All Four Atlanta Taqueria Del Sol Locations Temporarily Close Due to COVID-19 | Eater Atlanta

"All four Atlanta locations were temporarily closed effective immediately, with the Athens location also remaining closed, after the owners announced on Facebook that they expected a peak in COVID-19 cases in the coming week. The restaurants had already shuttered their dining rooms in mid-March and been offering takeout only at sites on Howell Mill Road, Cheshire Bridge Road, and in Chamblee and Decatur; the team was contacted about how many employees are affected and whether staff would be furloughed or laid off but no reopening date for takeout has been provided." - Beth McKibben

Absolutely disappointed in the staff at this location. My husband and I have enjoyed this restaurant chain for years, but after last night, I don’t know if we’ll be returning. I recently broke my leg and am on crutches with an aircast. My husband arrived about 10 minutes before me to buy a drink and waters so he could secure a table for us, saving me from having to stand in line. After I arrived and sat down, my husband promptly joined the food line. Within minutes, one of their team members came over and told me I needed to get up from my table and sit on a bench until my husband had ordered our food—because of their “system.” I’m very familiar with how their restaurant works, and that’s exactly why my husband purchased beverages before ordering—so we could get a table. I politely explained that my leg was broken and my husband was already in line, assuming she hadn’t noticed the boot on my leg, my bright pink crutches leaning against the wall, or the drinks on the table we had already purchased. Instead of showing understanding, she repeated herself and again told me to move to a bench. At that moment, my crutches were out of reach, I had my crossbody purse, two waters, and my husband’s Ranch Water on the table. Even if I could grab my crutches, I couldn’t have carried everything by myself. My husband was now third in line. She walked away, and suddenly, multiple tables around me were cleared—five in total. I’m not sure if it was coincidence or if other guests overheard the conversation. She then returned to tell me it “wasn’t a big deal” anymore because more tables had opened up. I have NEVER been treated this way in my life. This experience was humiliating, and it showed a complete lack of empathy or basic ADA awareness. I would hate to think how they would treat someone with a permanent disability. This company seriously needs to invest in ADA and coustomer service training for its staff.

I’m here to tell y’all, this Taqueria has the best collards in the South. I originally came here a few years ago, bc I was inspired by the cookbook. I met one of the business partners last time in Atlanta . This time, I had to come back to give a review. The tacos are mostly 8.5, only y’all know that cost/protein ratio is a tad higher. But they’re excellent, you could eat 27 of them. But they’re collards man, as a black guy this is where I’m coming to get some for thanksgiving.

No complimentary chips!!!! Fist time I have been at a Mexican restaurant and not had complimentary. Interior is nice but a bit sterile. You order at a counter and food is bought out to you. Food quality is excellent, but a little small. Soft drinks are served by the can do no complimentary refills. Nice bar area and outdoor seating. I had a carnita taco and beef red chili and my wife a brisket taco. Parking seems to be an issue just about all the time. I’m not crazy about tipping when you “counter order”, especially when the offer you percentages.

Modern building, can have long lines. Amazing food! Many of the members of the staff you can see every time you go there. The patio is pretty nice. One of the best Mexican places.

Okay, I admit I've put off going to Taqueria del Sol in favor of what I deem more authentic tacos places along south Chamblee-Dunwoody and Buford Highway. While very bourgie, I found the food product high quality and flavorful. The tacos are made with flour tortillas which is common in the north of Mexico like Sonora and Chihuahua. I alway try carnitas as an initial test. Here they were juicy and tender. A bit salty, but tasty. I liked the brisket taco too. These tacos are alway lightly dressed so you can really taste rmeat. The guacamole was made with nice big chunks of avocado and modest amounts of fillers and seasoning. $15 for lunch is reasonable, but most of my other favs charge about $3 a taco and here they are $4. The place is popular and busy at lunch. Don't let the line put you off, it moves quickly. You order, sit and food is brought to you. Bright, clean with basic deco. Try the "blue plate" its usually a good deal at $11.

I got really lucky with their luch special. The meatloaf looks good but it tasted even better. Which is why I went for a round 2! They need to have it more often!

Google
The food is ALWAYS excellent. This is a great spot if you need a quick bite. You have to order first then sit down so if you want to be waited on you have to sit at the bar. Because this is the only place you can get waited on it is always full. This location is good for groups, and there is actually a couple of big tables. They have gluten free designations on the menu. They have a kids menu but no high chairs. I usually order 2 enchiladas which is enough to fill up on. Chips and salsa do not automatically come with the meal, so you would need to order them. They have inside and outside seating.

