This is Mexican food you wish your mama made!
The tamales no joke! The flavors are big and bold; the sauce has that special something that I can't quite put my finger on - maybe abuela's love? All I can tell you is that the last time I had tamales this delicious, they were made, not only by my almost Mexican grandma but also a successful restaurant owner and chef. I take tamales very personally, and these went straight to my heart.
The burritos ate big-time and scrumptious, too, according to my mom (grilled chicken) and husband (carne asada). "Have you seen the size of this burrito?" My mom was shocked, and they were just as big in flavor.
One more observation - the refried beans are fire! Even reheated the following and the next day, they taste as if they were freshly made. I've been back just to get them!
There are self-serve chips and salsa bar; these are great before, during, and after your meal (leftovers).
The building is small, just like any good mom-and-pop shop, and it's next door to a motel. So, if you're not looking closely, you might miss it. There's picnic-type seating outside and a few tables inside. And yes, there is disabled parking in front of the building without stairs.
This is a definite must stop, whether you're a local or just visiting. Enjoy!
