Google
I’ve been dining at this restaurant for around 20 years, and I’m blown away that it has any negative reviews. This is one of my favorite restaurants — PERIOD. The team is always super friendly, the food is quick, and most importantly, the quality hasn’t changed in years. If you don’t like this place, stick to Arby’s across the street and grow up! Taqueria Nopal is all time!

Google
Super consistent, fast and fresh, delicious food. I love this place! Best salsa bar and the place is always very clean with friendly service.

Google
Always good food. You place your order first and pay; they’ll give you a number, once you order is ready your number gets called and the waitress takes your food to your table. There is no regular waiting staff, if you need anything like straws, lemons, more of this or that, you’ll need to get up and get or request. Ordering extra’s/ sides is pricey, one time I requested extra avocado and I was charged $4 for half of an avocado. Food as I said is great, this is a place where you can try Mexican authentic food. Pozole is served on weekends and is amazing, carne asada never disappoints, seafood is fresh and delicious. They have a good selection in their menu.

Google
Camarones empanizados. That's all that's needs to be said. You wont regret it! After you eat all your shrimp... pour your sauce on your rice and mix it with the salad. Sooo good!!!

Karis Loos

Google
Wonderful Mexican Restaurant in Glenwood! First time my friends and I had been there; the food was amazing, the decor was incredibly colorful and I will definitely go back!

Rachel Archer

Google
I have been going to this restaurant for 10 years and We only order the Tortas because they are the best thing you will ever put in your mouth! The margaritas are quite lovely and the staff are always very friendly. I highly recommend Taqueria’s Tortas with carnitas.

Wesley C

Google
For $3.25 a piece I was expecting a much larger taco. Also they won’t let you take any salsa to go. Don’t waste your money.

Juan Antonio Martinez Lozano

Google
I like this place to eat something typical, either 🇲🇽 🇸🇻 🇺🇸 very good service, sometimes it is very crowded but it is worth the wait....

Yelp
Best Mexican food in town! Always. The salsa bar is varied, always fresh. Very friendly staff, and the setting is quite lively and inviting. Great location too!

Tim L.

Yelp
If you were after the best Authentico Mexican food in the valley. Hands-down. This is the place to go. Casual relaxed atmosphere and a great big parking lot

Abe M.

Yelp
Had a lot of hope for this small place off the tourist path. When I arrived it was full of "mi raza" enjoying a dinner out. Ordered chips and salsa, a carne asada torta, and tamarindo soda. You have to order up front and then you get a number for your food. They have a fairly well stocked salsa bar with various levels of salsa heat. However, there were no pickled jalapeños. Overall, it was a good meal, but maybe not the best torta I've had. I swore the sign said it came with a smear of beans, but to my surprise, it was a fairly bland torta.

Laura S.

Yelp
Best kept secret in town. Don't get filled by the outside. Place is always packed! Carne asada my fav everything is freshly made

Michael J.

Yelp
This is a fun place for an inexpensive Mexican meal. Lots of people in the restaurant on a weeknight is a good sign. You stand in line to place your order at the counter. Then, step aside and your food will be brought to the counter. If you're in a group, you can sit at a table and they will find you. I ordered a carnitas platter and a marg. The platter was decently priced and the pork was tasty. Can't wait to drop in again.

Kim H.

Yelp
Food was subpar....dry and small portions. Wait staff was extremely rude....find another Mexican restaurant in Glenwood...Tapatio or Tequilas...1000% better. Don't waste your time or money here.

Claudia A.

Yelp
We came by to get a quick bite. The tacos were great, the adobado was my favorite. I got a papayas with pork and cheese, I could not stop talking about how good it was. I also recommend their horchata water. Very impressed with this authentic spot.

Ashley R.

Yelp
Excellent food! No matter what you get is great, fast service too, and they are always busy!!

Tammy B.

Yelp
Amazing food! Stop in on our way back to Arizona and we will definitely be back in on our next trip to Colorado. I highly recommend the beef Torta.

Hanna S.

Yelp
This is my new favorite place to eat in Glenwood. There are options for vegetarians, vegans, gluten-free folks, carnivores... The salsa bar is on point. And the staff was super nice. There is a constant flow of customers, but there is also loads of seating available. And the ambiance is nice too. Great place to hang out!

Leena S.

