"The market’s speedy demise is the restaurant group’s second closure in the past month. Their 15-month-old Tapabar in Bethesda shuttered at the end of 2017 also due to sluggish sales." - Tierney Plumb

The appetizer was very good , drinks were ok yet the customer service wasn't good as the bar tender was not welcoming and felt that we were not welcome :(

Excellent, authentic Spanish fare, at a reasonable price. I might rank it $$ vs $, but you could definitely get out for under $50 for a couple if you tried. The gazpacho and tortilla are as close to home cooking as I've had, and their house made sausages are excellent. Service was top notch, friendly, and helpful. There are quite a few vegetarian and even vegan options, but the main highlights are definitely not in those categories. Their gin cocktails are a refreshing and welcome addition. You'd never guess this place has only been open for around a month, considering how smoothly it all went, from seating, to ordering, to the perfect pacing and preparation of the dishes. A welcome addition to the relatively boring Bethesda restaurant scene, and otherwise crowded tapas genre.

Such a cute and warm place! Awesome open and modern design, with plants on the wall, reclaimed wood and stone. The bar tender was super friendly right the second I sat down at the bar. They gave me a free taste of their glazed "donut holes" - the part their donut shop next door - 202 Donuts - cuts out from the donuts they sell - who knew you could "reuse" those haha! The manager Mike was super friendly and warm too, and gave me a taste of their Italian espresso, delicious! I had the Spanish tortilla, which I thought was a big serve for its price, and it was delicious! I really enjoyed my short time there, will definitely come back to try their dinner menu!

My wife and I have lived in Bethesda / Chevy Chase area for 20 plus years and love eating out. We have tried just about all the restaurants in the area and love many of them. We look for good drinks ( in the right glassware), great service, new interesting and exciting food experience. Tonight for the first time we tried the TapaBar.......OMG we were so impressed. The best Tapas we have ever had. The Spanish Wine recommended was a 10. To me personally what was amazing was that with a full house of customers, the entire staff was so calm and accommodating. Every bite of every dish was an awesome experience. We are so very much excited to have found a new place to go to. Great job Tapabar. We wish you much success and will definitely see you again soon.

The service, food, and price was absolutely great! They didn't have a kids menu, but without hesitation offered to make a grilled cheese for my niece. They also served it with a surplus of fries. The staff was very personable and friendly. I can't wait to go back! I definitely recommend paying a visit.

Lovely evening to sit outside! Knowledgeable staff, great food: wine was a good match for the short ribs and everything else we ate. Dessert was a small chocolate fig cake with a small scoop of very rich ice cream - wow! Owner/manager very personable, interested in customers without being intrusive. We look forward to going back!

This place was amazing. My wife and I just moved into the area, and this was literally the first restaurant we went to in Bethesda. From the beginning, Mike the general manager made us feel extremely welcome and comfortable. Eddie was our server, and while he was a bit serious, he warmed up over the time we were there and ended up being very friendly. The service was quick and attentive and we never had to wait for anything. Now for the food... we came here for their happy hour and all the food was INCREDIBLE! We got the marinated olives, the spanish omelet with smoky aioli, and two orders of the Pan Tumaca with serrano and manchego. We started off with one order of the Pan Tumaca but wow was that thing delicious so we had to order another. The spanish omelet was almost like a potato egg quiche and was very good. The olives were nice and salty with a great flavor to them. We also got some great spanish beer (Mahou) and my wife had a delicious Sangria that was very fruity and tasty. We were very impressed with the food and the drinks, but we'll come back for the people. Thank you Mike and Eddie (and the food runner guy who was so friendly) for making this a great first experience. We'll definitely be back for their awesome looking brunch menu, and lunch since we work in the area.

Excellent food and service. The beef tartar with quail egg, and octopus entree were incredible. We split 4 appetizers, one entree, and desert between 3 people which was perfect. Will certainly return.
