This place is great. Decorated like a lucha libre theme park. Kids would love this Two plates of tasty tacos was $15. The music was pumping, there was a soccer match on one TV and a wrestling match on another. I want to come back sometime in Taco Tuesday!

Their Horchata milkshake was all the dessert I needed in a cup! So sinfully delicious. Remember to come here on Mondays for their $7 burrito special, the HOT Cheetos Burrito is a must, it's bomb! Good food ice cold inside in the winter no heat at all. And the food is not cheap.

Chile relleno plate is great. Came with rice, beans, pice de gallo, lettuce, crema, quesadilla, and tortillas for only $11.99 which you can’t beat that price. The food was fresh and great quality. They have a salsa bar too and give free chips. I will definitely be back!

The carne asada plate was delicious but they did mess up my order.. they forgot to give me my taco but was able to go nck and pick it up

The food is really good but the lady taking orders at the counter was rude!wouldn't let me order what I wanted even tho they have all the things there and my customer order wouldn't have cost more then what I ended up getting..wouldn't let my husband substitute a beer for the soda in the drink he wanted again we were fine with paying more bt she said no...left hungry and disappointed in the service. The food was good bt not exactly what I wanted...I guess less money for the owner lol

The woman serving me was so nice and the carnitas was cooked just right. The salsa was really good and the service was fast. The restaurant had so many halloween decorations and it was really good.

The food here is not the best. I bought one of their shakes for my sister and tried it, it was pretty good but food items, not the best.

The service is horrible!!!! The lady that was serving me was rude ash . And she barely spoke English clearly . I had to wait 5 mins after my order for my drink and she acted like she didn't remember to get the soda after I said multiple times we order a soda. Never going back here again! I also forgot to add how nasty the food was ! Not to mention the meat was old ! They are just being rude and throwing food in a box . Presentation doesn't matter I guess . Don't eat here unless you want stomach problems, and a visit to anger management.

Taco Tuesday comes and all you want is a great taco and cheap eats. Well this location met all those needs. 1.50 tacos 4 different meats although they advertise 5 they only had 4 which was fine. 6.00 tacos and a beer cost me 13.00 plus tax. All good salsa bar and good service. Very satisfying for sure. Fridays they promote a full fish we are going back there for sure. You should try this place if you have not.

Please check your orders before eating the food. This is our last time ordering there, the food is horrible and this time I ordered a Torta, the milanesa was completly raw and the avocado was Black! I took one bite and in tasted anything but food.

We stopped in again today. What a good hearty meal and at a fair price. The restaurant is clean and the staff are friendly. During today's visit, a man and a woman that looked a little half way to zombieland locked themselves in the men's restroom. That was a little odd and colorful but I can't blame El Mezcal for that. El Mezcal congratulations. For your hard work and consistent high quality, you have been awarded the coveted ChadP fifth star. Remember. El Mezcal asked Benjamin Franklin, 'What do we have, a Four or a Five star restaurant?' Franklin replied, 'A Five star, if you can keep it.'

I ordered a shrimp cocktail and the shrimp were spoiled. What disappointed me the most was how they handled the situation. They really need to be more careful with people's health -- eating spoiled seafood cn cause serious health risk, I would not recommend this place.

First time trying this place & the milkshakes were bomb! We drove up at the drive thru & ordered, the girl taking our order was super friendly & patient as we were trying to figure out what we wanted to get. They have so much to choose from on their menu! We ended up getting the Mazapan Milkshake & the Strawberry Milkshake!

Both my cousin my and I were poisoned from eating at the location on San Pablo. We ordered from the drive thru from two different cars as the inside was closed for renovations. After finishing our meals we both got extremely dizzy and my cousin even vomited up the meal. I would not recommend.

The girl taking orders and handing out at drive thru needs to learn what guest service means. She was very rude and disrespectful. Just because I asked for extra salsa before I gave her my payment so that she can charge me for them and she decided to try to charge way more than what the salsas cost. I'm glad I knew what the total should have been, who knows to how many people she's done this to. Food is great by the way but the service is what's going to have me hesitate in going.

Food is usually decent but this time it was super disrespectful and disgusting ordered carne asada fries half asada half alpastor on top of charging me extra for two meats they have the audacity to give me old meat burnt and very distasteful. Smh i can't believe establishments dobthis to their customers i am very disappointed. It will be very hard for me to ever visit you guys again .

I saw the milkshakes and needed to try them! I would give them a 7/10 but I've only tried the horchata and cookies & cream milkshakes. The service was good there's a drive through which is convenient.