Google
SHRINKFLATION. LITERALLY USED TACO SHELL FOR AN ENCHILLADA Very unreliable, counting on Togo orders. Unfortunate to see how rude and cocky a restaurant management becomes when they become popular. They will decide when they want to answer phones to take orders and when they don't want to. In this pandemic, it's not acceptable to stand in line with 20 other people. THEY ARE MORE INTERESTED IN EXPANSION WITH MORE LOCATIONS BUT REFUSE TO IMPROVE THEIR SERVICE. Their attitude for phone orders before was a turn off already. The parking lot is a big mess, most of the spots say compact cars only. I'm going to have to disagree with other reviews about how convenient it is to place the orders. The original location might be the only place so far with better service. There was hardly anyone in line when I tried ahead of time for a Togo order and then saying experiencing heavy call volume to take phone orders.

Yelp
My mouth was wowed so 5 stars for this place! But we are still dumb founded as to why there's always a crowd here. Like starting around early dinner time (~5 PM), there will be a line forming outside. And it's still there even close to 8 ish. Even our friends have commented that there's always a line when they drive by. We came around 4 ish to 5 ish on a Friday, and the wait wasn't too terrible: 30 mins. If you like Tex Mex style food, this is THE SPOT. There's just a unique flair to this place that just can't be described. It's Mexican food that appears simple but with a uniqueness. There's something here that has families and their kids coming in waves. IYKYK. The hubs and I shared a couple of things. At first we thought we weren't going to be full, but the items we choose to sample actually put us at a very content level. Shrimp corn chowder: It was so creamy with a slick kick because of the jalapenos. A very delightful little soup to get if you're into a more thick or cream based soup. It was small but a hearty pick. Chef's dinner special: This was a really unique item. The chicken and mushroom were barely noticeable as I forgot what the protein/main ingredient were. The sauce on the side and Mexican rice just made it the perfect combo. The shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes provided a freshness to the dish. It's like one of those platters you'd get like at El Sombrero that has the rice and refried beans with a boat-load of sauce, for instance, enchilada. It's like that but better. Taco: The Memphis taco was so so IMO. It was sizable but wasn't something I dug. Maybe it was the spicy jalapeno coleslaw or the tequila BBQ sauce that didn't wow my taste buds. It was a unique ish item, but the flavors didn't jive with me. And it wasn't spicy even with the jalapeno. I think it was the BBQ sauce for me (I'm not a fan of a strong BBQ flavor profile). Enchilada: Is this saucy thing crack?! It was so delightfully saucy, cheesy, and flavorful. It tasted like what it looks like: yumminess. It's the opposite of wholesome but then again you're at a Mexican spot. The beef brisket with lemon cream was unique and screams flavor as you ingest it. I should have gotten more than one. Doh. We will come here again?! Perhaps if I can convince the hubs to go early enough to avoid the crowd. But things actually move pretty quickly as you queue up to order then find a seat and wait for the food to come out (which wasn't too long of a wait).

Yelp
Consistently excellent for several years now, TDS Chamblee is firmly on our regular rotation. The staff is awesome, fast and friendly and always accurate in locating customers and delivering the right food. The restaurant is very clean and well looked after. The simple rules are effective at keeping things moving; you can be in and out within 45 minutes, even when there's a long line. Just don't take a table until your party has ordered, and there's always enough seating for everyone. We absolutely love the team here, and choose to sit at the bar when there's just two of us. But please, don't try and grab an empty seat - they have a finely tuned waitlist, so please put your name down and wait your turn. The weekly specials are always interesting, especially the chicken entrees and cheeseburger taco, but the always-on Fried Chicken Taco is outstanding.

Diana H.

Yelp
My friend and I go there frequently. Their enchiladas with lemon cream sauce is so delicious we are not able to try anything else - add a salad with their homemade ranch dressing and you'll go back a lot. I hope they will eventually sell the dressing, it's that good. I wish they would open one in Dunwoody. I will mention the trains run close by so it can get loud if you sit on the outside area. Food is worth it!

Yelp
Always good tacos at any location I have tried. I have been eating at Taqueria del Sol for, at least, fifteen years

Yelp
it's not the best, but it's really good . the specials can be some of the absolute best and freshest food around for.. $13. Yeah go to Superica, pay $48 for tacos or go to Pure and get some dry wall Carnita Taco's. literally wrote the review as the bad reviews here are the most pathetic i've seen in 15+ years on yelp. textbook people seeing a place that's had hype and a line at every location for 20+ years and have to lift themselves up with a bad review
google avatar

Yelp
Taqueria del Sol has got to be one of my favorite taco places in Atlanta and I make a point to try to visit every time I'm in town. Cake with a group on a Tuesday evening and the line was out the door which is expected for TDS but I wasn't thinking for a weekday. Guac, salsa trio, and queso are always a must. I love the fried chicken and veggie tacos and the enchiladas are also delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
Always good. You wait in line to order at the counter. That's always the longest part. By the time you get to your table after you've ordered, the food is delivered within minutes. Very casual environment. Good for lunch and dinner, for small groups and large groups. The queso and guacamole are always delicious. I always get two tacos: the Memphis, but I sub brisket for the pork, and the Fried Chicken, but I add cheese. Their margaritas are suuuuper good. The move is to get a pitcher and share with your table! Good food for cheap!

