I went there for lunch with my family a couple of weeks ago. The food was fine, but we had an unpleasant experience when we saw the owner (Maria) mistreat a waitress. I don't know why, but I don't think it was the right way to treat an employee, especially in front of customers. They should improve the work environment and how they treat their employees…

Very good Mexican food. We ordered the Super Nachos. They were loaded with flavor and delicious. Nobody knew any English but we were able to make order by pointing at the number and picture on the menu. Service was good.

Really authentic Mexican food only downside to that is if you’re looking for hard shells they don’t have them

The food wass ok but the sservice wasn"t there. Our waitress was helping in the kitchen I think. It seems to be more of a family run business so I understand having to wait. There was also a communication problem which might have added to the confusion as we didnt get things we asked for. With that all said I still believe its worth a visit if you are craving Mexican food.

We originally wanted to come here but the parking lot was full. We went to another store and came back. Please take note if you speak only English ordering and communicating will be difficult. We ordered the super nachos. It was very good. The chips and salsa was good as well.

Trying to find the best steak taco in Green Bay Area. On a scale of 1-5, chips and salsa and steak taco were rated. Very authentic Mexican restaurant of typical Central Mexico cuisine. Salsa was unbelievably hot 🥵🥵🥵 with good flavor. Pozole had good flavor with sufficient condiments. They use a think pork chop for the meat. Very unique and tender. Good service, banda-Norteño on television to entertain. Sells variety of Mexican beers.

Love, love, love the tacos here! And everything is priced so reasonably. We have been coming to this place for several years and never been disappointed.

Good service. Shrimp Michelada was great, the mix seemed original as a posed to just Clamato mix, shrimp could have been warmed up but that's just me. Pastor tacos were delicious. The side of fried jalapeños and green onions stole the show.

This place looks like you are pulling up to someone's house until you see the rest of the building. The waitress was super friendly. The tacos were very good. I got tacos al pastor, cabeza, cesina, suadero, a side of cebolla asada and a michelada for a drink. The al pastor was good. The cabeza was very good. The suadero was awesome. The cesina was very good. The cebolla asada new favorite. The michelada never misses. Salsas were also very tasty. If they did quesabirria it would be the best place in GB area for real Mexican food. I also got a Jamaica Agua Fresca to go, wow was it super sweet I will try something else next time. Very good will be back.

We arrived shortly before they closed (we did not realize they were closing) and were treated wonderfully despite our faux pas. The food was absolutely incredible! Each of us loved it! The ambiance was lovely and we look forward to going again! If you haven't tried Taqueria El Local, get there ASAP! You won't regret it!

My girlfriend and I decided to try a new (to us) restaurant for Mexican food. I had gotten burritos here before with a friend about four years ago when we worked together. He recommended Taqueria El Local for their huge, generous portioned burritos. They were delicious and massive but I never had a regular meal here. So we were seated immediately by a very polite and attentive waitress. She did not speak very much English but that was fine, we figured out everything and it was fun to do so. The interior of the restaurant was colorful and there were some families present enjoying their meals. It was very local and felt that way. The salsa was literally some of the BEST SALSA that we have had in a while. It was definitely homemade and tasted authentic with a delicious blend of traditional spices. SO good! I ordered the Carne Asada and my girlfriend got the Mexican Barbecue plate. Both dishes were fantastic. What really got us was the taste of the meat, the flavor, the wonderful spices and tenderness! My Carne Asada was so good, the grilled onions were excellent too, grilled just right. I ate every single one. The barbecue meat was so tender and tasty. I'm glad my girlfriend shared some with me. After tasting it, I think if it were my dish, I would have curled my body around the plate, so no one could get near it. Any requests for a sample would have been met with a low foreboding growl ....... So this "hole in the wall" local restaurant will definitely stay on our list of places to visit! I even saw a guy from work there. Now that is verifiably local eh?!

Asada Super Nachos and the tacos are awesome! No Margaritas, but the beer was cold. Will continue to visit when I'm in the area.

