This place is phenomenal!!! It is small and snug but totally worthy checking out! Everyone was nice and they are super busy. Make reservations. Otherwise it might be hard to get in. Literally everything we tried was amazing. The sangria cava was not overly sweet and made just right. The pork ribs and burger had to be our favorites but everything was hit for us. We will be back to try the rest of the menu!!

Delicious and interesting Tapas with friendly waiters! We loved food, especially the fact that they are not typical but interesting. Sangria was a bit sweet for our taste. The best was pork ribs and salmon with potato. Highly recommended :)

Great spot for dinner. Went with family who have lived in Barcelona for 3 years, and they said these are the best tapas they’ve had since moving here. Would especially recommend the octopus, burger, and bravas, although everything we had on the menu was good!

SerpAPI
Amazing place for tapas. It is worth going in 4, to get to try everything. If you show up around noon or before 19:00, you might not need to book a table. They speak English and take cards. Good service and tasty food.

The menu seems Spanish fusion Japanese . Excellent food, great service and extraordinary food design. The food were exposure of flavors. The restaurant is quite small so there is not room for big parties. One better also books in advance to avoid staying in queue.

3.5 stars. The dishes worth ordering were the sausage/ mushroom cannelloni and pork ribs and for desserts, the Catalan cream foam.. don't order the vegetables and mushrooms - bad. The sangria was very diluted. I would give it 4 stars if not for the rude waiter. Pretty pricey for the quality of food too

Absolutely stunning of a place. Food was delicious and the service exceptional. We'd finish our first plate and the next would immediately arrive! Definitely make a reservation -- small seating space

This was an amazing experience from A to Z, everything was delicious, the tapas are so unique the pork ribs sauce delicious, the canelonis (I wanted to re order right away) and every the chocolate cream with salt and oil is great. Overall a great tapas experience, would definitely come back.

Yelp
Really great small tapas place, that is pretty affordable in my opinion for the quality. You could make reservations in advance, although there seemed to be tables available on Friday around 1pm. If you're a couple, I recommend bar seating as the seated tables are a bit cramped and against the wall. Standouts were patatas Bravas, 100% beef burger, and beef tenderloin. The patatas was fried well. The beef burger was nicely salted and went well with the foie gras. Beef tenderloin was fairly soft and potatoes were very thinly sliced.

Yelp
We went back 3 times during our trip!!! It was absolutely amazing. Some of the best food Ive had thus far. The ceviche itself was mind blowing, I would highly recommend trying this! The service was on and off but towards our last visit they warmed up to us. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu (they've been in business for 15 years so I am hopeful they will still be there when I go back to Barcelona) ¡Fuimos de regreso 3 veces durante nuestro viaje!!!

Yelp
I'm picky about food. I've definitely noticed that there are places getting high marks in Spain and Portugal on various rating platforms that were just okay for me. Food tastes can vary, so maybe I need to find the foodies who share mine. Regardless, since I was on vacation, I didn't plan to review the places we ate, but I have to do one for Tapeo. It's a small place, so it's tough to get in at the busier times. They do make reservations. The service was extremely attentive (you'll have a server, but everyone helps out). Normally when traveling, we try many places, but we loved what we had so much that we actually ate here three times (I'm a little embarrassed to admit that). I did not get pictures of everything, but we liked everything we ate here. In our three weeks in Spain and Portugal, we ate a lot of good food, but were also sometimes disappointed by highly reviewed places (we don't usually go to the really expensive places, so I'm sure there are some great options that we tend to miss due to prices). I did not find a place that I liked more on this trip. My favorites overall were the roasted lamb and the roasted aubergine (eggplant) with honey and lime. The bread with tomato was also a delicious start to several meals. Tapeo is a delicious way to celebrate Spanish cuisine in Barcelona.

Yelp
Hands down BEST RESTAURANT we visited in Spain (Barcelona and Madrid). Went there three times in 2 weeks. Only place we went to more than once. Every single dish was an experience and the best version of that dish that we had had on our entire trip. Please do yourself a favor and make time to come here. The place is small and it gets busy fast so we made it a point to go before 6 PM for dinner since we didn't mind (we're American and eat early anyways) in that way we didn't have to wait in line or feel cramped in the small space.

