"With locations in 12 South and on Charlotte on the Westside, the Atlanta-based taco joint serves a solid bowl of white queso. They use the standard Land O’Lakes extra melt American cheese, which is melted down with pickled jalapenos, then garnished with more fresh chopped jalapenos, adding an extra kick not found in many Nashville bowls of queso." - Delia Jo Ramsey

Absolutely fabulous food. We moved to Nashville from Athens, GA which is where Taqueria del Sol originated. We always loved Taqueria del Sol in Athens because the quality of the food is top notch plus it is super fast! The food almost comes out faster than you can find your table. The margaritas are super fresh and refreshing. The perfect cocktail to have over lunch. My favorite dish is the fish tacos and I tell them to add slaw on it or on the side. The chips are always fresh and the queso is perfection. So definitely get the chips and queso as well. I’m so glad that I have a Taqueria del Sol in Nashville to go to and you will be too. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

The place was on my list for a long time . The food and drinks were real good but it seemed a little too pricey for my liking . It isn’t a fancy restaurant to be charging 13 dollars for a glass of margarita. They have limited food menu but I believe all of the items are good. Also disappointed in not getting complimentary chips and salsa which is a staple at an authentic Mexican restaurant . Its a order your food and pick up a seat kind of a place. The chef’s specials brassa chicken is amazing and the enchiladas are made well. I also got the tilapia and rice dish which was decent as well.

Google
5 star all day. I was most impressed by the speed of which my food arrived. I ordered a fried chicken, fish and Memphis taco. They were literally in front of me in under a minute. If you’re a small party of 1 or 2 - run for the bar. You can order directly with the bartender instead of waiting in line to order. The food was fantastic. The service was amazing. The roasted red salsa, green tomatillo salsa, and the 4 amazing variety of tacos I had - were fantastic. The tacos were much bigger than places like Bajo Sexto tacos - and more fairly priced at $2.99 each. Happy National Taco Day was a success.

Google
Could not believe so much flavor came from such a simple prep. The fish tacos were surprisingly light for being battered and were delicious. The carnitas were perfectly moist with a balanced sweet/savory/spicy flavor profile, also delicious. Can't wait to try more.

Google
This is a chain restaurant and the food is like fast food taco. I've had tacos at other chain restaurants but it's never been this bad. I had brisket and fish taco and guacamole with chips as a side dish. None of them was fresh. Guac had gone bad and it was sour, not from lemon juice, like acidic fermented sour! Brisket was ok but fish wasn't fresh either.

Google
Some of the Best tacos in Nashville, paired wtih a Top 3 service experience. We wanted to sit outside and they made it happen. We haven't seen a staff hustle that much since the 90s. Def will recommend and be back. Winner of the Night: Cheeseburger Taco

Google
Make sure you get the salsa trio! You will not be disappointed. Some of the freshest and flavorful salsa I have ever had.

Google
Really cool place in Nashville. The ordering process is easy and the food is really tasty. The guacamole portion is very generous. The staff is constantly cleaning. We sat outside and the view is pretty decent. The flies suck, but not their fault really. Try it if you are here.

Yelp
I met a friend for drinks after work and she suggested Taqueria Del Sol. I knew it mostly as a restaurant so I was surprised, but I trust her judgement so I agreed. I'm so happy I did! The vibe: Very casual. You have to go to the counter to order yourself. The server comes to the table with your drinks and food, but if you want anything, you need to go up to the counter again to order and pay. Most people were in T-shirts, jeans, and shorts. For some reason it was very hot in the restaurant. During the heat wave, I would've appreciated some AC! Unfortunately there is no parking here but there is usually street parking along 12th ave S and the neighboring streets. House Margarita: $8 for a margarita in Nashville?!? You won't get this deal anywhere else! This wasn't a happy hour price either, just the standard deal they have here. The house margarita was incredible. Just strong enough, but no tequila smell. It was sweet but balanced with a little sour taste. This was hands down one of the best margaritas I've ever had. Good price quality drinks are hard to come by in this city, so I HIGHLY recommend. This is such an unassuming place to grab a drink but I would come back in a heart beat! I also want to try their food next time!

