"The couple behind Los Angeles’s best chilaquiles, Anyelo Farfan and Monica Quinto, are the only game in town when it comes to Mexico City-style tacos a la plancha, or steel flat-top grilled tacos. Set inside a Pico Rivera bakery, Farfan and Quinto grill thin cuts of beef, bone-in pork chops, and campechanos (combos), like a rib and chorizo taco. The meats are expanded over a pair of warm corn tortillas. The key to these formidable tacos are complex salsas such as salsa siete chiles, a blend of seven different chiles, and salsa de pepino, cucumber with dried chiles, that take these tacos to the next level." - Bill Esparza

Google
Dropped by Taquearte California and was really impressed by the flavors--especially their Verde dish. The verde sauce was the star--bright, tangy, and packed with flavor without being too spicy. It added just the right amount of kick to the tender meat (we had it with pork), which was juicy and well-seasoned. Everything was layered with care--fresh tortillas, melted cheese, and just the right balance of sauce to meat. The spot itself is small and casual, with quick, friendly service. Great for a laid-back meal when you're craving something bold and satisfying. Definitely a solid stop if you're in the area and want a hit of fresh, flavorful Mexican food.

Google
Taquearte is very popular. They are known for their chilaquiles. We ordered the chilaquiles with chorizo & egg. The chips stayed crisp in the tangy spicy salsa. They had a nice variety of side salsas as well. Most people don't complain about cheese. When it came out though, it looked like cottage cheese, which cooled off the chilaquilas more than it should have. It is Mexican cheese, though. Overall, the meal was good. I would just melt the cheese a little bit more or put less of it on. There is normally a line, and when we left, we saw it starting to form.

Google
If you want to overpay for chips and eggs, go here. Honestly, I don’t understand what all the hype is about, Sergio’s tacos have chilaquiles that are just as good but the difference is, Sergio’s gives you beans and rice, for less. This place is all hyped up, the portions are tiny (see pic. That’s a venti Starbucks cup next to the plate) the taste is the same as other places, but I guess they’re charging more cuz some newspaper staff thinks their chilaquiles are the best in the world. Service is good tho, the staff is nice, but the place is tiny. Try it for yourself but don’t expect much or you may be disappointed.

Google
The chilaquiles are the best I've had in a long time. Reminded me of when I had them in Chihuahua. The quesadilla with mushrooms and steak was out of this world too! Top notch flavors and very good service. I'll be back for more.

Daniel Serrano

Google
Had the salsa Verde chilaquiles with an over easy egg and steak. I will be returning to try more. The seating isn't the greatest but get over yourself. You are there to eat and Leave. Pick up some sweet bread on the way out.

Julie Marquez

Google
Great food, good service and the atmosphere is meh. We came here quite some time ago and decided to return. The green spicy chilaquiles were delicious. My husband got the chuleta and steak tacos. They were huge!! Very tasty and the salsa selection was awesome!

Mariana Cueto

Google
We came here because how great everything looked in social media but to us the chilaquiles were just ok. The chilaquiles verdes are way better than the chilaquiles rojo but still i don't see the line worth it . We waited about 45min to get in, don't come hungry there is a huge chance that you will have to wait. The good part is that they have a bakery next to them and they sell Conchas:)

Google
Food was excellent. My wife prefers more home cooking than restaurants and rarley says something is good. She thought this was very good. Definitely like home cooking. Staff was very friendly only down side is this place is pretty small. They do their best trying to get everyone in and out. We did have to wait to be seated but it is worth the wait. The different chillies they serve with the chicharon de queso was excellent great flavors.

Luisa Maria G.

Yelp
Delicious food , best chilaquiles close to my home , the meat on the chilaquiles was great

Eddie S.

Yelp
Seeing this place go viral, I went to see what the hype was about. Well, the hype is real! The food is legit and I would definitely go again. My wife and I are planning our next visit. The line outside was long but only waited 10 minutes.

T O.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about this place...the chilaquiles are definitely tasty and well portioned for the $$...the molletes were also good, plenty of chorizo and cheese on a fresh bun....but how can you serve ROSARITA BEANS from a can??? That's unacceptable if you want to be considered a real mexican food place... disappointed Service was friendly and the place was pretty clean, only other downfall is no AC, so the place feels muggy on a hot day. I might give them another try, but definitely nothing with beans next time....SMH No Military Discount

Lisette K.