Yelp
Out of our 8 days stay in Barcelona, this will be the meal we dream of. We had to visit 2 times because we could NOT stop thinking about these dishes. The Iberico ribs were to die for. 1000/10. The glaze was sweet and tiny bit of tang from the mustard was perfect. The potatoes.... HOW?? It was so crispy and soft in the inside. We tried patatas bravas at many places. None beat these. The aioli was divine, slight heat from the pepper sauce. Chefs kiss. The asparagus tempura was nothing exotic but why was it the most delicious thing ever. With all the strong flavors of the other dishes, the asparagus was a perfect pair. Light, crispy, and just the right amount of crunch and softness. All the other dishes were delicious. I can't wait to come visit again!

Yelp
I really enjoyed my meal at Tapeo. I made reservations for Saturday lunch at 1:30 for 2 people and was seated promptly when we arrived. I think they were taking some walk-in groups but for later, as I heard the bartender tell someone to come back in an hour. The restaurant is long and narrow. Most seating in the front is high tops or at the bar. It's bigger than I thought it was, with additional booth seating in the back. We started out sharing a half pitcher of sangria for 10€, which was about one cup per person. It's on the strong side here; you can definitely taste the wine. Most of the food menu centers around various tapas dishes, including some Catalonian dishes. The menu is meat heavy but does have limited vegetarian options as well. We ordered three tapas: Yakisoba de verduritas / vegetable yakisoba (12€) - this was pretty standard Meloso de ternera con tuetano asado / sweet veal with roasted marrow (18€) - I loved every single bite of this dish. The veal was melt in your mouth tender and paired perfectly with the marrow. Conejo con caracoles / grilled boneless rabbit with snails (14€) - I wanted to try a Catalonian dish and this sounded really interesting, so I got it. Essentially it's ground rabbit meat served with snails on top. I couldn't really tell it was rabbit meat, but it was quite tasty!

Yelp
My niece and I are on a european whirlwind trip that started in Barcelona today. She found Tapeo looking at TikTok. We walked in and immediately notice the charm. This is a small restaurant with bars eating for around 8 and table wearing for around 20. We were there for an hour and a half and were not rushed at all. We started with burrata with tomatoes, the burrata was creamy and now and then you'd hit some flaked salt and wow. The bombeta - which they are known for, it did not disappoint! Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. Then we moved on to the beef tenderloin with truffle sauce. The tenderloin was on top of what we think were really tender thinly sliced potato. Then the cuttlefish pasta came out. This is a large dish, multiple people can enjoy it. The noodles were tender, the ink made a flavorful sauce and the small pieces of cuttlefish were tender. It came with an aioli that added some nice depth to the fish. Finally, I couldn't leave without trying the meat stuffed morel mushrooms. The cream sauce made it next level. Overall, we loved everything we tried and wish we could go back tomorrow to try more!! Highly recommend!!

Monique M.

Yelp
A small quaint place with great tasting tapas. You will need to reserve, it gets busy!

Yelp
Best ribs of my life. I don't know what they did to make the glaze but it was like heaven. Could eat 10 more of them. The squid ink pasta was also SO GOOD. The steak and lamb were also really tender really good.

J D.

Yelp
Best meal I've had in a long time. Service was great. Overall it was an amazing experience. I'm def going back regularly.
google avatar

Gloria C.

Yelp
Service was standard Spain service, please don't expect much, they all spoke English though. I guess I should've looked at yelp review before I ordered because seems like I ordered all the unpopular dishes hence my so-so experience. But I wanted something that's not the typical "patatas bravas". So I guess my review is just for the dishes that I've tried. Sea bass ceviche w/ kimchi was nice try with the Asian fusion but not a fan, it was definitely on the salty side. Foie gras burger was small which is fine for 8€ but the foie gras was really thin. The texture of the oxtail was so soft and tender but it was crazy salty. Even eating it with the minimal amount of mashed potatoes they gave me did not help. 45€ for 1 person and everything was insanely salty. Unless you love heavily salted food, do not recommend.