Ross W.

Yelp
People rating this below 5 stars are nuts. This is an incredible place that consistently performs every time. Try the specials but the fried chicken taco is undefeated. Staff is awesome just follow the rules and be a good human

Yelp
Place is god awful. If you go to the bar, you can't order food to go. Literally wouldn't accept my money for food. Wouldn't go back there if they paid me. Joke of a "business"

Dana S.

Yelp
Food was cold. No flavor at all. This has been a favorite for years and was quite disappointing. Even the margarita was watered down. TERRIBLE.

Yelp
Tacos are fine. Drinks are ok. Staff seemed rude and bothered by us. Many rules about when and how you can't get a table. I'm not someone who writes just bad reviews, most are positive. I just don't get the hype here. Pay to wait and be treated like I'm bothering them.

Yelp
I decided to stop in and grab a quick bite to eat while I was waiting for my tires to be fixed at the Discount Tire across the street. When I stepped inside, it was nice and cool. The noise level was OK, not too loud, not too quiet. The decor was modern, but not that attractive- more spartan. The tables are all metal (probably stainless steel), and some are higher than other with tall chairs. The seating looked comfy enough with the cushioning. There were no booths. There was a fully stocked bar, but it seems that they don't do fountain drinks- rather, they sell cans of soda (coke). They also had their own brand of lemonade at the register. It was packed with people and there was a line at the counter. The staff seemed friendly enough though. I stood in line for about 8 minutes, and during about 3 of those minutes we were just waiting on the people in front of us to make an order. However, I wasn't paying attention to their conversation and hadn't noticed that they were told they'd have to wait for a table before they could order. A rather inconsiderate lady behind me, rather than ask me, walked around me and past the people at the counter- then asked the girl at the register what the hold-up was, that she was just here for a To-Go order, and then (again, ignoring me) turned to the people in front of me and asked if it was OK that she go ahead of them and make her order. So rude. I was a little annoyed that the girl at the register hadn't considered asking any of us if we were waiting on the same thing, but I waited until she finished her order and walked away, then poked my head around the group in front of me and said, "I'm actually here for a To-Go order as well." So, she took my order and it took about 7 minutes to prepare afterwards. I don't dock any points for that- it's a little absent-minded, but it happens. If I could take 1/2 a point, that's what I would do. (Which would make my real rating a 2.5) The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't really good either. It was stuff I could make at home. The BLT taco was the best thing I had, but the bacon was SUPER salty and while it was nice and crunchy and worked with everything else, they could easily take it up a huge notch just switching to a better brand with less sodium preservatives/nitrates and then seasoning the bacon with chipotle, red pepper, onion powder, garlic, white pepper, herb mixes, bbq, or other sauces. The tomatoes were basic and so was the iceberg lettuce. Another way that they could amp up their food is by cooking their own tortillas- these were clearly premade. Although, the overall flavor was a BLT with just a hint of spiciness- so there must have been a little pepper in there somewhere. The fried chicken taco was a fried chicken strip, and while the meat was good quality, on its own, the chicken strip didn't really have anything going for it. It wasn't particularly crunchy or seasoned specially...just a bland chicken strip. Same tortilla, tomatoes, and iceberg lettuce as the other taco. The Brisket Enchilada with red chili sauce was disappointing. The "brisket" was really just pot roast beef- not bad, but not at all what I consider to be brisket and it was not smoky or fatty- just roast-beefy. The red chili sauce was actually chili. Ground beef with (poblano?) peppers and tomatoes in a tomato-based sauce with chili seasoning. Honestly, it was a step up from a canned chili- but only just barely. They had some outdoor seating where they had fans going, keeping a nice breeze under the awning, which was nice. However, they also kept the door propped open, which was letting in flies and other insects. For $15 (after tip), it wasn't bad, but it wasn't particularly good either. I probably wouldn't eat here again, but maybe something else on the menu is better? I'd be willing to give them another shot...maybe as a dine-in customer getting a cocktail or something. (The margarita on the rocks looked tasty).