Yelp
Delicious. When you're fortunate enough to grow up Mexican, then you know how good chilaquiles can be for breakfast. And I'm telling you, This place is it! It does get pretty busy so be prepared to wait but it's worth it

Karrie S.

Yelp
Ok. Small hole in the wall place in Pico a block up from the Norms. I got the chicken chilaquiles Rojos picasitos and it was so good! Probably in the top 3 I've ever had. The servings are very big - even the yo go order. Will be at 3 servings for me. Also had the pepino y limon aqua and it was very refreshing. Be patient when you come here..... good food will not be ready in 3 minutes. It looked like the average was about 7 -10 minutes but they are all made to order. The salsas are sooooo good too! Wish I could have gotten a better picture but I was hungry and wanted to get to eating!!!

Brian V.

Yelp
My most recent visit, I came back specifically to get the chilaquiles in the morning for breakfast. My previous visit(s) was to get their delicious tacos, which is more at night after I get off of work. I ended up ordering the chilaquiles verdes and I added eggs over easy and some NY steak. The end result is a nice hearty serving of delicious flavors and textures. The chips were very crunchy, the salsa was slightly tangy and had a small kick. The eggs were perfectly cooked and the meat had great seasoning and added a smoky flavor to the whole thing. I was a huge fan of the chilaquiles. I don't usually eat steak and eggs for breakfast, but after having this dish here with the add-ons, I only want to eat steak and eggs together in this manner. In terms of service, it's still the same at night vs. morning - wait in line, order for there or take out and receive a number so they can bring you your food. The vibe is similar - maybe a bit more lively since people just got up and it's the weekend (when I went this time) vs. at night getting off work, etc. I hope to keep coming back and eating both in the morning and later in the day.

Mira A.

Yelp
The service was excellent , workers there were extremely welcoming and nice...food was delicious. They are some good chilaquiles. I prefer red over green and with ny steak . I feel the stars of the show are the aguas Frescas..all of them! The horchata is just as my Tia yoli used to make for us...and that cucumber and Jamaica make me feel like I'm in Guadalajara again. I have came back several times just for the agua Fresca. Food was fresh and worth the hype. Def should try.

Shawn G.

Yelp
Went to try this place about a week ago -Taquearte in Pico Rivera for tacos!! I was conflicted because the spot is equally known for saucy bowls of chilaquiles and Mexico City style tacos. Oh well, I ordered both. The star is really the tray of salsa that comes out to the table. They truly excel at salsa! It was all delicious!

Deborah C B.

Yelp
Food is AMAZING, Service with a smile, Ambiance Mexican with a bit of music!, A must try! We will be back.

Dan S.

Yelp
Chilaquiles are one of my favorite dishes, so when I heard that a place in Pico Rivera had the best Chilaquiles in LA, I had to go. Whereas many places only have one type of Chilaquiles on the menu, and others offer a limited number of options (red or green sauce, beef or chicken), this place offers 4 sauces, 5 different choices of meat, and eggs prepared 5 different ways. I had mine my favorite way (mild green sauce, chicken, and eggs over easy), and they were soo good! The serving was huge, and the service was great too! I WILL definitely be back (and WILL be getting the pork chop next time!

Aron C.

Yelp
The food was delicious, the chilaquiles had great sazon and the sauces had the perfect heat. Honestly I expected there to be more people so the service was great no wait, and the place was chill. And for after you have the panadera connected to get you some pan dulce to go. Totally recommend this spot, also a huge plus it was an all women staff. Can't wait to come back.

Juan N.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Get the picositos it isn't that hot. Chorizo was good but with the green sauce. The ribeye was my favorite but I'll get it with only red sauce. The molletes are bomb! Chorizo beans and cheeeeeeese! It is tucked away in a shopping plaza. The wait wasn't too bad, there is a panadería where you can grab a coffee and pan dulce while you wait. (If you're that hungry) It does get a bit stuffy inside (older building) especially after getting that slight heat from the salsa and summer. Overall will be coming back for more!

Ramon B.

Yelp
I'll have to try it again with the red sauce chilaquiles. They were good just not the best in the world

Susana P.