Yelp
Love this restaurant in Barcelona. We went to Gracia location first night in town and enjoyed ourselves so much we booked reservation for our last night in Barcelona before leaving the restaurant. I'd call the food "sophisticated tapas plus." I had the oxtail (toro) tail, which was tender with incredible depth of flavor. The Russian potato salad with octopus was also incredible. We also ordered the squid ink noodles with chunks of squid which was delicious. The servers were knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions. They scrambled around to place to make sure all customers were well taken care of. The location was off a side street near a plaza. It was smartly decorated and had a sophisticated, first date type ambiance. Overall, I would highly recommend Tapeo. Cheers!

Yelp
Great simply great food. I would give a 5 stars just because a delay on our delicious fideuá and super delicious non comparing ribs .. you got to try them. A Fideuá with erizo and Gambas a stellar great food.

Yelp
Loved our time at Tapeo and it was hit with the variety of their menu! There is something for everyone on their menu and I loved how quick and efficient they execute in bringing out food; I was very impressed as an American in Spain and expecting no speed. It was much appreciated because I was hangry. Haha Their lobster fried rice was so good and a top favorite. Their house wine was really good too.
google avatar

Pearl M.

Yelp
We had reservations, but showed up early and they were able to accommodate us. The atmosphere is great, very clean and cozy. The servers were friendly and all spoke English that we spoke to. The food is great, the patatas bravas were the best we've had in Barcelona. I followed the advice of a lot of yelpers to place my orders and it was all wonderful. I have to say I didn't love the truffled eggs. Maybe I just don't like truffles, but I normally love mushrooms, and couldn't eat it. Everything else to was very interesting, and well done. That dish was as well, I just must not like truffles.

Yelp
Came here on family vacation, at the recommendation of a client, and it did not disappoint! We had a bigger group, which was a plus, because we got to sit in the much quieter back room. (The front/main space is very narrow and hectic, which is a vibe - just not our vibe with a mixed group). KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: this is definitely a spot that is getting to be more well known, and in a well trafficked museum district. The prices and reservations reflect this, so don't be surprised. You can get much more affordable tapas and drinks elsewhere, but you aren't coming here for affordability - you're coming for gastronomy. The service was INCREDIBLE. Like over the top excellent. The servers were multilingual of course, and our server gave us excellent recommendations for dishes when we couldn't make up our mind. What really sealed the deal though was how well he interacted with our cranky toddler. He charmed her, helped her settle down, and did magic tricks for her. By the end of our meal she was asking "where did my friend go?" Overall the food was all excellent and we particularly enjoyed the ribs and lamb. The wine was also great and well priced, but the sangria was far too sweet for our tastes, even without mixing. PRO-TIP: make reservations, and consider going with friends to secure that back room.
google avatar

Josephine C.

Yelp
Small restaurant, food and drinks were amazing! Was kind of disappointed that they sold out the bone marrow. We ordered panna cotta, ribs, squid ink past, mushroom with truffles and foie gras, and sangria
google avatar

Julian C.

Yelp
Nice restaurant with some really delicious bites, the honey mustard ribs were a must get! Relatively simple dishes with high quality ingredients. The honey mustard ribs were amazing and super memorable across our whole trip in Spain. They came out hot, tender, and falling off the bone in a sweet, sticky, and tangy sauce. The meat itself was perfectly cooked and fattiness was so good with the sauce. The iberian ham was also great, some of our favorite during our trip. Super high quality and you can see them slicing it towards the kitchen. It had that quintessential salty/nutty flavor that is unique to cured meats - so so good. Cod fritters were tasty, beef was a little dry but had a good sauce on top. Eggs were also good but nothing standout. We did have a reservation and the place did get very crowded shortly after opening. Overall it was a very solid meal, would recommend.
google avatar

Mary R.

Yelp
Service was great. Ambiance was date night vibes and food was top notch! Hidden gem of Barcelona and close to a strip of bars so a perfect spot to get a nice dinner before hitting the night scene.
google avatar

Shannon L.

Yelp
Ok, you might think this is a tourist trap because it is so close to the museums, but this place makes legit food. Service is fast and they want you to be able to grab a seat. Delicious tomato with burrata, jamon, asparagus, bone marrow and Veal. There is a reason why this place is busy.
google avatar

Daniel O.

