The best steak nachos in all of Chicago!!! I just stumbled across this place looking for Birria and everything I had was so good. My new go-to in the neighborhood. Service was 💯 amazing! The nachos are a must. Eat inside for the table chips, they have four salsas for the table & will refill!

I think i have rated this place in the past, but this is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE TAQUERIA. THE STEAK TACOS ARE FYYYYYYYEERRR...so damn good. I live in the south suburbs and this place is so worth the trip. Food, service and atmosphere TOP TIER!!!

Awesome food and experience. The Barrio tacos are amazing the seasoning is on point and the dipping sauce is amazing. The burrito is humongous and tastes great. The enchiladas were ok but not what see in stores. Fajitas are not on a sizzle skillet but are still tasty. I love the chatta this restaurant is very authentic and great I recommend this place for a good fill meal

Great place for good food. It is better then the restaurant with a parking lot. They are super friendly and have plenty of space for large groups. They are fast and understand both English and Spanish. They are very accommodating.

The food was a HIT, and it was large portions. The customer service was great from the beginning. Steak burrito, chicken burrito, and ground beef tacos. Everything was delicious. I will definitely be back!

Bro this food was bussin bussin. And the supreme nachos was HUGEEE. Ther service was super friendly too, there are times where if I don't fit the race of the store, I feel like I get the cold shoulder but the staff here was so friendly and nice, I didn't get that feeling at all. Ambiance was nice, it wasn't super crowded when we got here and you can actually see the people cooking the food so that was decent. 10/10 would come back again. The birria was also FIREEEE!!!

The food here is INCREDIBLE. My husband and I came here after a day of moving into our new apartment nearby, and we couldn't have asked for a better dinner. Our waitress was so sweet, and both of our meals were large portions and so tasty!! The restaurant itself is so colorful and fun inside. Such a great place!

The birria here is excellent. The staff are super friendly and attentive. Every time we are in Logan Square we visit here. The restaurant is lively and it's always interesting to look at the booth or table you're sitting at as they are all hand carved and painted and are each different.

Great service - the quesa birria's were good and the tacos de carne asada al carbon were delicious! The restaurant is artsy and the interior is fun to look at.

Tacos are really good. I've come a few times when in the area. This review is more for the service I received today. I was making a to go order and the girl behind the register got an attitude after I asked to add limes and a drink to my order bc she had to cancel the order to add it. I told her to just run the card again if it was a big deal. Almost wanted to cancel my whole order based on this interaction. Never had someone react like that for wanting to buy more things??

get the quesabirrias if you want to hug your mouth. the meat was absurdly tender, the broth went absolutely crazy - I was eating it with a spoon, and the fat overdose was well worth it. We were greeted and sat quickly, the food came out in no time - made fresh behind a counter where you can see the chefs at work (love that). did I eat too much? yes. was it worth it? absolutely. also, the array of salsas/sauces offered at the table provided ample opportunities for spice and flavor. Will be back !!

Late night rummaging though Reddit's r/ChicagoFood brought me upon this immaculate photo of nachos. Chips suffocated with mounds of meat, topped with sour cream and guacamole via piping bag. Love at first sight. We went to Taqueria El Tapatio the very next day and ordered the Nachos Supremos. Warm chips topped with beans, cheese, and mountains of meat. 1/2 Asada, 1/2 Al Pastor. These nachos were PHENOMENAL! Also ordered mini tacos, 5 for $6. They come filled with carne asada (can't change filling), onions, cilantro, and red salsa. Washed down this meal with a large Horchata. It was on the sweeter end with sweetened condensed milk but still very refreshing. Loved this place. Great for groups. Great service. Great food. Already thinking of coming back!

SO GOOD. I needed to grab something quick before getting my sister to the airport to fly back to KC. Food was delicious and prices were great. It's right down the street from my house, I'll definitely be back!!

Stopped in for a quick taco. The chicken and cheese tacos were fresh and tasty. The inside made you feel like you were in Mexico! Only thing missing was a Margarita!!

This place is expensive for the crap food they serve will never eat there again. My sister ate there and got sick. I warn everyone about this place.

I've heard about this place is very good. And it wasn't disappointed. Their margarita was on point. Ceviche was good to start with. I got Carne Asada steak. It was delicious. I would definitely come back. Highly recommended!

Llevo años viniendo a este restaurante desde niña. I've been coming here for years since I was little girl. Lo único que quiero decir es que deberían mejorar su pozole por qué no tiene sabor. The only thing I want to say is that they need to do better on the pozole other then that the food is great I've neverhad any other problem/complaints.