Yelp
Food was amazing...chilaquiles were fire. Coffee was also great. Came to relax and read a little bit. Love it

Yelp
Chip-chip hurray- Venturing out one Sunday morning, my craving for a stellar Mexican breakfast led me to Taquearte California in Pico Rivera. Despite a past attempt foiled by a lengthy wait, my revisit at 11 am offered a bustling yet manageable atmosphere. With chilaquiles being the apparent star, I decided to embrace the hype, ordering a delightful mix of both red and green sauces, paired with over-easy eggs and savory steak. Opting for a to-go order, I patiently waited for around 30 minutes, then hurriedly made my way home in 15 minutes. Unveiling the culinary treasure at home, I couldn't help but wonder--could a dish centered on chips and sauce really live up to the acclaim? To my delight, the experience unfolded as a symphony of flavors and textures--soggy yet crunchy, tangy yet spicy. Taquearte California undeniably claimed the throne as the purveyor of the finest chilaquiles I've ever savored. For those seeking a prompt feast, a call-ahead order seems to be the savvy choice, a strategy embraced by many patrons.

Yelp
Finally got to try after eyeing it for a while. Brought some friends along with me and they were glad I did. It's connected with Durans bakery but has its own vibe and such a cool atmosphere with great music playing. The service from beginning to end was great! I ordered the chilaquiles divorciados clasico style with scrambled eggs and bistec. Let me just say from the presentation to the taste I truly was impressed and enjoyed how flavorful it was and the portion was plentiful. I enjoyed how saucy it was and the quality and flavor of everything down to the meat and eggs. Truly perfection! Oh and let me add that they carry Boing juices which are rare to get anywhere, I couldn't say no to a Boing de guayaba. I will be back very soon to try the rest of the menu!

Melinda B.

Yelp
Yummmmm. I have been here twice. First visit was on a Sunday and they were BUSY. There's only 4 large tables. So, if the place is full and you see one or two people dining at a table, you're gonna need to ask to share the table (I did). And that was fine with me. I actually appreciated taking effort in interacting with others and sharing a space to dine. I think America needs more of that. I ordered the omelet. It was fun and creative. The cheese was crispy and it's layered over the scrambled egg. Then there's an egg, over easy, in the center. Second visit I ordered a mollete. It's a bolillo with beans, chorizo and cheese broiled on top. Very delicious flavors. Chorizo is tender. They give 4 homemade salsas on the side. They explained each one to me. They're attached to a bakery where you can coffee and bread too.

Rita F.

Yelp
Ambiance is nice, quaint and intimate. The seating is bench/picnic style tables, and it's connected to a panadería next door. I wasn't sure if I was at the right place but then saw the interior decor which matched the pictures on yelp. That was a way to quickly determine I was at the right spot. The people there are very nice and attentive. Tried their green sauce chilaquiles with chicken along with an agua fresca. Was made quickly and tasted good, didn't feel like the sauce was pure bouillon like some places do, the sauce was actually savory and had depth. The portion was a good amount, enough to save a ration for later. Overall, this place is cute, tasty and quaint. Whenever I'm around the area, I will come back and try the other sauces, so stay tuned for an update soon!

Cesar C.

Yelp
The wait is worth tasting the delicious food at Taquearte in Pico Rivera. Both the red and green chilaquiles were delicious. Can you handle the spice? The wait is a bit long but the staff is amazing providing great service. The light music is a great touch to atmosphere. Definitely will be back.

Willie M.

Yelp
From the outside it is unsuspecting. Tiny little taco shop connected to a Mexican market. You walk in and the place is packed. Picnic benches for seating you see all types of people hipsters, group of older gentlemen just passing the time, families. A small quaint kitchen that churns out their plates. Staff is very welcoming and if you aren't sure what to get make sure to ask. You can tell that they work hard and care about what they do. We were recommended three dishes for breakfast so we got all three of them. The cheese omelette was simple and yet beautiful. Cheese goes down on the grill to get crunchy outside. Two eggs are cracked on top of the cheese. Tomatoes and avocado are added. Super simple and yet very elegant. The chilaquiles are all about the sauce. They have a nice crunch to them. I got them divorciados so both green and red. Went with medium which was a good source of heat and doesn't overdo it. Next time I'll try hot. The green has a little more kick to it, the red a subtle sweetness. You can't go wrong with either. The steak was cooked perfectly. I asked to take the molletes to go. The bread is the perfect amount of airy and dense at the same time. I got it with chorizo on top. This is a perfect savory dish. It was not greasy or ever powering, just right. I also tried the horchata which was top notch. I can not wait to go back to try their tacos. I highly recommend everything I had.

