Tapioca Express

Visited the newly opened Tapioca Express in Herndon today. Enjoyed their boba and was surprised they had so many snack options!! Favorites were the shrimp tempura with sweet chili sauce and the fried string beans. They didn’t seem very fried which is good in my book. Nicely seasoned too. Their crispy chicken was also good we were able to choose the spice level and I went with medium which was perfect. The chichi fries were great… love the chichi sauce that comes with it! As for drinks I loved the Mangonada. It was so beautiful and delicious for how hot and humid it was outside. Also enjoyed the honeydew snow bubble and combination yogurt frost which tasted similar to a Greek yogurt parfait with fruit. The staff was very friendly, the space is cute but small more of a to-go and enjoy outside type of place. They do however have a high top table if you’re able to snag it! Definitely coming back to try more of their menu soon!

We usually get their spicy crispy popcorn chicken and it always made fresh to order. As well as their boba milk teas are made fresh to order. I like their molasses latte with coffee jelly & panda boba and whole milk. Their Okinawa milk tea with panda boba is also good with mild tea flavor. You do have to wait about 5-10 minutes for your order depending on how busy they are and how much food and drinks you order. Overall friendly service!!

First off, this review is about the drinks, not the service nor the employee. Actually, my hats off to the employee for providing good service in a such a cramped space. It is incredibly hard to imagine how all the food snack items can be created in such a small space and the smell of oil permeates the air. Most food items are fried so it's nothing a small restaurant grade microwave, air fryer, and oven cannot take care of. Now the drink menu is expansive for such a small footprint. But sadly the boba..... was devastatingly tasteless and not even round like a sphere. The shape of the boba looked like droppings of a thick substance in the drink and in the mouth (poor description for overcooked boba I guess). As for the drink, while it seems freshly brewed, the boba ruined the drink TBH. There isn't another bubbletea shop for another couple miles so I can't complain that much since every town deserves to host as many bubbletea cafes as coffee shops.

Service was amazing. The cash register was super welcoming. I loved how patient she was and the amount of respect and manners she had. I have never seen a worker/staff member like her before. She made the experience so much better. If you’re looking to get boba COME TO THIS PLACE!!!! Best place EVER plus it had REALLY good boba! 💗

It is a nice and clean store, with polite cashiers. Their beverages taste good, but around 1$ more than other similar stores. Their top-up and options are very good as well. Few things: 1- Parking is limited, you need to park a bit farther away from the store. 2- No restroom is available. 3- Hours are limited, especially during the work days, seems this store is a 2nd line of business for the owners. Opens from 4 pm till 9 pm, but more on weekends. 4- The taste of their beverages is tricky, depending on your taste and preferences, a few people may not like what they obtained. So I recommend starting with the smallest cup to see if you like your order or not. Thus, if you don't like the taste of what you ordered, at least you didn't pay extra for a larger cup. 5- very limited area to sit, with almost zero tables or chairs, it is a to-go store.

Amazing and attentive customer service. The girl at the counter was super sweet and she had a great smile which was very welcoming for our family. They had a great variety of food and drinks. Definitely recommend for anyone whi enjoys cold tasty drinks and hot food.

I love coming to this place! I get the caramel milk tea every time. It’s a really cute spot in town.

Ordered my go to drink-taro milk tea with sea salt foam. Tastes good compared to other bobba tea places in the area. Staff is friendly and informative.

Ordered a honeydew snow bubble and it was ok. Not too sweet and a mild honeydew flavor. Kind of hard to locate, faces the street and parking is behind. More options on the menu than on the touch screen ordering machine. Service was ok and not a lot of seating.

Good as expected. Heard lots of good things about Cali locations and Herndon location hit the spot. Mango Boba was just sweet enough, perfect size, and filling. Well priced and will def come back to try out other flavors.

I had a hard time locating this place. Didn't realize it was facing the street so I ended up circling around the shopping center twice before I saw it. You could tell the staff was very new as they had to look at the recipes as they were making the drinks. The drinks were a bit bland for my taste. The popcorn chicken machine was neat. They had good flavor, but taste like they were just from frozen warmed up. Not sure I'd be back.

