Dallas’ Biggest Dining Stories of 2018 | Eater Dallas

"Controversial restaurateur Paul Qui opened Tacqui, a Richardson taqueria, this spring while still awaiting trial on 2016 domestic violence charges; those charges were dropped days after Tacqui debuted in late April, but the restaurant closed in less than six months, and Qui said the domestic violence charges were affecting his ability to do business, though it’s unknown whether his past caused the failure." - Alaena Hostetter

I went for Taco Tuesday at Taqueria & Tamaleria Nuevo León and it was a pretty solid experience overall. I got the quesabirria, which was pretty good — cheesy, crispy, and flavorful enough to stand out. The place was packed when I went, but the service kept up surprisingly well given how busy it was. They have two sides — one focused on regular Mexican food and tacos, and another side dedicated to desserts, which was a nice touch. I also tried a few of the trompo and other tacos, and while they were decent, I felt like they could use a little more seasoning or kick to really stand out. Still, the vibe was fun, prices were fair, and I’d definitely give them another chance. I can see why people pack the place on Tuesdays.

Loveeeeeee it! I highly recommend this place. I live in Houston and when I come here this is my first stop! I'm originally from the 956 area and living so close to the border, you become really picky with Mexican food. This place is definitely authentic. You must try the Chicharrones, Menudo, and everything actually! Also stop by next door for the paletas. We need one of these spots in Houston ASAP! Juan, the manager and all the staff are so friendly and helpful.

Nice dual service restaurant. Food on the left… desserts on the right. The place was packed when we arrived with a line out the door. I wasn’t optimistic that this was going to be a good visit but I was wrong. To my surprise, we moved through the line to the front to order in 18 minutes. After sitting out on the patio, our food arrived in less than 10 minutes. It was delicious, but I ordered way too much. After dinner we went to the dessert side for a paleta. I had mango but was a little disappointed because the confection did not have a strong mango flavor… just a hint of mango.

JULY 3, 2025 I went with a friend who has eaten here several times. This was my 1st time here. It was very busy. They have outdoor seating as well. We had (1) Quesabirria Tacos Order with 4 tacos; (1) Taco Plate with 1 Trompo taco, 1 Barbacoa taco, and 1 Pollo / Chicken taco. They came with beans, grilled onions, regular onions, cilantro, hot peppers, lime wedges, and dipping sauce. We also had a small container of Queso / Grated Cheese. They came to our table a couple times to make sure that everything was ok. It was. Everything was delicious. Good food + good people who work here + good customer service = 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Google Reviews!

I have heard wonderful things about this place but have never tried it until today. We ordered one dozen pork, and one dozen cream cheese and jalepeno.. the cream cheese and jalepeno were dry. The flavor of the masa was so good but I couldn’t taste any cream cheese. The tamale was mainly masa. The pork tamale was ok. Either way I was super glad to get tamales in middle of summer, but for the price I was expecting them to taste better. I hope to try the tacos next time. My husband says the pastor looked good.

I hate to share my basket spot but this place is just so amazing. The food here is the best you can get. If you have never had there birria tacos you are missing out big time. Juan is always great, best service and super friendly. 10/10. Me and my wife moved to Oklahoma recently and this joint is going to be the only reason we make the drive back down!!

My favorite tacos until today were chilangos. Went in on my lunch break with my workers and it took a while to get our food but the Owner Tony brought us tamales while we waited. Olvidate guy. Tamales tasted like my mom made. t Tacos and gorditas bien chingonas. The owner Tony sat with us and asked if everything was up to par. New favorite taqueria. Should have taken the picture before I ate most of my food