Yelp
Always a good time at Taqueria Del Sol. I'm a fan of their crowd pleasers. The fish taco will rock your socks off. The fried chicken taco is always a winner. And the shrimp-corn chowder is simply a lovely way to cap off a meal. These are my go-tos, though occasionally there will be a special on the menu that catches my eye. OH! And the guacamole. I need more of that, please. Some people get bent out of shape that TDS is called a "Mexican" restaurant. They're simply upset that they can't get a #3 combo with refried beans and a churro. If that's what you want, go somewhere else. What you'll get at TDS is freshly prepared food, excellent tacos, chunky guacamole... My only complaint is that parking can sometimes be challenging, as TDS can get busy during the lunch hour. But the service is efficient, and the food is delicious. I am going back for some guac. Holler if you're coming with.

David D.

Yelp
Food fine. But what is the point of having a phone # if you never answer. Can't count the amount of times i've tried to call ahead and bailed because they don't answer the phone. It's 2025. People order take out. Restaurants make money. Can't be the only one...

Yelp
The bald bartender that works here is not very pleasant. It would not hurt him to be nice instead of angry for no reason. It's a taco joint dude.

Yelp
Super busy even though it was a Wednesday night. Not the type of place I'll go out of my way to go to but I was with a group who recommended the place. You have to place your order before seating when you walk in. I had no idea. I wasn't too tempted by their selection so I only ordered the salsa trio with sides of rice, pork and green pepper chili, as well as the charro beans. Enjoyed the salsas. A little spoiled from getting them complimentary at most restaurants but wasn't mad having to pay for what I got. The rice was undercooked which was a little disappointing but the pork chili was veryyyy good. I would be happy with just that mixed with rice. The charro beans didn't really have any beans but had plenty of pork. Bar was open and looked well stocked. Drinks were well made. A decent place to grab a drink and hang out with friends. Staff were pleasant and respectful throughout our visit.

Yelp
Terrible service from a flippant bartender. Food was also less than stellar. Never spending a dime on that place again.
google avatar

Lilliana C.

Yelp
Taqueria del Sol consistently has good food and service, however be prepared to wait in line for at least 30 mins before ordering at the counter. Ordering a drink at the bar to sip on while you wait in line definitely makes the time pass quicker. While Taq is always crowded, there's somehow always a table open after you've ordered. Plenty of seating indoors or on the covered patio, which is my favorite spot. As for food, they have a great selection of tacos/enchiladas, quality queso/guac/salsas, and the new chef's special every week keeps things fun!

Yelp
We love TDS. A cutesy date night spot, meeting with friend or grabbing a quick drink. Definitely a quirky place to add to your ATL eats list!

Jasmine R.

Yelp
There is a reason there is a line out the door when they open. The food is consistently good and quick. You may have to wait in line a little bit by the time you order and sit down, your queso and chips are coming to the table. Enchiladas are my favorite! Get the red chili sauce and the lemon cream sauce over chicken enchilada, divine I'm never disappointed and nothing else has given me that Tex mex vibe I love with speed and precision. This place deserves 5 stars!

Yelp
A fairly decent experience at a fast casual restaurant. I met up with a few newly acquired acquaintances here for a let's get to know you meal. At arrival there was a decently long line with a reasonable wait. A wait long enough for you to decide what to order (menus available at the door when you walk in) but not so long that you starve while waiting. There wasn't much for me to choose from - MY issue NOT their issue. I quickly decided on the Seafood Dinner Special. I was a little bummed that there was no substitute for the rice...lucky for me I could get the BLT Special naked. Once our whole group ordered we snagged a readily available table. I'm not sure how much time passed before the food arrived -- we were all so busy chatting but I really don't think that it took that long given our party size. Everyone's order arrived correctly. The food was pretty decent. I gave a little thought to ordering a second naked BLT but then decided against it. I enjoyed my meal. It may not be high on my list of places to dine again (due to self imposed limitations), the food was good and worthy of exploring at least once.

Yelp
Great place for families and couples we were treated very, very well! The service is efficient and quality with ordering is minutes!! My mouth is still watering! I can't wait to try the Nashville Taqueria in Nashville tomorrow!!

Yelp
Economic times have made the specials less special than they had been several years ago, but TDS is one of the most consistent eateries around in quality and service. The long standing lineup of tacos holds strong, and don't miss the chile relleno when they're available. Suggestion: Enough with the tilapia seafood specials! Find another fish, and charge what you must.

Nicholas R.

Yelp
Amazing. Expect a wait but it's always worth it. Sit outside during the spring/summer and you won't regret it. We've been 50+ times.

