Tacos, quesadillas, churros, and frozen margaritas served

"The family-owned operation by chef couple Dio Montero and Mirna Alvarado offers up a taste of street food from Puebla. Served on perfectly crisp corn tortillas, the shrimp and fish tacos in particular are fresh, flavorful, and filling, striking just the right balance between savory and zesty. Enchiladas verdes and chilaquiles (green or red) are spot on, too. There’s a sister location that caters to University of Maryland students in College Park (and recently relocated nearby). Closer to the original, the owners’ Tequila y Mezcal bar on 14th Street NW offers plenty of cocktails made with agave spirits and a pan-regional food menu. Another Taqueria Habanero opened in Northeast’s new Bryant Street Market." - Tierney Plumb

"As a 26-seat offshoot of the Habanero family’s Tequila & Mezcal, Taqueria Habanero will join the Bryant Street Market lineup serving popular Mexican street-food items as part of the new food hall." - Tierney Plumb
"Founded by husband-and-wife chef duo Dio and Mirna Montero, Taqueria Habanero serves spot-on Mexican street food from Puebla — its chicken tinga, shrimp, and fish tacos are flavorful and filling atop perfectly crisp corn tortillas. Since debuting in Columbia Heights in 2014 (with a follow-up in College Park), regional specialties have built a devoted following. The new Northeast stall will be run by Yicela Alvarado and offer a scaled-down menu that keeps tacos with fresh green and red salsas, quesadillas, tortas, and rotating specials for lunch and dinner; a breakfast program (8–11 a.m.) centers on eggy burritos sent out through a sliding window, and dine-in service runs from 11 a.m. into the evening (as late as 11 p.m. on weekends)." - Tierney Plumb