Great tasting meats! Lots to choose from on the menu. Huge tacos and portions. Good rice and beans and micheladas! Great service though, many do not speak English fluently (not a problem), enter through the side. Looks like a house and it is attached to a super market. Nice little spot, good find.

The 1 star is for the horrible waitress i had today Not very" gringo " friendly the food is great but you'll have to put up with being ignored by waiters not all of them are like that but you don't get the right one you won't get your drinks and the people they seat after you will get there food 10 minutes b4 you order to go and avoid that whole issue

This place is a hidden gem, like literally no sign out front other than an old Red Wings shoes sign which I believe is for the place next door. It looks like a house but is obviously a business when you pull in to the side parking lot. The menu is expansive, portions are huge, and the food is tasty. I have pictured here the quesadilla and torts both steak. I eye spyed some dinner plates on my latest visit, definitely ordering one of those next time. If you like Mexican and are very, very hungry this place is for you.

We just ordered $50 worth of food and it all ended up in the trash after a couple bites. A full steak burrito, chicken burrito and steak al a mexicana all ended up in the garbage. The chicken smelled like canned chicken and the beans tasted like the chicken smelled. The steak w/both meals had the texture and flavor of cheap round steak. Mostly just sick to my stomach that we wasted $50.

Pretty tasty stuff, but I just don't always think it's the cleanest of spots. If you're not above eating around unbussed tables, then by all means, it's pretty decent. The fajitas are underwhelming, but joder, la lengua and tripa are fantastic!

My daughter and I always look for little places to eat...we have done this since living in El Paso, we always found that judging a book by it's cover is not the way to go. So yes if judging the outside and entrance then you would never expect to sit and have such authentic food. The flavors in the steak and chicken were perfect. She had steak enchaladas and I had Mexican chicken tacos. I was very happy with our food, service, and cleanliness of the establishment. I wish I had brushed up a little more on my Spanish because they did speak very little English but that's 100% okay with me, I know for next time! They were still very friendly with the language barrier and I will be going back! For the people that said it smelled they must have just finished up a batch of menudo so it wasn't the establishment sometimes it's the way the meat is cleaned and cooked.

Cockroach! Never eating there again. I'm sorry that's nasty!!!!! They couldn't help us. Instead they offer us another table.....WHAT are you kidding me right now...we left. They can keep my money, it's probably got cockroach eggs all over it anyways.

This is my favorite Mexican food place in Green Bay. Since I moved to the area I've probably eaten here a few times a month for years, and I've never had a bad experience. The steak burritos and tacos are amazing!

Great food! We have never had a problem with the service. Have returned many times!! We have a friend that lives in Green Bay and he brings us food from here often! Great tacos!!

I'm giving 3 stars for the food. Food was delicious but service sucked. We waited like 5 minutes to get a table. Then some dude came and asked us what we wanted to drink. We asked him for water and then we ordered. 5 minutes passed and chips and salsa came but no water. We waited a little longer then finally water came ( after 15 minutes). Food arrived and was delicious. So I think they need to get more people there so they can serve customers better.

The food here is good. Really good for that matter. But it goes down hill after that. If you want to get food from here, I suggest takeout. That way you won't see how dirty it is inside the place. And if you do decide to eat here, be prepared to order your food more than once before they get it right. I come here a lot because like I said, the food is good. But THEY ALWAYS GET MY ORDER WRONG. I'll keep coming back but will bring my patience. Give them a try. Maybe they just need more practice.

I really wanted to like this place - I avoid all the franchise joints and go to as many local 'family-owned' restaurants as I can, but El Local threw that in my face today. As other reviews have mentioned, the service is poor and basically unfriendly. In light of that, I could care less if the food were good, but it wasn't. Two bites into my Carnitas Taco (Pork Taco) I realized it was completely raw - not even seared. The Steak Taco tasted 'dusty' and like a leftover from the back of the fridge. I'm honestly sad to say this, but this place should be avoided.