Yelp
Authentic Mexican food in the town of Glenwood Springs! I turned to trusty 'ol Yelp to find a lunch spot for some local Mexican food. Colorado certainly has its share of delicious Mexican establishments. Yelp did not disappoint in pointing us to Taqueria El Nopal. The portion sizes were generous and the staff was friendly. The food was tasty and the ingredients appeared fresh. I really loved the decor inside. Shades of yellow and orange adorned the walls, the booths even had nice mural like paintings on them. It was a happy, cheery, vibrant vibe. The prices did seem a little higher than you would expect from such a small establishment, but we were happy with our food. The even had pure can Coke in glass bottles direct from Mexico. Always a nice treat!

Rachel S.

Yelp
Very authentic Mexican. Great service. The food is excellent and portions are generous.

Harold S.

Yelp
You order here at the counter and they bring the food to your table. I had the daily special which happened to be Chili Relleno with Rice and Beans. It goes for $12.95. I thought this was a little pricey for this type of place, but the portions were very large and the food was actually quite delicious. They allowed me to substitute whole pinto beans for refried beans. Also, you'll get a choice of flour or corn tortillas with this meal. Finally, there's also a salsa bar which you can help yourself to. It seems like most of the selections were quite spicy, but they did have mild salsa as well, if that is what you prefer.

Zlatan-mirela V.

Yelp
Good place. Our place to go when ever we're in Glenwood springs.... Cabeza tacos are really good.

J L.

Yelp
Wow! Delicious Mexican food. Locals frequent here. Cold beer, real bottled cokes, and tender meat.

Aurelio M.

Yelp
Good place to get a traditional taco and torta. This place is always busy so plan ahead

Robert W.

Yelp
Fantastic traditional Mexican food. Everything we've ordered has been very tasty and made to order.

Chris B.

Yelp
Lively, friendly, efficient, and delicious. A real jewell of Glenwood Springs.

Nat S.

Yelp
This is a real Taqueria, and most likely the only one in town. The food was between a 3 and 4. I had a shrimp tostada, and a couple tacos, I liked my food. I also ordered the guacamole and chips which was tasty. The two guys got tortas and they were just alright. One ordered the steak torta, and it was pretty tough. I think the best bet are the tacos, as always I went with pretty much sure joy for me, carnitas and el pastor, and they have a salsa bar, with several choices, of spice and flavors.

Paul C.

Yelp
EAT HERE! This place is a very small hole in the wall with no curb appeal but do not let that stop you. The food here is very good especially if you like authentic Mexican food. If you like your everyday mainstream mexican/tex-mex garbage this place is not for you. The refried beans are some of the best. The relleno was perfect. Ample amount of cheese in the cheese enchiladas. I like grilled lengua better than steamed but there lengua I can't complain about.

Courtney R.

Yelp
An amazing Mexican place! I ordered the carne Asada torta w/cheese, and a carne Asada taco, and a shrimp taco. Be warned, their carne Asada tacos come with nothing unless you order it extra as a side. I was unaware of this until they actually brought out the taco and it was literally just the meat and the tortilla. The torta was awesome. Sooooo good! My friend ordered the carne Asada Plato and she said it was so good she was going to start coming here by herself!!!

Katie M.

Yelp
Drove out of my way to eat here for them to tell me they can't make a burrito with ingredients listened on the menu? Why serve burritos if your tortilla wraps are too small and they charge you more to put all the ingredients in it? The lady at the register wasn't being helpful and walked away in the middle of helping me? I just walked out...

Allie W.

Yelp
I love this place!!!!! They have awesome vegetarian options too and are really accommodating! My favorite is the veggie tacos with guacamole! They're cooked perfectly every time and full of flavor especially for a veggie taco. Suuuuuper good fresh piña that isn't from concentrate. I had actually never been somewhere that had fresh piña made with real pineapple!!!! 10/10

Spencer K.

Yelp
The Taqueria is awesome! Authentic Mexican food relatively inexpensive great ingredients and very tasty. The sign makes it feel like a hole in the wall but it is definitely worth a visit in.

Amy Z.

Yelp
Came here few times in the past and always love it. This is the best Mexican restaurant in Glendwood Springs. The owners and the staffs are always very warm and friendly and the food is delicious always!

Dan G.

Yelp
Great little hole-in-the wall restaurant. The owner was very helpful and made us feel important. Their Nopal in their namesake was delicious. Solid place

Kearstin E.

Yelp
Food was very good- adobada tacos & pupusas. The chips were quite stale. Salsa bar is nice but nothing was really spicy enough unfortunately so that was a big bummer. Also, quite expensive for Mexican. I would say keep searching if you can.