I've meant to write a review for a while, but I'm finally getting to it. We have had the molcajete, nachos, torta, and of course tacos. Taco Tuesday! Woohoo! Ok, here it is- not the healthiest, but we went a bit overboard today! We went in for dinner and ordered 12 tacos to share between my husband and kids. The $1.50 tacos aren't too big but are stuffed with meat, and offer cilantro & onion toppings. The al pastor were really juicy and came topped with guacamole (really nice surprise). Carnitas and asada tacos were just as good. The cabeza tacos were not on their deal for the day but we still ordered them at regular price. We like that they have a small salsa bar so we can grab salsa to our liking. The kids ordered a Cheeto burrito to share as well. We were pretty juiced and had new items like churros and a larger variety of beers and milkshakes. Today my kiddos shared the Snickers milkshake, a Mineral water, and a jarritos drink. My hubby had the Toña Nicaraguan beer, and I had a Negra Modelo Michelada which came with a full chamoy and tajin rim and with 3 really good seasoned shrimps, so refreshing! The service was really good today, considering how many people were there. One star off because I just wish they had cleaned up a bit more. We'll be back for more micheladas and tacos! lol

I really like the tacos.. they have $1.50 tacos on Tuesdays. I tried their fish tacos, and those are delicious too. If you order the fish tacos in the drivethru, you are going to wait for a long time. Ive ordered ,and went home, and they gave me someone's elses tacos and not my fish tavos. Lol The $7 monday burrito are good too. Not great. But good for $7. I never ate inside, just went thru drivethru.

The lady at the drive thru this evening was unprofessional and had horrible customer service. We ordered 7 tacos and a hot Cheetos burrito . They only gave us two salsa I asked for more salsa she rolled her eyes and went back and got me one more . I looked at her ask can I at least have one more she huffed and said you're gonna have to pay. I told her never mind and drove off. After paying $35 we only get three sauces for seven tacos and a burrito ? That's ridiculous. The tortillas for the tacos were old and there was more cilantro and onion on the taco than meat. Also The burrito was cold not even warm, never again.

Love this place. I come here for lunch at least once a week. My go to is the Regular Chicken Burrito.

The carne asada burrito was terrible, the meat tasted off, old almost. Gross. What a waste of $16. Im being so serious, don't come here!!! I came after work thinking id drive thru get a koo burrito and it was disgusting.

Surprisingly decent. It's not the best Mexican food but good nonetheless. I came to try the Hot Cheeto Burrito. The milkshakes were tempting but I couldn't do my body like that in one visit. Maybe next time. I expected this to be reminiscent of the late night bites I had after a hard night of partying in my college years. I'm sure under the same circumstances this would hit the spot. What was surprising was that this food wasn't half bad under normal circumstances too. The hot cheeto burrito combo was worth the wait in the drive through line. The Cheetos themselves were a bit soggy but that shouldn't be a surprise because they're drenched in nacho cheese and sour cream. My only wish is that there was more cheese and less sour cream but overall still tasty. The person that took my order asked what kind of meat and I stuck with the asada, it was the right choice. My partner got the enchilada plate which was not bad especially for having come from a drive through. The beans were tasty, the rice okay, my only wish here was that the pico used yellow or white onions not red. The horchata tasted like the ole horchata but I like it and is on the sweet side. The menu can be a bit overwhelming but it does a good job highlighting $5 burritos on Mondays and $1 tacos on Tuesdays, so I'll definitely return.

Saw this place, his Instagram page and was interested. It took me forever to get to this place, because I have so many other Mexican food options near me that it took a while for me to get here. The location is at a old Wienerschnitzel off of 23rd right before you get to CCC. I guess I went on a slow night because there was no specials happening and there were only two other people inside of the restaurant at the time but it reminds you of any type of fast food restaurant setting. I got the Oreo milkshake and three steak tacos. I got my husband the steak quesadilla The Oreo milkshake was beautifully presented. It is thick and sweet and everything it looks like in the picture. I expected more from my tacos. There's a lot of me, but the meat is not as flavorful as I have heard from other places, but it's still good My husband got a quesadilla. Quesadilla was quite a small. Definitely worth a try, but I have other choices that are closer to my home

I like this place. They have an impressive little salsa bar with several salsas. The salsas are on point. Big respect to all Taquerias that brought back the salsa bar after the pandemic because many did not. I will stop by more often. I'm glad they are near by.

I went here and bought the hot Cheetos burrito and it was absolutely disgusting and cold at the same time. Wouldn't recommend anybody to go there....