Yelp
Today my wife and our family took a visit to Taqueria Del Sol. We didn't know what to get at first so while we were looking a worker came up to us and asked us if we needed help and also gave us some of his favorite recommendations, which was super nice. Once we ordered, we then seated ourselves and waited for our food to come while the suspense built. I ordered one Memphis taco and one Carnita taco, which was the perfect amount to fill me up on an empty stomach. It did come with a price though, each taco was around 4.09 before tax so two tacos was over 8 dollars which just seemed like a lot for two tacos. They were very delicious but for the size it just wasn't something I could get often, which makes me sad. My overall experience was really great with the service and with the taste of the food. The only con is the extremely high price for the little portion.

Yelp
Went here on the recommendation of a few people and so glad we did. A tasty taco experience. You order at the counter and then sit down - there are plenty of tables and a heated patio plus a bar. The guacamole was phenomenal. We tried the chips trio and the carnitas tacos and everything was tasty. A great spot.

Adam C.

Yelp
I stopped by fast casual Taqueria del Sol for afternoon lunch. We started with the queso and chips. The chips and queso were excellent! The queso was slightly spicy and full of flavor. They also offered us extra chips free of charge - a nice touch. My Memphis taco contained brisket and coleslaw. It was a unique twist on a classic BBQ flavor. The enchiladas were also really good - the red beef sauce was smoky and flavorful. The restaurant was clean and welcoming and I highly recommend this spot for tacos!

Ivy S.

Yelp
Came here based on the 4 star reviews. Ordered the fish taco and it was pretty dissatisfying. My picture says it all. The only one that liked the food was my 12 yr old child who got a fried chicken taco. Maybe because I'm from NY I expected more from a 4 star taco place? The margarita was also pretty bland. Pros: quick service; friendly servers, and cheap

Maddie C.

Yelp
We came here recently for the first time after previously carrying out. When we carried out, the food was pretty good, so we thought we'd come in and try it again. This time was very disappointing. The tacos are very basic, and for what you get very expensive. Don't order the enchiladas; mine wasn't very flavorful and didn't fill me up. The chips and queso were the best part of the mea. Overall, we probably won't be coming back. Food and drink was overpriced for the quality. The pros: the atmosphere and location

Hannah B.

Yelp
This was my second visit, and I was pretty disappointed with the service and how this place is being managed. My first visit was in the summer, and we saw at least 3 dogs on their patio. So when we came with out-of-town family and their small dog, we didn't think it would be an issue. It was a colder day, so absolutely no one was sitting in the uncovered side of the patio. We put two tables together, and I took a seat there with the dog, while the rest of the party went inside to order. Once we had ordered food, we were unkindly told that tables could not be moved and that the dog would have to stay outside of the patio fence. These rules are not visible anywhere outside. If we hadn't placed our order in already, we would have left immediately. But sadly, we had to sit in separate tables with the dog on the other side of the fence while we quickly ate our food so we could leave. Overall, an unpleasant experience.

Julia B.

Yelp
Taqueria Del Sol has delicious food that is also affordable! Food was brought out minutes after ordering and the waiter was super friendly. Definitely one of our favorite spots! I got the carnita tacos and the chips/salsa trio and recommend both things.

Jessica M.

Yelp
This place is not it. Ordered two fish tacos, which had very little poblano sauce and canned jalapeños. My daughter had carnitas tacos that were soggy with grease. The flour tortilla was that of a store bought quality. Perhaps they have good drinks but their tacos are lacking.

Amy P.

Yelp
I was happily surprised by how flavorful the tacos were as well as how large. While I don't love paying $4 per taco, the size of these and how great and creative they were made it worth it. I got the salsa trio and absolutely loved two of the three, so that was definitely worth getting. Staff was helpful and it was a great place for a casual dinner or lunch.

Yelp
Our gang of 9 chose Taqueria Del Sol on 12th Ave S, Belmont area, for a family reunion. Arrived early enough, before 5 pm, so outdoor seating was accommodated. Free on-site parking is available...much needed in the area and not mentioned on the website. Taqueria Del Sol mainly offers interesting tacos and enchiladas made to order. You wait in an order line to order food and drinks, give them your name, take a seat, and food is delivered to your table. Friendly service. Order 2 or 3 tacos for a full meal. I ordered one of each: Fish Taco, Carnitas Taco, and Brisket Taco with a side combo of Mexican rice and refried beans. I think the Carnitas Taco was my personal favorite...though all were good. Also ordered a "Skinny Margarita" properly made with 100% Agave Tequila, Cointreau, and lime juice. Also offers a "Build-your-own" margarita. Open daily Tues-Sun until 9:00 pm (9:30 Fri-Sat). Closed mid-afternoon weekdays. Yelp hours out of date. Full bar. Two Small Gripes: * No draught beer, though a wide selection of bottle and can beer * Asked for Picante sauce or salsa. Oddly unavailable. Was offered hot sauce instead. Popular with a younger crowd. Will return