Kristin H.

Yelp
Some of the best Mexican food I've had! It's a busy spot at times but the staff is great and the environment is welcoming. Highly recommend!

Rick E.

Yelp
Excellent food great service the salsa bar has some outstanding flavors to sample. I'll be sure to make a stop here each time I visit this town

Natalee J.

Yelp
This place is LEGIT. The tacos we had were the star of the show. My kids got adobo, I had adobada, and my husband had lengua, cabeza, and carnitas. Highly recommend getting the toppings onion, cilantro, cabbage, and salsa. We also tried the pupusas. They were delicious but under-seasoned to my taste. Get the tacos & you will not be disappointed!

Ces L.

Yelp
Simple and delicious. No frills, but absolute perfection. All staff is kind and courteous! I love coming here, the tacos and the flavors are always consistently good!!

Lance O.

Yelp
Very good food, tortillas are barely slightly lacking but everything tastes great. Definitely recommend trying their food at least.

Axel P.

Yelp
My girlfriend called, and they were super rude because she didn't speak Spanish. Then when she got there they were still being rude, because they got our order wrong. Unprofessional restaurant.

Jasmine G.

Yelp
This was by far the worst customer service ever. We ordered a large drink that wasn't what we expected so we ask if any possible way we can get a different fountain drink, she said no she even kept the drink different give us any other options just kept saying no to everything. Over a $3 dollar drink it's crazy she wouldn't just exchange it for a coke or something to provide some customer service & make sure we felt welcomed. She said the owners have ordered them to never take anything back if it isn't bad no matter what the customer says. Idk if she was lying just to be rude. So I asked for the owners or managers name & number and she wouldn't give me any info not even her own name. We ate there and the whole time she never offered a different drink reminding you not only did we pay for a large drink they kept cause we didn't like the way it tasted it was sure like if it was bad but they didn't even offer a refund. So can you imagine who can or enjoy any food with that type of customer service. will never go back anytime I'm back in town

Nitaya C.

Yelp
Service was fast, but the food.. It was just ok. I ended up ordering like 5 tacos, with several different kinds of meats. I got asada, tripe, and cabeza I believe. It was just bland, even after I piled on the veggies and salsa. I'm not sure the meat was seasoned at all.

Vaughn O.

Yelp
The place was a bit hard to find as a non-local, and like another commenter noted, the parking was atrocious. Somehow I made it inside though, and that's where the magic happened. The menu screamed authentic Mexican food. There were burritos, but no flautas, chimichangas, or other TexMex items clouding up the offerings that could have been made in Mama's home in Mexico. I went with the Carnitas plate, and also asked for chips and salsa. This latter was a mistake. I live in Texas, so I'm used to Mexican and TexMex restaurants "giving" patrons chips and salsa to munch on while waiting for the food to come out. Well, no use in that here, because before I could finish "checking in" here on Yelp, my food came out. OK...the food. The carnitas were not what I am accustomed to. Normally, carnitas come as chunks of pork with a bit of fat still attached--either lightly fried or browned just enough to give a crip texture. This was more like pulled pork...shredded. The taste was good, but I'm not sure this was carnitas. Also, the guacamole could have used a bit more herbs--oregano perhaps? These were my only reasons for giving 4 stars. Everything else on the plate was pretty good, though not the best Mexican I've ever had. Ironically, while eating I ran across a story via Facebook about some guy stealing his mother's pozole. When it's good, people will steal it!

Mike S.

Yelp
Food was fantastic as always. I am bummed they are still using plastic cutlery . If you order different dishes they all come with a plastic fork and knife! Two of us having dinner and ordered a few different things to share and we ended up with 5 forks and 5 knives. Two humans, 1 meal, 10 pieces of plastic cutlery... not good. More tacos less plastic use please.

Keith A.

Yelp
Excellent food!!!!! Nice ladies working there. Quick & Delicious. Carne Asada rocked

Christopher C.