Yelp
Absolute fire!!! This place is one of the most memorable meals I had in Spain!!! The service was excellent and every dish was a win
google avatar

Will D.

Yelp
My family and I enjoyed the food here at Tapeo during lunch. The short ribs were so tender and juicy and the patatas bravas were delicious!
google avatar

Lynn B.

Yelp
We enjoyed all the tapas we had: roasted eggplant, tempura vegetables, beef tenderloin with truffle clause and honey ribs. Very crowded when we walked in, but served quickly. Waiter wasn't overly friendly or even moderately friendly, but we enjoyed the food.
google avatar

Sabrina S.

Yelp
10/10 not a place to miss when you're in Barcelona. Don't go there if you don't have a reservation because the wait can be very long and the place looks like a hall closet. Luckily I was able to make a reservation a month in advance but I'm sure you can make it sooner than that (I'm an over planner when it comes to European trips). We ordered about 15 tapas dishes and none of them disappoint. The only one I would skip on is the "meatball" which is $3 euros and mostly fried bread crumbs. But everything else was excellent. Order the "white" sangria called Sangria cava (sparkling sangria). It's a sweet sparkling white wine with fruit. And don't miss out on the passion fruit panna cotta. Best I ever tasted. The service was friendly and quick.
google avatar

Erin S.

Yelp
Do not skip this place when you're in Barcelona.m, and you need to have a reservation. The line can reach around the block, especially at night. This was some of the best sangria we had on our entire Spain trip. The ambience is dark and moody, and it's a long skinny room with tables on the right hand side and then bar seating on the left. do not skip the local favorites shown below in photos. Service is fine, just try to speak some spanish and make an effort!!
google avatar

Alison L.

Yelp
We went in the evening, and the restaurant was lively and busy. The fried aubergines with honey and lime were surprisingly the highlight. So simple yet so delicious. The Iberian pork ribs with honey and mustard as well as the grilled leeks were tasty but not groundbreaking. The asparagus tempura with romesco sauce was alright, but I would not order it again.
google avatar

Jessica G.

Yelp
Super delicious and well plated tapas. Great, moody, dark ambiance. Service was good. Loved my cheese plate and meat potato ball. Definitely recommend to stop by if you're wanting good tapas.

Paul M.

Yelp
A true tapas bar with some modern twists. Good prices, good portions, fast and attentive service.
google avatar

Tim S.

Yelp
Loved this place. Excellent service and great tapas. Busy yet cozy setting. We had a variety of tapas. The fried asparagus were excellent: crispy, light, and great way to start. We then moved on to the beef cheeks: rich, indulgent, meaty. We decided to the try the Bombeta (sp?) which we enjoyed. It had a flaky outside crust and just the right hint of spice. The tortellini was good. A lot of the food we ordered was heavier and I may have picked something else if given then chance but still enjoyed it. The pasta tasted homemade and great flavors and balance. Lastly the mushroom, quail egg, foie gras was great. This was the last thing we enjoyed before dessert and I was so full this was hard to get down. I might start with it first. For desert, we enjoyed the Catalan cream. Nice light desert, almost a cross between a mouse and whip cream. Excellent way to finish the meal. Make sure you make reservations in advance. This place quickly books out.
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
4.5/5 stars Made a reservation for dinner and was seated quickly at the bar. We ordered the leeks, fideuá with sea urchin and prawns, oxtail, and grilled squid. The leeks were out-of-this world good! I also enjoyed the fideuá, although I didn't taste the sea urchin, and there could have been more shrimp pieces. The oxtail was super tender, but a little too salty. The squid was tender and yummy. This place was definitely on the pricey side for tapas. Service was quick

Kimberly R.

Yelp
Great food! We enjoyed everything we ordered from veggies to meats to seafood. These small plates were delicious and we felt comfortable in the restaurant. The service was very good and we felt like we were never waiting for our waiter or looking around for help. As a tourist, it was a very pleasant dining experience that felt authentic (to my knowledge) of Spanish tapas and very easy to navigate as well!
google avatar

Allen Y.