Yelp
Stopped in for a drink while shopping in the area. David, the bar manager was super informative about all the tequilas they had. We had such a great chat talking about the different brands he's brought in and he suggested the PERFECT one for us. While chatting, he made sure to attend to any patron that came to the bar. We didn't eat the food but it all looked fantastic. My rating is based on attentive, personalized, friendly services we received. Can't wait to come back!

Marissa S.

Yelp
One word folks: QUESO! After walking around and having done some shopping, we were in need of a place to rest our feet and fill our bellies with a light snack. Turns out this place makes a pretty darn amazing queso dip that what we intended as a pre-dinner meal became an excessive indulgence. We ordered bowls of this concoction that didn't even look appealing to the eyes. A light-ish yellow in somewhat watery consistency was one of the best things I ate on this trip. It came with endless refills of warm and fresh tortilla chips which made it harder to stop munching. Don't forget their guac to go with this and of course, frozen margaritas to wash everything down. Cheers!

Kelly V.

Yelp
So sad this location is closing :( I have loved taqueria del sol ever since I lived in Atlanta for undergraduate. Their skinny margaritas are super delicious (and super strong), and their queso is to die for!! Tried their chicken salad for the first time this weekend, and it was full of veggies and really satisfying. Staff is always nice and lovely outdoor seating in the 12 South area. Definitely worth a visit!

Heather Rene A.

Yelp
I love this place! Food is always fresh and tasty! I've tried several items but typically always go back to their enchiladas. Great for groups (once groups are safe). Because everyone can order individually at the counter and then find a table to all sit together. No castle of splitting the bill at the end. Have great COVID protocols currently though - can order ahead to-go or dine in at tables separated by plexi glass dividers.

Anuj S.

Yelp
Just stopped here for dinner. This was the quickest and most casual meals while on our spring break trip to Nashville. I'd say with a name like taqueria, I was expecting some authentic Mexican food. I'd say the food here is basically Americanized. I'll say this that the people were nice and the setup is conducive to social distancing during the pandemic and all. The food... Was kind of so-so. The veggie taco was pretty much beans and cheese melted into a tortilla. The enchilada was cheese melted in a tortilla with some red sauce on top. I mean... Not that I'm expecting gourmet cooking, but it could've been better. Maybe it was the vegetarian preparations, because yelp reviews are otherwise great. Well, for what it is, people seemed to enjoy it. As long as you're not going in expecting actual Mexican food. I'll say this - I didn't see any Mexican people working there or eating there, if that's any indication. But for what it is, it wasn't that bad.

B.R. F.

Yelp
If you like Mexican food don't stop here ! Watered down Margaritas! 6 tacos and the margaritas $61.00 and the charge for chips and salsa ... Huh ?

Taco J.

Yelp
As the name implies, these tacos are on fire perpetually and large. Good value and good taste! While the long lines may have you burning up, don't worry - the tacos are appropriately heated and not even spicy to boot!

Jessica L.

Yelp
Pros: very fast, good service, good Covid protocols Cons: food and margs were meh We decided to grab dinner here on a whim after we were quoted an obnoxious wait time at a nearby restaurant. They had a sign saying they were at full capacity, but because you order at the counter, I could see just a few tables waiting in front and we decided to wait. It took around 10 minutes before we got to order -- totally doable for a Saturday night. We ordered guacamole, margs, and tacos then grabbed a table outside. The covered patio was well lit and had plexiglass dividers between tables, so we were sitting pretty close to other tables, but it felt clean and safe. Our food came just minutes after sitting down, but overall everything was just meh. The margarita wasn't great, the guacamole needed garlic and salt. I got the hot chicken taco and a carnitas taco. I didn't hate them, but they just weren't anything to write home about. Iceberg lettuce, flour tortillas, a not-spicy-enough chicken tender. Overall, we had a good time and I'm glad it was efficient with good service, but the food was underwhelming.