This place has good food in a neighborhood full of similar restaurants with good food. We came in to try El Tapatio at the recommendation of neighbors. I was happy with my burrito order (very crispy tortilla, which I appreciate) but it was basically the same as the burritos at other restaurants in the area. Same with fajitas and tostadas. Service was OK but a bit slow at times. It took kind of awhile to get the bill and there wasn't really anyone else in the place. All in all, an A-OK place to stop in and get a meal.

I came here after a long day of running errands, and I'm pleased to let you know, this food blew the hunger right out of me and it was actually worth every dime. I got the steak torta and the small tacos, I thought I was going to get one taco but it came in 6, and the total for both was about $13 which I thought was a reasonably price. The young lady on the register was extremely nice. There's a plethora of items on the menu to select from. The service was fast and I will be coming back.

The food is really good, HOWEVER!!!! Please please ask to see what they are charging you because we were like hmm why so much we grabbed one of the go to menus and we calculate with taxes and we got over charged!!$25 and we live far and the person on the phone was super rude when we called to complain

Amazing place to stop by and get a meal , the prices are pretty good .. food real tasty , amazing waitresses they're real nice and kind also they look good , very clean place , restrooms are always clean which is rare to find a restaurant with clean restrooms. Food that I recommend from here are: la Carme asada(steak dinner plate), las quesabirrias (beef), tampiqueñas , shrimp , chicken and beef parrillada and their steak , chicken , tongue, pastor , tripe and Chile relleno tacos !!!! I Love THIS PLACEEEE!

Sooo good! We have ordered tacos, tortas de milanesa, gorditas and always a horchata...Yum! This restaurant is truly a hidden gem. Hidden because there's a taqueria down the street that I know everybody and their momma go to but not meeee. I haven't had the best experience there and Tapatio gives you that "at home" feeling. Try em' out, they won't diassapoint

The masa in las gorditas were a bit hard and the food itself was mostly tasteless, both the asada and the barbacoa. I was with both of my parents eating the same dish and they both agreed. The tacos were alright like at any other decent Mexican restaurant in Chicago. The staff was nice and the place looks very colorful. My mother said this was the place where las gorditas were worth it since we live all the way in the suburbs, but I had other thoughts on the way the food was prepared today, it might of just been their pace. Overall, a three star rating.

Hell to yes, this place is cheap and the food is bangin! They have a little bit of everything for everyone. I like the 5 for $5 baby tacos that come with salsa, cilantro and onions. My daughter had 3 reg tacos w/ the works and they were huge!!!!! Service was decent, food tasted great, can't wait to try the chicken soup my father raves on about!

So I ordered a mixed burrito, al pastor and barbacoa and it was very, very wet. It had great flavor, was seasoned very well but too juicy for my liking. The order taker was very helpful, friendly and patient with us. We had never been to this establishment and she advised us on what was their best sellers. I also tried the horchata; not the best but not the worst. I'd check them out again.

Gave this place a try and omg it was very good! Had a pastor, barbacoa, and Chile relleno tacos, chile relleno wasn't very good but wasn't bad either I guess just okay. Rice and beans were good, the steak tacos al carbon we're way too salty. But overall good restaurant, hopefully it didn't taste good only because I'm pregnant lol will definitely be back! After grocery day me and my husband were starving and since I'm trying to avoid gluten we were looking for some places around but it was difficult since this is more like a Latino area. Always looking for the help of my yelper people I look the reviews and star of taqueria El tapatio and apparently was good. After 2 minutes drive we got to the place and for our impression was big and very very pretty decorated. From the outside you can't really appreciate how nice is this place until you get in. We finally got in and since it wasn't full at that time server very courteous said to take a seat any place we want. Right away they brought water and free chips with a delicious sauce. We were starving so we ate the chips so fast but very nice they even brought us more. We both ordered the rice, beans and 2 tacos plate which was pretty big. As you might know corn tacos are self Gluten free so in my plate I ordered chicken and the special of the day mini steak beef (I shouldn't eat red meet but lol). My husband got al pastor and lengua tacos. We had one of the best tacos in town, everything was so good and fast. On top of the great food and service the place was extremely clean, they even cook with an open kitchen concept so you can see they are super clean. I'm not near by that area, but if I was I would go there weekly because it was very good.