A drive-thru taqueria! I did not know that this was even a thing! I was shocked and you can even get a hot Cheetos burrito here! I have been wanting to try Taqueria El Mezcal for awhile now, cuz drive-they taqueria is still blowing my mind. So let's get to it! The prices are decent for the portions you are getting. My super carne asada burrito was huge! I asked for cilantro no pico de gallo and they did a fantastic job of mixing the ingredients in the burrito for a balanced bite each time. Unfortunately the cheese wasn't fully melted and I prefer it to be melted on the inside of the tortilla and then all the other goodies added. The rice and beans have flavor but could definitely use a little more love. The carne asada was good but could use more seasoning or more grilling to create a deeper flavor profile. The al pastor was delicious! Their tacos are beautifully priced and the flavor is so balanced with the cilantro, onion, and salsa. Tacos all day! The super taco is twice the amount, larger tortillas, and tons more toppings. I prefer the street tacos much more for a full flavor and best bang for your buck. The quesadilla is lacking and have found that I enjoy the extra foods like guacamole and salsa to be inside the quesadilla not just on the side. It was just ok and my least favorite of everything. Overall, the food was tasty, great service, and an experience to get delicious taqueria food at a drive-thru! Worth trying and hits a different note for a drive-thru experience.

Not bad, not bad at all! It got the job done. Also appreciate how they listen to your order. I had somewhat of a complicated order, but they got it spot on. Enjoyed the wet burrito. My only gripe was I wish they put the sour cream and guacamole inside, rather than on the side. But that's on me and now I know how to order for the next time. And trust me there will be a next time!

This food in this place is very disgusting. I tried their enchiladas and their chicken taste like it's was deep fried in oil that had been reused . The horchata is made with a powder packet!! I do not recommend this place. When I mentioned to the lady that I was unsatisfied with the food she didn't even offer me any discounts or compensation.

If I would be able to rate it zero I would, the place used to be good and had gone down hill. Every time I would go to pick up my food order the employees are busy talking in the back giving no mind to line building up. On top of that they have messed up my orders the last couple of time I did business there. The first time they forgot the guacamole they charged me for the second time around they completely got the meat I asked for wrong and give me red meat when I'm allergic to red meat, and this last time around I specifically said no beans due to a health issue and they ruined my meal by leaving the bean I'm the meal and now I'm not going to ever do business with them again so disappointing please avoid going here at all cost

For a drive-thru Mexican restaurant, it's not bad. It's not the greatest Mexican food I've had, but it definitely isn't the worst. They have outdoor seating with a way bigger menu if you do plan on dining out on their patio area. I didn't go with high expectations because Richmond/San Pablo area already have bomb ass Mexican food as it is, so a drive-thru one wasn't going to impress me. But I mean, come on, dollar tacos on Taco Tuesday?! Can't beat it. You do have to order a minimum of 5 but who usually order any less any way, am I right? The prices are decent, although like most places now, there's an extra charge for the asada due to a "beef shortage." I actually preferred the carnitas tacos anyway.

They were out of the jalapeño poppers I ordered and had to get a refund at the window but the lady was super nice. The burrito was huge and the horchata was sweet in taste but I would go again.

I follow Taqueria El Mezcal San Leandro on IG because of BayAreaFoodz. I saw that they sold a hot cheeto burrito and I wanted to try it, however, I haven't gotten the chance to go down there. I was excited when I found out they were opening one in San Pablo. First time we visited, we ordered inside on a weeknight. The restaurant was empty with just one or two people dining in. We ordered carne asada fries, super chicken quesadilla, two chicken tacos, and four steak tacos. There were a lot of items on the menu, but compared to the drive thru menu, some items were missing such as the asada fries, Jalepeno poppers, etc. My sister enjoyed the asada fries, even though it did look a little plain compared to carne asada fries from other places like Americana and San Juan. It was just cheese, meat, and sour cream. I'm guessing other toppings are extra. The steak looks grounded and were not cut into chunks like other places. I think it's just okay. It was around $8 so it wasn't that bad. My boyfriend had the chicken quesadilla and he said he would get it again. Not much else he had to say. However, it did look a little smaller than some taquerias. It came with sour cream and pico de gallo on the side. I had the four steak tacos and like I said earlier, the steak looks grounded instead of cut into chunks. It came with a lot of meat and onions, which is good, but the tortilla was really soggy that it broke. I'm not sure if it's because of all the meat or if it was too oily. I'm used to "taco truck meat" if that makes sense? So the meat was okay as well. Not like taco truck quality though. I might get again if I'm too lazy to go to the taco trucks in Richmond. My dad has two two chicken tacos, so I can't speak for him. The lady working up front and managing drive thru is very friendly. She offered us free tortilla chips and salsas from the salsa bar. Second time I came was through drive thru on a Sunday. I expected the wait time to be long just because preparing the food fresh takes time. However, I didn't feel like we had to wait that long. It went pretty quick. We just ordered the asada fries again though, so it probably didn't take that much time. My sister ordered the horchata and did not like it at all! The texture was very thick and slimy and it was really bland! We don't know my it was so slimy, maybe it was powdered milk? Idk lol. Won't order that again. Overall, I would like to come back to try the hot Cheetos burrito and other items. Always love supporting locals!

