), but I would come back!

Beth E.

Yelp
This place SUCKS!!!!, The bartender/waitress was it on her computer when we walked in waited 10 minutes for her to come to and we sat at the bar the pork was horrible they said there was cheese on it no cheese barbecue sauce smother the pork very salty very greasy then she was on her phone doing God knows what . Had to ask for utensils had to ask for napkins the bar with sticky dirty like someone just got done eating and she didn't clean it up beautiful Thursday night and the place was completely empty that should've told me something never again , we didn't eat all of our food you would think that she would ask was everything OK. Then she asked if we wanted a box for our food to go we're like hell no I won't feed this to my dog save your money and go down the street Pinocchios great service clean good price food the staff there is unbelievable. Tap 24 needs to tap out

Yelp
Best gastropub in Media! Great service and beer selection, and really good food despite the limited menu. Be sure get the chocolate mousse after dinner!

Yelp
Last night was the last time I had ever gone here, my husband and I had went to meet up with some friends at the bar. terrible service wouldn't even begin to cover it. We we're there for about 2 hours and we never received any assistance from the any of the bartenders. Even though it was a Saturday night it did not appear to be super busy and yet we never were asked if we needed anything. His friends had a tab that they had been trying to pay for an hour and a half. We finally got help by one of the servers passing by who brought us our drinks but told us to go through the bartender if we wanted to keep sitting there. There was a wide selection of beers to try, but we only ever got that one drink. Definitely won't be returning.

Yelp
Always very good specials on food and drinks. Ever changing sauces on wings. Good atmosphere. Good service. Low key, casual. Great place to watch whatever games are on. It's cool, cool, cool.

Yelp
This was my first time at this establishment and I must say I am extremely disappointed. We were here on a crowded day and were confronted by a bar manager named Matt. (Mean matt). He yelled at us very rudely to not use an extra stool at our table. It was a justified comment but he could have asked nicely but instead chose to make it a confrontation-- yelling at us calling us liars and telling us to get out of here. We could have easily sat there for several more hours spending hundreds more but were forced to leave after how he rudely spoke to us. Mean matt ruined our whole afternoon as we had to leave on principal after that. I refuse to let someone speak to me like that and then continue to give money to the establishment. I will never return to this place as Media has many other bars to spend my money and time.
google avatar

Tim K.

Yelp
Tap 24 was great. Had an awesome Cuban sandwich and the wide variety of craft beers can cater to a lot of people. The bartender was great however I didn't get his name. The only reason why it was 5 stars was because it was a Monday and there were only two people in there so they had time to pay attention to detail. I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Rudi S.

Yelp
Food was only okay, it was cold when it got to our table, and they didn't have any beers on tap when I went in which made me upset because it's called Tap 24. But, we did sit in the dining section and our waitress was really sweet, so silver lining I guess.
google avatar

Oliver P.

Yelp
The beer selection was great, but I thought the food was only so so. My medium burger was very well done and kind of flavorless, even though it has barbecue sauce on it. My son liked his pulled pork sandwich. He's a big fan of pulled pork, so that's probably an endorsement from him. Service was a little slow in getting our order placed and our beer delivered, but the food come quickly.

Yelp
Check out epl ( English premier league ) Saturday's starting at 7:30 am and Sunday's starting at 8:30 am - beer , breakfast and epl. Yum!

Yelp
Great new spot downtown to grab a drink. Comfortable, laid back bar with plenty of tvs for watching the game. Good selection of beers and drinks. The apples to apples is tasty! Looking forward to going back and trying the food !
google avatar

RJ M.

Yelp
The service here is really good. You seat yourself. I went with my boyfriend and we love tots so we tried their poutine, loaded tots, and a sandwich. The food is really good. Their dark beers are really good. My only complaint is that it's very pricey for the type of food. I just don't know if I place a $10 value on a small serving of tots.
google avatar

Mandy D.

Yelp
This place is a welcome addition to Media. I've been here a few times: once for lunch, once for drinks, and once for dinner. On the weekends, the bar gets pretty crowded but it's worth it if you can find a seat. Their food was really good. Your standard bar fare, fried chicken sandwiches, grilled cheeses, but they also had a really good salad that I might have to come back for soon. It's a Cobb salad with spring mix and their fried chicken with a ranch dressing. Very tasty! They share the same kitchen as La Belle Époque, so you know their food is going to be solid. As someone who unfortunately can't drink until my jelly bean arrives in February, I haven't had too much experience with their drinks, but based on their name and P.'s opinion, stick with the beer on tap. The cocktails, while they sounded enticing, were just so so. I'll be back for another salad or maybe just the full on fried chicken. This momma to be needs to eat!

Dave P.

Yelp
Great food, great drink, even better service. Glen was awesome, recommended some great food and beers. I will be back for sure!

Yelp
Had dinner here last evening around 530 with the family. Sat in the back where the regular tables are ( front bar area has high tops). It was still pretty loud for this time of day and being out of the main area of bar. Beer list was great a good mix of ales, ipa's, darks and sours). Server was very good. The menu is small which is ok but i thought the food was average. We had the both shared the cheese steak egg rolls which were good and the both had the Pablo burger and thought it was average for a pub burger. I am told the kids grilled cheese was " good". I would give it another shot someday at the bar area.

Nerine S.

Yelp
It's a cool space, but some of the food seems a little bit pricey for Media. The service was also really strange...maybe our server was just trying to be attentive, but she came up to our label every 10-15 minutes. No exaggeration whatsoever. It felt like she was trying to get us to hurry up and leave or something and just made it a little uncomfortable. Again, maybe she was just trying to be helpful, but regardless, I felt like I couldn't relax when she came up to our table soooo many times. I would go back but I might not go out of my way to choose here when there are a lot of other options in Media.

Tobi O.

Yelp
It was awesome service there & a very welcome place to eat and drink. Also, even on busy night like Dining Under The Stars it was fanatic!!!

Anthony S.

Yelp
Great spot for after work. I came here for the first time with a friend from the area and was greeted warmly by the bartender, Glen. He introduced himself, shook our hands, and immediately made us feel welcome. Very knowledgeable about the beer selection and made a fantastic recommendation. Attentive and friendly. I'd certainly come back and enjoy a beer here.

B J.

Yelp
I stopped in for a quick beer while waiting for carry out from another establishment. Nice layout and plenty of TV's. Friendly staff and good selection of beers on tap and bottles.

Brett M.

Yelp
A great sports bar with a solid beer list and great bar tenders. The happy hour menu is one of the best I've seen in Media. I would recommend the fried chicken platter or fried chicken sandwich.
