Worst “Michelin Guide” Experience in Bangkok – Extremely Disappointing
I visited Tapori expecting a quality dining experience worthy of its Michelin Guide reputation — especially since it was my Valentine’s date. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had.
To be fair, the prawn ghee roast was delicious, and the complimentary rasam was amazing — easily the best part of the meal.
But everything after that went downhill fast.
The service was shockingly bad. The waiters didn’t even know what was on the menu and kept giving us wrong information. One incident completely summed up the chaos — we ordered neer dosa, and the waiter brought papadum, insisting “this is how we serve dosa here.” We were stunned and had to call the manager.
The manager apologized and told us both waiters had only started two days ago, which honestly explains a lot — but for a Michelin Guide restaurant, this is unacceptable.
The food that came later was not up to Michelin standards at all — bland, poorly presented, and nowhere near the quality you’d expect for the price.
To make things worse, I still ended up paying over 2,500 baht for an experience that ruined what was supposed to be a special evening.
Good prawn dish and rasam aside, everything else — service, knowledge, overall quality — was a complete letdown.
For the price and the Michelin name, I expected excellence.
What I got was confusion, poor service, and disappointment.
Would not recommend.