I went to this Tapioca Express to try their boba tea, i'm from California so I know the is brand, didn't know they have store here, I ordered their snow bubble and milk tea, and popcorn chicken and it's so great, they maintain a good quality same as California. Definitely go again and so happy we have decent boba tea store in Herndon

I ordered take out from here, hopefully that they had Taiwanese crispy chicken and crispy tofu. What I got was some chopped up chunks of chicken nuggets (the cheap kind you get from McDonalds) and not real meat. Pictures on DoorDash and advertisements are NOT REAL. They came in paper bags and they dumped a ton of MSG into the bag. It's barely even edible. Please do not lie to your customers by posting misleading pictures. I feel completely ripped off. The same goes for the crispy tofu. They completely dumped a ton of MSG powder into the bag. I can't even eat it and had to throw it out.

TLDR: fair boba, lots of options, no parking as it's on the side of the road, great service It's on the side of the road so you need to park elsewhere and walk to it. It's pretty hot inside and there is no restroom. There is one table to sit at and it's very small inside. They have a lot of drink options, the flavor was good. I was disappointed that the chicken was not like the pictures advertised, I was craving your typical boba place popcorn chicken, as you see in their pictures, and this was not that. It's little circle chunks.... I wouldn't be upset except they have pictures CLEARLY showing something else, even inside. The Indian girl serving was extremely kind and thoughtful, and she worked hard to get through all the drinks for everyone!

This place has the most restrictive operating hours of 4:00 pm - whatever. It's a small takeout style shop Very friendly service. It took a bit of time to prepare the drinks and food. We order two drinks and a crispy chicken. All are delicious. But the operating hours will likely deter us from going back.

Absolutely amazing customer service. There was an issue with someone harassing me and the employees stepped in and helped out, and even if they closed five minutes earlier they were still willing to serve us. Thank you to the three employees out front, thank you. We went rather late but it's a nice little shop in Herndon and smells good, very welcoming for the most part. It's a quiet location when it comes late at night. GET THE FRENCH FRIES. I don't know how they did it but those French fries are TO DIE FOR, SERIOUSLY! We got these mild ones and they're just spicy enough and have some honey to them. The boba is tasty, I ordered the Taro Milk tea and it's soo good, definitely creamier than other locations. The Matcha isn't overly bitter, so it's easier to drink. I definitely recommend Tapioca Express!

If you're used to Kung fu tea or something, you HAVE to try this place! It's amazing they use fresh fruit, and you can totally tell the difference. I ordered honeydew milk tea with rainbow popping bubbles, and they're more delicate than at other places they're smoother, and the real fruit makes it even better. everything is really fresh and delicious. Definitely get the fried tofu it's like lightly crunchy on the outside, and then splits and pillows inside sooooo good

Ordered the Thai Tea Snow Bubble and was highly disappointed at first slip. The menu stated you could customize the milk but the employee acted confused when I asked for almond milk. The drink didn't have any milk in it, it was basically just ice. No real flavor, super watered down. We also ordered the rose milk tea and it was overly sweet- not enjoyable. Can't say I'll be back again.

Tapioca Express is an amazing Boba one can get. Very professional , friendly and amazing Boba options. We also had Tapioca Express Boba stall in the East Meets West SaReGaMe Musical Festival in Herndon and it was a huge hit . People loved the Bobas. They have an amazing team who takes care of the customers so well. Thank you Kavitha and the young kids who took care of the entire Festival serving Bobas. We loved to have you guys ! Sravan

This is the best place to come after school or just in general to hang out with friends and enjoy drinks, food, friendly atmosphere! Would definitely recommend.

very small amount of tapioca/boba is added to drink. I ordered a large drink and I got 5-6 perls. Waste of money.

Nice place. Boba is good, and great customer service. Have been back a few times and this place is solid every time.

Staff is always courteous and tea is well made & delicious! My favorite spot in Herndon, so happy when I go there!