Yelp
R and I came here this evening for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic started. I thought it was sad how that the leadership was forced by Covid-19 to make what I thought were drastic logistical and physical changes in order to both stay in business and keep employees and customers safe and healthy. Inside dining is currently not allowed. All bar chairs and main dining room tables and chairs were moved, making the space look smaller. Making these changes allows customers to social distance themselves while they wait in line. Dining in the covered patio is currently allowed, with many tables and chairs removed, again allowing for customers to social distance while eating. Tables, chairs and umbrellas to shield them from sun and rain have also been moved to part of the parking lot closest to the restaurant, allowing for dining "al fresco." There are two lines for customers: one line, for take out pick up of orders for customers who called in their orders ahead, leads to the bar, and the other line, for customers ordering for either take out or dining in, leads to the cash register on the far right side of the restaurant. When our order was ready, about 20 minutes after we ordered, one of the employees called R's name out and placed our bagged food on a table that had utensils on it. R told him that our order wasn't a take out order, and the employee explained that they bag all the food as if they were take out orders, regardless of where it's eaten. Apparently, the employees don't directly hand the food to the customers. R picked up the bagged food and brought it to our table that we selected in the patio. At the time, we were the only ones who were in the patio. While we were there, only one other table in the patio was in use. None of the parking lot tables were being used the entire time we were at the restaurant. There are a few benches to sit at outside while you wait for your food, with one bench close to the doors and the other two taking up a parking space in the parking lot. One thing that I like about this restaurant (which is part of a chain) is that there are daily special meals for both lunch and dinner. Otherwise, everything is ordered a la carte. I wish they had regular meal combinations. You can get nickel and dimed here by ordering your appetizer (soup, chili or chips and dips), entree (dinner specials, tacos or enchiladas), sides (rice, beans, turnip greens, coleslaw or salad), and drinks (water from the dispenser, bottled drinks and alcoholic drinks). I got two carnitas enchiladas (made with corn tortillas and topped with melted cheese) with green chili sauce and Mexican rice. R got three carnitas tacos with cilantro, onions and salsa frita. One thing that I noticed about my meal was that everything was spicy, at what I would consider a medium spice level which is spicier than mild. The enchiladas were small, and had a nice amount of tender pork in them for being small. There was less pork flavor and more spiciness. I wish the enchiladas were bigger, with more meat that have a much bolder flavor. This is definitely a limited Mexican menu that is more gourmet than authentic. Parking in the big free parking lot was easy to find.

Yelp
A good casual spot for Mexican food! I really enjoy their queso. They are pretty affordable and have quick service. Definitely would recommend.