Joel M.

Yelp
Went to the restaurant with friends who had a baby. There were no instructions about waiting to be seated or to order before sitting down. Pushed a couple tables together for our group and were abruptly told we couldn't do that because we unknowingly blocked an exit. Fair enough. We moved our tables and perused the menu to place an order. The GM came back over looking like a red-headed, sweaty, Zach Galifianakis mfer and very rudely told us all 6 of us had to get back up and go through the line and that we couldn't just seat ourselves (didn't know, wasn't listed or displayed in the foyer). Not peak hours and there were PLENTY of tables. I kept explaining we had a child with our group and we were trying to get the child settled while looking at the menu online right at that moment to go place our order. He again tried to say our entire group had to get up and go back inside and I explained that if there was a problem, we would be happy to take our business elsewhere if he was going to be upset about us being there, but after some persistence, he walked off. Even if there was an issue he would like to address, there was an incredible lack of professionalism and courtesy. We caused no disturbance, but were treated terribly. I wouldn't choose to go back. Also the food tasted like Mexico in black and white.

JB G.

Yelp
I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. Tried to have a nice, quick family dinner here with my wife and two young children (a newborn and 2 year old). We thought it'd be a good idea to secure a table first since we had a stroller and didn't want to disrupt the inside of the restaurant any more than would necessary. Apparently whoever manages this place has an emotional wound from childhood because you're not allowed to "save seats" at this restaurant. My wife was rudely instructed to get up from the table and leave the patio until I had finished ordering inside. They wouldn't even let her STAND on the patio. No, she had to come inside with me. Never mind the fact that the inside isn't even remotely stroller accessible, and that there were at least seven open tables available at the time as well. Even patrons who witnessed this were stunned and offered their open seats to my wife and children. No big deal in the end. We went to 12 South Taproom across the street and had a much better time - based on the other reviews it sounds like the food is better too.

Jessica S.

Yelp
WOOOOOOW! This place was Sooooo good! My BFF and I wanted a place we could just hang out and eat tacos. This place was perfect. Everyone was super nice and the vibe was super chill. The tacos were amazing and im already planning my next meal there. Yom!

Justin C.

Yelp
Long lines for tacos that are average. Only use this as a backup for other taco places in Nashville

Cissy W.

Yelp
Taqueria Del Sol is just always so good. Went late in the evening and there was still a line but don't be discouraged it moves pretty quickly and there is always seating available after you place your order. *Tip - if you are a small party (1-2) look for spots at the bar. You can sit there and order if space is open. Staff is always so friendly and professional. Place has great feel because it's full of happy people about to eat great food. Service is pretty fast but we ordered some guacamole and the salsa trio to bridge the gap between order and main dish. All were great, chips are light and crispy not heavy oily variety. I ordered 2 tacos: Memphis & the Fish. The fish here is great and the Jalapeños on the fish taco are the right amount of zing! Memphis with chopped pork & jalapeño slaw was great too. Several ordered the Cheese Enchilada, sounds so plain but it is anything but plain. You order your choice of enchilada with choice of sauce, the Lemon Cream Sauce was so good. Perfect light lemon to compliment the cheese. Definitely getting that next time and it will be soon!

Kevin Z.

Yelp
I was super excited when I found out there was one here in Nashville! I've only eaten at other Taqueria Del Sols outside of Nashville during lunch hours. We came in last night for dinner around 730pm. It wasn't as packed as I expected. Shortly after we arrived though, the line was out the door. Much like at other locations, the food comes out hot and fast. We ordered the fried chicken, carnitas, Memphis, brisket and their special taco of the day. All the tacos were great, much like all my visits here. Simple good tacos.

John S.

Yelp
I was excited to pay Taqueria Del Sol a visit as I had heard great things about it from almost everyone I know who has been. I ordered one of the specials of the week: the "Tex Mex" burrito filled with ground beef mixed with spices and jalapeños, topped with red sauce and shredded cheese. The spices and jalapeños that were blended into the beef provided a nice kick, but otherwise there wasn't much substance to the filling -- the ground beef was relatively forgettable. The red sauce and cheese added some flavor, but not enough to make the dish a standout. The side of Mexican rice was nearly flavorless despite having vegetables and spices mixed in. The chips and trio of salsa dips were pretty good. The red was by far my favorite. But again, nothing that would bring me rushing back. I think I should have gone with my gut and ordered a taco or enchilada. What I ordered certainly wasn't bad, but it didn't live up to the hype. The service was great. The interior is a little cramped, but thankfully the restaurant wasn't too crowded so it wasn't an issue. I'd be willing to give this place a second try. I've heard too many good things about it to let it go.