Bad service and food. The waiters are rude and with a negative attitude towards clients. The tacos were cold and they got my order wrong. When I complained they got mad. Also the pestilent smell of dirty restrooms is overwhelming in the restaurant. Plus the tables are always dirty. Don't eat here. Never coming back. La comida estaba fría y el servicio pésimo. La mesera siempre de mal humor con los clientes. Tomaron mi orden mal y cuando pedí salsa extra me cobraron. Cuando le dije que mi orden estaba mal la mesera se enojó. Además de eso lo primero en recibirte cuando entras es el pestilente olor a baños sucios y la basura en el suelo y las mesas. Este lugar deja mucho que desear. No lo recomiendo.

I was referred here by a friend and I am so glad she told me to come here. She boasted they had the best tacos in Green Bay. To be frank they have the best everything. It is hidden off the street in a converted house. It took a bit to locate the faded sign and park out back. Walking in you locate a booth. The interior is tacky but really clean inside. The waitress had menu's to us in about 5 minutes and took our drink orders right away. The flavored water (hibiscus) was perfection. They seem to make and mix a lot of their own beverages. The chips were hot/fresh and paired well with the REALLY spicy salsa. I like it hot and this was legit heat. Beware if you are heat sensitive. I ordered two tacos and guacamole. The guacamole was served first. It was chunky and served on a little plate. This was just like the guacamole I had when I was in Mexico last. It was creamy and the giant pieces of cilantro married well with the avocado. When my tacos came I knew I read the menu wrong. It was a little confusing but I will not blame the restaurant. I wanted Mexican style tacos but instead read the thing next to it to the waitress for American style. Easily fixed she put in an order for Mexican style for me (cilantro, steak and onion). Before my husband could finish one of his tacos my new order was put in front of my. SPEEDY service. Double layer of corn tortilla stuffed full of steak, onions and cilantro. I topped it with the house green hot sauce and was in heaven. I will be back for sure really soon. I was excited to see they do take out as well if you want to eat ALL the tacos on your couch.

It's cheap. And it's authentic. Not like how Taco Johns likes to call itself authentic this is real Mexican food. I usually bring another ther friend get a drink a full pPlate each and it's like $20. I recommend the carne asada. Delicious.

Deliciously seasoned meat, i had 4 tacos and its my first time here. Staff is really friendly and the jamaica water is rich in flavor. Definitely worth the time and money to stop by and try it out, however i did have trouble finding it haha talk about hole in the wall

Wooooooow, horrible service , bad waitress, service sucked before and after waiting about almost 2 hours for our food , completely ignored us when we ran out of drinks or chips, they didn't wanted to compensate us for our wait and they messed up our tickets , charging us extra and apparently they couldn't give us a partial refund for the horrible experience , the owner argued that since " we ate everything , we couldn't get any discount" , she was rude and we took 20 min to get everything "in order " , never coming here again , first time visiting Wisconsin and they give me this bullshit .

They fucking suck customer service don't ever go there unless you want to wait an hour for them to attend you

It may not look like much on the outside/ Dont let that fool you. This is litterally the best mexican food I have ever had in my life. Super affordable pricing and the staff is very friendly even though they don't speak very much english. Keep up the great work! ! ! :)

Great place to eat. Great food. Some of the best steak burritos ever. Be prepared for slow service. Waters aren't refilled unless you ask and even then you might have to wait a bit. But I keep going back because the burritos are fantastic

Crappy service mediocre food and mandatory tip forced on your bill . Save your money and go to any other place . The worst part is they charge more than anyother place. I wouldn't of even known about the mandatory tip if I did ask for a receipt . Avoid at all cost .