Yelp
We had an A-OK experience at this Taqueria del Sol location in Chamblee. I give it 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 because of the good service and COVID-19 safety measures put into place. These guys were doing it right. At the time we dined here, indoor dine-in wasn't allowed. All seating had been removed from the dining room. However, patio seating was allowed and it was packed, but socially-distant packed. Patio seating was reduced so tables could be spread further apart. Some tables were even moved out into the parking lot, forming a sort of makeshift extended patio. The main patio is covered and the parking lot patio had umbrellas for shade. We visited on a Wednesday evening and there was a short, socially-distant line out the door. There was an employee who enforced social distancing measures. For example, he made sure the line was orderly, controlled the flow of customers into the restaurant, and he made sure crowding didn't occur. He did a good job and I appreciated him keeping us safer. All orders were packed to-go and placed on a table for contactless pick-up. No bags of food were handed directly from employee to customer. On the patio, there was a roll of paper towels and a spray bottle with disinfectant if customers wanted to spray and wipe down their tables and chairs before sitting down to eat. Staff cleaned as well. All in all, I thought Taqueria del Sol did a pretty good job; better than a lot of restaurants during this pandemic. A couple improvements they could make: (1) Hand one-use disposable/recyclable menus to those standing in line or let them know menus can be accessed online. During our visit, a limited number of paper menus were shared between people waiting in line. (2) Don't require signatures for payment. As far as I could tell, every paying customer was using the same pen to sign their receipt. At the time of writing this review, there are seven Taqueria del Sol locations in Georgia and Tennessee (five in GA). I believe Westside is the original location. It's been there for at least 20 years. Lines are the norm, but they move at a reasonable pace; that was our experience at this location as well. This location is relatively new, having opened in June 2017 at Peachtree Station, the shopping center with Whole Foods. This location has got a good-looking, bright, open, airy, and polished space with exposed ceilings and a bar. The atmosphere is light and casual. This is a good place to grab an affordable Mexican meal and drinks with friends. When we visited for dinner, the menu consisted of a few specials such as Crispy Rellenos ($5.99 each) and Green Chile Pot Pie ($9.99). Chips and dip are popular here ($3.29-4.59 each). There were six tacos on the menu ($2.39-2.89 each) as well as $3.69 enchiladas and sides like rice and refried beans ($2.39 each). The drink menu was fairly extensive. In addition to beer and wine, they served liquor, mezcal, and tequila (over 50 kinds of tequila). My friends got house margaritas ($6.50 each) and they looked decent. They were made with Jose Cuervo Tradicional Reposado, triple sec, and sour mix. I ordered one of every taco except for the Veggie Bean taco. They were: * Memphis ($2.79) - chopped smoked pork with spicy jalapeno coleslaw and tequila BBQ sauce * Brisket ($2.89) - shredded beef brisket with pico de gallo * Fried Chicken ($2.69) - fried chicken strips with lime jalapeno mayonnaise, lettuce, and tomato * Carnita ($2.69) - twice-cooked tender pork with salsa frita, cilantro, and onions * Fish ($2.89) - tilapia dipped in egg wash, rolled in corn masa and bread crumbs, and deep-fried; served with poblano tartar sauce and pickled jalapenos In general, the tacos were tasty, filling, and they hit the spot. I think I ordered one too many, but I wanted one of each. I'd rank 'em as follows: 1. Brisket 2. Fish 3 (tie). Memphis 3 (tie). Carnita 5. Fried Chicken I'd order all of these tacos again, even the Fried Chicken despite ranking it last. All of the tacos were served on single-layer flour tortillas. They held up well, for the most part. There was some sogginess and breakage on the saucier tacos. As mentioned previously, all orders were packed for takeout. In this case, each taco was individually wrapped in foil. The Brisket taco was just terrific. It was packed with lots of moist, flavorful brisket and fresh pico. Yummy. Taqueria del Sol's Fish taco is pretty solid. Of Taqueria del Sol's tacos, it's my wife's favorite. She always gets it at the Westside and Cheshire Bridge locations. The Fish taco at this Chamblee location was on par. Comfort food. I'd put the Memphis and Carnita tacos in my next tier. Both were meaty, satisfying tacos. The Memphis was like eating Southern BBQ pork in taco form. The salsa frita (fried salsa) in the Carnita taco had good flavor and went well with the meat. As for the Fried Chicken taco, it tasted exactly how it sounds. It's straightforward except for the mayo which is a bit of a game-changer. Good stuff.

Yelp
Came here for a quick lunch and it didn't disappoint. It was pretty busy but we still were able to order and sit down within 10 minutes. The food came to our table very quickly and everything was really good. Brisket taco is definitely the best. Good chips and queso too. Definitely will be coming back!

Yelp
This location is close to my office. They are quick, great service, decent ambiance and good food!

Yelp
Some of the reviews commented on not being able to sit down before ordering or the table service not being attentive. But if you've been to a Taq before, this is how they run. I've been to Cheshire bridge taq, Howell mill taq, Nashville taq, Decatur taq, and now Brookhaven taq. All 5/5 stars. I can guarantee you that once you place your order, there will be a table ready for you. Trust the process. They know what they're doing. Also, I bet that you'll have your food delivered to your table within 5-10 minutes of sitting down. The food is always reliable too. I could drink their queso and eat their tacos every day.

Yelp
Loved this local chain for decades. The Memphis taco is my favorite. The Collards are delicious but fire spicy! Nice staff and a good vibe . Chairs are ok but not padded . (Tush factor 2)

Yelp
This is among the top Mexican restaurants I've ever been to. They incorporate Southern and Southwestern cuisine for a unique taste. All the food we ordered was delicious: * guacamole - fresh with the perfect amount of chunkiness * chips - thin and not too salty * tacos - well-stuffed, and the pork in particular was very tender * enchilada - cheesy & tasty, and the pork green chili sauce was really flavorful * refried beans - less mashed than I'm used to but still good I like the fast-casual style, and the employees were super attentive. They manage to locate you without needing a number at your table. Try to get here before the dinner rush. My friend and I arrived around 6 PM on a Tuesday. By the time we left, the whole restaurant was packed.