Jose B.

Yelp
I think chilaquiles are their specialty And it's delicious too many good flavors green and red sauce and serve with two eggs your choice. The place its too small but food it's good.

Myan T.

Yelp
I work really close to Taquearte and am so happy to have this modern, CDMX bred shop come to our area! There are tons of street parking spots if you don't find any in the strip mall. It's nice and cool inside with ~4 picnic style tables and benches. Servers are very attentive and are quick to clear tables. The cashier spoke limited English so make sure you know what you want when it's your turn! They're open early for breakfast and close pretty late. I will say I was disappointed that they ran out of rojo salsa... only verde was available when we went at 1130AM. This might mean the rojo is really popular?? Will have to come back to try. We were also told that any dish with fresh tortilla would take 30 minutes. If you're here for just chilaquiles, that won't be a problem! If you want to try their tacos, be prepared for a wait. My coworkers and I all got the chilaquiles verde and we were all very satisfied. The chips were extra crunchy and the perfect thickness. The salsa was very flavorful and when coated which chips/meat was heaven. The creamy toppings were a nice balance to the acidity of the salsa. I normally am not a fan of chilaquiles but these have changed my mind. The move seems to be to come in the morning when they have their breakfast offerings! Will have to try that next time.

Libby R.

Yelp
Wow. IG reels did NOT miss with this one. Saw a reel about the best chilaquiles in LA in my own neighborhood and thought there was no way. Headed over on Halloween for lunch and my first bite was so good my eyes rolled to the back of my head. I knew then this was the spot. Three days later I was already craving so I took my hubs and kiddo for dinner. It was a bit of a wait to get our food, but when it got there, all the praise my husband had heard the last couple of days was confirmed as accurate. He had the red chilaquiles (which may be better than the green - and for me to say that is MAJOR) the Mega Quesa which is a quesadilla in a fresh made tortilla with seasoned mushrooms and onions in their red and green sauce - insanely good, and beef and chicken tacos which my toddler tore up and I was happy to bat clean up on what was left. This place is small and mighty. Everyone should try it... just space it out so the ti y spot doesn't get overwhelmed.

Silvia G.

Yelp
Service here was horrible! The older woman taking orders at the register did not acknowledge any of us standing in line not even because we were up next. Didn't greet us to say, hi or I'll be with you shortly. Everytime she turned around, she just walked across, around us & even took the time to take out foam out the Jamaica agua. No eye contact! Pepino lime agua was too watery! 3/10 for overall experience.

Jeff C.

Yelp
A simple dish is hardest to make because there's little room for error. Taquearte fries the tortilla chips to order, cooks the meat/eggs to order, and preps each serving's salsa to order! You know it's going to be great when you arrive at 10am and the line is out the door and all the tables were seated. The most important thing to mention is the entrance location. There is a small sign above the door, but not on the main building. The entrance is on the far left side of the building, under the D in Duran's. Once you get in, it's a small place. There are 4 "picnic bench" style tables available. All the other patrons are nice enough to share their table. You will need to order at the cashier. Once ordered, the chilequiles take about 10 minutes to be prepared (maybe a little less time when it's not as busy). It was good to see that the chips are fried to order, along with the meat and eggs (if added). I opted for the green sauce with pork (chuleta) but forgot to add egg. There's also some crema, onions, and queso on there. The chips stayed crisp as I ate the dish. The pork is tender is tasty. I do wish there was a little more cheese and onion, but, overall, I loved it! The service was good. It's similar to a fast casual style (order and they'll bring your food out once done). Real silverware is provided so there's less plastic waste The cashier spoke limited English, so I would suggest to read up on the menu to make his life (and yours) easier. There are a few daily specials. I'll post a photo of that next week when I go again. They also serve tacos after 12 noon, so I'll definitely head back there to try it. A suggestion for the business: have the customers pay at time of order instead of after eating. Paying afterwards is rough when there's a line and you have to wait in it again. Also, ask for the customer name at time of order as sometimes it was hard for the server to find the person that ordered it.