Yelp
Taqueria El Nopal was a restaurant we stopped into on our way out of Colorado. There was no research or preparation so we were prepared to not eat very well. This is a traditional Mexican Taqueria. The food was as authentic as if it was cooked in Southern California, but this was on the road up to Aspen. Some complaints about this place. It felt like they lacked proper systems and protocols of a high volume restaurant and I guess to a degree that's okay with this place. However, the wait time for a Thursday afternoon was unacceptable. Second, it felt like they lacked leadership as there were servers taking orders and cashiers running food out. For a vegan, the menu is not very friendly. The mixed veggies tacos and the nopal tacos were the only items on the menu that didn't have any animal products in it. Just a note to the uninformed. These are traditional tacos so it's just the protein and soft corn tortilla. The condiments you'll add yourself from the condiments which was extensive. The highlight of this restaurant was the salsas. From different levels of heat to different types of tomatoes and tomatillos, the salsas were flavorful, complex and delicious. The disappointment with the food was they didn't make their own chips. That was a little weird seeing how authentic everything else felt. All in all, this is a place for a quick bite, but definitely be prepared to wait as service can be erratic.

Dora M.

Yelp
I have visit this place for so many years and I love the tortas but, it seems like they have changed the recipe I used to recommend the tortas but recently I went twice and no getting better but they have I good service nice people

Paulina V.

Yelp
Too expensive. The only Mexican restaurant I've been to that doesn't give free salsa when you buy tacos. Demasiado caro. Es el único restaurante Mexicano que he ido que no te regalan salsa cuando compras tacos.

Abigail T.

Yelp
This is the best authentic Mexican food I have had, and I've been to Mexico. The pork torta was to die for and with all the sauce and onions and cilantro you want you can add anything it might be missing for your taste. Also I got the pozole, which is the special on Saturday and Sunday. It. Was. So. Good. I have never had pozole in a restaurant that had more pork than hominy. Don't be afraid to eat here, even if you have to look up how to say your number in Spanish. Oh, my husband got tacos, carnitas are to die for. Seriously. If you haven't tried this place, go. And if the atmosphere isn't for you they do take out.

Carter B.

Yelp
Long-time local residents took me here for lunch and at their recommendation I had the tostada with a small guacamole and chips and washed it down with a Mexican Coca-Cola in a bottle. The Coke was wonderful as it is made with real cane sugar so has a slightly different taste that takes me back to the days of my youth before the use of corn syrup. My lunch was great and the service was fast after we placed our orders. It was Mothers' Day and the place was full. We were the only table that I saw that weren't Spanish-speaking, so that further convinced me that it is a good place. The customer base knows what they like. I don't get to Glenwood Springs often, but I'd be back if I were. I saw Carne Asada on the menu and wanted to get it, but knew that after a big breakfast and anticipating a substantial dinner I shouldn't take on quite such a load. Next time I will!

Alia J.

Yelp
Saw this spot here on Yelp and decided to try it out- it did not disappoint! It was busy but we managed to find a spot, and were able to order right away at the corner. Great variety and prices! The salsa bar was large and offered several delicious salsas to add to our meal. We had the carnitas and lenguas tacos which were delicious, and then had pupusas- INCREDIBLE. I highly recommend the pupusas. We will be back whenever we visit the area and are recommending it to our friends.

Roger S.

Yelp
This place is great! We ate lunch here twice last week. They have all the usual tacos plus less common meats like lengua and tripa. I tried the lengua and tripa tacos on this visit. Delicious! Margaritas were good. The staff are friendly and provide prompt service. Wonderful!

Alicia L.

Yelp
Reviews don't lie!! BEST Mexican food in town. Great atmosphere, amazing service (the owner is so attentive and friendly) and the food is to die for! The tacos are authentic Mexican tacos (I would know -my mom is Mexican :) I had two Asada, two adobada, and the Nopal are ones you can't find anywhere. Very tender meat and seasoned to perfection!!! Salsas are delicious as well. My boyfriend had the tripas and lengua tacos... he said the tripas were perfectly crisp and lengua very tender and flavorful. Hats off to the Mexican chefs ! We are going back for more tomorrow.

Carlos C.

Yelp
I had 7 different taco meats, all were ok but the meat was a little dry. Tacos were smeared with onion cilantro and cheese which was a nice little addition. I've had better tacos at Tacos selene on 6th Ave and chambers in Aurora. My wife had a smothered burrito with carnitas inside, wasn't very smothered she also said the meat was a little dry. The actual restaurant was nice and the service was quick even though it was fairly busy. Probably won't come here again.

Justin R.

Yelp
The adobada tacos are unearthly good. Asada is authentic, and carnitas are super flavorful. They have a very impressive salsa bar to compliment the great food. I grew up in San Diego, and this place is as authentic as I have found in the valley . This is a weekly must for my coworkers and I

Madeleine K.

Yelp
Best mexican food in town. Period. Try the cevieche! So delicious!!! Micheladas there are excellent as well. Great atmosphere too!