Sam S.

Yelp
One of my favorite Mexican spots in Nashville. I'm very glad it's stayed open during the pandemic and every time I've been or gotten takeout it's always been a very safe and responsible experience thanks to their careful and professional management. That said, I'm looking forward to full reopening because this place can be a ton of fun! Good crowd, good drinks, great food.

Ashley A.

Yelp
Hidden gem in 12 South!! Most complete selection of tequila anywhere (ps Tequila is keto/gluten free!!) Sit at the bar, the service is amazing and you'll get schooled on tequila and salsa. The beans/rice combo side is freaking delicious. Tacos are the bomb. Try it, you won't regret!!

Samm S.

Yelp
Yaaaaas. First off- this place is not authentic. But I'm okay with that! We waited in line for quite a while and I think that caused me to maybe over order? We grabbed queso, guac, fried chicken taco, and carnitas taco. Kids got the quesadilla and Mexican rice. The guac is the only thing I'd maybe skip next time (bland). The queso was delicious. It reminds me of Moes and I wanted to pour it on everything. Both tacos were very good. The fried chicken may have won though (that chicken is so perfectly crispy and flavorful). The kids quesadilla was really good. Almost like a grilled cheese quesadilla if that makes sense? We also got the house margarita, naturally. And it was really good and decently strong.

Susan P.

Yelp
Delicious enchiladas. Beautiful and welcoming staff. I could eat here everyday. Not one visit was a disappointment and we nibble at one of the two locations at least a couple times a month. PS. Frosted margarita - totally yummy

Jade A.

Yelp
Decent food and service. We normally eat here once a month or so and order to go since it's close by. I will say that each time we've picked up our food to go, it has been stone cold by the time we pick it up and we only live 10mins away and are always early. The meals comes in aluminum containers so can't exactly zap it in microwave. Also I really wish they'd stop using staples to close the paper bags, it's not fun to flip staples all in your food bag, definitely a safety hazard. Their shrimp plate special is our FAVE, wish they'd have it on menu more often! All round I'd give a 3.75 star!

Lyna M.

Yelp
I love this place for a quick mexican fix. My favorite is the enchiladas with the red chili sauce, its soooo good!!! The price is cheap and you get full. Everything i had here is really good. We sat at the bar and i wanted a spicy margarita and he made it perfect. This place never disappoint and is my go to when i want quick mexican food.

Bryan H.

Yelp
By far the best Taqueria in Atlanta. It is unlike any other Taqueria across the country. Sign up for their Chef inspired weekly dishes. Turnip Greens are amazing. My favorite is there chicken enchilada covered with pork green chili, and I always order it well done so that the cheese on top gets a little crispy

Merricks W.

Yelp
I grew up in Atlanta down the street from the original Taqueria location and was thrilled to see they had 2 locations when I moved to Nashville. I can't say enough good things about their food, staff and speed of service. Appetizers: salsa, queso and guac are my go to everytime. It is a lot of food, but you need all of it. The queso is especially my favorite because it has little bits of jalapeño so the flavor is great. Food: Highly recommend the fried chicken taco. They do a weekly special taco and those are great too. My absolute favorite is the Peruvian Taco. Seriously, I dream about the week that it's put on the menu and go at least twice to get it. It's incredible. Also, all of their enchiladas are wonderful and so is the chowder. Drinks: frozen house margarita is the BEST! Perfect tequila amount and lime flavor.

Steve L.

Yelp
Really cool little place. Plenty of beers on tap and some delicious mexican-style treats. I had the brisket enchiladas and the fried chicken Tacos (per hostess recommendations). It was the perfect amount of food (which is tough to come by in Nashville...god knows who anyone could eat 3 meals a day here). The enchiladas had a good amount of meat in it, and covered in a delicious ground beef/cheese layer. The chicken tacos looked a little thrown together, but the taste was there. All n all, a solid stop with good food n drink options.

Taylor E.

