Taqueria de Diez - Review - South Lamar - Austin - The Infatuation

"This late-night taqueria is the second location from the same team—the originalis in an alleyway Downtown—and the menu has the same great tacos, volcanes, and quesadillas. Al pastor and carne asada share the spotlight here, but you can also get some great chicken and grilled cactus, plus grab-and-go desserts like flan and Mexican rice pudding." - Nicolai McCrary

10/10—Absolutely loved this location! I had visited the other location before and thought it was just okay, but this Lamar location completely won me over. The service is fantastic everyone is incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. The place is spotless, spacious, and has a great vibe. I ordered the cheese quesadilla with pastor (marinated chicken here), and it was absolutely delicious—100% recommend it. We also tried the tacos al pastor (marinated pork) and the volcán with asada, both super flavorful and authentic. As for the salsas: I highly recommend the strong green salsa it pairs perfectly with the tacos. I wouldn’t go for the red habanero one; it wasn’t spicy and didn’t really have much flavor. But the green salsa is a must! Service truly stood out. The person greeting customers was amazing very friendly, offering suggestions, answering questions, even bringing menus to the line. He even gifted me an arroz con leche, and it was delicious. The aguas frescas are great too definitely try the horchata. This spot lives up to its name a true 10/10. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Taqueria De Diaz on South Lamar is the second location here in Austin! This location is located directly off Lamar, centralized with a few other businesses. This location allows customers more parking autonomy than the downtown location. Parking here is a bit limited, depending on when you come but it is free! The food is just as amazing as the original location. Love how you order and are able to see an "Open Bay" view of them making your food. Highly recommend the Campechano Tacos (with Arne Asada and Al Pastor). Absolutely delicious! If you're wanting the best bang for your buck and to get full, the burrito is absolutely worth every penny. Huge filler and will leave you full! Service is always expedient and friendly. Seating is available for both inside and outside the establishment. Highly recommend for all my authentic taco/burrito/quesadilla lovers!

Definitely one of the top taco places in town. You can’t go wrong when a place has an al pastor trompo. First time at the new location and it continues to hit the spot at a high level. Tacos are delicious. Tried pollo for the first time. Great flavor with some of the charred taste. Al pastor slams hard! Highly recommend Al pastor for your first time. It’s great in a Volcán taco with the crispy corn tortilla. The salsas are great and spicy. Habaneros for sure. Don’t sweat it if there’s a line. Food is served quick. I’ve been to the downtown location at all kinds of odd hours and there’s a constant crowd there but it moves fast.

Hands down the best tacos in Austin. Every single taco is incredible—my favorite: the carne asada quesadilla . The salsas are absolutely spectacular!!! And the frozen margarita? Simply the best in town. A must-visit spot if you want truly amazing tacos and a great vibe. Can’t wait to come back!

This spot gets really busy but once you find parking its well worth it. The service is quick and friendly. They were playing upbeat Latin music which created a nice vibe. The spot is clean! There is plenty of seating including bar seating indoors. I tried the asada quesadilla and volcan. The volcan is similar to a chalupa it was well made just not my jam. The star for me was the quesadilla on flour. That flour tortilla melted in my mouth! Im not certain what type of cheese they used but it was so creamy and delicious. The asada was tender and the green sauce took it to the level. I highly recommend the quesadilla. The prices are very reasonable. Heads up there is an automatic 10% service charge. Cards only cash not accepted. I will definitely return as this makes my top 3 for quesadilla spots.

L-O-V-E the tacos. Love. Have been waiting for this place to open and we went today for lunch. It is fantastic. If you have eaten in Mexico City it is very authentic to the atmosphere, food and service. All 10 out of 10. The pastor tacos were incredible and the pollo tacos were out of this world. So very excited that they are open and that they are good!! Can't wait to try the Nopal and the Carne Asada next time.

One of the best-tasting tacos I've ever had... everything is very well made and tastes great... the service is a little faster at the downtown location... but it doesn't detract from your experience of trying some great tacos in Austin, TX... highly recommended!!! 🌮

Friendly staff, delicious and authentic food. There is limited bar style seating inside but tables outside. I’m originally from Los Angeles and this is the most authentic tacos I’ve had here in Austin.