Yelp
I agree with a few of the yelpers here on 1) The operating hours of Taqueria Del Sol. Not just at this location. I have visited this location, the one off Cheshire Bridge and Howell Mill, they were closed when they were supposed to be open. 2) The long wait. The line is just insanely long. SERVICE 3/5 Staff who took our order was extremely friendly! I wish there are two counters taking orders to speed up the ordering process and reduce the long wait. The poor guy has to handle so many customers. He deserves a 5 stars, but the management can definitely do something to improve the waiting time to order. FOOD 5/5 Food came out really fast. I ordered the fried chicken and fish tacos. Both were very good! The portion is on the smaller side but perfect for me. In fact I was so full after just the two tacos. The cheese dip was good as well. AMBIENCE 3/5 It was alright! The good thing about this place is every customer is supposed to secure a seat only after placing an order. Whether everyone follows the "rule" is another story. However, looks like no one was trying to find a seat after placing an order. My biggest gripe about this place was not the long line aka the longest wait, but the parking. This whole area was not well planned. Finding a parking spot on a Monday for lunch was a pain. I was not sure what the planner for this strip mall was thinking. Placing Starbucks, Zoe's kitchen, Chipotle and this restaurant on one end? Then again trying to find a spot on the other end of the strip mall was almost impossible. I pity those who need to come here to do grocery. I would never want to drive my car here. Parking spots are so tight.

Yelp
My favorite place to celebrate any occasion - birthdays, anniversaries, Wednesdays! My favorite is the nutty shrimp special taco, but also have the cheese enchilada with the beef red chili and a brisket taco.

Yelp
Sorry, just a 3 stars from me. I actually love the Athens location and the food there never disappointed me. The tacos here are about as far from authentic as you can get, but they are still good and interesting combinations. I would actually give it less stars, since I had a pretty bad stomach ache after this, but I do enjoy this chain (5 locations) as a whole. The margaritas here are a must. I get one every time I come here. I also got a fried chicken taco (fried chicken strip, jalapeño mayo, lettuce, and tomato). This one isn't as good as the ones I've had in Athens. The chicken strip was kind of dry and there was really little sauce, so the whole taco was dry. This taco is usually my favorite but I was underwhelmed by this one. I also got the fish taco (tilapia rolled in corn masa and bread crumbs, poblano tartar sauce, pickled jalapeños). It was basically like a fish stick and tartar sauce in a tortilla lol. It actually tasted pretty good! It was less dry than the fried chicken taco, but still could have used more sauce. We also got the chips and guac. Guac is also better in Athens. This lacked a little flavor but I still enjoyed it. Bf got the Brisket and Memphis tacos. He likes the brisket more. He also got the Mexican rice which we liked. I would probably recommend 3 tacos if you are hungry (4 if you are really hungry). 2 tacos is more of a light meal. Every location, the line is super long. This place is always busy! However, it does move fast. You then order at the front and sit down at a table. You'll get your food served shortly. Location is in a busy plaza so there is a parking lot, but it may be busy. Only reason I had to take off stars was because I had a terrible stomach ache after eating here. I never had a stomach ache eating here before, and I have eaten a lot of weird things and not gotten stomach aches this bad (seriously, I love unique food and eat almost everything with no pain). The only thing new that I ordered this time was the fish taco. I'm pretty sure the fish taco gave me this stomach pain. I get the chips/guac/fried chicken taco all the time and no problems. The fried chicken taco is also one of their most popular tacos, so many people get them and have no problems. The fish taco might be less popular, so it was likely bad or was sitting out for too long. Anyways, this severely marred an overall good experience at a restaurant that I like. I would probably still recommend it, but brace yourself for non-authentic Mexican tacos and stay away from the fish taco.

Yelp
"Thanks, have a nice weekend." No, no.... "Thanks so much, talk Monday." Yea fine, that'll work. Last email sent, time for the weekend. "Good Italian food Brookhaven" neh, I literally just ate a lean cuisine spaghetti two nights ago. "Mexican restaurants Brookhaven" *search* Taqueria what? Sol? Sun Taco? Sure, why not. It was about a 7 minute drive and the tacos looked good. As the "fuel reserve" dash message lights up, I'm turning into the Parking lot. Is Taylor swift signing autographs? Is Dwayne Johnson giving push up tutorials? Why is there a line around the block? Sweet mother of Moses, it was for taqueria! I park....after an 8-point turn in the tight compact marked parking spaces. And make my way up to this tokyo central station line of people. I got in line, guessing I was lucky number 467. Had a minute to mull over the menu. The cream sauce stood out to me. "Lemon cream" on an enchilada? Was this Paris? The creativity was already jumping out at me. After about 30 minutes in line, I was at the gates of heaven. "What would you like?" The nice lady at the front said. I kinda panicked...lot of pressure with all the people behind me. "Two chicken enchiladas with lemon cream sauce.....uhhhh...and a house margarita on the rocks please" After a couple of lackluster levels of candy crush, my food was delivered. It looked good, ascetically at least. I dig in and hit that chicken and viscous lemon cream sauce. WHAT? Wtf? It was like Ghandi resurrected himself and fed me enlightenment in a Tex-mex version. It felt like Jack was allowed on Rose's floating door and he survived at the end of Titanic. It was like Biden finished a sentence. It was like Leo won an Oscar for Wolf of Wall Street and didn't have to wait for a pity award for The Revenant. What was I doing? Why did I wait so long. I walked in like Shia LeBouf in his downfall and walked out a sober Brad Pitt. This place is it. Don't walk, run here.