DO NOT COME HERE. I was clear on ordering and when repeating the order no second taco plate was mentioned. I was charged. Got refunded I asked for no cilantro on some tacos and some other tacos plain steak. Both were wrong and the lady proceeded to rudely tell me next time to be more clear I don't know how much more clearer I could have been repeating myself 3 x to her.

DO NOT GO HERE FOR A BURRITO!!!!!!!! The burritos is shorter than a bottle of water, super dry, you don't taste the burrito, only thing you taste is tortilla. Hands down worst place to go for a burrito!!!!!!!!

Yes yes yes yes. The only reason why they get four stars, is because they were already out of quesabirrias by 330. COME ON NOW YOUVE BEEN HERE FOE A FEW MONTHS, ITS ABOUT TIME YOU STOCK UP ON ENOUGH FOOD. All in all, the food was great. Solid 4 stars. Updates will come.

I have been going there past 3 months on Mondays and Tuesday every week for $5 burritos and $1 tacos on Tuesday. Till last week their services are really good and good food, but today they gave me uncooked tacos and Cheetos burrito was really good. Here is pic of same and don't mind asking them if you are ordering 10 tacos and burritos to add extra hot salsa. They gave me 2 red and 3 green which I wanted to change so they charged me extra $1.50 for 3 extra small container of salsa and gave me 5 containers. My dog loves this place specially girl who take orders she gave him free whip cream Until last visit and it was order so I paid for vanilla ice cream. I just want to understand with such big order of customer want 3 more containers of salsa in exchange of mild salsa why should they be charging $1.50

If i could do zero stars i would. Stood in line for five minutes the older Mexican lady refused to take our order and tried to busy herself with doing everything else except take our order. probably because we're black. Once we walked out another person (Mexican) walked and who was there taking their order.....her. Such blatant racism!! I'm calling BBB next

The service was great I love the carnitas . I ordered a burrito and the carnitas are delicious . Not oily or salty they are well cooked and a greater marinade. The Micheladas are BOMB .

Wow a taqueria with a drove thru window??? Sign me up!!! The business took over the old wienersnitzel on san pablo avenue and it seemed they have more business than the predecessor. I ordered 2 tacos, lengua (tongue) and al pastor and the steal fries. The tacos were really good and they were extremely generous with the meat on each taco. The fries were good too and the p0rtion was big, but I wish they would have used a different types of fries and use nacho cheese vs melted swiss as they were a bit dry. However, overall it was pretty good. They gave chips and salsa for free..the salsa could be spicier but both the green and red (hot) salsa.had good flavor. I'll certainly go back for more tacos..yumm..

Did not expect this place to have a drive through, took a special trip from Fairfield to experience this crazy hot Cheetos burrito I saw on Instagram and it did not disappoint. Full of French fries, hot Cheetos, cheese sauce, sour cream, and killer carne asada. I feel pretty guilty for eating this burrito, it's almost so bad that it's good (and I mean bad for my diet) we also had the camarones ala diabla fries....EXTREME!!! Check out their IG page, you will travel to get their amazing milk shakes, custom micheladas, and fantastic Mexican cuisine. Next time we go, I'm getting tacos and a crazy michelada.

I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. The staff was rude and unhelpful, and the food was not that good at best. I would not recommend this place to anyone.!!!!!! Food takes forever at this place .!!!!

It started off at 5 stars... lots to choose from, wide variety of drinks. They answered our questions (we had a ton) and attentively took our order...... OR SO I THOUGHT!! They brought our drinks. Then all the people who ordered after us started getting their food. our drinks were appealing and not bad. Finally they brought in my Cheeto Burrito. (5 stars again) after an HOUR my wife's order still didn't come. I went up to the counter and the cashier explained to me that she never charged me for the Quesabirria!! It upset me because she'd said "quesabirria" when she read back our order before paying -.- However! I am always grateful for good customer service! The cashier needs a raise because she handled it great. If you're the owner and you're reading this... it was the girl with the pink hair. This would have been a five star though.

I ordered a chicken and cheese quesadilla on UberEats and recieved a cheese quesadilla. So I got in my and drove there. I showed them what I ordered and the quesadilla that was given to me. She took my phone and showed the cook. And 15 minutes later I got the same quesadilla with chicken shoved in it and the whole quesadilla is falling apart. I'm so disappointed. This was for my daughter.

Cashier was very friendly. Only spot I know that makes a burrito with hot Cheetos in it. I think I would sub out nacho cheese for real cheese next time though. Went during lunch time so can't blame them that it took a little bit of time for my burrito.

Not a good value for your money. My fountain soda was gross tasting and when I got home, my to go bag contained a little bag of chips and 2 pieces of quesadilla, both very greasy, for almost $10. Won't be going back.