I love this place. There are so many Mexican restaurants on this stretch of Fullerton and this one stands out from the crowd. I received friendly and attentive service when dining in. Amazing and complimentary house made chips and salsa quickly graced our table. I was stuffed to the gills with five tacos after coming in famished, so I'd recommend getting just three to the average eater. I rank the five tacos I got in the following order: chorizo, skirt steak, barbacoa, al pastor pork, rib eye. It definitely feels hispanic inside: Spanish TV on, some Catholic iconography, bright decorations. I love it. Check it out and get stuffed with wonderful food for next to nothing. Can't wait to go back!

Terrible food and over priced. The service was poor been there 3 times in the last 2 years my sister got sick eating there and I got the runs.if you need to get clean out this is the place to go.

My husband and I were looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant near the northwest area of Chicago. We visited this place on Saturday and were very pleased with the food and cleanliness of the restaurant. We were attended very quickly and the staff is friendly and hospitable. We plan on visiting again for dinner.

Everything was absolutely delicious! We were greeted with a warm smile and homemade salsa. Order was prepared in no time and everything was fresh. The server was very attentive and made sure we had everything needed. The establishment was clean with nice decorations.

I know everyone has a taco joint they think is good, has the best tacos in town, etc.... But they're wrong because THIS place has the best tacos. Everything about them is amazing. The carne asada is cooked to perfection and the tortillas should be illegal. They are addictive. If you want tacos then go to El Tapatio. Every other taco after you eat here will taste like Taco Bell. This is the real deal, hands down, without a doubt best taco is Chicago.

I trusted the reviews and gave this place a shot. Easy paid street parking on Fullerton. The cashier was very friendly and wasn't hesitant on giving advice on what they're known for. I walked out with three tacos and a torta. Al pastor, chile relleno, and ground beef tacos and a steak torta. My total was $11.38 and didn't realize until I was home that I was left with a bag of fresh tortilla chips too! I will be making a trip back asap to try out one of their famous platillos mexicanos.

Great food! However, a bit inconvenienced due to a 7 year old online menu that has not been updated. The person I spoke to over the phone has admitted to several complaints due to this issue but they have yet to pull or update the menu. Please resolve this issue... Thank you!

Happened upon this wonderful spot during our April blizzard. Parents can relate: to find a spot that opens early (8 am!) for a casual lunch with kids is a gift! The food was delicious and 60% of the Logan Square prices. Kids menu has chicken nuggets and fries for under $5. Huge menu and tons of seating. Try the Chili Relleno Burrito! We will be back.

Absolutely love the steak tacos and always have positive experience with service. Pretty much fresh, flavorful and affordable food overall it seems. Not a huge fan of the pastor taco though, and do feel that the salsa could be much better.

Love this place. Food is great, staff are friendly and the prices are great for the high quality. Homemade chips and salsa are delicious and come free with every meal. Be sure to try the rib eye steak burrito. Pork tacos are delicious to. Anyone who likes mexican food should try this spot. Deserves the 5/5 star rating.

The service is very good. We have dine in and they are really friendly. We have also carry out and phone customer service is great too. What we have ordered has been al pastor & asada tacos, yum... Mar y tierra is really good, guacamole awesome, gorditas are one of my favorites, my youngest daughter loves the tostadas. The rice is always fluffy and tasty. The refried beans are delicious too. Horchata is on point! I definitely recommend this place.

My guy introduced me to this place and I love it! Ive only ever gotten a torta till last night because they are so good I didnt want to try anything else. I finally tried the burrito, Ive neved devoured and enjoyed a burrito like that unless I was drunk. So glad I was sober to remember the tastiness. There is eveything in the torta and burrito that I love so I dont have to pay extra for the good stuff like avocado. Its a great price for lots of food.

I love it!! My local Mexican restaurant and there's no other Mexican place that can beat their salsa de árbol. Their burritos are great! Tacos, uffss, al pastor is my favorite! Yet alone the staff is very friendly and they're always making sure that everything is okay. Love it!!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this restaurant. I've been coming to this location since I was a pre-teen. There are so many Mexican places but this one takes the cake. The girls are so friendly and the cooks are done with the food super quick. You can see them preparing it in front. I love there Gorditas, and you must try there loaded nachos (You can add meat for an additional cost but well worth it). There agua de Horchata is super fresh and delicious. I don't know what I would do if this place shut down. (knock- on-wood) The owner comes in pretty frequently as well and just hangs out. My dad knows him and always talking about the soccer games over the weekend (typical lol).