Yelp
I hate to say it, but this place is just okay. The 3 stars are for the tasty margaritas, affordable pricing, & good service. Unfortunately, that's about the end of the goodness of this place. The food is just blah. I've been here on multiple occasions & have never been impressed with the taste of any of their dishes. The best way I can describe it is bland. If you like spicy & flavorful Mexican food, this place is just simply not for you. However, I did try the queso tonight which comes with jalapeños (finally some flavor!), & that was actually the best thing I've ever eaten here. I have friends who are a little more picky that love this place. So maybe if you're a picky eater or coming in with kids this is the spot for you! But unfortunately, this is not a place I would ever choose to go myself.

Emilia C.

Yelp
I think Taqueria Del Sol is always a good idea. Unfortunately, so does the rest of Nashville. This location can get super crowded. If you aren't in a rush, it is definitely worth the wait. The staff is friendly, the food is fresh, and their prices are very affordable. I have tried nearly everything on the menu at this point. My favorite tacos by far are the fish and brisket. The shrimp chowder is a non-negotiable! It is absolutely delicious! The margaritas aren't too sweet and are very strong (you are getting your money's worth!). I have literally been to Taqueria Del Sol over twenty-five times and have never been disappointed. The odds are that you will have a pretty good experience too. I couldn't recommend this establishment more!

Corrie S.

Yelp
I don't want to toot my own horn here, but I know a good queso. I'm somewhat of a queso connoisseur. And I loved the "cheese dip" here. More like a queso blanco with big chunks of jalapeño. Delicious. Served with a big basket of chips, my husband and I slammed some "cheese dip". I'm telling you, it was SO good. I could eat a vat of that cheese dip. As far as tacos go, this is an AMERICAN taco. This is not authentic Mexican food, but it's yummy all the same.

Mary Kate E.

Yelp
Overpriced and underwhelming. I am not sure how this place is a thing and so popular for the poor quality crap you pay for. Margaritas are weak, food is too American without soul in the kitchen. Seriously, down a block, I can go get "white girl" tacos at Bar Taco. I expect that vibe from there and at the very least, I enjoy their offerings when I don't head to Nolensville Road. Here, I expected something a little different. The only difference I can register is that Bar Taco will get my business, whereas, you guys will not. Eeek.

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
A kid friendly spot to grab some tasty drinks and Mexican food. Outdoor dining and indoor dining available . Water was set out for patrons to help themselves. Set in the cute 4S neighborhood, so save some time to wander afterward!

A B.

Yelp
5 stars for flavor 5 stars for service 5 stars for speed 5 stars for parking (private lot that can get crowded but we found two spots) Stopped in just before noon on a Sunday with a party of nine and the line was backed up to the door. There was only one cashier/order station but the line continually moved and we didn't wait more than about 10 minutes. While we were waiting, the manager (I assume) asked how many in our party and set up tables that were ready for us as soon as we finished ordering. The food came out within minutes. I love that each individual person gives their name when ordering so there's no confusion when the food arrives. My three tacos (fish, veggie/bean, and hot "jac" shrimp were amazing! Everyone enjoyed their food and while there were a few stand outs, there wasn't anything that wasn't good. If I lived nearby, I'd be a regular.

Jeff C.

Yelp
Outstanding food, great service and fair pricing. What more could you ask for? My fav is the cheese enchilada with the green pork Chile sauce. I eat it a couple times per month. Thankfully, I can walk to the 12 South store but parking is plentiful. Also, tons of outside seating. ****CLOSED ON MONDAY****

Lauren W.

Yelp
Ok.. let's be honest for a second: The best thing here is the queso, guac, and salsa trio. I eat here probably once a month just because it's so close (not cheap). As mentioned in several other comments, get the tacos (not enchiladas). I am an enchilada QUEEN - but they just do their tacos better here.

Catherine B.

Yelp
This wasn't my favorite taco place but it was delicious! The employees are very strict about not getting a table until after you order food so just keep that in mind. You order at the counter and then they bring out your food. My friend and I shared chips and guacamole and then had a chicken taco and carnitas taco each. The chips and guac we so good and I could've kept eating them all day. I personally wasn't a fan of the carnitas taco but the chicken taco was delicious. It was a bit salty but still yummy. I loved the jalapeño sauce they added as it has a nice kick but wasn't too over bearing. Crazy story... I saw Ryan Tannehill here with his family while I dined in with a bachelorette group. So cool!

