A simple dish is hardest to make because there's little room for error. Taquearte fries the tortilla chips to order, cooks the meat/eggs to order, and preps each serving's salsa to order! You know it's going to be great when you arrive at 10am and the line is out the door and all the tables were seated.
The most important thing to mention is the entrance location. There is a small sign above the door, but not on the main building. The entrance is on the far left side of the building, under the D in Duran's.
Once you get in, it's a small place. There are 4 "picnic bench" style tables available. All the other patrons are nice enough to share their table.
You will need to order at the cashier. Once ordered, the chilequiles take about 10 minutes to be prepared (maybe a little less time when it's not as busy). It was good to see that the chips are fried to order, along with the meat and eggs (if added).
I opted for the green sauce with pork (chuleta) but forgot to add egg. There's also some crema, onions, and queso on there. The chips stayed crisp as I ate the dish. The pork is tender is tasty. I do wish there was a little more cheese and onion, but, overall, I loved it!
The service was good. It's similar to a fast casual style (order and they'll bring your food out once done). Real silverware is provided so there's less plastic waste
The cashier spoke limited English, so I would suggest to read up on the menu to make his life (and yours) easier. There are a few daily specials. I'll post a photo of that next week when I go again.
They also serve tacos after 12 noon, so I'll definitely head back there to try it.
A suggestion for the business: have the customers pay at time of order instead of after eating. Paying afterwards is rough when there's a line and you have to wait in it again. Also, ask for the customer name at time of order as sometimes it was hard for the server to find the person that ordered it.