Worst experience I've had at a restaurant. We've been going here for years now. Ordered our meal, ate and got a bill for $6 extra than what we ordered. They said it was for the meat, which I chose because they were out of the meat I originally wanted. The menu said "your choice of meat", but the owner was insisting the waiter to charge it. The other $3 was from a few measly chips we had, because they didn't give enough the first time, and because they gave way too much salsa the second time and we wanted to finish off the salsa. Again, we've been going here for years and never got charged nor had anybody mentioned a charge for extra chips , including the waiter today (also nowhere on the menu, must have been new as well as no longer getting avocado on the quesadillon). Instead of $8 for what I ordered, they were trying to charge $14. Obviously I was confused so I asked him why and tried explaining they cant just tack on random charges we were not aware of It then it progressed to a big incredibly stressful argument in front of the entire restaurant. The entire staff came to the front and not one of them could recognize the problem with the charges because only the waiter and one of the cooks could understand what I was saying. As far as the restaurant, I'm amazed it hasn't been shut down for health reasons. The baskets the chips are in are always coated in old dried on salsa from other guests. The tables are dirty, the water comes from a cooler and the ice comes from a second cooler that they leave open. The table sauce are also open on the table unrefrigerated. The cakes in the cooler have no covering other than being in the cooler. The bathroom has another door leading into the kitchen that they could just walk into (and also looks like a horror show). The waitstaff is also undertrained and very inattentive to guests, often sitting or chatting amongst themselves. If you can get past all that, the foods not too bad, aside from odd choices such as cooked lettuce and wet paper underneath certain dishes you have to fish out of your meal..

Best Mexican around. The atmosphere is nice but not clean. I don't want to know what health code violations there are. The steak burrito is a two meal burrito, we call it later laters. I've never beet let down by any of their food. Real Mexican food. Real Mexican atmosphere. .

Bright green entry way to your right upon stepping foot into restaurant. Great place for some selfies. Good food too. Love the desserts. Beautiful art work on the walls and colourful tables. Large Flat screen tvs on the walls.

You can't complain about the food, it is actually really good. The service and environment though, flat our sucks. Waitresses get mad easily and aren't willing to help out, owners will literally argue if you say anything, and the wait, ridiculous!! Let's not forget the restaurant itself, very unclean and surprisingly it is still open even though there is a lot wrong with their hygiene. But the food, cannot complain there. Wish I could rate it better but honestly, the only good thing about this place is the food.

Sat for 2 hours because no one would come to your table to take the order, no one to bring drinks, no one to bring us a box. no one stopped by our table for 1.5 hours even after bringing this to their attention. terrible service.

This place is amazing they cook so good I wold definitely recommend this place if you are craving Mexican food although the service is a little down hill it's sort of slow but it is worth the wait

Great real Mexican food. Not fake American Mexican. Best in town that's forsure. The torta is to die for. Not the best place for a date, it's noisy but I like it. I like it so much.

Best pork tacos I've ever had. I would not think too much about the negative reviews. They are rubbish. Honestly, this is one of the cheapest, best values, and best authentic Mexican restaurants you could imagine. It is a tiny, hole in the wall, but it is worth a stop. I go out of my way to go there. I'm going right now, actually!

I always get the steak burrito Mexican style(cilantro and onion only) and it is always outstanding. However, if you get take out check it before you leave as they don't speak the best English and there may be a mistake.

This rating is for the food only. The staff speek little to no english, the place looks crappy inside and out and is in the only place I go where I feel the need to lock my car doors. That said, I would drive 50 miles for one of their burritos.

I wish I could give it 0 stars. Don't get me wrong, the food is awesome, and I is hands down the best authentic Mexican in the Green Bay area. The service is horendous. They screwed up me and my friends order terribly, it took over an hour to get our food, we got served sepeartely (a half hour in between). My boyfriend caught them reusing the chips and salsa... gross. The place is always filthy. I asked for no beans, they said they were out of beans, but when I got my plate there was beans that looked like they had been sitting a film had developed over the top of it. The only time the waitress served us was to take our order and give us our food. We got up to go to the bathroom, and the waitress ran over, probably expect us to dine and dash because I'm sure it's not a rarity there. That was the only time she came over. I always feel sick after I ate there... but I will NEVER be returning.