Apollonia G.

Yelp
Best chilaquiles in LA hands down, the picositos are my go-to. Flavorful, spicy with a perfect balance of crunch & softness to them. I've come here a handful of times and they never disappoint. Friendly, welcoming service in a small cozy setting.

Irma A.

Yelp
I had green chilla que and hubby had red Have to say the taste is delicious and I ordered over medium eggs. They will add meat if you want. Don't forget bakery next door. Yum

Jon M.

Yelp
Amazing little gem we found today! Located in the corner of a small shopping center, sharing walls with a bakery. Cozy casual setting. Great music. Great vibes. We ordered the chilaquiles. Best we've ever had hands down. No question. We also got the mega queca divorciado. BOMB ass well. The tortillas are so fresh and the sauces to die for. Speaking of salsas they bring you a salsa flight. So unique and each one was exceptional. were definitely coming back to try the other items on the menu. Keep up the phenomenal work

Lisa B.

Yelp
The menu is small but the food is delightful! I like that the menu is small because they can perfect a dish when they don't have dozens of other options to serve. The chilaquiles verdes were my favorite! So glad they are near by. The chicharron de queso was so good! We also ordered a mollete that my husband enjoyed. There aren't really any options for kids but their customer service was excellent, they offered to make my kids eggs with their potatoes. My one year old was having too much fun, he was even blowing kisses to their waitress. The restaurant itself is small but very clean with unique art on the walls. Overall, I would suggest you try the chilaquiles here, you won't be disappointed.

Reg R.

Yelp
Very good Home made style chilaquiles. Friendly customer service, small & cute eating area.

Liz R.

Yelp
The chilaquiles were absolutely delicious! And I'm very picky with chilaquiles and these were the best I've tried in a long time. I got the divorciados with egg and chorizo and strongly recommend!!! We've gone twice already. You must try this spot!!

Rosa M.

Yelp
Food is phenomenal! Super authentic. Service is on point with super friendly and warm staff. The ambiance is super cute and a lot of opportunity for some photo ops.

Joaquin V.

Yelp
Taquearte offers a delightful culinary experience, especially with their flavorful chilaquiles picosos featuring egg and steak, which are undeniably delicious. The portion sizes are generous, ensuring you leave fully satisfied. For spice enthusiasts, the heat level is perfect, but those averse to spice can opt for the milder chilaquiles clásicos. They also offer molletes which are bolillo with beans and you can choose chorizo or steak. If you prefer tacos, they also have on the menu options for tacos and different salsas to accompany them. For those of you who love coffee, they have a nice selection of coffee drinks. If you are up for desert, they have jericallas and other deserts to fill your sweet tooth. Parking might be a bit tight, but street parking is available, and although the restaurant's space is small, it's cozy. Just be prepared for potential waits during busy times, as they share the space with a bakery, adding to the charm of the overall dining experience.

Omar F.

Yelp
If you're like me then tacos are religion. The Mecca of tacos is located in Pico Rivera. To any non believers you have to come and try for yourself. All tacos are served with a variety of salsas. All the salsas are unique, flavorful and most importantly si pica cuz...meaning they pack a punch. Pricey but worth the price. Tacos are served with melted cheese, and papas on top. Delicious! Service is upbeat, Friendly and just create a positive vibe. These tocos are creative, delicious and combine with the salsa and agua fresca is just a recipe for success. Bless be the taco makers

Ann G.

Yelp
What a gem! Not only were the chilaquiles excellent, but one of the owners, Alfonso, was as nice as can be. Had two types of chilaquiles, side of guacamole, and we were treated to some of their salsa. Cannot wait to come back and try their tacos. ¡Estupendo!

Destiny C.

Yelp
Wow! I'm so glad we tried this place. The staff is incredibly welcoming and friendly. I ordered the green chilaquiles with chicken and they are delicious! We also had the bistec and costilla tacos. They are topped with potatoes and grilled onions (optional). The variety of salsas put the tacos over the top. Wow! The salsas are all different and flavorful.