Yelp
The best tapa place in downtown Barcelona! Pros - the food is absolutely delicious. Their slow braised rib is a must have if you visit. Great rice dishes and their cannelioni is an absolute delight. Super friendly and attentive staff. Cons - smaller and super popular place so be prepared to wait in line, especially during peak hours Definitely check this place out for amazing tapas and friendly service. My go-to place every-time I visit Barcelona
google avatar

Alexis C.

Yelp
The tapas was TOP NOTCH. Explosion of flavors!! My favorite was the veal with marrow, the slow cooked marinated pork belly, and the steak with chimichurri. It's hard for me to say that because everything was so delicious. Service was fast and easy. Resy via Google. Got seated right when we got there. Nicer tapas place. Bigger inside than it looks. Definitely a GREAT choice for tapas!
google avatar

Perry P.

Yelp
We went wihout a reservation and were nearly turned away. As we were leaving they asked if we wanted a table that we had to vacte by 8:00. As it was barely 7pm we took it. WOW - what great food, service, and accommodating. I highly recommend making reservations though.
google avatar

Ayall S.

Yelp
Great tapas place in the old gothic born neighborhood of Barcelona. The service was fairly standard, and the ambiance was nice and slightly above par of other similar establishments: typical small interior, clean, well kept, and looked on the fancier side. The reason to come here is for the food and it does not disappoint. There are definitely some dishes which are better than others; the highlights for me were the oysters (might be top 3 I've ever had), skirt steak, and the burratta (I recommend to order coca bread to spread it on). The cuttlefish pasta was also good, and the only thing I wouldn't order again is the patatas bravas (which I only ordered based on some of the raved yelp reviews) as they were basic and just weren't that impressive (or simply didn't live up to the hype). Prices are reasonable and comparable to other tapas joints in the area. Although you might get lucky with a walk-in, this place takes advance reservations and I strongly recommend going that route if you're looking to try this place out.
google avatar

Anny L.

Yelp
Great food and great service! This place was super packed on a Sunday night. The Iberian ribs, the cuttlefish pasta were both amazing. Skirt steak was pretty food, but not my absolute favorite.
google avatar

Annie H.

Yelp
Very good service was great but very noisy and small place good for a quick bite I would definitely come back
google avatar

Dfrancisco G.

Yelp
We have very good experience food was amazing, service was really good the ambience even it's crowded but it feel good and costumer are friendly, I recommend this place we really enjoy the food and the staff. All the food we have was just taste amazing.
google avatar

Mathew V.

Yelp
This is a tapas style restaurant. First off, I'd recommend making a reservation. I waited over an hour for a table and only did so because of the high ratings. The food was above average and well prepared. The dishes were flavorful and decent sized portions. The bombeta, patatas bravas, asparagus tempura, and beef skirt steak were really good, and I'd have these again. The fried eggplant with goat cheese and honey wasn't bad but exactly what it sounds like. The restaurant is small and a little crowded but I think it adds to its personality. The service was really good and the food comes from various stations so it was fast and kept coming. I'd come here again but read the first paragraph again. I'd definitely make a reservation before I came here.
google avatar

Mista N.

Yelp
The ribs here are amazing. Id fly back for another order located in the heart of the gothic district this little gem is a must try

Claudia G.

Yelp
So incredible, we came back twice! The beef tenderloin is out of this world. We also loved the sangria, the patatas bravas, and the pork ribs! The asparagus was the only flop, we needed a vegetable but we only had two bites and we're done. The rest of it? We ordered more of haha.
google avatar

Young C.

Yelp
This place was packed.. 30 mins wait at 9:30 pm.. . Forgot people like to socialize late here. I was hungry and had good reviews so I thought I give it a try. Nice atmosphere little too small for my take.. Not much room to move around other than sit, eat, and drink. Ordered the house vermut and sangria.. This place vermut best so far. Ordered beef cheek, beef ribs, and cuttlefish pasta. Beef cheek was not bad. Very rich and I could not for the life of me figure out what sauce it was topped with.. Taste was not bad but nothing crazy. Beef ribs came with 2 small ribs but the flavor was similar to beef cheek and also very rich. Cuttlefish pasta was pretty good. You get what you order.. Very strong cuttlefish flavor. Again pretty good but nothing crazy good. Over all it was fun experience, friendly staff decent food. I give 3 star for food but over all atmosphere and service I give it a 4.. It was nice tapa bar to try out.
google avatar

Doreen J.