Yelp
I like the rules. You must place your order before you sit down. Not to much to ask and makes things flow much easier. Their margaritas are some of the best in town. The enchiladas .the tacos and the shrimp corn bisque are so good.Mike and his team do a great job. Please don't change a thing.

Yelp
Lemon cream? What fresh hell is this??? This is a far cry from anything close to Mexican food...avoid at all cost.

Yelp
This is a great restaurant for quick, fair priced food and an easy place to alone or with a group. If alone, I sit at the food bar and always get a personal wait person except one guy they should fire. The tocos come out very fast and are always good. They have a toco salad with brisket or chicken which is very good that is not on the menu. It is a noisy restaurant and nothing to soften the noises but otherwise perfect for what type of place it is.

Yelp
Always a delicious meal at Taqueria del Sol! Salsa trio is a must and my favorite entree is the chicken enchilada with lemon cream sauce. Trust me- it's amazing!

Yelp
This location is terrible and frankly the entire chain is so overrated. We went today the second they opened with a baby - of course no high chairs - what? So, being the only tex mex place in town actively turning away families, my wife was berated by I assume manager for sitting at a table while I ordered with the baby in a stroller. She was told to leave the table for other customers - there was NO ONE THERE.. We left. As did a few other families in line. Also, bad attitudes aside, the margaritas are a mix and generally terrible. Go to any other place around - Pure, Superica, This place will go down eventually.

Yelp
Came here cause I was across the street starving at discount tires lol! The walk wasn't bad at all FYI. I heard a lot about the queso here but didn't try it this time. Its right next to menchies and Starbucks in a parking lot. Entered and walked up to order. I got two veggie and bean tacos. They were good! And for the price I'm not gonna complain. It was mostly a bean and cheese taco. I didn't taste any veggies with it, which is fine by me lol! The sauce with it was good. It had a tang to it. It wasn't spicy at all but it was flavorful so I didn't need heat to it. So due to COVID, they're doing things differently I guess. Walk up to order, then go to the patio or parking lot to wait. Orders are bagged and they call out your name. I was early so I found seating on patio. But I can imagine it can get crowded. TLDR: veggie and bean tacos Tacos: Texan approved

Yelp
Always impressed by their tacos. They come out quickly and are delicious. The specials add a bit of variety to the otherwise small menu. However you can not make any changes to a special taco. You can make modifications to a normal taco, ie taning things off of it to make it simpler. Expect to wait in line for maybe 30 minutes even on a week night but like I said, once you sit, the food comes out quite quickly. It seems they don't always have frozen margaritas. From what I can tell, only on the weekends? Also make sure to get a cup for water when you order and fill it up yourself before you sit down. FYI- dogs are not allowed on the outdoor patio. 3/5 stars for that consistently delicious tacos but not rating it higher due to the long waits in line and lack of modifications.

Yelp
I'm not sure what to say about this place other than skip it and go to Verde or Takorea if you want really good tacos. We used to go to the West Midtown location all the time back in the day because it was unique, maybe the other taquerias caught up and passed them. We had the brisket taco - not great, the chicken tacos - fine, and the fish taco which was the best of the three, sadly the rice and beans were the best thing we had. I know a lot of people love Taqueria del Sol but overall it's now just ok compared to their local competitors.

Yelp
Food is decent. Service is sub par. Skinny marg is super sour, I complained and they would do nothing. I'm no bartender but can't you add some simple syrup? I regret tipping 20%. That's the problem with tipping before you get food. Poor yelp reviews don't seem to impact the number of diners. Antiguo lobo in Chamblee has much better food, drinks and service.

Yelp
I am from Mexico and I love their tacos and all of the food on their menu. However, it really bothers me that they don't have one single chair for babies. I went with my grandson and I had to eat with him on my lap. They could be a little more friendly toward children. Children are the best little people on this troubled world!

Jim R.

Yelp
I've been eating their fish tacos and their fried chicken tacos for many many years. Consistently excellent. It's just the service could be faster. Everybody has always extremely nice.

Yelp
I love this place soooo much! The food is absolutely yummy and priced so low that it is hard to believe the quality! The place is always packed and everyone always seems psyched to be there. Service is always friendly and fast.