David S.

Yelp
This place a little gem, and you get a double surprise since it's connected to Mexican bakery that you can smell the sweetness since you walk In. I had the Chilaquiles with chorizo and it was amazing! Will come back again soon

Melissa A.

Yelp
The chilaquiles divorciados picosos are very good! Perfect spice and flavor. Agua- Cucumber and Lemon Friendly staff, fast service which is a plus!

Lori R.

Yelp
1st time here and the food is GREAT!! Wait time was about 15min during lunch time on a Sat. Very clean inside and service was great. My husband had the Chilaquiles Rojo spicy with chicken & chorizo and I had the chilaquiles verde clásico (non spicy) .. I have to say even tho I got the non-spicy it was just a little too spicy for ME, but again I don't like spicy so if you can handle a lil kick you will be fine. The flavor in both dishes were very tasty and full of flavor, the chilaquiles were nice and crispy just how I like them. I highly recommend giving this place a try. I will definitely be coming back.

Ivette B.

Yelp
Great food! Very authentic! Service is excellent, owner offered us some delicious salsas to try....amazing! This is a little gem! Definitely will go back.

Angela L.

Yelp
They really do live up to the title of best chilaquiles. It's my favorite brunch dish, and I think Taquearte is now my all time favorite. Tried the roja with steak and a cucumber lime agua fresca the first time I was there. I shared it with my partner and we were both stuffed, yet was tempted to try a taco. Next time for sure. Well, I was thinking of it again for dinner today, so I got the verde sauce with pork and it was just as delicious. The best verde salsa I've ever had, and I usually don't really like it as much as red salsa. The staff is always friendly and the service is timely. Not much of a crowd in the later evening.

Maya G.

Yelp
The Food, Service, Ambience 5 stars! This place is a great combination of old childhood comfort food with a next gen twist.

Jimmy V.

Yelp
I had that ratatouille moment with the chilaquiles! The food, service, and ambiance were excellent. Definitely coming back to try more of the menu.

Gerardo R.

Yelp
Back again. I like going twice to see if they stand up the first times hype and let me tell you it does!

Alfonso V.

Yelp
Los mejores chilaquiles que eh probado. Al estilo de la Ciudad de México. Tratan al cliente con todo respeto y cómo fue mi primera vez, la persona quien los atendió (mi tocaya Alfonso) al . Hospitalidad great service. Family owned so the ambience is at its best, it's a family affair. And if there is a line, I won't lie to you. It's worth it. They cook from scratch.!! No se arrepentirán. !! Ni eh mencionado la panadería que tienen.! yummy definitely coming back!!

Bee V.

Yelp
I love this restaurant , so far I've tried the tacos campechana , chilaquiles , and the megaqueca . I loved it all. The salsas are on point . All of them are tasty. Friendly customer service. Cashier was nice. Explained the different spice level on the salsas. The Ambience was great. You earned yourself a new happy customer.

Joan A.

Yelp
Just came across Tacoarte as I was driving by. After reading all the good reviews, I was curious about the food... so I went in one Wednesday and ordered beefsteak taco, and I really liked it. However, when I went back 2 days later for a chicken taco, I was not impressed... it didn't have as much filling as the beefsteak taco, and the hot sauce was left out. Since there was so much praise over the chiliquiles, I stopped by and ordered some today... again, I am very disappointed with them... I'm glad other people enjoyed their orders... but I will never return or acknowledge that place exists.

Andy H.

Yelp
Wow, found this place on Instagram because I love chilaquiles' This place did not disappoint. Got the green sauce with eggs over easy and chorizo. One of the best chilaquiles I've ever had in my life. Highly recommend this place. This is a rare gem in an area with many mexican restaurants. They should do well. I will be back!

Iris V.

Yelp
Best chilaquiles I've had in a while. I've had them both at the restaurant and to go. They took great care to package everything separately so chilaquiles would stay crispy when I had them at home.

Eddie V.

Yelp
Good and solid chilaquiles. Tried the green sauce ones. A bit spicy but not too spicy. I was hoping for spicier. Tables don't have salt and pepper or salsa and you have to get your coffee right next door. I wouldn't go out of my way for these chilaquiles but if I'm in the area, I would go back. And the staff was very nice!