Yelp
We had an amazing meal and service. We were visiting and looked on yelp for a non tourist place and this was it. Busy busy but we got squished in to the bar. Although busy the staff treated us very well and we never felt rushed. Now the important part The FOOD.. it was delish! We had pork that was perfect and delish croquettes. The chocolate dessert with salt and olive oil oh my and have it with a glass of sweet port!
google avatar

Rodney F.

Yelp
Great food and service and ambiance Be sure to make a desert ahead of time as it is an intimate space. Would go again in a heart beat. Oysters, ribs, and steak with chimicheri sauce all excellent.
google avatar

Ryan M.

Yelp
Came and tried this tapas bar in the Gothic quarter. I was a bit skeptical because if it's location but it did not disappoint. In fact it was one of the best meals in Barcelona. We ordered the bombeta it was a spicy ground pork croquette. Outside was so crispy and inside so tender and tasty. It reminded me of a fried shepherds pie. Ox tail with santa pau beans. The ox tail came off the bone but in one whole piece. It was so tender and soft. Glazed beef cheek and beef ribs were fork tender and properly braised. The beef rib came off the bone and came with roasted garlic which added a nice sweetness when eaten together. We got the grilled leek confit with olive paste which went well as an an added veg to each of the meat dishes. I also had a house vermouth which was really nice. I believe it came with orange zest and olives. It was sweet and had a nice citrusy flavor. Tapeo seems to have a bit of a Japanese influence with the soy marinated beef rib, tempura asparagus, yakisoba veggies and mushrooms. I like Cervesaria Catalonia for seafood based tapas and Tapeo for meat based tapas. This place was crowded but we got sat right away at the bar, service was friendly and helpful and they spoke perfect English. It's a tight squeeze but so worth it. Highly recommend this place.

Maxi L.

Yelp
This was our last meal in Barcelona!! One of the best meal I've had on this trip! We waited for a longgggg time for a spot. But it was so worth it!!!! Everything was amazing!!!! Waiter was quick and helpful. Although by the time we sat it was towards the end of night but the food was so good I had to keep ordering lol. Food did take a bit long but it was slammed so the kitchen was pumping! I can not wait to go back and have been raving to everyone about this place!!
google avatar

Mary A.

Yelp
The food was outstanding. Very small with mostly high tops. A reservation is highly recommended. They went out of their way to accommodate my disability. The ribs and veal with bone marrow were north out of this world. Still dreaming about them. Near the Picasso museum. Check for new address as internet took us to an old location now closed

Yelp
Best restaurant I've ever been to. Ever. My boyfriend and I were visiting Barcelona for 5 days and ate here twice because it was just that good. The place is really small, so I would recommend making a reservation. We made a reservation the first time we went and were seated right away. The second time we went, we didn't have a reservation, and had to wait about an hour on a weekday. However, it's entirely worth the wait if you're not able to get a reservation! Items that completely blew me out of the water: - Iberican pork belly - patatas bravas (GET THESE. The best patatas bravas EVER) - Iberian ham croquettes - cuttle fish fideua pasta - grilled octopus with chickpeas - skirt steak with chimichurri - chocolate with bread, olive oil, and salt The only thing that was okay was the grilled rabbit with snails. It was just slightly lacking in flavor and wasn't for me since the rabbit was a little mushy. For drinks, we got a pitcher of the cava sangria the first visit, and a pitcher of the red wine sangria the second visit. I preferred the cava since the red was a little too sweet for my liking. I'm definitely returning to Tapeo the next time I'm in Barcelona. Until then, I'll just dream about it 6,000 miles away.

Chloe S.

Yelp
My families favorite tapas restaurant in Barcelona! Make sure you make a reservation online before visiting as they are always full! Wonderful food and wine. So fun for the entire family to share. You absolutely cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. The Patatas bravas were my favorite version of our entire trip. The ribs and lamb skewer were also to die for!