Robert B.

Yelp
Damn close to the original but just off a touch. Nevertheless great tacos enchiladas queso and margaritas. I am moving about 4 and half hours away from this location and I will be making the trek every other month for a taco so just for this. And probably twice to three times a year back to Atlanta for the original spot. Great place. Fast service. Highly recommend if you're in the Nashville area. And if you're in Atlanta. Look it up. You're missing out.

Yelp
Coming from California my Mexican food bar is set pretty high. If I remind myself that this place is definitely more Tex-Mex than authentic Mexican it just passes my judgement tests. If you're anti-pre-mixed cocktail and on the hunt for a classic, well-made margarita, treat yourself to the Skinny. Its bare bones and delicious - premium reposado (my sub), fresh squeezed limes, and Cointreau ($9.50). The guac is small but perfectly made. Got two tacos off their specials menu - slow cooked pulled chicken in a super spicy sauce. So good. Skip the fish tacos. Small dried up stinky breaded fish nuggets that're drowned in soupy mayo. Would love all their tacos so much more if they came with corn tortillas. Loved the outdoor seating option too - shaded and with big ol fans make it totally tolerable for a hot Aug afternoon. Could def see myself back here for those margaritas.

Yelp
The most...'Caucasian' tacos in Nashville lol I'm half white so it's okay ;) I will say that the service was amazing and they brought the food out very quickly. It's also pretty cheap for a restaurant on 12 South. But that's about where the high points end. I didn't want tartar sauce? on my fish taco, so it literally came out as 2 little pieces of fish on a cold, flour tortilla. I also didn't think it was possible for guac to be bland until Taqueria Del Sol. I had to salt it every other bite to make it edible. I got a carnitas enchilada as well and that was actually pretty decent. The meat was delicious and the red sauce and cheese helped. Bf got a veggie taco and veggie enchilada and they both just looked like plain refried beans thrown in a raw flour tortilla. A thin, reddish salsa was on his enchilada and it leaked clear fluid all over the plate. Thankfully the veggie taco was on a different plate so it didn't turn to mush. Basically, if you hate corn tortillas for some reason and don't like spices or seasoning whatsoever in your food, then this is the place for you.

Yelp
Stopped by while exploring the area. Ordered the some chips and salsa, carnitas, and el pastor special. The el pastor 'special' was It was nothing like any al pastor I have ever had and much more tasted like a beef brisket with poor seasoning than typical sliced pork style al pastor. The carnitas were fine and I would get them again. The salsa verde and darker sauce accompanied by the chips and salsa were good as well. Would I return? Possibly. Prices are reasonable and I would be willing to try other things. The servers were all nice and the line moved quickly. TLDR: Not authentic Mexican but moreso a cool hipster version of chipotle

Yelp
The ambience here is quite nice: plenty of bright blue walls married with stark white porch seating. On a sunny day in Nashville, you feel more south of the border than Southern with a margarita in one hand and a jicama fish taco in the other. That being said, I recommend getting at least one fish taco instead of the three I dived into. Reason being, Taqueria Del Sol offers several other types, including brisket, which sounds intriguing. I would also nix the guac and chips basket and instead go for the trifecta of salsas. While the guac is decent, you will have more pairing options available to you once your tacos come out with only a hint of sauce. Further, stock up on lemons at the water station if you want your fish flavors to pop. The small squeeze of tartar business does nothing to brighten the brine. If you are willing to play taco mixologist with some of the condiments on the side, you'll be golden. The blueprint is pretty well planned out: patrons stand to the side, the line can go out the door instead of around seated diners. There is even a latch for the porch seating, so you don't have to even make eye contact with hangry people in line if you don't want to. Parking is pretty generous for 12 South--they have a private lot shared with the neighboring hairstylist. Service is speedy and out of your way. They drop off your food, you eat the food, they clean the tables. Simple and done perfectly. The food is fair, the service is fair, and the location is fun. Prices are tourist and local friendly. I might drop in for another bite some time.

Yelp
Food was decent for the price but wasn't blown away by it. Loved the guac, but wasn't super impressed with the tacos- brisket and carnitas. Brisket was pretty dry and the carnitas didn't have a ton of flavor. Really enjoyed the environment though- it's super chill and has a nice outdoor area
